Weapon/Items:In his right hand, Dawn carries a Spell Book that's been passed down in his family for ages. Using hand motions to conjure spells. It's bright white with some hints of silver with thick binding. Plastered on the cover of the book is the symbol below.
Inside the book are numerous spells and abilities for Dawn to learn. The level of these techniques range from novice to expert; however, Dawn is no expert. It takes weeks for him to learn a new spell, maybe longer.
In his left hand, Dawn carries a single orange and blue chakram. It acts like a boomerang, flying back into Dawn's hand when thrown.
He also packs 3 potions and 2 ethers that he restocks when he's back in town.
Picture:kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/File:Basement_Key.svgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v628/Reizou/TempestChakram.pngAppearance: Dawn wears a deep orange beanie with silver stripes over his brunette hair that pokes out a bit over his face. Behind the strands of hair lies a pair of eyes: one orange and one blue. He also wears an zipped silver vest with a hood. Underneath the hooded vest is a fitted orange shirt, silver cargo pants, and shoes. He also carries a orange leather satchel that raps around his waste. The satchel carries his book, chakram, and potions.
Dawn is 4'9" and weighs 120 lbs; he's not very built. His small physique makes it easier for him to hide.
Personality: Dawn doesn't have a lot of confidence. He's often painfully shy and not very brave. He hardly ever says no and when danger turns it's evil head, Dawn does whatever it takes to escape the situation. He never asks for anything even though he can't take care of himself and never speaks up when spoken down to even when he's crying. When Dawn is around those who need help, he wants to help, but he doesn't know how. If needed, he'll sacrifice one of his essentials, like a potion, for someone else. Whenever he's a part of a group, he tries to be as unnoticeable and quiet as possible. Though when he's one on one with someone, he feel's more comfortable talking. Especially to someone who he's built a friendly/motherly/loving relationship with.
There's not a lot of things that make him smile: the occasional nice gesture, the laughter of someone he cares for. In truth, Dawn really cares for everyone; he's just scared.
Original World: Hollow Bastion
Current World: Traverse Town
History:Dawn wasn't always afraid. He was born and raised in Hollow Bastion. So he got used to adventurers coming and going. He'd always get excited meeting new travelers because his parents would offer them shelter if they couldn't afford the inn.
It wasn't until he turned the age of 10 that his parents decided it was time he needed to learn to take care of himself. His mom decided to teach him magic and his dad started to teach him how to fight. After about a month, Dawn had already learned basic fighting techniques and fire, a low level magic spell.
Then the heartless attacked. Storming the city gates with massive numbers and quickly taking over the lower district where Dawn lived. It was this event that changed Dawn from being a happy-go-lucky kid to the quiet scared kid he is now. His parents helped in the fight against the heartless but tragically lost their lives. And Dawn fell into darkness.
But because light still exists in the heart of children, Dawn was taken to a new world. A distant world with new people, different people...and those creatures.
Lost and alone, Dawn walks the empty streets of Traverse Town with his spell book and chakram in the satchel he keeps behind his back.
Role Playing Sample: "Get up, Dawn, we've got to go!"
Dawn awakes from the startling voice. His eyes quickly adjust and find the comforting face of his mother, running around the room. She opens drawers and tosses their contents out onto the floor.
"Mom, what're you-"
"Where's the book!" She yells, her eyes searching frantically.
"It's under my bed." Dawn says and instantly his mom shoots under the bed. "Mom, what's going-" His sentence is caught short as his whole house rumbles and dust descends from the ceiling.
"Do you have your Chakram?" His mom says as she tries to stay calm. It doesn't work.
Dawn shoots out of bed and runs across the room to pick up his satchel that carries his weapon. His mother, who's found the spell book, stashes it in his bag. She frantically throws on his beanie and vest.
Then there's a crash; the front door breaking down. His mom grabs him by the hand and pulls him from the room. She looks around and continues down the hall. Peers down the corner at the end of the hall where the stairs leading downstairs rest. Her head instantly shoots around as she stares at the ceiling. Dawn takes note of her frantic breathing and then his own heartbeat. How loud it is. How it feels like his veins are about to burst from his skin. His mother kneels down and frantically tries to fix him up as she usually does when he would head to school.
