In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

He hadn’t realized it would be this cold when he arrived.
The cold, biting air stun against his black fur, and he was glad that he had the foresight to bring a coat when he had stopped the Ortensia nearby and had decided to visit Traverse Town. He pulled up the hood, covering his ears, and pulled up his jacket a bit to cover his mouth and nose. It was a bit too cold for his liking here, but he was sure that he wasn’t going to stay that long. He just had to pick up a few supplies, he just hadn’t decided if he was going to pay for them yet. Sometimes he paid, sometimes he did not. It really depended on his mood, really.
He was getting a few odd looks from those that had clearly grown accustomed to the weather around here. Women dressed in fur coats looked at him with small pity. Men looked up from talking amongst each other with looks of confusion and distrust. No one had yet to cross his path and stand in his way. These people clearly knew their place with those like him, royalty, above others and those that deserved respect.
There weren’t many children on the streets as he walked along his way, trying to find a store to pilfer from. What little children were outside were busy fooling around in the snow, or shivering from the cold against the brick walls. Small dots of snow fell from the sky in a slow waltz, and the beauty of it reminded Oswald of the beauty of another, someone who would have loved this weather.
Ortensia...
Her untimely death to those… those parasites was going to be avenged. Oswald knew who he had to blame and one day, he was going to find the one responsible and make him suffer the same fate that Oswald had, and in turn, he would rise up above him and take his rightful place in the Worlds. He didn’t care how he got there, he just needed to get there. One day, he would, and the chaos and bloodshed that he had to walk to get there would be all good reason.
One child had the nerve to throw a snowball at Oswald, and the gesture was quickly returned with a glare and blunt-force trauma to the head with a fist. No one should have the nerve to throw snowballs at the rabbit who was once king! No one!
Leaving the child bawling into the snow, the rabbit continued on his way, moving along the snow filled streets and trying to find the store that he was looking for. He had decided now that he most definitely was not going to pay for the supplies that he needed. He could easily pull off starving, poor traveler. He hadn’t even eaten recently, so he could definitely pull off the hungry look. Perhaps he could get information that he needed on that stupid Mouse from the shopkeeper, feigning interest in the Mouse King that protected the Worlds from the Darkness.
The First District today was relatively peaceful; winter was being gentle with flurries to beckon children to play and frolic. The cobblestone was covered in snow, while fresh footsteps were lightly sprinkled over. The hot oil lamps continued to burn melting any snow that touched them. The world had an ethereal appeal of blue and a soft orange glow as the snow reflected the hot yellow streetlight and bright signs. Unlike other moments, the first district was rather lively, but the ebbing chill made some evade the Accessory Shop to pick up simple brews, potions, or gummi parts.
The door had a touch of frost making the wood and a golden knob look ashy and desaturated. Inside was a tall ice giantess looking down at the shop keeper. Her pointed nose twitch with annoyance, while her eyes blinked slowly unamused and irate. Her pale blond hair was bound up in a bun, while a pale snow skin complimented with her white dress. Furs draped around her strong shoulders, while her arms were crossed over her chest.
"So you mean to tell me he hasn't come by here...at all?" A brow quirked while awaiting his answer, while her eyes dared him to lie to her.
"N-no ma'am he hasn't. Actually I don't even know if I've seen Mikhail lately."
The Ice Witch drank in the information; her eyes narrowed at the concept of the boy avoiding her like the plague. This lack of communication made her tense; a brow twitched wondering what he was up to. Was the voyage to Atlantis that bad to lock himself away from society? When Antique was frozen into sleep, he'd nearly went into a depression. For the time being Jadis didn't know if anyone else survived to return.
"I see. If you do see him do not sell him anything, tell him he should visit me before he runs off to another world. It won't do if my pupil is to be rude and not say hello."
"Yes, Lady Jadis," he nodded his head, "um is there anything else I can get you."
As if anything here I can't get on my own... She kept her cool thoughts to herself, but uttered, "Was there any news of the voyage to that distant world? The voyage sponsored by the men that crashed her some moons ago."
"No...," he started as if thinking of the right words to use, "for all I know there may be no survivors unless they all settled there. Hehe you know with all the worlds why would anyone stay in one place."
