In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

A sigh of relief was uttered as he heard Shouta say that his companion hadn't been staying in the room. His nervousness dropped down a couple of notches and he seemed to gain a little more control of what he was saying. It was an odd nickname for Sol to call him Wolfy though, and he pondered for a second what would inspire a nick name like that.
He laughed slightly as Shouta mentioned him being in danger. "Trust me, danger is something I rarely have to worry about. Perhaps I'll get a chance to show you." With that he stood up and left the munny for his meal on the table.
Malum held out his hand to Shouta and proceeded out the door, his eyes crossing the waiters on the waiter, a rather dark look held in his eyes. Out in the street the snow was starting to fall harder and he reminded himself to be sure to keep his footing. "Well we have a choice, second district... or third, I'd suggest the second as it's closer to the hotel."
(Sorta, least I'll have the beginning to Malum's journal.)
(Ahahahahahaha I have not edited my journal for weeks ahahaha...
Curse you laziness.)
For some reason, Malum looked audibly less nervous at once, sighing. Shouta stared at him in bemusement, it was like the older boy was scared of him.
Ooh, he was that intimidating?
Yay!
The black animals didn't seem to be very afraid of him, though, even when he made some ice swirl around him. They were evil. He needed to put a bandage after one of them scraped him the other day, those meanies.
Smiling in a confused manner which he did a lot these days, he jumped up and clung to Malum's hand and followed him out of the door, waving cheerfully to the waiter who strangely looked as black as thunder and seemed to be staring dagger at the two.
Hmm, maybe he was having a bad day.
"Ooh, and they said the third district has more hearties," Shouta said, recalling how everyone seemed to tell him to stay away from there.
"The Third District?" He wasn't sure if the boy was reckless or ignorant for offering that idea. If he went there he wouldn't think twice on bringing Shouta. "I don't think that's such a smart idea. The heartless would outnumber us much more than they would in the Second District."
He patted Shouta's head once more, enjoying the height difference. "Besides, I'll get enough Munny for a room in the Second District." He continued walking, with Shouta clinging to his hand and he began a short mental preparation before he had to fight. It was a simple process, a mantra and a clearing of thought and emotions. He told himself the Heartless couldn't feel, that they were a plague, that killing them was for the better. His breathing became even and his eyes that had held mirth and joy grew empty once more, and his smile became a blank canvas on which to write something else.
(A question, new thread or just continue in this one for the second district?)
"Oh? They would? Then let's not go there," Shouta said. He wondered why people didn't do something about it. If the place was that bad they could all just rush in and wipe out the Heartless! Ta-da! No more baddies. Or they could just demolish the place. No more Heartless!
...Why weren't they smarter..
Nuzzling into Malum's hand happily, Shouta walked with him with an occasional ice cube to crunch on. As they made their way to the district, Shouta wondered what he should do. He had never really killed anything before, except for mosquitoes because they were just that annoying. He exhaled a breath of condensed air and watched as the visible breath disappeared, giggling. He swung his free arm carefully, the tip of his fingers as well as his necklace glowing in preparation for the unknown challenges ahead.
Arriving in the Second District he pulled his hand free of Shouta's grasp, and in an instant the chill of the wind came back. Malum shook his head slightly as he tried his best to ignore it. He walked a few paces ahead of Shouta and turned his head to the right, allowing a single eye to catch a glimpse of him.
"We're gonna try to make this quick and easy, I'll be taking the front, you just make sure to watch my back," Malum explained his rather simple plan but quickly reprimanded it. "Oh, but watch out for the little black things crawling along the ground, you won't be able to put a scratch on them while they're like that and they can easily get up next to you."
The shadow's were definitely near the top on his list of annoying heartless, if they weren't so weak they would be on top but that place was owned by their stronger cousin, Neo-Shadow's. He turned his head back to the front and took several more cautious steps forward, a slight crunch made with each step from the snow covering the ground.