"Do you remember your spells?" She says with a fake smile, voice cracking. Dawn nods, the look of fear on his face.
"What's down there?" She looks at him and tries to put him at ease.
"Just remember your spells and stay calm, okay?" Without looking for a response she pulls Dawn around the corner. Dawn gasps.
What are these things? Dawn thinks to himself. Pitch black creatures with yellow eyes and claws. They look as if they were pulled right from the shadows.
In a flash they erupt in flames. Dawn looks up to see his mothers arm outreached, completely calm.
In order to cast magic you need to be completely calm. Dawn remembers his mother saying through lessons.
How did she get so calm? He thinks, then looks back at the door and more are piling through.
She pulls him down the stairs as a mixture of lightning and ice shoot from her palm. The creatures burst and fade back to the darkness from whence they came. But more jump through.
One gets past the magic barrage and leaps at Dawn. His heart races, mind races, and eyes shut tight. He squeezes his mothers hand just to know she's there. Comforting him. Knowing that she's here throws everything out of his mind. Dawn shoots his hand out in front of him, "Reflect!" he opens his eyes. A barrier, no more than an inch from his finger tips, halts the monster in it's tracks and explodes. It destroys a bit of the wall and 2 other creatures.
"Let's go!" His mother yells and pulls him down the stairs to the basement floor. She turns and freezes the door shut behind them. The basement is a small room with a window, high off the ground, leading onto the streets above. "Heartless..." she mutters.
"Where's dad?" Dawn asks.
"He's..." her voice trails off and Dawn knows. He's gone. Tears form in his eyes that he can't seem to rub away. There's loud banging at the door and the ice forms a large vertical crack.
"Hey," His mom says, her voice calm and soothing. "He's in a better place." Dawn looks up through tears and sees his mom is holding back tears too. Another bash at the door and more cracks form. "He'll watch over you." Dawn eyes widen at this.
"Just me? What about-" The door hinges are starting to come out, one more powerful attack and they'll be here.
"The window," he and his mother run to the window. She blasts it open with a flick of her wrist and covers Dawn as glass flies everywhere. She then holds out her hands, fingers entwined. "Try to hover onto my hands and I'll boost you up." Dawn bites his lips. "Hun, you can do this."
"I've only done it once-" Dawn says tears still leaving his eyes.
Another bash at the door and it breaks open. Heartless plunge down the stairs. "DAWN!"
Dawn turns and leaps into the air throwing his arms back. The air around him gives way and he hovers, landing on his mothers hands. Her small delicate hands. He leaps with all his strength towards the window. His whole body outstretched. His fingertips barely grasp the windows ledge. He pulls himself up and out. He turns around.
His mom has heartless pulling her down. Down into a dark vortex at her feet. Dawn watches as she struggles to free herself from the void. More heartless gather around her and the void gets bigger, pulling her down faster.
"Mom!" Dawn screams. Outstretching his hand as if distance didn't matter. As if with little effort she could burst from the void and out the window. She stops struggling. She looks at him and smiles as she tries to hold back tears. The void has already swallowed her to her thighs and she continues to sink. "Mom!!"
"I love you, Dawn."
"Please, don't go!"
"I will always be with you." She says smiling.
"MOM!" and just like that, she's gone. Gone.
Dawn looks around the ally way he now resides. He looks back at the window and heartless are climbing out of it. He panics and falls backwards landing on his back. He backs up till he can no longer move back. Heartless surround him.One leaps at him, claws outstretched. Dawn throws out his hand. Heart racing, mind boggling. His other hand squeezes the dirt, wishing to find comfort. Dawn opens his eyes and the last thing he sees is a big pair of yellow eyes.
Darkness. Endless darkness. A light flies down to Dawns chest.
I will always be with you. The voice echo's until Dawn is consumed again by warm light.
Dawn opens his eyes again, a little groggy. He looks around and see's a strange town he's never been to before. He stands. "Mom? Dad?" No response. "Mom! Dad!" He yells at the top of his lungs. No response. He falls backwards again and lands on his butt. His eyes fill with tears again and he starts to cry. After a bit he notices the sign above his head says, Traverse Town.
I'm alone, he thinks to himself.
Alone... his cries echo in the town square for hours.