The White Witch arched a brow wondering when she asked for humor, "Hm, I see..."
"Is there anything else I can get for you?"
"Unless you have new resourceful information, then no."
Her resources were drying up or rather they were dried. All her pupils and connections were gone and most likely dead or heartless. They weren't any use of her non-existent and distant. If they are overwhelmed they only had themselves to blame; she had warn them that meddling without power and knowledge would kill and suck the life out of them.
It had taken him a moment, but the rabbit finally located the store that he was looking for. He didn't enter right away, looking to make himself more cold and hungry than he really was, and he even glanced down at his coat to make sure it looked as raggy and open-aired as it felt. He finally discovered the reason why his right side was colder in the inspection - there was a small tear along the side.
With a frown, he fiddled for a moment, before trying to warm himself up rather pitifully. The attempt at becoming colder was extremely uncomfortable and he wondered why he even did it in the first place, before remembering that he was aiming to steal, and not buy.
Carefully, he stepped inside the store and right away saw the woman standing there at the counter - this tall and regal woman who just appeared cold, and wintry. It was like she was a Snow Queen... no... an Ice Queen. The aura she radiated was far more frozen than just cold. He then attempted to avoid her gaze, for fear that she'd notice what this supposed beggar was up to.
He glanced around the store, trying to find the things that he needed. His fingers twitched, ready to take whatever he spotted and hide it in the inside pockets of his coat. He noticed a gummi part that he needed, and he swiftly grabbed it, hiding it immediately. His ears twitched at any sound and his stomach churned from underneath his shirt.
... He was hungrier than he thought. After this, a quick snack in his Ortensia. He was almost done. Now, if that woman would just leave... She was very unnerving to be around. Cold, and dashingly beautiful, he had to admit, for a human. He glanced up at her again, admiring the beauty as discretely as he could. He couldn't gain attention to himself, he tried to remind himself, but she was so distressingly beautiful... that he couldn't look away...

The door wasn't as discreet as it hoped to be as snow drifted in, which felt warmer than the interior. Her brows wrinkled as her eyes shifted to the side and not seeing anyone. For the love of Charn, she knew she was tall, but not everyone were complete imps and dwarves, "And I think you have a..."
Turning her head, her eyes landed on...a rodent; she wasn't frightful of mice; on the contrary she was used to them. Those on her former world would talk back to her, and they were awfully smaller. She wondered what blood this one had to obtain such height. She was going to say costumer, but with anyone looking as ragged as he did, what on the worlds could he possibly by, "a guest, one who isn't quite accustomed to the bitter cold. And from the looks of it another world had met the abyss."
"Ooh," the shopkeeper was contemplating in how to react wondering if Jadis was indirectly telling him to show immense hospitality, "well I was just making tea. Maybe something warm for the weary traveler."
"How considerate," Jadis ended his chatter as the shop keeper hurried to the back. "Your name and where do you hail from? And if you're seeking refuge this is hardly the place for it. If not hopefully you can buy yourself," her eyes scanned him over looking at his ragged coat,"more suitable attire. Winter is here, and she isn't always the kindest."
Feeling somewhat generous, Jadis' pulled back on her magical ties for the flames in the fire can grow more than a whispering glow. The shop would slowly regain its warmth before she had stepped in, "It would be wise to stand near the fire; give yourself reprieve before walking out again."
Oswald winced when she began to address him, realizing that he might have been caught in the act. Deciding to match his appearance, he gave a small grunt and began to reply, watching her carefully. "Oswald, 'mam. I ruled over the Forgotten Wasteland once, but it's gone now, and with it... everything..."
A pain in his heart at the thought of her. Of Ortensia. Still, he continued. "I can't exactly afford a new coat, so this one will have to do. It's doing a fine job." He involuntarily shivered, but tried his best to hide it.
He watched as she told him to stand near the fire, which he gratefully accepted, stepping closer to it and rubbing his hands against his arms. The rabbit was sure he didn't quite like this world, but so far, it was the kindest he had been to, aside from that kid out in the street that had thrown the snowball at him.
