In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Zephyrus groaned and put his right hand over his right eye. "Who...?" He said softly as he opened his eyes. He was greeted by a blonde human, almost right in his face. Zephyrus' eyes widened as he stared at the person.
"Oh, great, you're finally awake. I was worried about how long you were going to slee-" But the man's sentence was cut as Zephyrus screamed, pushing the man away. He scrambled up to his feet and realized there were humans everywhere. Some of them stared at him and at the blonde guy he had pushed over, his breathing quickened before he quickly fled. He ran as quick as he could, he didn't know where he was running to exactly, but he definitely wanted to return back to the ocean.
"Hello, Kupo!" A white thing with a red pom-pom said, suddenly flying in his face. Zephyrus' panic rose. He pushed the creature away and kept running, thinking to himself, "Flying cats! What's next?!" He pushed open a large set of doors, barely slowing down in his running.
For a moment he looked behind him, as if to check if anyone was following, but as he turned his head to look back in front, it was too late for him to stop. He ran right over the short wall of the balcony. He couldn't even scream, he just covered his face with his arms as he fell, expecting his body to hit the painful concrete. He landed, but on something else. It definitely wasn't concrete, but he was still too shocked to check was he landed on. His face was still covered by his hands.

That's all the boy saw. That's all the boy could comprehend. For the briefest of moments, Leiz Ryada had experienced unconsciousness, the very baffling state of a fractured, incoherent existence.
Of all concurrent thoughts that floated about in the space of his mind, however, one had taken prevalence. It had always taken prevalence. It was an overt thought that all rational, sentient and free-thinking lifeforms had experienced. "Have I died? Is this it? Have I made the most of my time?"
Leiz pondered these things as his heart throbbed, affirming an unfathomable truth that even in the darkest of places, life could thrive. Realizing his circumstances, Leiz effortlessly began to entwine his strings of thought together to reconstruct his mind once again.
His eyes opened to see the Second District's familiar courtyard ... the Chapel and its bell ... the shops ... and concrete. His tongue tasted concrete. Spewing saliva mixed with a hint of dirt and lint, the emerald-haired boy coughed, suddenly noticing the pressure of a heavy load resting upon his back and spine. Winded, he struggled and writhed to come to his feet, but alas - his lithe frame had its limitations.
The weight's shape was unquestionably humanoid. Certain of what had just happened to him, Leiz let out an angry huff at the mysterious individual sitting upon his back, not even able to rear his head around to see. "Agghh - gack! - get the hell offa me!"

Slowly, Zephyrus opened his eyes. Peeking through the small gaps between his fingers, he realized how much more empty this place seemed. Though bright lights lit up the buildings around him, it seemed almost devoid of life. The sound of a fountain, he could hear. He almost felt like just covering his face again and going to sleep, like waking up from a dream, but he felt the soft cushion he landed on shifting slightly.
Zephyrus' ears perked up and before he could get a chance to remove his hands from his face and look at what he actually did land on, he was suddenly yelled at. Shocked, Zephyrus practically rolled off the figure, quickly pushing himself up to his knees. He stared at the figure, suddenly realizing it was a human.
"Oh god..." Zephyrus grunted softly as he pushed himself up to his feet. Not only did he just run into another human, but he actually landed on one. Zephyrus shivered slightly as he thought about what the humans might do to him now that he aggravated one, but as he tried to run, his legs felt almost paralyzed, out of pure shock and fear. He stared at the person, before in the blink of an eye, his spear was summoned into his hands. "I-I have a weapon!" He stuttered, as if trying to scare the person off. But he was trembling quite obviously, a short pause, before he mumbled softly. "pleasejustdon'tkillme"
Feeling the weight shift and leave his backside, Leiz pushed down with both of his hands to bring himself back to his feet. To his surprise, the most intriguing and unique creature had made itself known to his line of sight. It was a tall, male humanoid, endowed with two, fish-like ears and some of the most azure locks of hair that the boy had ever seen.
Quite immediately, he could already discern that the individual before him was not from this world. It was even more clear that he wasn't from Traverse Town when he had suddenly brandished an exotic spear out of thin air. Bewildered at this sudden display of aggression, Leiz almost came to the conclusion that he was intending on making enemies ... until a few certain words had escaped the male's mouth.
