In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Light snow covered the streets of the first district, painting them a pure white, in contrast to the black sky above. This was rather strange to one of the world's residents, Malum, as he had not experienced anything like this back on his world. He was definitely out of his element in this weather. His arms were held to his sides, in defiance of the coldness that persisted over him and the streets.
He didn't have his apartment to return to anymore so there was no where to stay warm at night. He had survived by sleeping in the waterways but he found out this morning that they had become even colder than the streets outside. His teeth started to chatter on instinct and in response he found a corner between the wall and the stairway to stay in. "S-seems I'm h-having the w-w-worst luck..." Malum spoke, stuttering from having his teeth continuing to try chatter.
Malum lacked warm clothing due to him having only his school uniform and lacking the munny to buy something else. He curled himself into a ball as he gripped his legs with his arms tightly. When would this coldness end, when would the snow stop falling? A question that lacked an answer that he felt he desperately needed.
Shouta, nothing to do still had taken to walking around the safe areas of Traverse Town. Although he had a place to stay and food, he was still broke. Which was bad. Because Sol told him money was important here. It was a good thing Sol could pay for his room, though, or he'd be sleeping in the streets.
Like the boy curled up in a ball in the middle of a wall and the stairs that led to the large, icky sewers. The boy was definitely bigger then him, but curiously enough seemed to be shivering. Shouta wondered why for a moment, before recalling that not everyone here had an innate resistance against the cold.
Sol had told him time and time again to stay away from strangers, but the boy seemed harmless enough, so the ice fairy skipped over. "Hi!" he said brightly. Thinking for a moment, he kneeled beside him and placed a hand on the boy's arm and halved away the chill that seemed to bother the poor guy so.
Malum lifted his eyes to meet the young boy who spoke to him. He was wearing clothing which by looks probably wasn't helping in this weather. This alone was quick to catch his attention. Before he had a chance to say anything the boy had placed a hand on him and almost like magic the majority of his chill seemed to disappear. Many alarms were going off in his head about this kid, though he felt no malicious intent.
"Hello..." Malum's teeth had stopped chattering so he could speak fine but his lack of trust led him to not say much. Malum organized his thoughts as to what to say, there was an obvious connection between the boy touching him and the lack of coldness he felt so a thanks would be required at the minimum. "Thanks... I take it you're a cryokinetic?" If the boy was then he may be similar, in that of being an abnormal. A small smile lit his face at this possibility but whether true or not he was happier to no longer feel cold.
It didn't seem like the guy would be getting up anytime soon (Maybe he was hurt or something, because Shouta had seen many people, especially old men with bottles littered around them lying or sitting about, passed out. Sol said they were hurt, so they fainted..) so he spread out his dress so it wouldn't get wrinkly as usual. It was a good thing snow coated the probably dirty ground.
Shouta's face fell. "No," he whined, distressed. "I haven't cried for a long time," he pouted, half-lying. Maybe he had been a little upset the other night thinking of his parents, but it wasn't right of the guy to call him a crying kid sis, was it? Heterochromic eyes stared at the guy curiously. What was he doing on the streets?
Malum chuckled slightly at the boy's misunderstanding of the term, cryokinetic. He probably hadn't heard the term before but he wouldn't mind explaining a little. "I wasn't calling you a crier, I meant that you have control over ice. It'd explain why with just a touch you managed to ward it." Malum chuckled a little more, it was obvious that this boy wasn't from his world but why would he? He hadn't met anybody else from his former home and doubted he ever would.
"As to why I'm not at home, well I don't have a home to return to anymore. But it's nothing for you to be concerned with..." He'd rather not drag what seemed to be an innocent kid into his problems. His eyes met the kids again and he noticed the strangeness of them, one blue, one green, that was strange even by his standards. His eyes closed slightly as he turned them away from the boy's.
"Speaking of being at home, why aren't you at your's?" Malum felt it was a legitimate question, the kid could be an easy target for heartless if he lacked the ability to defend himself. He cringed slightly at the idea, he disliked those sort of thoughts but they always seemed to flow through his head.
