In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Arlan found himself wandering the bailey of Radiant Garden once again. He had walked the town so much that he practically had the area memorized, Except for the castle. He hadn't really explored the castle too much. But he planned on it one day. It was just a matter of getting the chance. And maybe that chance would come today. He found himself walking in the direction of the castle for that very reason.
But the question remained... Would someone stop him on the way? Sure, that would be ideal as Arlan still wanted to test his powers against another. But if no one did, he would just continue to the castle. It was just a matter of time. He continued to walk, but realized how lonely he actually was. Normally, he didn't care. But he did for once. So he pulled the Tilanis card out of his pocket. "Tilanis!" He said as he threw the card in front of him. The Black and white wolf burst forward from the card as the card returned to Arlan's pocket.
Tilanis, in grunts and moans, said to Arlan "You call me out with no danger?" Arlan replied, in the same kind of grunts and moans "Sorry. Just wanted some company. What, I can only call you out when there's danger?" The two continued their conversation, speaking as wolves do, not as humans. The two could understand each other perfectly, but to others, they would not know what was being said, unless they could speak wolf, or they were on the Pride Lands, where everyone was an animal. The two just kept walking on, talking away in wolf-speak.
Rose hated being alone. She liked exploring, and liked going new places, but she didn't like going alone. She never knew when she would meet someone hostile. Luckily for her, she wasn't alone, plus, she had finely honed combat instincts, and could sense a threat. Of course, she didn't need those instincts when the only other human in the area could summon talking wolves from midair.
Rose ducked behind one of the construction braces, and motioned at her shadow. It shook its head, which would be quite an accomplishment for a simple shadow. However, this was no simple shadow. It was a powerful Neoshadow by the name of Halen. And he could sense a fight just as well as his mistress. The only difference was he tried to avoid fights. Thus his refusal to step out of Rose's shadow. Too bad for him he wasn't the dominant one in the relationship. Rose gestured forcefully , and Halen reluctantly shifted from 2D to 3D. He hid behind Rose, trying not to attract attention.

Tilanis was continuing to talk to Arlan before stopping. Arlan stopped as well, looking to Tilanis. The wolf started to sniff the air before he started to growl, and quickly spun around to face the two that were trying to hide. While they were succeeding in doing so, Tilanis could smell them trying to hide. Arlan turned around to face them as well, and wondered why people would be trying to hide from him. He didn't care. Someone was there and he was ready to fight them if they wanted to fight him.
He didn't say a word, just looked at his Card holster and pressed a button, randomizing the cards that were inside. It was his means of fighting, and he needed them random so that he could follow his path of Luck. If this let to a fight, he would need them as Tilanis and his sword would only be able to do so much. After the cards were random, a green light shined on his holster as he pulled another card from his pocket and held it high. "Transmutation!" He then threw the card on the ground and the sword launched from the card. The card flew back to his pocket as he grabbed the sword, facing the two, awaiting them to approach.
[NOTE: Below is my randomized deck. Anyone who joins doesn't exactly need to pay attention to it, but this way you know that it is randomized and I'm not pulling numbers out of my butt. List randomized Here. Throughout the thread, I will also do dice rolls for which card is used. Dice rolls will be done Here.]
"Well, looks like a fight... Halen? Go." The Neoshadow leapt into the air and began climbing the scaffolding, searching for an advantageous spot. Rose, meanwhile, had pulled out her shotgun, and was quickly loading shells into it. "I am so sick and tired of guys like you," she said. "You always pick on girls, or is this about Halen?"
Halen, meanwhile had reached apoint twenty feet up and was surveying the layout of the nearby area. Pipes, platforms, and blank wall stretchs. He hissed then flung his hand to the side, a sword mateiriallizing in his hand, much like a keyblade. The sword was about two feet long, with a single sharp edge. A darkforged falchion. Halen grabbed the edge of the platform, and swung over the edge easily, clinging to the side, looking like a heartless ninja.