"I - I have a weapon! ... pleasejustdon'tkillme."
Dropping a combative stance that he had nearly completely assumed, Leiz shot the strange man a doubting, cynical glare. He seemed convinced that the male before him wasn't really ready to swing a spear like that around, never mind start a fight with just any random stranger. Chuckling slightly, he observed the azure-haired humanoid's posture, sensing his nervousness.
"Kill you?" Leiz asked with a raised brow, folding his arms over his torso. "Pfft, don't be ridiculous. I just wanna give you a good smack for that. Newbies to Traverse Town tend not to watch where they're going."
As the human got up, he clung to his spear tighter. The immense amount of fear in him was almost like the time he was discovered when scouting in Ellisande. As the human female shot him a glare, Zephyrus almost look like he twinged slightly. As if he was expecting the person to do something. His eyes clenched for a moment, but as he heard the person chuckling, he opened them slightly to look at her. She started to speak and Zephyrus was somewhat surprised at what she said. But...
"T-Traverse Town...?" He said, staring at the person, "Traverse Town?" He repeated again, as if he had just learnt a new word. Another short pause as he thought for a moment, before asking, "So you won't kill me?" He stared at the human, before speaking again, his voice full of doubt. "H-How I know you are saying truth?" He stuttered, his nervousness causing him to, for a moment, forget what words to use in English. "You are human after all, even if female..."
Leiz's eyes twitched as those all-too-familiar words reached his ears, irking him and tearing at his heart like no heartless could. Every day, it tore at him. The bitter reality that no one would immediately accept him as a man. Forever, they'd always see him as a wench. Another helpless woman that needed to be saved. Or an object of affection and adoration.
Overcome with a twinge of rage, the boy grit his teeth as he glared upon the stranger. Leaning towards the strange humanoid with an angered demeanor, Leiz cracked his knuckles slowly. "Female ... ?! Shit, not only are you new, you're a dumbass to boot."
"I'm going to make one thing clear, man. I'm a man. And yeah, I hate to break this to you, but - your world's kaput. That's why you're here," he explained in a hushed tone. Becoming considerably tense, Leiz felt like reaching for his sidearm, but, truthfully - he couldn't do that. Not until he was attacked first. He may have not been all that principled, but there was often never a good reason to just point a pistol at someone else.
As Zephyrus finished speaking, the human seemed so amazingly angry. Zephyrus' ears drooped in fear as the shorter human seemed almost intimidating as she glared so fiercely. What was it that he had said wrong? Perhaps he shouldn't have questioned whether or not the human was lying or not...
The human seemed infuriated. Zephyrus trembled visibly, this person was male? but he seemed so... Zephyrus twinged as the... the boy... explained to him what was going on. And that he was male. The tone scared him to no end. But what he was saying... Zephyrus remembered the world falling into darkness right before he woke up here... Perhaps he was saying the truth. Are humans here not wanting to kill Atha'an Miere...?
"S-Sorry..." Zephyrus apologized, his spear disappearing in a soft flash. "I-I just thought you were female becau-" He stopped midsentence, realizing that saying what he was about to say may get him into more trouble with the human. "Sorry..." He repeated again, "It... It's just that humans are quite dangerous..." A short pause, and he added, "From where I come from, I mean." He said, still trying to understand this whole 'other places' thing.
Satisfied with that answer as a reason for the stranger's hostility and confusion, Leiz attempted to calm himself down and lowered his guard once more. He sensed fear in the being's words - another sign that, truly, this male was not intending on searching for a fight. Those who were clearly looking for a brawl were the kinds of people that irked Leiz the most.
Seeing that he had a modicum of restraint, Leiz developed a small bit of admiration for the individual, though it was somewhat belittled by a growing suspicion that his new acquaintance was lacking in the 'backbone' department. Leiz forwent the desire to pass judgment on him, feeling not too certain about where to place the azure-haired male on a hypothetical spectrum of likability.
"Humans are dangerous where you're from? So ... humes from your world are total dicks to people with fish ears ...? ... doesn't sound familiar to me." Leiz paused, scratching at his cheek briefly before jumping to the true heart of the matter: who was this guy, and where was he from? "What's your name? And where are you from?"
