In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Setsuna Tasumaki
"I'm like Merlin, only more badass. And sexier. Also, I don't like tea and crumpets."
354 years old
Human, Mutated
Male
Neutral
APPEARANCE
The first thing people nomrally notice about Setsuna is his unruly brown hair. It sticks up in every direction and refuses to cooperate with brushes or gels or whatever else exists to tame crazy hair. His boyish face, small nose, and lips seemingly a hairsbreadth away from a smile suggest a carefree young man living out his life to the fullest. But a hard look into his dark chocolate eyes tells another story; an ancient, weathered soul, drifting through life with an indifferent gaze turned on most who venture towards him.
His honey-brown skin speaks of long days in the burning sun, a physical embodiment of all his life's' training. His stands around 5'11", not particularly tall but far from being a shorty. Likewise, he possesses a lean and muscular build; while he isn't exactly ripped, his well-toned body speaks of an almost whipcord-like strength that is to be feared and respected.
His clothing reflects his lax personality, not caring to much for making a first impression based on his appearance. Black skate shoes adorn his feet, held on by a pair of crisscrossing Velcro straps. Baggy blue jeans are held up only by a massive belt, the end of which often ends up hanging loose from beneath his shirt. A black tee shirt usually clings to his muscular build, partially hidden beneath a sleeveless white hoodie.
PERSONALITY
In his heart, Setsuna will always be a person who'd rather be on his back in the green or in a tree, watching the clouds. When not confronted with the few things that trigger his temper, such as ignorance and overconfidence, Setsuna is just your average relaxed guy. He loves to joke around, to run and jump just to feel adrenaline pound through his veins, to feel the fresh air brush up against his bare skin.
One might assume that his dreaming nature would make him a peaceful person, but such is not the case. To the contrary, his like of relaxation drives him to complete his goals as expediently as possible, and he has no compunctions about anything – stealing, fighting, deceit - so long as it leads back to his relaxed state of mind. The only thing that might make him think twice before making a cold-blooded decision would be the wisdom of the action from a greater perspective; though he is at heart a good guy, the way he goes about achieving his goals is often a topic of debate.
Setsuna is set in the belief mankind will never look at situations rationally and will, and always will, resort to violence to resolve conflicts. Most of the time he manages to keep this cynical part of his persona under wraps, but occasionally something so spectacularly idiotic happens that reveals his hatred of all things ignorant. He can burst into a fit of curses faster than the blink of an eye, and wields his sarcasm like a second language. Such outbursts are rare and seen by few, however, so most are unaware of Setsuna's more temperamental side. It takes a lot to get a rise out of this seemingly young man; anything short of incredible disrespect will rarely earn such a rise out of him.
Deep down, behind his sometimes questionable morals, Setsuna is a good guy. He is completely honest about everything he says and does, no matter what the consequences might be. His methods are questionable, but everything he does is done with a good intention in mind. When he steals, when he lies or fights, he only does so out of his innate desire to return to tranquility as quickly as possible. He loves to laugh and make other laugh alongside him, but what he really loves is simply having fun. When he feels like being around people he turns into a suave, charming young man who can sweep people off their feet with his sense of humor and his rarely seen smile.

ABILITIES
i. Magical Core
Setsuna's prolonged exposure to magical artifacts has changed his body, allowing him to produce and regenerate vast quantities of raw magical energy that would tear apart the average individual. The massive quantity of magic that Setsuna wields makes it extremely difficult for him to control it - he is hardwired for powerful, destructive spells, that require minimal control and maximum power. This magic permeates every last cell in his body; to those capable of sensing magic, he stands out like a lighthouse in the dead of night. It has also enhanced his body to grant him strength, speed, and endurance on par with that of an Olympic athlete. Any magic other than his own - whether they are meant to destroy, heal, augment, or protect him - is 25% less effective when targeting Setsuna.
ii. Army of One
Lifetimes of experience have bestowed Setsuna with unparalleled combat knowledge. While he has a particular affinity towards swords – wielding with a masterful hand matched by few others – he can effectively use any weapons he happens upon. Guns, spears, flails, throwing knives, shields, whips – there isn’t a weapon he can’t use to turn the tide against his foes.
