In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff. Gag.
Oh jeez, she didn't want to know what belonged to that smell. She let out a tiny sneeze and continued to sniff around while reading for anymore food-- edible food. Her eyes quickly skimmed over gold text and printed letters, not a one hinting anything toward foxes with fiery tails. Finally at a stack shoved away in a corned there was a maroon book with worn words. After blowing the dust off, and sweeping it away with a paw (all that dust never comes off so easily), her eyes zoomed in. Of course this wasn't the first book in the stack she had looked at-- if only things could be that easy --but she was grateful none the least. Her jade eyes could barely make out the words Magical Creatures on the spine. So maybe there was something about her in this book.
She was shoving it along with her snout eager to bring it into the light to read when hello someone picks her up. Her legs were waving wildly in the air as if she was swimming as she desperately tried to get down. But surprise, surprise, there was another visitor. And then her face was shoved right in front of the newcomer's face. So this was Leon...Her thoughts gathered back to when it was mentioned Leon might like foxes, and Sage liked food. She shrugged the best she could and realized this was her time to suck-up. Impersonating the best adorable face she had ever seen the fox laid back her ears and opened her eyes as wide as they could go, the irises growing larger as well. To top it off she stuck out her bottom lip in a sort of pouting expression as if to say 'please take me home.'
((... *wonders why her internet never showed this page* D: Sorry! Blame technology and the failure it's made out of.))
Leon coming back to the headquarters? No surprise in that, he basically lived off his work here. He seemed more than interested in the new fox that Tifa found-- with good reason too-- it wasn't every day that you saw a wild animal on fire and feeling completely safe.
The ninja was interested herself in the fire, taking note of how nothing was catching fire as the fox went along it. Wasn't that against the laws of physics or something? What if she gave the fox a bath, would it go out, or would it be another miracle of fire existing underwater? Pretty interesting.
As the fox moved into adorable mode infront of Leon, Yuffie couldn't help but make an inner 'awe'. All she could hope now was that Leon didn't completely revolt the thing and actually think that it could like him.
Smiling, she looked up towards him, "I think she likes you Leon!"
As it was, Merlin was not being a guppy today. Nor was he being a turtle, a goat, a frog or a dragon.
He was grocery shopping.
Such a simple task, one might wonder why a wizard would need to do something so menial, so trivial as shopping for groceries. Well, when your shopping list looks something like this:
Eye of newt from medieval England Pair of glasses belonging to the late Giant Madame Broomhelda. (note: Ask Jack) Cocoa nibs from Guatemala Cotton balls from the year 1991 Stinging Nettles (Northern Africa preferably but the European variety will do) Newsies: the musical on DVD A DVD player Four gallons of water from The Entwash (underlined twice) One diamond and one toad from Les Fées
Well, let’s just say it was better to take care of these things yourself rather than sending someone else, who was sure to bring back the wrong brand of cotton balls.
The clever North Wind brought Merlin home upon its back, allowing the wizard to save a little energy and taking him on a nice little tour of Switzerland. He entered using the front door, which he seldom did, but thought it would be kinder to not not give his visitors a shock by simply appearing before them in a cloud of magic…
(Wowsers has it been a while...)

Leon arched a brow first at Tifa, then the fox. Alright. o it seemed it was interesting, but if there were two things in all the world that Leon couldn't stand, it was pets (mostly birds) and kids. And although the door way had nearly completely smacked him, side-stepping it and Merlin alike, it wasn't exactly his idea of what he considered "cute".
The word just wasn't in his vocabulary.
At least it seemed Merlin was in, and Leon did what he did best, moved out of the way and found a good wall to cross his arms and lean against to observe. The man just really wasn't in a talkative mood. Not that that was saying very much...
Tifa rolled her eyes almost imperceptibly. Leon wouldn't answer unless forced, she knew that from experience. Unfortunately for him, Yuffie could be quite forceful. Who was she kidding, the girl practically radiated force. She would have felt pity for the gunblader if she didn't know precisely how capable he was of taking care of Yuffie.
More importantly, however, was the arrival of Merlin. Tifa smiled at the wizard as he entered, noting his odd choice of using the front door. "Hello Merlin!" The barista said lightly, "Could you please take a look at the fox that Yuffie's holding? I don't think she's local."