Seeing that the human was relatively calmer, Zephyrus almost sighed, glad that his apology and explanation was okay. He nervously held at his right arm as he looked at the human. He did feel a little need to be cautious though--It's hard to suddenly get used to and accept that a race that has been wanting to kill you and your race all your life in just a moment. Though he did feel that this human was a good guy, but still...
"A-Ah... well technically there is a war between my race and the humans." Zephyrus replied, answering the boy's question. "And my race isn't called 'people with fish ears', we are called the Atha'an Miere. The war has actually been going on for a while, before I was born. Though technically I wouldn't say only humans kill Atha'an Miere, it can be the other way round sometimes too."
Zephyrus stared at the boy, before he asked another question. What his name is and where he came from. "Ah, my name is Zephyrus. Zephyrus Aphiansus al'Thor III. But you can just call me Zephyrus, or even Zephy if you want." He said, managing a friendly smile despite his slight fear. "The... world that I'm from is called Ellisande... Similarly, what is your name? And... where might you be from? Are you from this place, Traverse Town?" Whilst where the boy comes from is not a big matter to Zephyrus, he thought that it's something he might as well just ask anyway, since he asked Zephyrus where he was from.
"Not even," the green-haired boy replied, running a hand through his hair. He winced slightly as he felt his fingers contact the bruise that had only recently been inflicted, a small huff of pain escaping his lips. Looking at the male who had revealed himself to be 'Zephyrus' - more specifically his arms, taking note of his gesture of insecurity - Leiz continued to speak. "Leiz Ryada. I'm from a world called Belevadia."
Wherever Ellisande was, it was of no familiarity or immediate importance to the boy. It sounded a lot like another relatively unknown planet amongst the countless stars in the universe, and unfortunately for them, it didn't seem like Gummi Ships had ever come about. Leiz could never sympathize, however, keeping in mind that he had never lost someone close. Hearing about someone else's misfortune was a lot like reading the morning newspaper - factual, brief, and emotionally unconcerning.
"So, a war, huh ... interesting. I've never been in one," Leiz continued, commenting on the nature of the Atha'an Miere's circumstances. Pocketing his hands in what appeared to be a rather loose, black windbreaker, he leaned back against the fountain's concrete ring, gesturing for Zephyrus to come sit near him. Not that he actually wanted him to, or anything - but he knew that a few certain creatures would be showing up sooner or later. He couldn't exactly let a new possible ally fall prey to a group of measily shadows. "You might want to come sit over here so you've got a full view of the district. It's not exactly safe here, you know."
"Ahh... Never heard of that place... Regardless, it is nice to meet you, Leiz. I'm so sorry for my.. ahh... my behaviour earlier." Zephyrus bowed his head slightly as if a way of apologizing. Belevadia...? What an odd name. All things considering, Traverse Town was an odd name too. Perhaps all the other worlds would have odd names. How many worlds would there be anyway? Those thoughts ran through his head as he pondered momentarily.
Zephyrus noticed Leiz wince as he ran his hand through his hair. "Eh... Did you get a bruise? Would you like me to heal that for you? It's the least I could do." Zephyrus asked with a bit of concern, reaching his hand out slightly before pulling it back. Though he would often heal those things for people right away, he figured it wouldn't be so polite with someone he only just met.
"And yes.. a war. It's... not very pleasant. Though I've gotten used to it," He said with a smile. Zephyrus watched as the boy sat down at the fountain, then quickly sat down near him at the fountain. Zephyrus looked at it curiously, running his hand under one of the mini-waterfalls. He'd never seen one of these in Ellisande, it certainly looked quite nice. Zephyrus then turned his head to look at the boy, "Not exactly safe...? What do you mean? It doesn't seem like there are any dangerous things here..." He said, turning his head to look around the area, as if checking for any possible dangers.
Leiz had reared his head away long before Zephyrus had shown that bit of hesitance, not the least bit impressed with his offer. Magic was, for the most part, one of those kind of things he tended to stay away from. Something about it seemed to make him just a tad tense. Maybe even a bit anxious. "It's just a flesh wound. Geez, you get a few inches within a concussion and suddenly every spellcaster starts thinking you had a limb cut off."
