In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Saxen was walking the streets of Radiant Garden. He been saving his money to try to rent a house here. He had his gold sword with him on his right hip and his katana on his left. He looked around at all of the houses. He was 17, he shouldn't have had to do this yet. At least, not on his world. He didn't know what he was really doing. He just figured he should stay somewhere more comfortable than a crashed Gummi Ship. Now, he was working on fixing his ship so he could be of more use to the Guardians, but he needed more Gummi Blocks. He had worked out some plans and had even built a model. He had been lucky enough to survive an encounter with Uldro. Now, he and Deathblade couldn't seperate and neither of them knew why. He pulled out the gold sword of Neiday the Great and asked himself out loud, "What in Voqueg is so special about this sword?"
"I don't know who Voqueg is, but your sword... it seems to be made of gold, which would normally make it very weak..." A figure had suddenly appeared behind Saxen, wearing a hooded gray cloak, where the hood covered his head and cast a shadow upon his face, preventing any clear viewing of it. The figure was tall, around 6 feet tall, and exuded a powerful aura. If one were to examine the area of shadow under the hood, they would see the face of a young man, probably in his twenties. The man's eyes, however, were electric blue and almost pulsed with energy.
He made no move to introduce himself or remove his hood, instead opting to examine the youth standing before him. "Judging by the way you're looking around, and the area of town you are in.... you must need to find a place to stay."
When the man appeared behind him, Saxen jumped back and got in his stance with the sword in his left hand. After a second, he realized that this man had no hostile intentions and relaxed. "Voqueg isn't a person, it's a place," he said, half to himself and half to the man. Once he relaxed a bit, he felt an aura of power and wisdom coming from the man. Saxen looked into the man's eyes and could almost feel the energy contained in this guy.
"Judging by the way you're looking around, and the area of town you are in.... you must need to find a place to stay." the man said.
"Yeah..." Saxen said laughing a little to himself, "I've been sleeping in my crashed gummi ship outside town for a few months now. Can you help me out? I only have what I can get from the heartless." He felt around in his pocket to estimate how much he had to spend and how much he'd probably get per month. His thinking was evident on his face, but he was quickly finished. Math was one of his strong points and always had been. Then, he noticed that he still had his sword out. "Oh, sorry..." he blurted out as he slid the sword back into its case on his right hip. "I tend to forget I have that..."
The man chuckled. "Actually, I would like to examine that weapon of yours... it seems to have a strange magic to it, which would probably explain why the thing is made of gold."
Internally, the strange man already had three ideas of where to allow this youngster to rest. Not only had he already known of the presence of the young man, but he had planned for him.
"It sounds like you have an interesting situation. I can help you out for a little while, if you need. There's plenty of space at my place. It's just down the road a piece."
As he spoke, Merlin pointed in the direction of his house, which was a couple blocks away. He was currently disguised as a middle aged man, somewhere in his thirties. The only tell was his eyes, which stayed an electric blue, the Crescent moon mark on his right hand, and the Star mark on his left hand. Because he had pointed with his left hand, the young man would be able to see the silver star, and see it glowing very softly if he paid close enough attention.
When the man asked to see his sword, Saxen hesitated for a moment before realizing that he had no reason to distrust him. Besides, he still had his katana if anything happened. Then, this man offered to let him stay in his house. He had been too distracted to notice the mark on his hand, but he did catch his introduction.
"My name's Saxen," Saxen said before handing over his sword. "Here's this, but I don't want to inconvenience you with my company. Where I'm from, only good friends enter each other's houses. I'm sorry I have to refuse your offer." Saxen then turned and took a better look at Merlin. There wasn't much to see at the moment. All he could really see was the grey cloak.
Merlin laughed, and clasped Saxen on the back. "Oh really? Welll then I'm sorry to say that my offer was going to come with an expedition to salvage some crashed ships within the crystal maw... and I also happen to be pretty good at repairing these same kinds of ships..."
He trailed off, looking into the horizon. Merlin was completely serious about all of this, but most importantly, he wanted to examine the sword that was now in his hands. He gave it a test swing before looked down the blade, nodding, and saying "hmm... These runes... do you know what they mean? or where they are from?"
As Merlin spoke, his hand glowed a bright blue, and then faded. The sword, several seconds later, did the same thing. Merlin smiled, and said softly; "Oh really?"
Holding the sword lightly by the blade, he looked at it once again before returning it to Saxen. "My friend, that blade has a lot of potential. That is not any normal gold."
Reaching his hand up to remove his hood, Merlin shook his head as he did so, and the removal of the hood returned Merlin's appearance to normal. He pulled the rest of his hair from under his hood, and stroked the long, silver beard that appeared with the removal of the enchantment.
He smiled again, saying quietly so only Saxen would hear him; "Oh, and by the way... I am one of the Guardians."
"Oh really? Welll then I'm sorry to say that my offer was going to come with an expedition to salvage some crashed ships within the crystal maw... and I also happen to be pretty good at repairing these same kinds of ships..."
'Why?' was the only thing Saxen could think as Merlin offered this kindness and clasped his back. Saxen couldn't help but smile, though. Then, Merlin began examining the Zykon. Saxen was taken by surprise when Merlin's hand glowed and then his sword did the same. Saxen's jaw dropped slightly at the sight.
