Name: Rosa Grace Blackthorn
Nickname: Rose
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Position: Allignment: Good.
Rosa is, at present, unaffiliated with any groups or organizations.
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Powers- At present, Rosa possesses almost no remarkable abilities. She dabbles in pyromancy, but is never able to conjure more than a brief spark or ember, and she is unable to maintain it at all, courtesy of brushing off her magic instruction.
Abilities- Rosa, while not particularly strong, is very agile, flexible, and nimble. While not a 100-meter-dash all-star by any means, when the going gets tough, she can get going.
- Fencing- Rosa is trained rather thoroughly in swordplay. That being said, she has never seen true, uncontrolled and unpredictable combat. Her fighting style involves constant shifting of stance and rapid footwork so as to search for opportune moments to strike and provide as few as possible for her foes.
Techniques- Pry- Utilizing her Rapier, Thorn, Rosa thrusts her blade forward with great force. Though this attack is fairly weak in and of itself (as is Rosa in general), it is handy for bulkier foes, as her blade can slip into slits in armor for greater damage.
Skills- Cullinary Arts - Rosa is a novice cook, and can whip up delicious food (or catastrophic, tongue-wrenching nightmares) given the proper ingredients.
Weapon/Items:Thorn- A slender, lengthy rapier with a bronze hilt, crafted with the idea of armor penetration in mind.
Esperium- The bizarre blue gemstone wrapped around Rosa's thigh served as a catalyst for summoning Espers and communing with them. However, with Faria gone, the device is probably useless, unless Espers should be found elsewhere.
Picture:Appearance: Standing at 5'7 and weighing in at 147, Rosa appears to be a lovely, graceful young lady (if not somewhat pasty). However, her arm guards and boots cover scars that would prove the contrary.
Long, blonde locks of wild hair flow all the way down to her thighs, curling in various ways and shapes at points. Just above her glossy pink eyes is a curl that is dyed a variety of colors, usually green.
While her attire varies far and wide, her standard is a (rather showy) short white top and a floral mini-skirt. Accessories are usually are limited to a jade necklace, but on occasion, Rosa will also don matching earrings carved in the shape of a falcon's wing.
Personality: Once energetic and friendly, Rosa has become dismal and hesitant. The pain of betrayal is still fresh in her heart, and grief still brings the girl to her knees at times. Driven by rage and sorrow alone, Rosa presses on, seeking answers. Part of her longs for vengeance, and spurns on a fiery hatred of no equal, and part of her just wants to hear that it's all not true. She wants to run and hide, just as she always has- and yet, where is there to run to now? Nightmares have instilled a fear of Caius within her. The mere thought of him is now enough to paralyze her.
Rosa's world is gone, and she fears more than anything that nothing she does will bring it back, or atone for her previous naivety. However, a strong will and determination holds her up. In spite of her shortcomings, she will stand against whatever forces have driven her home into darkness. Rosa searches first for her siblings, friends, and other loved ones that may have survived the destruction of Faria, but a dark desire for revenge also tugs away at her heart and mind.
Despite everything that has happened, Rosa is far from a damsel in distress. Fiery, passionate, assertive, and headstrong, she will not back down in the face of adversity. However, this is also her hubris- provocation of her rage leaves her blind and rash. All in all, she means well, but distrust in tandem with recklessness may be a spell for disaster.
When it comes to social standings, Rosa can at times be off-putting, sarcastic, and overly dramatic, if not a tad witty and comical. She thrives on humor and comedy, and until recently, reveled in male attention- hence the skimpy get-up. In general, the more out-going and carefree someone seems, the more drawn Rosa is to them. Even still, the girl is also often attracted to shady, angsty people that probably aren't healthy for her at all.
Original World: Faria - Land of the EspersFaria is a massive, mostly wooded, world. Mischievous spirits known as Espers guard the world's greatest secrets by crafting illusions to lead astray those who would do harm to the world's heart. However, even tricksters can be fooled...
Current World: Traverse Town
History:The World of Faria was once a tranquil, beautiful world. The creatures and spirits of the world lived in harmony with its people. For generations, Rosa's clan guarded the Hearth- a glowing mass of pure energy from which Espers arose, and into which the dead were cast. Such was the culture that Rosa was born into.
The first of three girls, Rosa was held to the highest of expectations; she was to be a role model for her younger siblings to match. Rising to the call, she gave everything her all- swordplay, studies, and spiritual counsel with the Espers. In the eyes of her parents and people, she stood as a paragon- a shining beacon of hope to look upon- with the exception of the practice of their arcane arts. Rosa's youngest sister seemed to shine the most in that respect.
Faria was a simple place; there was no market, no ownership- just a community of people co-existing with one another. The sick were tended to with the utmost care, all were taught to defend themselves, and the young were raised strictly, but lovingly.
After a time, strange happenings began to occur- strange even for Faria. The wildlife became violent and aggressive, destroying crops, tools, and in some cases, even houses. Then, the Espers began to vanish. With concern mounting more and more by the day, Rosa and her people investigated- but turned up not so much as even an inkling of an explanation. To add more confusion to the mix, bizarre black creatures with long antennae and bright yellow eyes began to appear.
Perplexed and growing desperate for answers, Rosa ventured further than her people had in ages. Traversing outside the forest for the first time in her life, the young woman was in awe and shock! Before her was a sea of stone, and atop it, trees of metal- these constructs were foreign to her. That was when she met him- Caius Windzor. A tall, dark-haired, and mysterious youth, he charmed Rosa almost immediately.
