In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

All fights take place on the Game Grid. NO BREAKING THE GRID!
With a glow of blue light, Louis found himself dressed in an additional odd, blue garb, standing upon a blue and black grid. So this was where the challenge would occur.
Preparing himself for swifter movement and friendly fight, Louis removed his cape for swifter movement. Now all that remained was to wait for his challenger.
Cid was up in the announcer box, putting the last touches up on the microphone setup, neglecting that he had a fight that he had to be at in 60 micro-cycles, or he would be disqualified.
55 micro-cycles passed.
Cid launched himself out of the floating box, out of the conveniently glassless window, and down into the game grid. And realized that he had left his spear up there.
It's a #%^& good thing I'm a User. he thought as he summoned his spear into his hand, now ready for the fight.
Tifa arrived in the box just in time to see Cid jump out of it. The first fight of the day, and already things were behind schedule. Blue lines traced her clothes, with her gloves glowing like the stars from the Pridelands.
There was no time to wait for the other judges with this close of a schedule. Bringing up several screens showing feeds from different angles of the grid, Tifa pressed a button by the microphone but quickly released it as a spark jumped out and a short burst of static echoed across the cyberspace. Gingerly trying it again and being rewarded by a blue light, she spoke to the contestants. "Round one, Louis Lotus competing with Cid Highwind, may begin." She sat back on a stool she had brought in earlier. She was anxious to see what Louis could do against someone with Cid's strength.
With a quick, respectful bow, Louis cracked his knuckles within his gauntlets. "Best of luck to you, Mr. Highwind. I believe you'll need it."
With the kind chatter out of the way, the vampire worked for the first strike. He pointed his right index finger towards Cid, firing off smaller, regular laser pulses, each pulse a half-second away from each other and about half a foot in length, upon the aged man. Best to start things off easy, see what the opposition was capable of.
"Heh." Cid launched himself sideways, dodging the shots. He landed, and concentrated for a moment. "Areo!" His spell gathered air around his spear, and created a razor sharp wind that would cut anything besides Cid and his spear. Perhaps not anything, but it was close enough.
It was unclear whether Merlin had just arrived or whether he had always been there, comfortably sipping tea in his favorite chair. Never mind how he managed to get a hot liquid into cyberspace, as he peered through his spectacles to watch.
Merlin did not typically approve of this kind of senseless violence, however, in this case he was willing to make an exception for two reasons: one, all the battles were taking place in a controlled environment (in other words, not on the streets or in a medieval jousting ring) and two, it was a fundraiser after all...and Radiant Garden needed funds.
"Cid shows his agility early on and attacks with elemental magic...Tifa, you will have to remind me how we are able to have elemental magic inside the computer." Not to say that Merlin was uncomfortable or without knowledge on things concerning technology, but he had spent considerably more time studying natural magics and the like.
((Areo or Aero? I'm quoting it as it is shown in this post))
Well, this one was a jumper. It made Louis smile to see someone with some age be able to jump around like... like a little squirrel.
"Areo!"
Hmm. A wind spell, it would seem. No matter. So long as there was some distance, Louis would be fine. Sticking to the original plan, Louis moved his finger after Cid, launching more lasers, trying to predict his next movement with preemptive shots, trying to get the man to walk into a laser.
((Aero. I couldn't spell... But I could Spell! Up a level, Down a level.))
Well, Louis was good. Cid knew this, but had not actually fought him before. But then again, trying to predict someone going in a line is easy. So Cid changed directions. He jumped strait for Louis, spinning the spear behind him, and closed the distance in one jump.
Now within range, Cid added the centripetal force from the spinning, and let loose a slash aimed at Louis' face, calculated to just barely slash it open.
Well, he seemed to be a quick one. Of course, it's to be expected of a lancer. The classic Jump. This man was a man not to be trifled with; He could even be of Dragoon quality with that technique.
Not one to take chances, Louis set himself to jump back, only springing off his feet when the man was in a close range. He didn't expect Cid to be so quick.
Though the lance had missed, Louis still caught some of the wind from the Aero spell, sending his jump a bit off course. He landed on all fours to stay up. He looked up to Cid and said, "Thundaja!"
With that one word, massive bolts of lightning fell down to the ground, each one targeted upon Cid with the exception of two bolts, which were to strike to Cid's left and right.
Well, Louis dodged the swing, not anything surprising. What was surprising, was that Cid stayed still, and continued around his strike, slashing down with it again, but this time, Cid let go of the Aero spell. The centrifugal force on the spell caused it to stretch out, and a blast of razor sharp wind, with the force of all of the swinging behind it, to fly towards Louis while he was spellcasting.
Wait, spellcasting?
Oh yes, and the lightning hitting Cid was a surprise as well.
((The air will stretch out and hit something, then the aero spell will snap back to around the spear.))
Tifa looked at Merlin, "Space Paranoids has been programmed such that the rules governing elemental spells effect it I don't know the specifics, Cid would probably be the best person to ask." Lightning then struck and she hoped that the system would be ok.