After taking a last glance at the sword, Merlin handed it back to Saxen saying, "My friend, that blade has a lot of potential. That is not any normal gold."
"No, I suppose not..." was all he could muster in reply, and, before he could fully recover from what he had just seen, Merlin took off his hood, revealing his true appearance.
Then, something was said that shocked him once more. "Oh, and by the way... I am one of the Guardians," he heard the now old man say.
At that, a smile appeared on Saxen's face. "Well, why didn't you say so? That changes things quite a bit." He paused for a moment. "So...do you think we could still go out and salvage some parts?"
Merlin nodded. "Yes, we can go and salvage. The ships we will be salvaging will be in heartless territory though, so when we do go, you should be prepared."
The old wizard snapped his fingers, and his staff popped into existence in his left hand. It was made of a light brown wood, with several dark knots in the well polished length. On the tip that was away from the ground, the staff had a bright green orb affixed to the top, and it was glowing softly, pulsing like a heartbeat.
Turning to Saxen, Merlin nodded in the direction of his home once again. "Come, we'll talk more when we get to my home. And I'll explain what I did with your weapon along the way as well"
"Yes, we can go and salvage. The ships we will be salvaging will be in heartless territory though, so when we do go, you should be prepared."
At this, Saxen smiled and, putting his hand on the hilt of his sword, said "I have my swords. I'm prepared."
Merlin then summoned his staff with a snap of his fingers. Magic. Saxen was still amazed by it. The staff had a pulsing orb attached to the top. Saxen thought it was pretty cool. After summoning his staff, Merlin turned to Saxen and said "Come, we'll talk more when we get to my home. And I'll explain what I did with your weapon along the way as well"
Merlin chuckled. "Good. Let's hope that all we'll need is steel."
As they walked toward Merlin's house, He began to explain about the sword. "Your sword, Saxen, is very interesting. It seems that it can mirror any spells that it is introduced to, albeit with a weaker result. For example, if I were to use magic to cast a raging fireball that was six feet in diameter, and either use it on the weapon, or use it near the weapon, it would gain the ability to shoot out a much smaller version of the fireball. Do you understand?"
Merlin waited for the young warrior's response, as they slowly walked toward the magician's house.
Once they arrived, Merlin waved his hand, and snapped his fingers. A table appeared, along with a roll of paper. The paper unrolled, revealing a map of the lands around the crystal maw, the bailey, and several other areas. there was a scattering of dots on the map, some clustered around each other, others spread out widely.
Merlin drew an X on the map with his finger, which resulted in a silver pigment appearing. In the middle was one of the black dots. "This is your ship, so we won't salvage from here."
As he looked upon the map, Merlin rubbed his beard. "Let's see... this one, and this one, and this one too." As he spoke, he drew circles around other black dots, and then looked at Saxen.
"We'll go to your ship first, and then assess the damage." He pointed to the X, and then traced a path to the circles and back as he continued speaking. "From there, we'll be able to figure out whatever we need. If possible, I'd like to re-locate it to a place within town, where you can work on it in the safety of a garage, and use the proper tools and whatnot. You'll also have the benefit of being able to stay in the small room above it, if you'd like."
Merlin nodded, circling a couple more locations on the map, including the largest cluster. "Do you need to do anything before we head out? If not, we leave immediately."
Saxen followed Merlin to his house, listening as he explained the sword. Saxen nodded as he listened and, when Merlin asked if he understood, Saxen simply nodded once more and said "Yeah." When they got inside, Merlin made a table and a map appear. He then started explaining the salvage operation. They'd go to his ship first, then get whatever he needed from the other ships.
"If possible, I'd like to re-locate it to a place within town, where you can work on it in the safety of a garage, and use the proper tools and whatnot. You'll also have the benefit of being able to stay in the small room above it, if you'd like."
"Sounds good to me," was Saxen's simple response. Then, after circling several more spots on the map, Merlin asked if Saxen was ready. He thought about it for a moment and decided that there wasn't anything he needed to do. "I'm ready any time you are."
Merlin rolled up the map and placed it in his sleeve, nodded to Saxen, and then led the way to the crashed gummi ship.
The walk was rather uneventful. the heartless presence was relaxed, and Merlin's will made the occasional wandering heartless not notice the two walking towards the crash site.
As they approached Saxen's Gummi ship, Merlin stopped, pulling out the map. "Ok, show me around your ship, and then tell me what you think you need. With that list, we'll know exactly what to look for when scavenging. Also, I'm sure we'll be able to find many of the lower powered weapons, as most of the sites are already scavenged, except for yours, and this one here." Merlin pointed to the one that was furthest from town, deep in the crystal fissure. "of course, that is because it is in a heartless hot-spot of sorts. That area isn't circled, because I would prefer not going in there. I've had enough trouble with it already."
Merlin gave the map to Saxen, and nodded, looking around the crash site.
Once arriving at the crash site, Merlin said a few more things and Saxen followed his directions. "I was actually planning on starting totally over and maybe fixing this one up just in case I ever need a more comfortable transport." Then, Saxen formed a model of the ship he wanted to build. It was rather small, with a one-person cockpit. It was designed like a one-man fighter ship. "What we're going to need the most would be the cockpit, some weapons, though I could do without those, wings, and blocks to make the main body." After a short pause, he turned back to Merlin. "Let's go."