iii. Chibi Bunshin
This odd and comical spell came about from Setsuna attempting to learn how to manifest clones. Due to unknown side effects (probably involving his personality) and his excessive power level, Setsuna somehow learned this ability instead. This spell creates up to six magical duplicates roughly 1/4th of Setsuna's size. While nowhere near as fast as he can be, they do have his attitude, skilled technique, and strength. Also, being somewhat flawed in their creation, these replications have a tendency to either explode into a shower of fireworks when struck down - which doesn't take much, as they can only take one solid hit before dispersing. Another thing of note is that the chibi bunshins make a squeaky sound from their feet as they walk. Don't look at me, I don't know why. [four post duration, four post cooldown]
iv. Aero || Howling Steel
A sheath of magic envelops Setsuna’s blade that, when swung, releases a fast moving crescent-shaped projectile of wind. The solidified air is about the same length and width as the blade used to project it, but always possess a razor-sharp cutting edge and impact force equivalent to one of Setsuna’s physical strikes. It is extremely useful when Setsuna needs to throw his opponents off in melee combat, and is one of his more favored spells. [ten uses before three-post cooldown]
v. Aero || Featherfall
Setsuna’s powerful magical core allows him to manipulate aero-based magic in order to grant him flight, at speeds up to 200 mph. He propels air at high speeds from his hands and feet, producing enough thrust to quickly get him airborne with little effort. Doing so, however, quickly drains his magical core, meaning he can only take flight in short bursts in order to allow his reserves to recharge. [three-uses (one post each), two post cooldown]
vi. Reflect || Fortress
Setsuna generates a form-fitting sheath of reflect element magic that encompasses encompass his body, providing a barrier between him and potential harm. It can deflect and protect Setsuna from all but the most powerful of attacks. While Fortress is activated Setsuna’s mobility is extremely limited due to the shield's extreme weight, able to move at a walking pace at best, albeit with some considerable effort. He can only access half of his normal strength and is incapable of casting spells. [two-post duration, five-post cooldown]
vii. Gravity || Overwhelming Presence
A spell that intensifies gravity's pull in a 20 meter radius centered around Setsuna. While he is immune to this spells effects, everyone else isn't so lucky; this spell doesn't crush them, but rather makes movement far more difficult than usual. Weaker individuals might find themselves pinned to the ground, but other are instead slowed down by the effort necessary to remain upright. Victims slow down to about half their usual speed and strength, assuming they do not possess superhuman phyisla capabilites; such traits allow an individual to resist the effects of the intensified gravity. [five-post cooldown]
viii. Ruin || Absolute Meltdown
A sphere of swirling white and purple magic forms in the barrel of the Z'd Buster Cannon, rapidly expanding until it is roughly the size of a small car. Setsuna then fires off this sphere, which unleashes a powerful explosion twenty meters in diameter on impact. Anything caught in this explosion suffers major damage, although it can be avoided if the foe can outrun its detonation range or raise a powerful-enough shield to block it. [one-post charging length, three-post cooldown] [one-post charging length, three-post cooldown]
ix. Blizzard || Frozen Ordinance
Setsuna manifests a cloud of super chilled air in front of him, which quickly forms a dozen large, jagged icicles. A thrust of his hands launches these spikes forward at high speeds. On contact, these icicles encase the object or victim within a sheath of solid ice [one-post duration] and deal minor damage. While foes trapped in this cage are immobilized and incapable of spell-casting, they are also impervious to attack due to the ice's thickness. [two-post cooldown]
x. Blizzard || Avalanche Advance
Setsuna materializes a pillar of ice beneath his feet and uses it as a springboard. He can use this icy structure as a means to become airborne, hurling him up to five stories straight up into the air. Setsuna can control the angle that this pillar projects at, giving him a means of controlling his trajectory. [five uses before two post cooldown]
xi. Thunder || Electrocution Array
A barrage of seven electrified projectiles that each radiate high-voltage electrical fields. This electricity arcs between each projectile, resulting in a wide area of effect (10 meter radius) and an intense, prolonged electrical shock. The electrical field can stun and incapacitate the average adult; the effect is amplified if one of these projectiles lands and attaches directly to the victim, capable of knocking weaker foes unconscious outright. [one-post duration, three-post cooldown]
xii. Thunder || Gigawatt Strike
This spell calls down mighty bolts of lightning from the sky, which strikes a single point with tremendous force. It can demolish buildings with ease, incinerate weaker enemies, and blow away anything near the point of impact with the force of the resulting thunder crack. It is incredibly draining, leaving Setsuna temporarily open to attack; as such, he usually only uses this spell when he is absolutely sure it will make contact. [one-post charging length, eight-post cooldown]
WEAPONS
Tenriku
The meter-long blade of this broadsword is made of a black metal, and is in perfect condition, as if it has never been used. The handle and hand guard are a lot less pristine. The iron crossguard is designed to resemble a pair of feathered wings, and shows multiple signs of minor rust buildup around the rim. The handle worn handle is made of black onyx stone and wrapped in frayed linen strips. Setsuna keeps the his blade in a plain black leather scabbard across his back. The sword extracts the user's magic, and uses that power to create an extended blade of magical energy around the original that drastically enhances its slicing power. This energy blade extends six inches out from each side of the sword, and leaves a fading path in the air when swung. Because of this, enemies running into an area where the sword was just swung previously will still be cut. The magic itself is immensely strong, able to resist impacts that would shatter normal steel. This makes the Tenriku very dangerous to fight against, especially in close-quarters.