When he got closer to the edge leading to the lower area of the Second District a sound like that of several voids opening made him stop his movement and tense up slightly as the Heartless made themselves known. He made a quick head count of them, 4 Shadow's, 1 Large Body, and 5 Red Nocturnes. The Shadow's stood in front with the Large Body behind them while the Red Nocturnes hover above them.
Malum stood there, waiting for the moment that they would make their move. He quickly summoned two screws to his hands. He held one by it's head and the other by the base of the shank.
(Thought this post was getting long so I decided to cut it short right here.)
(No such thing as too long :3 Only too short like mine Sorreh bout delay between poasts, curse school, business and damned injection ouch my arm.)
Wondering if Malum would feel chilly without him drawing away the cold, Shouta flounced forward next to his second "big brother", nodding and turning easily so his back was against Malum's, dress swishing about. He knew about the little black creatures, and they were so mean..they were so persistent and chased him all the way back to the First District.
The familiar, weird, poofy sound signaled the arrival of the evil black things. He noticed a few of the creatures that floated and shot fire, and recoiled slightly. He hated fire. So much. Oohing softly as Malum pulled out two humongous screws like two swords (Sort of like Sol did), probably as weapons. There were several long beats as the two stared at the Heartless who stared back, before Shouta span and pitched forward, hurling spheres of perfectly formed ice at the floaty red creatures that appeared to be charging as accurately as he could. Loud pings sounded as they were knocked backwards, out of their focus and Shouta giggled to himself as he blew on his hand, three icicles spiraling one after another at the huge fat creature.
(Don't worry about it, gave me time to create and submit Gig. Besides, so long as this thread doesn't end up dead before it's finished you can take your time.)
Malum was rather surprised at the boy's relaxed attitude and how quickly he adapted. It wasn't like the first time he encountered them, where he could do almost nothing but cower and run away, maybe he had gotten the wrong impression of Shouta but he quickly cut out those thoughts as he began to make his move. The grotesque blob of a heartless had a great amount of defense do to it's fat and the back and head where the place to aim for when fighting it. He quickly rushed forward, stabbing the screw in his left hand into a shadow and into the ground, impaling the creature, causing a black mist to rise as it dispersed.
He quickly hopped on top of the screw head, using it as a stepping stool to hop once more, this time over the Large Body so he could move around to it's back. Turning 180 degrees counter-clockwise he used the momentum to get enough force behind the screw in his right hand to impale the Large Body. Unlike the shadow it didn't dissipate but instead seemed to get rather angry. He then felt a slight shock wave as the icicles Shouta had fired hit the creatures front. The Large Body shrugged it off though and did a little jump as it attempted a belly flop, aiming to crush Shouta. Malum let go of the screw impaled in it, not wanting to be dragged along. He trusted that the boy would move out of the way and summoned another screw to his right hand. As he did this he felt a sharp pain in his back. He gasped in pain as he identified the sensation as a raking of claws.
"Damn it." Malum muttered softly as he fell forward and rolled along the ground, attempting to get away from the creature. He hadn't taken his own advice and let the shadow get behind him. His shirt was torn and his back had three lines going across it, all red and starting to bleed. Malum breathed in deeply, thinking he'd best deal with the shadows before attempting to deal with the Large Body again.
(It shall never end up dead >: D Just have to keep dragging up muse and forcing myself not to be lazy gah screw eet Ari the heck Also, R.I.P. Whitney Houston T.T)
To the ice fairy, this was little more than fun and games. It was like..like throwing darts at a target! Except he was freely exercising use over his powers for once. Giggling as he greatly enjoyed having no restrictions or secrecy (As other people here, he saw had magic powers too! Although some could throw fire around, and that was bad..) he skipped nimbly out of the way of a few fireballs, coating his shoes with ice so he could move faster.
Then came what sounded like a roar and Shouta looked up, surprised. It was the huge sumo-like Heartless...and it was flying. Soaring rather ungracefully, although he also looked as though he couldn't keep it much longer because he was getting bigger and bigger and closer and closer like he was trying to fall on -
EEK!