Looking over at Zephyrus, the boy was frankly a bit surprised that he hadn't heard of heartless. How could anyone have lost their world without having seen them at least once? Few individuals have ever survived a world's collapse without learning of the existence of heartless. But, baffled as he may have been, he shook off his surprise, focusing on the matter at hand. "Traverse Town is where people tend to go after their worlds have been lost to ... 'darkness'. But, even then, Traverse Town isn't all gravy. Two-thirds of the place is overrun with creatures called heartless. It's a constant battle for residents here to keep these areas safe."
"I think it would be wise if we left this area as soon as possible. The more hearts there are, the more that'll come running," he explained, gesturing for them to head backwards with his left hand. However, little had Leiz known, Zephyrus's fear of the human race wasn't being quite considered. It was already a bit of a stretch that the two could talk without there being a great degree of animosity.
It felt like a wave of guilt washed over Zephyrus as Leiz denied his offer with much irritation. Instead of helping the boy, he had him even more irritated it seemed. Zephyrus opened his mouth, a silent moment, then just said, "I'm sorry..." He turned his head to look down at his feet, twiddling his fingers.
As Leiz explained about the possible dangers, Zephyrus looked back at him, his ears perked up noticeably. Despite what Leiz thought, Zephyrus knew what Heartless were. He just didn't know that they were in other places. "Heartless? I know what those are. They appeared in my world, before it... yeah. Before it 'lost to darkness' thing." Zephyrus felt particularly nervous when saying that, it was almost like saying oh you know my world is gone yadda yadda. Even if it might be true, that doesn't mean it wasn't uncomfortable for him. "It must be really hard. You know, with constant battles."
"Ah, okay." Zephyrus nodded slightly as Leiz suggested they leave. He probably was right too, Zephyrus took one more wary glance around the area, before he stood back up. Zephyrus actually almost felt quite tense, if Leiz was getting them to move, it then means that they would be moving to the safer area. Zephyrus assumed that area would be the place where he had earlier woken up at, crowded place. It was inexplicably nerve-wracking, but... Hopefully if this human is telling the truth, maybe this really is another world, and maybe these humans are different. "S-So which way are we going? Up that way?" He asked, gesturing at the balcony he fell off only moments ago.
The boy was surprised to hear from Zephyrus that he actually knew about the heartless, even though it seemed like he didn't based on the context. It was naivete, not ignorance, that was responsible for the azure-haired male's poor judgment concerning Traverse Town. "Not really. I know how to fight, though I'm not really a brute by any means. There are a lot of people out there who like to fight the heartless for fun, though ..."
"And don't get your panties in a bunch about the healing thing, man," Leiz mentioned as a side-note, getting back up from the fountain's concrete ring. He took a quick glance over at Zephyrus as he prepared to use the fountain as a foothold. "I can take care of myself, alright? And yeah, up this way."
Leiz turned around and hoisted himself up onto the ring. In spite of his shorter height, it seemed that he intended on getting to the First District by means of climbing over the fountain. It was of no challenge to him as he set his feet upon the stonework and grappled an extruding point of the fountain, exuding a certain kind of expertise. He repeated this labor two or three more times along the vertical surface of the statue until he was well above it and on top of the stone terrace.
"I know that this is kinda unconventional, but you're gonna thank me later." Reaching down with one arm for the atha'an miere to grab, Leiz braced his feet against the corner of the terrace.

"Who'd want to fight the Heartless for fun..." Zephyrus mumbled to himself, as he watched Leiz get up. Though all things considering, back in Ellisande there used to be tournaments that were held, just for fun. But friendly competitions was a lot different than hunting these monsters. It's like... well Zephyrus didn't see how that could be amusing.
As Leiz hoisted himself up onto the concrete ring, Zephyrus followed suit, wondering what he was actually doing. Then he realized he was actually going to climb up the balcony, instead of going up those stairs that were at the sides of the district. Zephyrus decided not to question, he probably asked too many questions either way, Leiz knew what he was doing. Zephyrus watched as the shorter boy managed to make his way up with little problem. As the boy reached an arm down, Zephyrus took it, using it as support as he himself made his way up. Though a little bit slower than Leiz, Zephyrus had also made his way up with few problems, considering he also had the boy's arm.
Once he made his way up, he let go of Leiz's arm. "Thanks." He said as he got up to his feet and brushed at his pants, as if brushing off dirt or dust.