"So, I told you my name," he decided to say, glancing up at the beautiful woman once again. "What's yours, 'mam?"
"Hm that's quite a classic tale, riches to rags. As for who am I, Jadis, Lady and Guardian of Traverse," she spoke formally before clarifying, "and this is Traverse Town naturally. Well Oswald, if you're not hear for commerce, then what for?"
In her opinion, he seemed rather stable for one who had lost everything from a kingdom to a world; she wasn't looking at a mirror, so something was amiss. In her youth, she had suffered the same hand. In her case to salvage claim to her throne from her own blood, it had to crumble leaving her as the remaining factor; she lost her kingdoms twice, and he hardly wore the same loss as she had unless he hardened his heart to not show much emotion of failure. If anything is lost reflected on his clothes making him appear a vagabond. Either the event wasn't fresh in his memory, or there was a strong beacon of hope.
Hearing clinks of saucers, Jadis glanced in time to see the shopkeeper push the back door open with a cup of tea, "Here you go little guy. You wouldn't want to get sick."
Coming around the counter, he crossed in front of Jadis towards the rabbit, "Is there anything I can get for you sir? I hope you weren't out in the cold for too long."
He backed away to go around the counter, "You know some people just wake up into this place chilled from head to toe. Poor things loosing their world only to wake up in a cold sweat. I got some Blizzara Rings; it's normally reduce damage from ice attacks, but it can help sometimes with the cold and all. Also since you're new here, you may can rent a house or stay at the hotel in the 2nd district until you can find a place to rent."
Stepping back Jadis watched in mild amusement; her business here was officially done, but she wondered how much Oswald had seen in the outside worlds. Or was he one of those people who just randomly woke up here. Her eyes flicked over to the shopkeeper, "Well aren't you a good Samaritan."
He blushed not sure to take that as a compliment or sarcastic, "Well Traverse Town has been a home of many especially weary travelers or those who get lost in the sea of darkness only to be washed up here. So little guy what's your name?"
Oswald looked away at Jadis' question, no guilt coming to his heart for what he had accomplished upon coming in here. There was no way he was telling her he had come in here to steal parts and supplies that he required. There was no chance that he would ever confess to his attempt at crime.
It wasn't the first he had done it. There was a time where he would pay for everything he had ever acquired, but now, he just didn't care about anything. He lost the only thing he had cared about, been betrayed. Nothing else mattered.
"... Nothing," he finally said. That was when the shopkeeper arrived with the cup of tea, which he took carefully, glaring slight at it for a moment, almost as if he was sure that it was tainted in some way.
He barely noticed the shopkeeper asking the question, and when he finally registered it, the skopkeeper had continued to speak. He listened quietly, glancing down at the floor. He should leave soon, leave before this world got to him, before he froze. He still needed more parts, but maybe he could take them off of other ships in the night. He just had to get out of here.
"... I don't think I'll be staying long," he finally said, looking down at his untouched tea.
Her brows wrinkled, while her moss eyes darkened. In these worlds, there was no such thing as 'nothing'; everyone wants and come for something. He reeks of a vagabond, but comes to a shop for none of it's supply, yet he came regardless. He hadn't come to block from the cold, because he isn't staying, and since he isn't staying long he had means to leave. From his looks, she doubt he was inept to afford a ship let alone to keep it steady. That left the option of travels of other means. If one came to a house a trade without a desire of commerce, there must be another purpose either a spy or in seek of information. Since he asked of nothing, Jadis had no other room than to be suspicious of his intent. She hadn't DEALT with those Heartless with human faces for a long time; if he was affiliated with him bless his heart, he would see another day.
She would milk him for all he's worth, and if she can't bound him, he would join her ice statues collection. Those who proved highly troublesome in her regard can easily join her garden. Jadis would show her ugliness now,but she rather not give reason to gain a higher poor reputation. She already dealt with piss poor children, who she knew thought the worst of her; it was an 'intuition' she thought ultimately stupid, since she had never acted accordingly. In contrast all of her action saved the world whether they like it or not. When was the last time heartless harassed them? They are very little now; if the town were to rise against her over just a little cold, it could easily be their demise. It could matter little, some see her as a villain or something close to it despite to good deeds, so if she strikes when attack, it wouldn't matter of her cause, because the stupidity of this world only adored playing the blaming game.