Arlan laughed at the statement. Pick on girls? Never... Arlan fights with anyone who is willing. Its the only way he sees getting stronger. Arlan scoffed slightly, looking at the girl straight in the eye. "I don't pick on girls... I just don't like people watching me. Now... If you want to fight, then lets fight. If not... Then allow me to go on my way." He said, staying very calm about the whole matter.
He watched the two carefully. He mainly kept his eyes on that gun. He grunted toward Tilanis, speaking to him, and saying "If you can... Get that gun away from her." To them, they wouldn't understand unless they could understand wolf speak. But Tilanis understood perfectly and nodded. Arlan looked up to the heartless holding the sword above him on the building. He wasn't sure what the heartless was doing following her, but clearly there was a reason. As for her, she didn't look familiar, but then again, Arlan didn't exactly follow who was from Radiant Garden or not. So now it was a matter of watching them and seeing what they would do next.
Rose heard the gorwling, and while she didn't know what they said, she knew they were planning. You're not the only one who can comunicate secretly, she thought to herself. She whistled at Halen to get his attention, and gave him a single look. That look said Get behind them. Halen leapt across the canyon, grabbing a pipe one handed and flipping off of it to land on another platform.
"Look, I'm not looking for a fight. You come up out of nowhere, you pull a wolf out your ass, and then you start pointing swords at me, accusing me of spying on you. How would you react if the role were reversed, huh?" Rose meant what she said, but she was also trying to distract thier attentions away from Halen. "You wanna fight, that's fine with me. I'll fill you full of lead if I have to. But if not, then why don't you put away the sword, and call off the wolf."
Post by Jason Arilani on Dec 16, 2010 15:54:21 GMT -4
Arlan listened to her words, and watched as the heartless jumped away. Probably more of a strategic maneuver in case it was needed, but he looked back to the girl before him. He wasn't about ready to fight someone with a gun. Especially since he didn't have a shield, and the walls looked like they would crumble if shot with a shotgun. On the bright side, shotguns were less effective the further away you were. If he attacked from afar, he would be a lot safer then fighting up close. It was a matter of how he wanted to strategize.
But he would play her little game. The transmutation card was pulled from his pocket as he threw the sword into the air. He held the card up, looking at Rose still, and the sword flew into it, returning to the card as he put it in his pocket. "We'll do this in turns. I put away my sword. Now either call off your heartless or put away your gun. Then I'll put my friend away. Take your pick." He wanted Tilanis by his side for now until one of them was gone. Either the gun, or the heartless. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the Tilanis card, showing her that he would put him away when she was finished. But he hid the Teleportation card behind it, just in case he needed a quick get away. Now it was her turn.
"Halen! Down!" The Heartless immediately leapt down to the ground. Normally a fall like that would hurt, but Halen had long ago figured out how to avoid impact damage. He splashed into the ground, the darkness in his body forming into spots on the ground. The spots shot towards rose, and converged on her shadow. It darkened for a moment, then went back to normal. Rose cocked her shotgun, taking off the safety, just waiting for treachery. "There, he's in my shadow. Now it's your turn."

Arlan nodded, and looked to Tilanis. A slight whimper and growl came from Tilanis as he said "I don't trust her... Do I have to?" Arlan nodded and growled back, saying "Yes. Let's play her game for a bit. Don't worry, I'll call you if I need to." Tilanis nodded as Arlan threw the Tilanis card forward. Tilanis jumped into the card as it returned to his hand. The Tilanis card and hidden Teleportation card was returned to his pocket. He held his hands up, showing that he held no weapon or cards in his hand.
"There. Now if you'd be so kind and put your gun away." He said, waiting until that was done to lower his hands. He would then walk toward her, and if she didn't back away, he would continue to do so. He didn't care to be so far away from someone, especially if she wanted to talk. Besides... She was ruthless... Someone who could command respect. While she didn't follow a path of luck, like Arlan did, perhaps she still considered herself neutral. It was a possibility, and so he waited for her to speak. His cards remained random in his holster as he waited.
Rose watched closely as he slid the wolf card back into his pocket. She then swung her shotgun over her shoulder. "There. My gun's up."She leaned back against the support column, and let out a sigh, trying to remove the tension. "So, card boy, talk. Who are you?" she said out loud, while asking a different version of the question to Halen. Halen focused, and read Arlan's heart. Heart almost equal. Never light or dark long, Halen said. Yes, but can he be trusted? Rose thought back to Halen. Her shadow shrugged. Don't know.

