In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

After lunch, Saxen had told Alexandros that he was going to go out and spend some time out and about in the town. He stuffed some money in his pockets, walked out of the apartment, down the stairs into the gummi garage, and out into the streets. It was much nicer than staying in his old, crashed ship that he had been sleeping in. He walked by the weapon shop and looked into the window. They had some nice weapons, but he couldn't afford them and didn't need them, anyway. He kept walking a little further and opted for a seat on a bench across from the ice cream shop. He'd get some for himself, later, but, for now, he was just going to watch the people come and go. That was one thing that he liked about being mostly unknown. It let him go unnoticed so he could see how people interacted with each other. At the ice cream place, you could see teen couples, little kids, and, sometimes, a sweet, elderly couple. Today was more dominated by the teen group. He watched a couple get into an argument, but most of them seemed to be having a good time. "I wonder . . . how many of them will last." he asked himself and kept watching.

This place was like a dream come true for that dark-haired girl.
She'd inspected every inch of her direct vicinity. Thought she hadn't seen any Heartless yet, she knew they were around somewhere. An aura of excitement had overtaken her initial coldness, and she found herself running around town, poking in shops, saying 'hello' to random strangers as if she'd known them her whole life. If there was any world the tsundere had wished to stay on, it was this world, where moss was just starting to climb up the walls, children played and laughed without a care in the world, and there was actually a completely safe part of town. For the first time in a while, her pale skin saw the sun and she knew that she wanted to live out the rest of her days here when her adventures were over.
Some divine force guided the girl to a nearby ice cream shop where she wouldn't have dared to go in under normal circumstances. The place was overflowing with people, but a certain sign piqued her interest. While waiting in the long line, she continued to wonder what 'Sea-Salt Ice Cream' was... Whatever it was, they certainly did have it in Traverse Town. Patiently, that girl continued to wait and wait and wait until finally, she found herself at the front of the line. Softly, she requested that strange ice cream and within the next moments, it was within her hand. She retreated to the store's front and took a bite.
Rust-colored eyes widened in apparent amazement.
"This must be what the sea tastes like..." Helena Mitsuko muttered to herself. She'd never been in the sea before, though the idea was repulsive to her, but this--THIS she could handle. And it was the most satisfying food item she'd ever tasted.
Saxen smiled seeing one girl go go around to several of the different shops. He couldn't help but think she was kinda cute. When she went into the ice cream shop, he decided he'd go and talk to her. He got up from his bench and went in. He sat down next to her just in time to hear her say "This must be what the sea tastes like."
Saxen let out a chuckle before saying "Trust me, it's not. The ocean tastes horrid." He ordered a hot fudge sundae before introducing himself. "My name's Saxen," he said, giving her a warm smile. "And I would imagine a girl as nice-looking as you would have a similarly nice-sounding name." He had learned to never let a compliment go to waste. There had been plenty of times, back on his home-world, that he had neglected to say anything to someone because he was worried he'd creep them out, only to find out later that they would've appreciated it. He got his sundae and started into it, turning to face this mystery-girl.

An awkward laugh, as if held captive for many years now, escaped her lips. When was the last time she'd been called pretty or something synonymous? Helena could hardly remember. She was in a good mood, no doubt, for all these things to fall in place. Her personality was shifting, little by little. The girl would be experiencing some awkward moments where she didn't know what to say, how to act, what to think... This was one of those times.
I thought you had someone else to worry about these things with, eh?[/color]
No comments from the peanut gallery.
What did he ask for again? A name? A bout of tension flowed through her. She could have answered that question what felt like hours ago. Swiftly, the girl recomposed herself and answered softly, "Helena Mitsuko. I guess you could say I'm new around these parts."
"Helena Mitsuko. I guess you could say I'm new around these parts."
Saxen laughed. "Helena Mitsuko," he let the name echo in his mind for a second. "And it's pretty obvious that you're new here. What brings you here, anyway? I'm pretty sure you're not here just for the sea-salt ice cream." He laughed and hoped that he wasn't making her uncomfortable. He'd feel so bad if he did. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and ate another bite of his sundae. He'd have to relax himself and try to remember not to do anything to creep her out. He slowed his mind down as much as he could and waited for her answer.