Alarmed, Shouta tried to slide out of the way but the light boy was easily sent flying after a loud crash and a massive shockwave of wind and earth driven up from the ground. He slammed into the Shadow that struck at Malum, rolling on the ground several times and laying still after he finally stopped, dazed.
Then he saw a few more of the Shadows crawling quickly towards him and instinct kicked in, nimbly flipping himself backwards back onto his feet and moving away while firing sphere after sphere after icicles, scared of the things now.
(The whole Whitney Houston thing was sorta an 'Eh' thing to me.)
Malum watched Shouta get blown away by the force of the belly flop from the Large Body and gritted his teeth. This was part of the reason he didn't want him to come along, but it seems that he had gotten knocked back into the reality of the situation afterword. When the shadow's had seemed to make Shouta their target, they had met an unexpected surprise from the ice shot at them. Malum quickly took advantage of this, running up to the nearest one, dazed by the icy blow, and in one motion shoved his hand out towards the shadow and summoned a screw, impaling the creature, dissipating it into black mist.
He summoned a second screw as he took target on one of the Red Nocturnes, tossing the screw at it. While not impaled, the Heartless took the full force of the hit and dissipated, this time leaving a gray heart which soared into the air. He had seen that happen in the past with other Heartless and had always wondered what made them different. He didn't have time to think now though as he edged his way towards Shouta.
"Almost there, just need to finish off a couple more... and of course him." He said this as he glanced at the Large Body as it started to get up, the creature rather dazed from his own belly flop.
Still shocked, Shouta wondered what he was supposed to do - why were they hurting him so, he had to hurt them back and it was all their fault. They started it, so they couldn't complain if they fought back. Nodding with wide eyes, Shouta raised his hand and shot a wispy draught of cold air upwards.
It seemed like nothing happened at first, until Shouta focused his energy and forcefully converted water vapor high above into solid ice. It was like he just froze a cloud, because cubes of ice started raining all around the Heartless, the occasional stray ice smacking the ice fairy himself.
Shouta'd freeze the ground, but Malum was here and tripping and falling was a lot more painful than it looked. Instead, he kept away from incoming Heartless and flung as many balls of snow as his energy would permit him, starting to tire from this sudden use of his powers.
(Probably heard the song, but I don't know which one you're talking about.)
The cold air and snow had proven to be quite the advantage for this skirmish, as Shouta displayed a useful ability, striking and stunning the enemy with blocks and cubes of ice. Malum rushed toward the heartless, not minding being pelted himself, intending to fix the damage once the heartless were dealt with. As he came upon each enemy he stabbed one screw through the dazed creature before moving on to the next.
The heartless started to dwindle down quickly, either killed off by the rain of ice or finished with a screw being their only grave marker. Malum had gotten out of the rain of ice, his body freezing, the pain numbing out. He breathed deeply, preparing himself for the shock he was about to feel. In a flash, all the wounds on Malum disappeared. His body no longer having a blueish hue from the frost and the claw marks had disappeared. While it seemed he was fine, he was kneeled over, his breathing quick and heavy, the pain from all those wounds coming back was something hard for him to endure.
He gave himself some time to recover before he stood up shakily, eyeing the 2 Red Nocturnes left and the Large Body, staring dumbfounded at the hail storm. Malum summoned another screw, while at the same time removing the others from the field, not wanting to 'screw' himself over with bad footwork.
The Heartless were falling quickly, which was good. The hail had stopped now, which was also good since falling ice cubes hurt a surprising lot. Nimbly flipping and dodging Heartless attacks that never seemed to end, Shouta felt that he would never ever work out like this ever again. He hadn't moved this much this fast for a while, and adding to his exhaust of powers was starting to tire.
Malum was using his huuuge screws. He was screwing all of the Heartless! With hard thrusts that penetrated the Heartless' squishy bodies. Suddenly he moved out of the way and Shouta stared at him. The ice fairy felt puzzled - then felt a burst of energy emitting from Malum. He stumbled forward, distracted and rammed into by a shadow.
"Oh, go - away!"