Card boy? Arlan didn't quite appreciate the nickname, but whatever... He looked at her as she asked the question, wondering if to give her his Alias or his real name. Normally, he would answer the question with "AA", but he felt different here.
"It's not Card Boy... It's Arlan. And the wolf you saw before, his name is Tilanis, and he happens to be my best friend. I summoned him because I was bored and needed someone to talk to. What about you, and your shadow?"
He asked, curious as to who this person was, and wondering why she was travelling with a heartless. I mean... Travelling with a wolf is one thing... They aren't completely feared. But a heartless? Not many would appreciate seeing something like that wandering the streets. So why was she? Very curious indeed....
"I'm Rose. The dark guy is Halen. All I know about him is that he's a Heartless. But every time I ask him what a Heartless is, he just points at himself." Rose tilted her head to the side. "He's not dangerous, really. Just not very intelligent. You wouldn't happen to know what a Heartless is, would you?" she asked, giving Arlan a look that clearly said Tell me everything you know unless you want to get reaquainted with the gun.

Arlan almost laughed when she said that he points to himself when asked what a heartless is. He didn't know exactly what they were, but he had a small understanding of them. So he stifled the laugh, especially after the look he was given by her, and decided to give her everything he knew on them.
"Heartless are, as far as I know, creatures who mindlessly attack other people to steal their hearts in an attempt to fill the void of missing their own hearts. Thats what I believe anyway. But then again.... Many peoples beliefs change over time. Can't say that I've actually researched the blasted creatures. All I know is they attack people, steal their hearts, and repeat the process. Why yours is different is beyond me."
He said, hoping that she didn't immediately turn on him for insulting her friend. At least... He figured the heartless, Halen, was her friend. Who was he to judge? Either way, he thought about Tilanis. He hated shoving his friend in the card, but it was for the protection of his friend. If people saw the wolf, they may try to attack, and that was something he didn't want to have happen. He then looked to his holster again, itching to fight something, but he was sure he wasn't going to get his wish this time.
"Heartless are creatures... without hearts... that eat other peoples hearts... to fill the void? The fuck? I'm missing something here..." Rose snapped her fingers, and Halen stood out of her shadow. "Is that right?" she asked. Halen shrugged, then nodded, then shook his head, which meant that she was only part right. "Halen, do heartless steal hearts?" Nod. "Do heartless eat hearts?" Shake. "So, what do you do with hearts?" Halen shrugged, and feeling a little exposed, slipped back into Rose's shadow. Sh turned to Arlan. "So that's the extent of your knowledge? Heartless crack chests and steal people's hearts? That's basically all you know? And, you've never, ever questioned that? You've never actually taken the time to research your enemy? If someone did something that stupid in the Wastelande, he'd be rotating slowly over a Raider's fire in an hour! Or a prisoner, which is, if possible, worse!"

Arlan could see this conversation turning into a bad situation and quickly. He closed his eyes and stuck his face in his hand at the accusations and the lack of what she got from his description. As she finished yelling at him, Arlan pulled out the card of Tilanis and threw it to the side. Tilanis returned out in the field as Arlan turned it back on her.
"I don't quite care about the fucking heartless! I only care to find the bastard witch that turned my best friend into the wolf you see right here. And if the heartless attack me on the way, then I'll attack them right back. There is no way I'm going to let them steal neither of our hearts. And if you've got a problem with my 'lack of knowledge', then find someone who cares. I've got things to do...."
He yelled back, Tilanis returning to the card and back to his pocket. He only wanted him out as a visual for explaining a very brief explaination of what happened to him and Tilanis. He then turned around and started walking back toward where he was going. However, if he was stopped, or if he heard the sound of the gun, his hand would shoot to his card holster and turn back around. If she wanted a fight, then he would give it to her, gun or no gun. But he hoped that it wouldn't come to that. He wasn't quite ready to face a gun yet. What he would do next would all depend on her actions...