Z'd Buster Cannon
A unique projectile weapon that, in its dormant state, takes the form of an armored gauntlet attached to Setsuna's left hand and arm. When activated the armor expands and forms a barrel extending over the wielder's hand. Instead of traditional explosive rounds or energy blasts, this weapon instead launches condensed spheres of raw magic. It draws power directly from Setsuna and as such means that it does not have to manually be reloaded - though it can only house six rounds at a time before needing to siphon off more magic [one-post reload time]. These rounds deliver concussive force that can send foes flying backwards and possibly crack bones with head-on impact.

ORIGINAL WORLD
Setsuna hails from Kuroshikon, a long-dead world once home to a terrible civil war. It was extremely arid and mountainous, sporting only one major river that provided to only reliable source of water for mankind. It was this river that led to war - factions on either side of its banks fought o control it for themselves. Their struggle grew so violent and desperate it soon drew the attention of heartless, and succumbed to darkness.
CURRENT WORLD
Traverse Town
HISTORY
Once upon a time, Setsuna was an average kid living on a now-dead world. He had a happy family with a mom, a dad, and a sister of relative unimportance. Then his house caught on fire and everybody died, except for him. Then a bunch of crazy scientist-mage-types kidnapped him, threw him in a cell, and spent years exposing him to pointy magical artifacts, pumping magical power directly into his body, and otherwise treating him like a slab of meat waiting to be dissected.
After about a decade of living in a portable dog crate, something changed within Setsuna. He started develop powers. Not just any powers, magical powers that he shouldn’t have been able to call on. Destructive forces so far beyond his control that during his first time drawing them out, he accidentally vaporized the facility that had held him captive and everybody in it.
He came out to find him world in the middle of a civil war. The chaos was so widespread, so profound, that soon his world drew the attention of the heartless. Within a week of their appearance his world’s cities were reduced to rubble, and in a flash of ebony light the heart of the world fell into darkness.
Setsuna should have died. He spent every waking moment of his freedom running and hiding, whether it was from people desperate for the few essentials he had on hand, the military leaders seeking to turn him into some kind of living bomb, or from the heartless themselves. But at the very moment of his world’s destruction, the uncontrollable magic within him took hold. It whisked him away across the cosmos, depositing him face-first onto another world.
He would have been satisfied had he perished with his world. It wasn’t like he had much to lose to begin with, save the clothes on his back and what few weapons he’d scavenged off the bodies of soldiers. But fate had other plans for him. The magic he had been exposed to for so many years did more than grant him powers; it mutated his body on a cellular level, preventing the genetic code in his cell from degrading during cell replication. In essence, he’d been granted a form of immortality; while he could die from injury, disease, or toxin, he never visibly aged.
And so for centuries he’s lived this way. Flitting between worlds, making sure to never stay in one place for too long or grow too close to anybody else. He’s seen countless wars and countless governments overthrown. Lifetimes of knowledge reside within his mind, endless wisdom lurking behind his boyish eyes.
SAMPLE POST
The World That Never Was was a depressing place to be sure. If that wasn’t obvious from the name of the damnedworld, Setsuna as fairly certain the scenery got the point across pretty clearly. Eternally midnight skies clashed with towering skyscrapers of eerie whites and blacks, skyscrapers that spewed neon lights that pierced through the darkness and illuminated ones skin a slew of colors. God, all the place needed was a fountain that spewed blood and weed plants and it could be the ultimate emo-depressing hangout.