Somehow, a smile escaped from her as well. Helena was losing the ability to keep her emotions in check... But perhaps this was a good thing. Things were changing pretty fast and still, it was hard to keep up with it all. Maybe she'd get used to all of these changes in personality and in attitude by the time the girl finally realized that indeed, there was no going back now. Maybe not. How was she supposed to know? After all, Helena didn't like to dwell upon the past... It was far too painful, even years after that "Fateful Day"...
Then Helena found herself back in that new world she didn't really want to leave. Before her was that blond-headed boy--Saxen, right? His eyes were a deep, nearly boundless blue. The color reminded her vaguely of someone else she related with that dark color. Instantly the girl relaxed. The thought of that someone was enough to make her initial tension fall away... Saxen was eating a sundae rather politely; he asked what brought her to this world. Then Helena realized that she didn't even know this world's name and laughed in spite of herself.
"Ah, I'm just wandering around. Some guy named Leiz is carting me and some of my friends around," She answered lightly. The girl took another bite of the Sea-Salt Ice Cream in her hand. Still, the flavor gave her goosebumps. Even if the sea didn't taste like this, she still wanted to go out to see what it did taste like for herself...
You're changing, Helena. And no matter what happens, you'll end up surrendering to your darker side...
So, she was traveling the worlds. With all the heartless and nobodies out there, it could be dangerous, especially if it wasn't a group of trained fighters. He was worried about her. Why? He wasn't quite sure. He had just met her; why did it bother him so much? He looked at her and thought about it. She was cute, and she was poking at memories in his past that he couldn't quite place. But he knew why it was bothering him so much: he liked her. Being totally honest with himself, part of him was afraid of this happening. His goal was still to weaken the Heartless and be able to go home, but . . . what if that never happened? No matter what . . . someone was likely to get screwed over, and Saxen didn't like that. He'd have to wait a little longer and see. "So, what are your friends like?" he asked. No matter how she answered, he was probably going to get some information that he wanted. He wanted to get to know her.

"My friends?" The question caught Helena off guard. She didn't know what Saxen wanted to know, but really, she didn't know much about her friends at all. Of course, she'd talked to them some. Legato, Falsetto, and Anil, especially, were the ones she knew best out of all of the people on the ship. She was particularly fond of Hero, but perhaps he counted more than just a friend. She knew him more than she knew a lot of people. Even in her old world, the girl didn't make many friends. Truth be told, she really didn't like people in general. Even now, as the tsundere was slowly changing personality, people remained the same in her eye.
Something did seem odd about these questions, however. The way he poised the question, even the little glances gave Helena cryptic clues about what he could possibly be thinking. A hand came to her hair and she brushed her bangs out of her eyes softly, blinking up at the blond-headed boy curiously.
Those eyes...
"Truth be told, I really don't know much about most of my friends. Worth mentioning, I have two friends who are song mages... Leiz is the captain... A boy named Anil can create things using a power called Imaginaire or something. I think there's a Heartless onboard the ship as well, but I dunno if I've seen it... Of course, then there's a guy named Hero that I met in another world..."
Saxen listened to what little information she gave. He was fairly disappointed; he didn't learn anything he wanted to know. He had wanted to know about their personalities and how they treated her, maybe even something about their fighting ability, but he didn't get any of that. He looked down and realized that his sundae was mostly melted. "Aw man . . ." he muttered before drinking the rest of it. As he got up and crossed over to a trash can to throw his trash away, he looked back at her and said, "I meant . . . what are they like. How do they act? How do they treat you and others? Can they fight? You know, stuff like that. Dumb stuff, too. Like . . ." he sat next to her again and thought for a moment. Should he tell about himself, or one of his friends? He just couldn't think, especially with her right there. He finally thought of something and just decided to say it before he thought better of it. "I've actually never had a girlfriend, I try to do everything I can to help others, and I want to make sure others are safe. That's why I travel the worlds, too . . ." His heart was beating faster than normal and he could feel a bit of a lump in his throat. There were plenty more things he wanted to say, but he knew better.

"Oh! I knew that..." Helena said with a slight laugh in spite of herself.
Don't even say anything. You don't know them. I'm the one who pays the most attention, trying to latch onto their weaknesses so after I take this body, I can take theirs, as well--
Don't hold your breath. But since I don't have half an idea of what they're like, go ahead and fill me in... Helena didn't necessarily enjoy the idea. She barely enjoyed the idea of having her darkness talk to her on a whim. But the parasite was useful from time to time, the girl had to admit. Now was one of the few times it wanted to help her out, but then again, this was probably for its own gain rather than hers. After the darkness had revealed enough information, Helena went on,
"Falsetto and Legato are pretty normal, both with chipper dispositions... well, as far as I know. They're nice to me. Anil is very shy, very quiet... I kinda don't like him because of that, really. I really can't tell you what Leiz is like, because he's kind of odd... I dunno, I don't talk to him much. Hero... he's sweet and caring and kind and...
"But that's it. I don't know much about people because frankly... I don't really care about them. I learned that I was like that the hard way, after my trust was broken... But don't worry, I think I'll be okay... It's glad to know that I have a kindred spirit. The worlds need more people like that..."
Helena figured that if she said 'you and me', it would suggest something. Besides... the worlds didn't need cynics like her.
Now he got more of what he had wanted to hear. It seemed like things were pretty good until she got to the part where she told him that she didn't care about people. So, her trust had been broken . . . that was always a sad thing to see. He knew what that was like. He'd had plenty of people turn on him in his life, but he just kept moving on. It hurt, but he ignored it. It was like being shot in the leg, but needing to hike to get water. You keep moving because you have to, even though the wound never actually heals. You just . . . get used to it. He put his hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eyes. "Trust in necessary for life, I'm sure you know that, but if it's broken, it doesn't do any good. I know I just met you, but I'd be willing to do what I can to help restore your trust." He smiled warmly at her. He couldn't stand seeing broken people. Back home, when he visited the surface, he was starting to get well-known for talking to people and giving them exactly what they needed, whether it be words of encouragement, comfort, or just a hug. "Trust me." His mind was racing, trying to think about something more he could say without sounding totally crazy, when an idea came to mind. "Hey, how would you like for me to show you around town?"