All of a sudden this house had become a zoo. From cozy to crowded Sage suddenly felt uneasy. So Leon wasn't too fond of the whole cute-animal act, damn. At least she had two people cooing over her, both girls."Hello Merlin!" Sage's ears pricked up as she heard the wizard's name, "Could you please take a look at the fox that Yuffie's holding? I don't think she's local." The fox shifted her weight so that she was now looking at this 'Merlin'.
Nothing really impressive about him, he was just more of an old man with snowy-white hair and a beard to match. Blue seemed to be the main theme with this wizard, for example, his blue robe and blue hat. Though she had heard the saying before, "Don't judge a book by its cover" so she'd have to wait to make a final decision about Merlin.
For now she looked up to the girl that was holding her and nudged her in the arm as if to signal that she wanted to be let down. Maybe Merlin would know more about the race of Firefoxes than the actual Firefox did.
((Sorry if I got Merlin's description wrong Aryn. If I did, let me know, and I'll correct it.))
(The description is A-Ok. Feel free to refer to Merlin's profile, linked from my Title Page anytime)
“Good day, Tifa.” Merlin replied. Because Tifa was the only one polite enough to open her mouth and greet him properly like a civilized human being, she was the only one he addressed. Of course, the wizard wasn’t all about formalities, but really human interaction was important.
“Ah, now let’s see. Local? Far from it. All right, Miss.” He said to the fox, “You may resume your human shape…anytime now.” There was a rhythm to Merlin’s speech that alternated between quick speech and slow thought, his mind constantly whirring with ideas, thoughts, and information enough to make anyone dizzy. How he contained it all without going completely insane was anyone’s guess. There were those who would argue that he, in fact, was insane, but this was neither here nor there.
Human shape? But... it was a fox. Yuffie would let alone that for now it was having a tail made of flames. Had Merlin really lost his marbles just now? She doubted it.
Merlin was a guy that knew what he was talking about, whether it was about day-to-day life-- taking out technology as one of the contributing factors-- or just mythical beings, he had a fairly good clue on what was what. This fox seemed to be such the case as one that the wizard could wrap his mind around and take into his specialized knowledge.
The point in accompaniment with the nudge given by the fox earlier was enough to tell Yuffie that it would be in her best interest to put down the fox. Quickly, she knelt down, letting go of the fox to roam freely on the floor. Staying in the same position, she folded her arms and watched the fox curiously, waiting for something to happen.
From his corner, Leon quirked a curious brow, though he certainly wasn't going to get in the way of anything. He'd been considering moving and slipping out if there was going to be commotion. But at least there was something interesting going. Supposed he could stick around for a bit...

As her paws touched the floor Sage looked curiously up at Merlin. She felt sure that he knew about Firefoxes and could help her out within the minutes he arrived there. Already he could tell that she was a shape shifter--kudos to him--and for his reward she would follow his somewhat orders and shift back to human...
...But not in front of all these people. She quickly skittered over behind Merlin, making sure no one could see her (except Merlin, since she didn't really care now that he knew), and shifted. She was sure now that people could see her human form considering that she could see everyone else from where she was standing.
Her eyes curiously scanned the others' faces for any tell-tale signs of their thoughts. Now that they could all see her she felt it best to at least say something...anything. "Um...hi there?" It seemed trying to get food was out of the question as she stepped out from behind the wizard. It was an understatement for her to say she felt awkward here; all she needed was for someone to speak up, and not be mad at her for deceiving them all.
Almost as if water had been turned into wine before her eyes, Yuffie was baffled at what had happened in just those few short minutes.
A fox... no, a human... It was something alright. Gaia had its own share off odd beings and creatures, but never one like this. Radiant Garden always managed to attract a certainly unique crowd. This girl wasn't among the oddest, but she definitely wasn't amongst the 'normal' people that were scattered around the town.
Guess this meant that the committee was out a mascot. Darn.
Wait, so, were there more of these things walking around that she didn't know about? Yuffie could hardly tell that there would be some way of a person like that turning into a fox, no physical attributions, markings, anything. For all that they knew, the city could be filled with these things. There were two parts of this hand though...
On the other side, there was the fact that this fox-girl had been more than interested in seeing Merlin who knew all about these sort of things. He knew something that the other three didn't... and Merlin would always have the upper-hand on these sorts of situations, no matter what.
Blinking, unsure of what to do, she did what she was trained to be as a member of the Restoration Committee, her job, "Uh, hi! Welcome to Radiant Garden."
She smiled. Maybe the girl already knew she was in Radiant Garden, but Yuffie didn't know that, it was her job to be a welcomer, it was an easy enough job to fulfill, best to not add to everyone else's work-pile.
Merlin seemed considerably unconcerned by the whole exchange, as though meeting fire foxes was as common as the sun rising and setting everyday.
Immediately he went about setting some water on the stove for tea. A flick of the wrist and the knife was slicing some cheese and ham for a few sandwiches, "Yes, welcome." He added after Yuffie's enthusiastic greeting.