Bearing all this in mind, one had to wonder why one Setsuna Tasumaki would bother to come to such a depressing, depressing bore hole. The answer was… well, a little silly, truth be told. This time of year Tortuga was a little more rowdy than the man would like, so he did his best to avoid the port for a couple of days. Radiant Garden was all peppy-happy-cheery, and Setsuna was pretty sure if he spent a day there in his current mood he’d end up vomiting rainbows, or something along those lines. Everywhere else… well, at the moment Setsuna felt like being alone, and The World That Never Was tended to usually a good place to do that.
Why was Setsuna in an antisocial mood? Well, truth be told, he was having flashbacks. Not the stupid, cartoony kind of flashbacks, but the kind where he’d spend weeks locked up in some motel room while his brain forced him to relive all of the major events he had experienced in his very, very long lifetime. Usually something triggered this process; sometimes it was a face that resembled a friend in his past, other times it was a spontaneous thought born from glancing at one of the few scars littering his torso. This time it was a young lady, a beautiful brunette who triggered memories of a past lover. Those were the worst ones; he could handle memories of physical pain, but pain of the heart was something that just tore him apart from the inside out.
In any case, he came to this place to be left alone, so he could sort through his problems without freaking out and burning down a village. Or something along those lines.
But of course something had to interrupt his thought process. Setsuna awoke from his perch, a window ledge high above the ground ,to the sound of shouting. At first he thought he was still mucking around his memories, but of course time opened his eyes and brought him back to the cold, damp reality that was this world.
He glanced up. He picked out a slight figure, sporting brilliant golden locks and a long black trench coat that stuck out against the eerie lights burning behind her figure. Out of the corner of his eye, far below, he picked out another figure. This one was best described as the POWERTHIRST mascot, lacking a shirt and being all yell-y. God, he hated yelling. Why couldn’t people just talk, or whisper, or... hell, sign each other?
Setsuna rolled his eyes, rolling over on his side and propping his head up against the wall. He wanted nothing to do with this; with any luck, they’d just kill each other and be done with it soon enough.
I always found it fine for people to rearrange the look of the profile, so long as they stick things in the right order. Looking good.
But I'm iffy on a new player's very first character here being both uber physically enhanced in almost every way, destructively capable with magic, intelligent, and able to wield all manner of weapons. While most of your other sections match up fine, your history really doesn't provide the depth and believability to justify these abilities. One of our oldest characters active on the site, Jadis the White Witch, is 1,100+, immortal, canonical (with an immensely deep history), has giantess blood, and she's one of the few I can think of (alongside those like genetically engineered Sephiroth) that competes with this guy's innate power. Furthermore, she was applied for when the applicant was already a veteran, so staff was knowledgable of her roleplaying style and confident powerplay with Jadis would not be an issue.
I request you both drop some of his actual attributes and/or add realistic downsides to his nature. (An example you can take or leave as you wish; maybe the raw nature of his power is more difficult to refine for more delicate spells.) The following claim has definitely got to go:
Any magic other than his own - whether they are meant to destroy, heal, augment, or protect him - is 25% less effective when targeting Setsuna.
Though you can edit that, by some odd defect, only spells that are supposed to help him are 25% less effective. That'd be an interesting drawback, wouldn't it? Those scientific experiments couldn't have turned him into a practical superhero, could they have? Where's the catch(s)?
A (non mandatory) suggestion about cool-downs and post limits: These are becoming increasingly popular, and people are becoming increasingly dependent on them to balance abilities. You do a good job throwing in a drawback here and there to the abilities themselves, but since just a bit more balancing seems necessary with Tasumaki, you can consider explaining why some of these limits are in place as another reasonable way to balance. You do this nicely in Aero || Featherfall by explaining his magical core becomes drained. Temporary fatigue or dizzyness are other possible explanations. There aren't any 'posts' from a character's perspective, after all!
On a different note. Just keep in mind that, although I can believe he found out about the various worlds and how to travel between them at some point in his very long life, once you enter the RP you can't switch between worlds without proper explanation of how. (Luckily we have a Mognet set up, some characters have gummi ships and/or star shards, and a random event or two like the Atlantis expeditions pop up every so often. So mobility shouldn't be an issue if you want him to move.)
May I ask who the characters referenced in his RP sample are? I think one was a memory, but others sound like canon characters. I'd just want to make sure you got permission to include those.
It's late and my brain is starting to sound incoherent to me. Hit me up for questions or clarifications. 7 days to hear from you!