How did I ever become guardian of this forsaken spat of dirt?
"Hmm, I think I'll enjoy myself a cup of tea as well," Jadis spoke up towards the shopkeeper, "I do before a hint of mint in mine."
"Yes, yes Lady Jadis," he closed the glass case where he was about to grab the blizzara ring and returned to the back. Once the door closed, Jadis pointed her finger at the door coating it's handle with ice to jam it. "So let's clarify...why did you come here? Andi t would be in your best interest not to waste my times with lies. I've worked with children, so I can smell ignorance and fallacies. Explain yourself."
Oswald stared at the frozen door for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly at the sight, realizing now that maybe he had picked his words incorrectly. He moved his sight down to his untouched tea, and he carefully placed it on the counter. With a careful, sharp, yet shivering sigh, he closed his eyes and rubbed at them with his hands. Her words were sharp and to the point. He knew that he had to tread carefully, tell the truth, yet not all of it.
"Alright, alright," Oswald finally said in a low voice. "I initially came in here to see if anyone had any information concerning a... a Mouse King. Usually I get my information from overhearing from the rumor mill, but you weren't talking about him." He found that his voice was dripping with the dark sarcastic tone that he tended to use when he got frustrated or annoyed. "It's important that I know where he is. It's all his fault, after all, that I fell this low."
He just wanted to avoid this conversation altogether. He wanted to return to his ship, the prize sitting in his pocket to finally be added to the Ortensia where it was needed. He needed to fix it up. He needed to get out of here. He needed to hear about the Mouse King, that was why he had landed on the World to begin with, along with the parts that he needed.
Still, Oswald took another needed sharp breath, then let it out slowly. He needed to calm down, that's what. He was starting to lose it, and he couldn't do that in this fragile situation. She was obviously in charge of this world, and her powers were obviously great. He couldn't risk getting into trouble with her.
"I don't suppose you know anything about him?" he decided to ask innocently. "About a Mouse King with a Keyblade... Protector of Worlds?"
Inside the witch smiled to see him cave into her demands, but it slowly faded the more he spoke. What on earth was he talking about? He was looking for a Rodent, and he seemed very keen on it. This isn't the information SHE was looking for. She's not looking for some Mouse, but Heartless. It seemed many had different priorities and problems. Still what could a little vagabond Rabbit, a pauper, do with a Mouse who's a king? It was quite the classic contrast.
"Hm," she hummed to herself thinking this over. Taking a pace, she waved her hand to unthaw the ice on the handle that would've kept the shopkeeper at bay. This wasn't one of those moments; reinforcements wasn't neccessary, "Unfortunately I do not. Typically I would think if they are worthy to know of I would hear of it. I don't know what that says for the Protector of Worlds. Obviously he's been failing at his duties."
She snorted at the idea of a Protector of Worlds. If so why was she defending this world, and why had so many others fallen just to be exactly that? "I doubt even my pupils have my low tolerance to find annoyance and lack of faith to one who regard himself with such title. Fortunately for him...the worlds or so divide that won't be a hordes of angry mothers for all the children lost."
"My problem however," her eyes looked back down at the Rabbit, "isn't with a king, but I suppose indirectly it could be. One would say having the same enemy would make an ally, but seeing how he's failed...that statement is a sham. If anyone may know of his whereabouts it wouldn't surprise if the Heartless have at him or looking to eliminate him as well."
"It wasn't long when they desired to bargain this world, so I wouldn't put it pass them. In that regards, you have a line to stand in; everyone would want a piece some for aid...some for other means."
"You mean the parasites... the things that ate my world..." And his Ortensia. The things that had taken her away from him, made him lose all hope of ever loving anything ever again. The very moment that he had realized he didn't care for anything anymore, not even what he had once called family, or friend. He was just incapable of it now.
"I have heard the parasites had been wandering around somewhere farther left off the map of here," he had decided to say helpfully. He had actually seen a few ships from the Ortensia when he had arrived. "I hear a world went down recently, completely vanished off the map. The Mouse is doing a wonderful job of protecting the worlds, now is he...?"
