In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Taahir knew that the First and Third districts of Traverse Town were safe. He knew that he was supposed to stay there and out of trouble. The fact remained that, as a thief, Taahir was terrible at following authority. He couldn't help it, it was just a part of who he was. That, and he had been keeping out of trouble for weeks now. It was making him soft.
Thus he ended up in the Second district of Traverse Town, walking across a rooftop and just looking for something to do. Sure enough, a veritable swarm of Shadows and Soldiers seemed to spring from the dark surrounding him. While the assault may have been more than the thief bargained for, each individual Heartless was rather weak. He drew his dagger and channeled energy into it, flames appearing from the star on the blade.
As he moved into his fighting stance, left hand behind back, the Heartless moved in on him. All at once, Taahir ducked and wove backwards, out of the fray, leaving a trail of flames that licked at the Heartless and deterred them from following straight away. He would give the universe two minutes, then he was going to town on these things himself.
Nothing really fazed Amelia in the Second District anymore, at least as far as the Heartless went. The small fry were certainly the most common, and any time a stronger monster made an appearance, someone with more capability than her usually brought it down before she was forced to choose between making a stand or running for safety. No, it was the people that appeared in the now-snowy Traverse Town that interested her most. It was always a mystery, the next person she would meet, but it wasn't often that she made more than a passing acquaintance. Everyone always seemed busy, traveling around and fighting monsters and avenging lost worlds. She'd fancied a romanticized view of adventure like that for a short time, but reality was much grittier. Less fun and more business, but she couldn't fault others for finding a bright spot in the gloom.
She wandered along the upper pathway past the hotel, her quarterstaff propped on her shoulder and a tired frown on her face. She'd just gotten something to eat and was considering returning to the Gizmo Shop to relax, maybe read a book or sleep. The district seemed rather quiet, and she very much hoped it would stay that way because if she had to chase down another irritating Heartless from the Shop, she was going to be pissed.
Something bright and orange flared up at the edge of her vision, making her stop and turn toward the fire. It was a decent distance away, but she could make out a very human figure and the familiar shapes and glowing eyes of Heartless.
Her eyes narrowed. Either someone was having problems, or they were the adventurous sort and having a little fun. She wasn't sure which it was, and she couldn't just walk away if it was the former, so she continued to watch the man spilling fire across the rooftops.