Ward it? Well, he definitely could control ice. "Yes," Shouta chirped happily although he was feeling rather blur at the moment. He had met, well, uhm, more likely bothered lots of people back at the hotel probably, but he was bored. There was nothing to do, which was horrible. All he did was walk around town and the hotel, occasionally running into the catboy waitress.
Shouta's eyes widened and his head tilted slightly. No home? That was terrible. "Why not?" he frowned. Only those bad creatures in the second and third districts didn't have homes. And this guy definitely didn't look or feel like those annoying Heartless things.
"'Ish boring there," Shouta sulked. It wasn't like the hotel room didn't have a view or anything, but all he saw was buildings and stuff that weren't pretty trees or sandy beaches. Sol was always mostly too busy to play or even talk to him, and he was so very lonely too. His parents were gone, Sol was his only friend...he touched the ice necklace sadly with his free hand. It was so irritating when happy couples holding hands walked past him.
Malum sighed deeply as he uncurled his legs, his body language unconsciously changing to show his relaxed mind. Where to begin... "Well I suppose it's due to my world being swallowed, but also because I lack the munny to continue paying the rent on the apartment I was staying in." Malum's words drug up some more painful thoughts but he pushed them down, trying to at least show a little bit of happiness in front of the younger boy.
Malum started chuckling again at the kid's excuse being that it was boring. "Well I'd suppose in peace and warmth boredom is bound to arise... but that's how it should be." Malum's words trailed off slightly as his mind went off to imagine the 'peaceful' days he had on his world. He shook his head slightly, he didn't need to get stuck in the past, or else he wouldn't be able to move forward.
Malum finally stood up and saw that he was quite taller than the boy before him. "If you'd like we could go have some fun, because it'll just end up as boring talking to me as it would if you stayed at home." A smile lit his face as he thought of things to do in this town.
"Oh," Shouta said sadly, empathizing. Sol told him of the harsh truth of what probably had happened to his world, but up to then he never really thought about it, preferring to think he was on some kind of vacation. A long vacation. A long vacation from which he could never see his parents again. With another person who lost his world, Shouta felt a slight ache - the only two people he had known all his life were gone, and so he was alone.
He didn't have money either, but he supposed one wolfboy couldn't really pay for many people staying in hotels. Releasing the guy as he watched him stand, somewhat towering above the ice fairy, he smiled back. "That sounds great!" he said brightly, sure it was to take both their minds off their lost worlds. Grabbing one of his hands with his own to let the older male guide and devouring the chill at the same time, he added, "My name's Shouta ♪!"
Malum nodded his head at the young boy, finally having a name to attach to him. "I'm Malum Nihil, Malum will be just fine though." Malum was actually rather happy at this point, he found a nice guy that managed to ward off the cold and provided some company while doing so. The only possible problem was what people would think of seeing a young man and a boy walking together and holding hands. He just hoped nobody was out or at least didn't notice lest he be accused of something foul.
"Well there isn't much to do in Traverse Town, but I suppose there is one place that's sorta fun." Malum pondered over the idea, he had some munny to spend thanks to getting his deposit back but he wondered if the kid would enjoy himself. "Do you know what karaoke is?" Malum asked in response to his thoughts, he didn't know what Shouta liked so he had to take shots in the dark. Malum found the idea rather enjoyable but it wasn't for him, but Shouta. If he said no he'd have to think up something else to do.
What a strange name. But then again, he'd never really heard many names. They were probably stranger ones out there. "Malum," Shouta echoed sweetly. He still wasn't too sure how polite was he supposed to be around other people, it had just been around a week since he was tossed into Traverse Town after all. He was still nervous and scared of people, and was very liable to do anything a person said as long as they were harsh or just plain scary.
Well, he thought indignantly, at least he stopped curtseying.
It was a good thing Malum was a nice guy and probably wasn't going to take advantage of him, but he didn't have any advantages to take in the first place, did he? What did Sol mean by that..never mind, he'd ask him when the chance came.
"Ka-raoke~? Shouta frowned. That sounded familiar. It had something to do with buildings. Kara, kara, oke♪
Oh, that was it! Singing place. Or something like that. "Oh, oh, singing's fun," he replied happily, then remembered his manners. "Oh, oh, but do you like it? You should enjoy yourself too," he said seriously, eyes wide.
