Picture(optional):Appearance: Vadrath’s hair is jet black and kept spiked up. His eyes are a pale blue, and connote a feeling of emptiness; befitting of his detached demeanour. Aside from the cream and brown outfit in the picture, he often wears a tank top, jeans, military boots and fingerless gloves, all of which are black with red tribal motifs.
Personality: Vadrath is quite bipolar; one minute, he’s friendly, talkative and optimistic. The next, he’s silent and stoic, with a heart of ice. Often, people find it hard to get close to Vadrath because of his generally detached attitude, but even he is victim to the old adage: Some people put up walls not to keep others out, but to see who cares enough to bring them down.
History/Background: Vadrath grew up much in the same way Sora did. He was born and raised in a moderately sized village, dozens of miles from the nearest town. He only ever had two close friends, both of whom he has not seen since the ‘incident’.
One night, three days after a strange meteor shower, a mass of black creatures attacked the village. Vadrath, following his instincts, turned tail and ran with his parents in tow. Soon, however, they found themselves cornered by the creatures.
Just when it seemed they were finished, a strange spaceship roared past, strafing the creatures with laser fire. It made another pass, finishing the monsters, then touched down in a nearby clearing. Vadrath and his parents made a break for the craft, but the boy’s father was struck down from behind by a ball of dark energy. Vadrath and his mother turned to be met by an enormous, humanoid creature with a heart-shaped hole in its body. It fired another ball of energy, and Vadrath’s mother stepped in front of the boy like a shield. She took the full force of the ball and dropped limply to the ground.
The distraught Vadrath, gripped by fear, could not budge an inch as the creature prepared another volley to eradicate the child. Just then, a hand grabbed Vadrath by the arm and heaved him aside, getting him aboard the ship and working the controls. The engines burst into life and the ship shot into the air. Before he left, however, the pilot brought the ship to a halt, turned around, took aim at the creature and let loose a storm of lasers. The monster staggered backwards, reeling under the unrelenting bombardment. Eventually, it lost its footing and crashed to the ground as the gummi ship made its escape, turning skyward and soaring off into the night.
By this time, Vadrath had fainted. The pilot continued on his way, eventually coming to his home; Traverse Town. Here, he left the boy in the care of the item shop proprietor and left to attend to personal business.
When Vadrath came to, he was met by the owner, who, having been told by the pilot that this boy was from a world taken by the Heartless, proceeded to explain to Vadrath what had happened and where he was. Vadrath, confused as he was, tried to make sense of the situation. Eventually, he decided to simply stop looking for a logical explanation and accept what he was being told; that his home had been destroyed by these “Heartless”, and that he was in another world.
The shop owner, as instructed by the pilot, presented Vadrath with two gifts; a sword named Phantasmal Storm, and an orb of magic energy that granted the kid the ability to control shadows. He had said that the boy had certainly not seen the last of the Heartless, and that he’d need weapons. Vadrath, remembering the cruelty with which the Heartless indiscriminately attacked the villagers, vowed to take the fight to them and avenge his friends and parents.
Role Playing Sample: One down. Two. Three. How rude of the Heartless to interrupt Vadrath’s stroll through the town. He’d been minding his own business when he was jumped by a band of Soldiers. The boy had stepped forward and, with an indignant snort, extended his arm to the side. Phantasmal Storm formed within a cliud of dark energy, and the boy charged. Those poor Heartless had no idea whet they’d let themselves in for. Now, they were three down, and Vadrath was just getting started.
The remaining four surrounded him, preparing to strike from all directions. Vadrath merely straightened up and took a more relaxed posture, a smile playing across his lips. As the Soldiers leapt at him, he raised his free hand, and four spikes of darkness lanced out from his shadow, striking the Heartless down. As the hearts they’d taken floated into the air, Vadrath genuinely relaxed, sheathing Phantasmal Storm on his back.
“We’ve got to do something about this infestation.”