He swung around, closed his eyes and he started flailing his arms as he hurled dozens of snowballs as fast as he could at the shadow who hit him, not stopping long after the shadow was buried under the suffocating weight of ice and snow. Over and over his arms spun until he finally flopped onto the snow with a groan, noticing still the big Heartless and two red floaty Heartless left. Far too tired to do anything, he groaned again and felt the ice and snow he was lying on fuse back into him, hoping Malum was strong enough to defeat those mean, annoying things.
Three targets left, Malum was back in top condition, the pain subsiding and having all of his strength at his disposal. Shouta was exhausted and he needed to draw their attention first. He threw the screw in his hand at the Large Body. While it only struck against his body and bounced away it was enough to get it's attention. It seemed to start limbering itself up, before rushing toward him with a hop as the Red Nocturnes tried to catch up, intending on providing back up. It landed on it's belly and slid toward him, going at a decent pace.
Malum taking this chance jumped forward as the Heartless got close landing on the top of it's back, then jumping once more with a 360 spin to gain momentum, summoning two screws which he threw down at the Red Nocturnes, destroying the two of them. Malum landed turning around to see the Large Body standing back on his feet.
"Just gotta deal with you." Malum muttered summoning two screws to his hands, holding them by the head, crossing his arms before dashing at the Heartless. It swung it's giant fist in retaliation causing Malum to have duck and dash under his fist as he moved to the side of it. He then rose quickly stabbing one screw in it's head and a second in it's back.
The large creature lumbered forward, wobbling slightly, before falling, but disappearing in darkness before hitting the ground. Malum breathed in and out, slightly dazed and tired. He sat down, arms stretched out. His lilac eyes stared at the falling snow as he eyed some of the yellow balls of munny, dropped by their foes. He'd get it in a second though, he was just happy to be done with it.
Shouta felt energy surging inside him as he converted anything, everything cold. The snow and ice which he was lying on disappeared very quickly, leaving him with an unsatisfied sensation, much like someone who hadn't slept enough. Cranky. Very much upset with these annoying creatures. Malum, Shouta saw, was very energetic, not at all like a person who had been fighting these terrible things for so long. They were worse than mosquitoes. Mosquitoes just bit, but these things were - just horrible!
Whap.
"O-ow."
He had sucked up all the snow he was sitting on and fallen on the hard cement. Shouta watched, awed as Malum went ahead and struck down the other things, causing them to explode into little yellow balls. One small one dropped nearby, and he picked it up. It felt strange, smooth, and looked nothing like a normal ball. This one was too small, too.
"..Make necklaces with these?" Shouta mused out loud, tottering about and peering at each ball carefully.
Malum chuckled audibly as he heard Shouta's preposterous idea. Though the orbs and stars of munny were quite pretty they were as solid as steel.
"You'd be lucky to find a tool strong enough to drill a hole through the pieces." Malum spoke, still snickering slightly. He rose from his slouched position as he started to walk an odd path, almost like that of a dance, picking up a single piece of munny and pocketing it as he walked by each one.
"Each piece has value, though I'm unsure what the distinction is, the people here seem to know just how much each piece is worth. It really is a delightfully odd thing that has caused quite a bit of stirring in my mind. Why do these monsters have it? Why is it worth anything at all? Where does it come from? Unfortunately no one has been able to answer me." Malum's tone began upbeat and rose in it's cheeriness with each sentence.
"Perhaps it's that they just don't care." Malum ended his steps in front of Shouta as he said this, the pieces of munny creating a visible bulge on his right handed pocket. "So perhaps we shouldn't either." His innocent smile not displaying the slightest of tension despite what physical strain they had just gone through. But that was Malum, a person who took the words smile till it hurts a bit too literally.
"So, that's the hotel right over there right?" Malum spoke pointing out a building which barely stood out from the rest, aside from the sign next to it of course spelling out Hotel. He held out his to Shouta once more, though out of more of a comfort to the boy than to ward off the cold, as his blood was still rushing to and fro in his body.
