In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Vexen has told him about dreams before, but Lamech has never had one.
He was almost sure that he was in one right then. Most of the time, humanly faults and/or actions were signs to whether or not one was dreaming, but Lamech was never very good at reading either of those things, for he was not human. A shiver could be described as something you wouldn't do in a dream, and therefore, if Lamech knew why he shivered in the first place, he could rule out the possibility of this wintery land being a dream. Lamech simply had never known what cold was. That was quite surprising, considering a master of ice created him.
Blue eyes drifted across Traverse Town. Lamech recognized ice and snow- Vexen had written that into his program. He did shiver, but did not know why. The boy couldn't tell the difference between warm and cold. Most would think of it as a blessing, but it was almost a numbness to temperature (and therefore a numbness to frostbite and other temperature-caused ailments) which made it a curse. Regardless of such silly matters, Lamech climbed to his feet, eyes flittering cautiously around the area. There had been various occasions in the past where he hadn't been welcomed into worlds, and the boy had become quite cautious when it came to exploring. You never know who's going to see you.
Slipping quietly around the corner, he tried to blend in and look as regular as possible.

Since arriving in Traverse Town, Rhyme had found herself pretty much adopted by a local shopkeeper who had swept her away from the District she had been found in and suited her for the weather that plagued it. The shopkeeper was a very kind older woman, and Rhyme appreciated the care and love she had given to the outfit that Rhyme wore, and because of it, she was free to walk throughout the town without so much a shiver.
It was through one of these walks that Rhyme discovered that something was quite odd. Someone was clearly trying to blend in, but his style of dress and appearance didn't quite ring a bell with Rhyme. She had been down this street enough to memorize the faces of the everyday people that did the same thing, to know this fella was new.
"Hello!" Rhyme piped, deciding to be friendly. "Are you lost? My name's Rhyme! I'll be glad to help you if you need it!"
Her heart just poured out all the love that she could ever feel. It was just a thing about Rhyme - she loved to share, she loved to love, she loved to be kind, and she loved to help others. No where in her heart was there ever a spot for disliking anyone, or being angry. No where in her heart was there anything that told her she was ever in danger.
Rhyme gave her kindest, best smile to this newcomer in her eyes, holding out a hand toward him to offer her kindness and friendship. She fully intended to give it away. Everyone was deserving of kindness, right? 'Treat others as you would like to be treated', after all! Wasn't that what 'they' always said? Words to live by, or so Rhyme felt.
Slippered toes crunched in the snow. A stranger came to town today, wearing a suit fastened of darkness. His eyes were a gleaming cold blue and his posture straight. Stepping out into the cold, he had tried to blend in, to hide- but Lamech had failed. Someone spotted him and realized he was different right away. A girl approached, short blond hair almost blue in the snowday sunlight. She offered to help, but Lamech doesn't need help. He's perfectly capable of finding his way on his own; he's never needed anyone to guide him before, and he doesn't need it now.
Lamech raised a hand in front of her face and continued walking, not even giving her a second look. He doesn't bother with random strangers such as herself. No polite 'hello,' no warm smile, nothing. Nothing is necessary if the person cannot do anything to help you achieve your goal. Lamech doesn't waste his own time, and the girl would not be of use.
But then he sees her smile, teeth glinting as she offers a handshake. Lamech has seen a smile like that before...an emptier one, but just as warm and friendly. The replica stops, turning around to see the girl a little more thoroughly. He scans her for a weapon before walking up to her and shaking her hand. Her hand is dainty and gentle, unlike his- calloused and bruised from gripping his sword so tightly.
"I'm not lost. I have nowhere to go." He states plainly, voice monotone. "I need to find my way... 'out.'"
Rhyme's heart ached at the sight of him. He seemed... different than others, very, very different, and she wanted to help him, but he had said no. Such a response caused her to deflate slightly, until he had mentioned a way "out". Was he wanting to get out of Traverse Town? If that was what he wanted, than she would gladly help him! It was what she wanted to do, after all.
But, sometimes, 'out' meant something else. Maybe he wanted out of the District, or the street, maybe he wanted out of the snow. He did say he had nowhere to go... so maybe he wanted out of the situation. It was an odd thing to say, and Rhyme's head was pounding at trying to figure it out without seeming stupid.
"Out of Traverse Town?" she decided to go with, keeping her smile and looking up at the sky, toward the other worlds that glinted in the distance. The old shopkeeper that had taken her in told her that every star was a world far away, and Rhyme often wondered if Beat was on one of those worlds, safe and saound. "Well, usually you need a Gummi Ship to do that, but there's also the Mognet! I can take you there if you'd like! It's not that far!"
She giggled slightly at the end, clearly feeling quite happy with herself in trying to help this newcomer. Her bright and bubbly way of going about it was usually a means of irritation with her friends, but Rhyme felt it was needed. 'You give a smile, you get a smile', after all, and even though it didn't always work, Rhyme loved to give smiles.
"Unless you meant something else?" she added, just for good measure. She was only twelve, she didn't always catch on to the 'older kid' speech.
This girl's kindness would make most people's heart melt- but Lamech was completely oblivious to her natural, caring attitude and warmth. He didn't even have a heart to melt (or at least he didn't think he did) so any attempt such as this one would usually fail. The replica had already perceived her as gullible and useable- he'd be able to take advantage of this girl's sweetness in a second. Of course, he'd bide his time. Lamech would wait for the perfect time to get everything he could out of this stranger.
Even Lamech wasn't quite sure what 'out' meant. He had said it as a means of getting out of this place- but by now he was starting to want to get out of view, out of the public eye. This wasn't the nastiest place he'd been to, and although he wouldn't exactly enjoy it, he wouldn't mind spending a while here. Maybe he'd run in to a few 'old friends...' The boy pushed the thought away, stepping closer to the girl. "I meant out of view. Do you know of any secluded areas?"
The question was brisk and almost rude- Lamech never looked Rhyme in the eye. And he never would either. The replica didn't need her help, but he could certainly use it. Still, in Lamech's view, that wasn't enough reason to be at all friendly. She had interrupted his walk- making him appear awfully odd to the citizens. He was an outcast again, it seemed. "I'm not accustomed to residing in such public areas."
So he wanted to be alone, somewhere where no one could see him, then. Rhyme's smile softened as she tried to think of anywhere in the town that would be remotely quiet. Usually, as far as she was aware, the streets were crowded and more often than not, everywhere at least had someone wandering around making the place populated in some way or another. Still, she desired to help him, so she had to think of something!
The third district was usually closed off mainly because there were rumours that it was the most dangerous of the three districts of Traverse Town. The second district had the motel and the most populated areas, but there was an area behind the building that was usually left alone from everyone else.
"Well, there is an alley way in the second district you might like, it's not usually busy over there," Rhyme offered, her smile widening somewhat. "Did you want me to take you there?"
She hoped that it would accept her offer, since she loved to help people out in someway or another, and just the idea that maybe, just maybe, she would help him made her heart feel warm. She had been helped when she had first arrived here - from that kindly old shopkeeper, and so she wanted to help him out, to return the favour in a little way.
