In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

"Don't worry, I'm fine... It's just a--whoah!" Before she could finish her slightly vague sentence, Helena was whisked away into Saxen's arms and away they went from the garden. He tried to talk to her on the way there, to get her mind away from that horrible scene... That drowning sensation... Eventually, the water cleared away and the air didn't feel as heavy anymore. She found that her arms had been instinctively wrapped around Saxen's neck, holding on for dear life. Except for the times when she was a young child, Helena had never been carried around like this, especially on the account of a hellish memory.
Eventually he set her down on a bench. She let go softly, still a bit haunted by that day death almost claimed her. The memory was starting to fade again, and the tsundere fell into step with her former self. Though she wasn't nearly as excited, Helena seemed to still have a bit of kindness cutting through the cold. Rust-like eyes settled on him, on those very eyes that were pained with the thought of having helped brought on the memory. She didn't really blame him, but as her cynicism kicked in again, she figured everyone made a stupid mistake once in a while.
"I'm fine, really... It was just a memory... But thank you," She explained to him, unable to keep back her chilling attitude, the one that always shunned people. He'd saved her, though, and he deserved something other than her cold, nearly mocking tone.
Why was it so hard to be warm when you controlled fire?
"I'm fine, really... It was just a memory... But thank you."
Saxen sighed and shook his head. He knew a lot about memories, both good and bad, and how they could affect a person. A lot of it was how you choose to deal with it, but, even then, some could be hard. He had two friends that had gone through a similar experience, but the way they dealt with it had been completely different. One had turned his past into a passion and a drive, and he had become one of the best soldiers in Anhnyqueg. The other had let it fester and closed herself off from everyone else. It made her into someone she wasn't. He thought back to what little conversation they had had. Her trust had been broken. "Care to tell me about this memory? It'd do you good to share it, to trust someone with it. I promise, I won't break your trust if you give it to me." He gave her a warm smile and sat back, looking at her. He hoped things went well. He really did. Not just for his sake, either. He felt like she deserved something good.

He wants to know what happened?
Only one other person had cared enough to ask that question with meaning similar to Saxen's. That person was Hero. She didn't want to tell the others her past, but she did. It was a story she didn't enjoy to tell. But for some reason, his assurances were calming enough that she willed herself to drag out the words once again. At least they weren't near water, so the air didn't feel nearly as heavy as Helena told her story one more time.
"Even though it's hard for me to tell the story, the only way someone can fully grasp that memory is to hear everything that happened... I came from a place called Moonlit Lake. My father was pretty much the leader of the community, since he ran the force known as SCARECROW, which is anti-Heartless. There was this belief that his organization was completely righteous and could do no wrong. They used this advantage to throw innocent people into this cave in the middle of the lake where they could not escape. The cave was also teeming with Heartless. I went there every night to save those people. Everyone knew I was different and they agreed to get rid of me. My father was the one to take me out to this cave... He gave me his sword and then the world fell to darkness... The Heartless were starting to come onto the boat... I discovered my powers but then I fell into the lake and nearly drowned... That's why I can't be near water. I'm... kinda afraid of it."
It felt good to get this secret off her chest. She had always kept her phobia to herself... Did Hero even know that she was afraid of water?
That was. . . appalling. He had always hated his own father, but hers had his beat big-time. He could feel the anger welling up inside him. This just wasn't right. . . people shouldn't do things like that. The injustice of it all. . . His fists were clenched as he spoke, though his voice didn't let near as much of his anger drip into it. In fact, it was still very close to the nurturing tone he had been trying to keep. "Your father did that to you? He left you to the heartless? Vik a wan akapu. . . I'm sorry. . ." The anger passed as he realized that there was nothing he could do, now, and it was channeled into compassion. He just wanted to help her that much more. He took a deep breath to run their fathers out of his mind. He couldn't stand what they had done, but it was over now, so he moved on. He noticed that he had ended up staring at the ground after he finished speaking, so he turned back to Helena. "So, you're afraid of water?" He smiled at her. "We'll have to do something about that, won't we?" He got up and offered his hand to her. "Would you be willing to try going back to the garden with me? It would mean a lot to me if you would."

"G-go back?"
The idea was absolutely insane to her. Go back and do what? Start drowning again? Maybe he was just trying to help out. She didn't blame him for that much--she intervened in people's affairs in order to help them out herself. It was just the fact that she could barely drink water without feeling a twinge of fear. Of course, there would be a day that she would have to get over her fear of water. Perhaps that day was today. Still... There was certainly a lot of uneasiness involved in just the thought of it alone.
"W-What are we going to do when we get there? I'm not sure... But I'll go with you, because somehow, I think I already trust you."
Guy's practically tripping over himself. You don't need someone else after you.
I'm just trying to be nice...
Is that so, my little Helena? My, what a grown up woman you are.
Still my body. I'm in control here, and I don't need your input on anything. Just... put a sock in it.
The girl crossed her arms over her chest almost as if to make herself as small as possible. In reality, she didn't want to go. Deep down, though, the tsundere really did want someone else to trust... Hero was already there on her list. Maybe Saxen could be up there with him.
Saxen put his hand on her back and led her gently back toward the garden. He knew what it was like, trying to get over fears. Trying to learn how to fly on bats while being afraid of heights wasn't easy, but he had had people help him through it in the past. It wasn't easy, but they were all there with him through it and they forced him to go beyond where he was comfortable. Yeah, he cried, but he got through it and was better for it. As they got closer to the garden, he started talking. "I know what it's like to be scared, everyone does. If you start feeling like it's too much, just tell me. I promise, I'm gonna do my best to make this as easy as possible for you. Just remember, I'm gonna be with you, so nothing bad is gonna happen, okay?" He slid his arm up so that it was around her shoulders and put his other hand on her shoulder. "Just trust me."