His smooth-talk, sense of humor, and easy-going manner put the fiery Rosa at ease. When she was with him, the girl felt as if she were flying! It was an amazing feeling unlike any she had ever experienced!
Before long, Rosa was venturing from her people to see him almost every day. Months passed like minutes, and even though the world her people knew was falling down around them, Rosa was oblivious all throughout. Rosa even began blowing off her magic instruction! That was when she made that most fateful mistake- you see, people of the Metal World, as her father called it, were forbidden from the forest. The coveted its power for their own personal gain. Surely Caius was different though, right? He loved her... right?
That was what she thought, anyway. Rosa invited the boy into the forest, and the remaining espers guided them to the Hearth- where Caius did the unthinkable. A sinister laughter began to echo forth from him, and a strange, black energy gathered in his hands. Rosa looked about in horror, trying to comprehend the situation- only to look towards the one she loved as he destroyed the most important thing to her people. The Hearth, the Espers, and the Spirits of Old were no more. With this destruction, a Keyhole appeared. Rosa had never seen anything like it! Before she could ponder this bizarre phenomenon, however, the black creatures arose, and began to flood inwards. Dark clouds began to brew overhead, and before the girl knew what had happened, Faria was lost to darkness.
Unlike her world, however, Rosa was not lost. No, rather, she found herself awakening upon cold cobblestone. Slowly, nauseously, she stood upright, taking the new place in. Strange lights illuminated wooden structures not too different from the World of Metal she so briefly knew. Then... where exactly was she? Wherever she was, she knew in her heart that Faria was no more. Where then would she go!? What should she do!? Fear and grief sank in all at once. She had failed her people, and was now lost to them.
No, she would bring them back somehow! She would hone the skills and power within her that she had neglected for that boy! Somehow, she would save them all! ... She hoped.
Role Playing Sample: That moment was unforgettable. It was as if an uncountable number of voices cried out for my help all at once- and then were suddenly silenced- lost to the void of the darkness. I... I failed...! Caius... you of all people! How...!? How could you!? Everyone, I'm so sorry. These were the thoughts that haunted Rosa as she drifted quietly into darkness, and into the depths of sleep. The girl was strong, however, and darkness could not take hold. Retreating into the recesses of her own heart, Rosa dove into purpose- a purpose unknown even to her.
A great void surrounded Rosa as she floated gently downward. She found herself slowly descending unto a strange, glassy plain, foreign to her in every way. Slowly, warily, she opened her pained pink eyes to the scene unfolding before her. As her feet lightly touched the surface, the girl took in the strange sights. The glass appeared to be a mural of some sort, graced with eloquence and precision. Familiar symbols, such as that of the Espers appeared upon this strange work.
"What... is this place?" Rosa queried, gawking about in confusion and wonder.
This is your beginning- where you decide for yourself just who you are."My... beginning? What do you mean? Did I... die?" This was so perplexing. Was this some sort of strange afterlife? It was nothing like Rosa had ever imagined.
You are drifting- lost in the tide. Here, you will find the shore. As you breath in new life, you will begin a new journey bathed in light, and haunted by shadow."Is that supposed to make sense?" the girl quirked, raising her left eyebrow in confusion.
In time, all will be clear. Follow the light, and your path will illuminate itself. As the bizarre voice finished once more, glass panels began to materialize a short distance from the from the platform upon which Rosa now stood.
"Follow the light...?" the youth repeated, walking hesitantly along. As she walked, Rosa found that the panels spiraled, as if curling around some invisible column. Indeed, it seemed nearly endless. When she finally reached the top, however. the sight before her left her speechless! Before her, another column materialized, with a portrait of herself standing in the middle. The moment she stepped forward, something immediately felt off. It was then that a horrifyingly cold chill ran down her spine.
Before Rosa stood that one figure that she couldn't understand- Caius. Hesitantly, she stepped forth, approaching him with caution.
Be warned- darkness will thrive in the shadow of your light. That voice chimed again, but the warning was too late. As Rosa set her hand upon Caius' shoulder, he turned to face her. To the girl's horror, however, his face was not his own- nor was he himself! No, he twisted and mangled into a bizarre black mass, tendons outstretched to ensnare her!
With that, Rosa shot wide awake, gasping in an unprecedented fear. Panic overtook her for a moment, and all she could do was breath heavily and quickly.
What... was all that? A dream? she wondered, the paralysis of her fear gradually wearing off. As composure set in once more, the blonde began to collect herself, and she took in the sights around her. Cobblestone was beneath her, and wooden structures were all around. It appeared to be night, but she could see strange energies illuminating paths of some sort.
Warily, she rose to her feet, dazed and confused. "Where... am I...?" Rosa pondered in whisper, the hard heels of her boots clacking upon the pavement as she ventured forth. Emerging from an alleyway, the girl wandered into a plaza which sported a "tavern" and a "shop." What were those, exactly? "I get the feeling... that I'm
very far from home," she uttered, unaware of just
how far Traverse Town was from Faria.
Moreover, she suddenly became aware of how cold it was. As small, white flakes brushed against her bare skin, Rosa was awestruck. "Snow? At this time of year? Strange..." Strange or not, her attire wouldn't suit the circumstances. She would have to find new garments.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? Loving the place so far! Everyone I've talked to seems really friendly and helpful, which is a nice change of pace from some of my past RPF's.
I also apologize in advance for any mistakes I may have made in my profile. If you find any, please, point them out, and they'll be taken care of immediately and without argument.