He rubbed his shivering hands together in an attempt to warm them. The fire had warmed him a bit, but he found his hands were still freezing. "It's a shame they tried to attack this world, but it's impressive you guys were able to fight them off..." He gave a small and tired, yet impressed smirk. He was able to figure it out - it was all her. "Still, from what I heard, they're nearby. Keeping their distance... but still close."
"I doubt loosing a world means much now to this defender; so many has been lost as it is. I'm sure one would say 'better late than never', but yet society always educated one to be...timely," a brow then rose once noticing he was somewhat verse with the knowledge of other worlds as well as current news.
"Hearing that you know of some worlds, although not personally, what can you say of Atlantis? Not long ago I know some people went on an expedition to seek it out; I'm unsure of their success or if that is the world that vanished." What was the use in knowing? Why for she can grow bitter? She wouldn't taste bitterness if she wasn't closely fond of some of those optimistic young ones. One did manage to make his way back here, but since he wasn't speaking with her, who knew the fate of the others.
All of that preparation and excitement of discovering an unknown world could have easily been all for naught. No, she truly didn't want to ponder on it, "If you keep your ears out of those Heartless, I'll keep my ears for this Mouse with this "keyblade" you seek. This world is my ears, so if he does wanders about especially outdoor near the trees, I would know," she then walked slowly to the door grabbing the handle, "I would depart this world myself, but I know those Heartless are just preying from the shadows. I know eventually they'll come back, but for the time being I'm the only barrier, well an efficient one."
"Also if you lack ways of travel, I can supply as well as lodgings. Call it my hospitality. And if you truly want to know the whereabouts of that Mouse," opening the door, a furry of snowflakes entered with a cool breeze, "I'll loosely advice to check with those close to him, whoever they maybe."
He rolled the name of the World on his tongue for a few moments, trying to figure out where he had heard the name before. "I've heard people talking about the legend Atlantis, but I've never actually seen it. I've heard the stories, I've heard the world uses crystals that prolong their lives and powers their things, about how they fell in some way. I don't know what happened to it, or if it even exists, but that's everything I know. I didn't know there had been an expedition to find it... I hope everyone's okay."
He stayed quiet as she continued, and nodded slowly at her offer of keeping her ears out for the Mouse if he kept his for Heartless. "Will do."
Then she continued, and he managed to not smirk at her mention of him having no means for travel. How wrong she was. The Ortensia was perfect for him, and it sat in wait for him. Still, he wondered if he should take her offer for lodgings. A good, actual bed might do him so good. "Thank you for your offer... And I'll take your advice. Where would I be able to stay for the night?"

//sorry didn't realized you posted!\\
"Hmm you should seek out the 2nd District; this world is split into like four if I recall maybe even more, but the Hotel is definately in the 2nd District. I assume you lack money, so tell them I will cover your stay. Just refrain from having sticky fingers. Some weary travelers like to take rather than ask or pay they're dues; it would be a blemish if I had a guest who even participated in such a miniscule crime. I doubt the wolves would take kindly to such news."
With those concluding words, she walked briskly out of the shop back towards Charn, her ice constructed castle beyond the 3rd District.
//GAAH short I may be able to extend it later, but just did a quicky to reply to you. o3o Jadypoo exiteded\\
Oswald watched in silence as she left the shop, not feeling any regret or remorse for having the Gummi piece in his pocket. He hid a sneer as soon as she was gone, hiding it in his jacket as he realized he was in the clear and free from her haunting look.
As soon as he gained a more plain expression, he turned to the shopkeeper and gave a quick nod. "I'll be on my way, too. Have to find this inn she's talking about."
With that, the rabbit left the shop as well, the Gummi piece in his pocket, his heart slightly heavy. He got away with this one, but he wasn't sure he could do it again, especially since she was clearly in charge of this world and apparently, there were wolves around... Still, he was glad he managed to acquire this one, so he would take it as a gift.
Time to get a good night's rest, and then work on his ship. With that, the rabbit hugged his coat close to him and wandered through the snow, making his way to trying to find the entrance to the 2nd District.