Bet you'll jump at that opportunity, right--[/i]
"I'd love to, Saxen!" The girl squeaked excitedly, rather uncharacteristic of Helena. She took her last bite of the remaining ice cream, which started melting whenever she was talking anyway. As she made to chew on the stick as was the habit of hers, something caught her eye. Winner...? What did I win? She shrugged and figured that one had to mail it to the makers to get a crappy prize. The ice cream stick continued to be chewed on either way.
The girl rose to her feet and looked about. Again, this world looked incredibly pleasing--much better than Traverse Town, in fact. Again she hoped that Leiz would drop her off here instead of making her go back to Traverse Town. Perhaps she could get to know Saxen better if that happened. She wouldn't mind slipping into old age around here... Besides the presence of fountains wherever she looked, Helena could definitely see herself staying here, even if just for a while...
Though, for some reason, the thought of shunning Traverse Town in its entirety didn't seem right to Helena. Yeah, she hated the place and a lot of the people in it, but she'd lived there for four years. She'd fought Heartless there, wave upon wave in some instances, in order to protect the people there, especially those who were completely innocent. Would the tsundere have the same chance here? Would there be those who needed her help in this vast world that she did not know?
"I'd love to, Saxen!" The girl squeaked excitedly.
Saxen smiled at her. Her acceptance of his offer made him extremely happy. Now, he just had to figure out what to show her first. The gardens seemed like a good place to start. He put his hand on her shoulder and spoke quietly, but still obviously excited. "Come on!" He ached to take her hand and lead her out there, but that was probably just his hormones getting to him. He walked rather quickly through the streets, expertly dodging people when it got too crowded, though he was constantly looking back to make sure Helena was keeping up. If she wasn't, he'd slow down a little bit until she caught up. Every time he looked back, he lost his focus in her eyes or her face, occasionally her small frame, but he always did his best to shake it out of his head and get back to what he was doing. She was beautiful. He led her on to the gardens and, when he got there, he looked out and saw little patches of damage that had accumulated from visits from him and his friends, but the rest was beautiful. There were all sorts of flowers and there were fountains placed throughout the area. He put his hand on her shoulder and said, "This is almost as beautiful as you. And it's had its share of rough times, too."

Why does he keep looking at me like that...?
You're just now noticing? You're just about as clueless as a small child.
You stay out of this!
What will you do? Punch me?
Tch...
Helena was brought to an area filled with gardens... There were flowers everywhere one looked, even amongst the most worn conditions. Fountains also found a place here... But she felt uneasy. There was just so much... water... That memory always haunted her mind--drowning in that lake. No matter how many times she tried to take a breath, her lungs would fill with water. She'd flail about in the water, but her efforts were fruitless. The surface felt like miles from there, and her limbs were feeling vague and numb... Bubbles of precious, precious air would rise up past her, up to the surface where she knew she couldn't reach in time...
Her mind was going numb, and she sunk silently into the depths...
Helena's hand flitted up to her neck as she tried to breathe for air. She was back here again, in that garden. Saxen tried to say something to her, but the memory kept haunting her. She nodded absent-mindedly, stuck in that moment once more.
She was giving him a blank look. . . that couldn't be good. Her hand was at her throat and her eyes seemed unfocused. Something was seriously wrong. He turned her to be facing him and grabbed both of her shoulders. "Hey, are you okay?" His mind was racing. He lightly shook her and repeated his question. Something had to have caused this. . . He tried to think. Maybe. . . maybe it was something about the garden. That was the best conclusion he could come up with, though it didn't seem like a very good one. Having nothing else to go on, he went with it. He picked her up (man, she was light) and carried her away from the garden, talking to her the whole time, trying to make it less awkward if she was still fairly aware. "Y'know, I feel really bad, now. I mean, I try and show you this beautiful garden and this happens." He offered a smile to try and help get his attempted humor across. "I've had to carry far too many people in situations like this, too. . . in battles, people get wounded. We have a lot more injured women and children, too, with the Heartless. They attack anyone." He set her down on a bench and sat next to her, keeping a hand on her shoulder and looked into her eyes. It was always said that someone's eyes could tell you a lot about them. He hoped that his eyes could tell her how badly he wanted to help her.