Malum's smile brightened, relieved that he had an idea of something to do. "I do enjoy singing but this is to hold off your boredom, not mine." Malum began walking to a 2 story building, it was rather nondescript except for it's neon pink sign hanging above the door holding the places name. A name he would never think to call a place that was for karaoke, 'Bubblez!'. He had been there once when he was exploring this place when he first arrived at Traverse, but had never had a reason to go back.
As they walked in he let go of Shouta's hand, no longer needing the cold held back as the place was somewhat warm. He walked up to the counter, asked for a card and payed the munny required without saying much to the man behind the counter. "Come on, the rooms are on the second floor," he said as he proceeded towards and up the stairs.
He walked down the hall and found the room marked L and slid the card along the reader on the side of the door. The door unlocked with a 'click' and when Malum opened it his eyes met a rather bizarre sight. Well not so much bizarre as unbelievably peppy and pink. The owner was either out of his mind or marketing to someone not from his side of the fence. "Well..." Malum was at a loss for words and so he simply held the door for his younger companion.
"Oh, thank you," Shouta said cheerfully. What a nice guy. Surely he wouldn't, uh, steal his advantages. He looked around curiously as they walked, looking at the many, brightly-lit buildings around them. It took some time for him to get accustomed to all the lighting - even all of the lights in his house on couldn't match the light of one of those weird bars. Dark Intentions or something. Why name it Dark, when it was really bright? Wouldn't that deter people, dark and all..
They soon reached a large building named Bubblez. Well. It didn't look very bubbly. Shouta quite expected to be made of bubbles maybe. That would be fun. In reality though, it was just a large building that looked nothing like bubbles. Following closely behind Malum and shooting equally curious looks at the curious people, quickly went up with him, alarmed and scared of being left behind.
Malum opened the door with a card. It was like some of the more expensive rooms in the hotel, whoosh and the light turned green, then you got to enter. He used a key though - he patted the pocket on his rump carefully, feeling the keys safe and nodding to himself. If they were lost, well, he'd cost Sol more money. Munny. However they spelled it here.
The inside of the room was pink. And bright. But there were still not the slightest trace of a bubbly. Half-dissapointed, Shouta watched as Malum seemed to wait for him to enter, so he did. He waited for Malum to sit as well, before hopping straight on a nice, upbeat song called Fireworks.
Malum entered the room and softly closed the door once Shouta was in. He had hopped on the little machine almost soon as he had come in, and realizing he was waiting on him he was quick to take a seat.
He let Shouta sing whichever songs he wanted and Malum joined in here and there, trying to enjoy himself as much as he could. He wore a smile with pleasure as he was happy to be able to relieve the boy of his boredom. By the time an hour had passed Malum had felt his throat start to protest, he hadn't sung for quite some time, much less have to speak this much to someone else in a while.
At the end of it all Malum was back in his original seat, breathing rather deeply, rather surprised that he'd be worn out just from singing. "Hey, Shouta," Malum started to speak the wear and tear on his voice somewhat evident. "If you'd like we could continue or go and try and find something else to do..." Despite this choice Malum was really hoping he'd choose the second.
Thoroughly enjoying himself, the time just flew past, Shouta finding himself perched at the end of the seat, putting down the mic and stretching his arms. He had so much fun, but he was getting a little sore. Blinking at how weird Malum sounded, he giggled when he realized how the older male probably wasn't used to singing nonstop.
"Sure!" Shouta agreed. Too much of a good thing was bad and all that after all, and he was interested to see what else Traverse Town had to offer. This was in fact the most fun he had since he got here, finally, something to do that wasn't being cooped up in his room.
Malum let out a slight sigh of relief and stood up, stretching as to reawaken himself. He opened the door and let Shouta through first as he did earlier. As they proceeded downstairs Malum was thinking of what else there was to do but his stomach making a rather loud grumble interrupted his thoughts. He sheepishly scratched the back of his head at the rather embarrassing noise.
"You wouldn't mind if we grabbed something to eat first, would ya?" Malum spoke as if he and the boy were good friends but in truth he had only met him just about an hour ago. Maybe it was just him letting his guard drop, or just being able to have some fun despite the icky situation he was in. He dismissed it whether it was one or the other because those were thoughts for after he and the boy parted ways.
