In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

All fights take place on the Game Grid. NO BREAKING THE GRID!
With a bright flash, Cloud appeared in the computer generated world of the Space Paranoids. He looked round finding himself in what was known as the 'Game Grid', but what he really focused on, was the change of attire he found himself in; the majority of it stayed the same, still plain black, but all of the metal areas of his attire such as zips, buckles and the lion's head design on his shoulder plate glowed a bright blue. It wasn't exactly to his tastes, he felt the bright colors didn't suit him but what could he do about it? Nothing.
Cloud drew his sword bringing it up in front of him and gripped it with both hands. He sighed as he saw it's new state; the huge compilation of blades that made up up his sword also glowed this electric blue, much like his outfit, with the bandages around it looking as though they were trying to contain the bright aura. Despite his lack of enthusiasm for the new look, Cloud was waiting there for his opponent to show up in a battle ready position...
The game grid is huge, and made of flat areas. The floor is flat, the walls are flat, and there is no roof.
So, why was the floor bulging?
Well, as it turned out, there was a large shape-shifting virus just imitating the floor. The virus had been captured by Cid, and stuck in a computer in the back of Merlin's house. Cid had been working on it, and had managed to create a copy that was tame. He hoped.
This was a trial run for the virus, to see how well it could take down new viruses that could attack the system. If It should go haywire, It could still be contained in the grid, with no causalities.
Not that Cid had told any of this to Cloud...
((Enough exposition, back to the fight)) The virus formed into a large block (about as tall as Cloud, and perfectly cubic), and passively sat in front of Cloud. ObSeRvE. lEaRn. AcT. iN ThAt OrDeR.
After watching a few matches, Sephiroth had decided that he was well and truly bored. There was little here to catch his interest... naturally, he had seen the entire roster, though there was only one match he had true interest in. All others were unimportant...
In the end, Sephiroth wanted nothing more than to watch Cloud fail.
There was little in terms of light in shadow in this gridlined place, though there were places less generally illuminated. Standing in one such place, Sephiroth's eyes glowed menacingly, tilted by the hint of a smirk. No matter how far he progressed, no matter how much he accomplished, the angel knew better, and watched from the background. For no matter where he went, he never could run far enough to escape what he really was...
Cloud's head tilted to the side slightly as he stared at the 'thing', as he described it, formed before him. It was around Cloud's height but was most definately not human, he honestly had no idea what it was. This was certainly not what he was expecting when Cloud chose to sign up for this battle contest; he was expecting to fight a skilled combatant, someone whosigned-up, another person!
"Seriously, this is my opponent?"
He thought out loud with a small motion of shrugging his shoulders. Cloud wasn't that picky about what he was going fight, if this got him closer the final, he would fight anything Cid could find inside the computer system. So, without anymore hesitation, Cloud made his first attack; a simple but usually quite effective strike. He took a quick step forward as he swung his huge sword, The First Tsuguri, diagonally with both hands in hopes of striking the virus. He wasn't expecting much from this attack, it was just to see how the 'thing' reacted, how it moved and how it responded to threatening movements...
This was a match Sephiroth very much was growing to like. The first strike... completely to no avail whatsoever. Cloud left himself open in battle far more than he ought to; a fact Sephiroth often capitalized on.
Intresting... That was the best way to describe the situation at present. Although that was clearly not one of Cloud's strongest attacks, he was still expecting some sort of result. Instead, he got nothing. His sword smacked the surface of the Virus' form bouncing off and it simply stood still, no reaction but a threat: 'You shall fall today.'
"Is that so? Show me what you can do then. Or are you just going to stand there until I die of boredom?"
Cloud said out of annoyance more than anything. Though, without even thinking, it was a comment meant for provoking the Virus into attacking him. Maybe, being a Virus and not a human, perhaps it wouldn't respond to Cloud's provocitation. He was mainly planning on taking a more defensive approach to this battle, maybe taking opportunities for counter-attacks would insure his survival until he found his opponent's weakness.
The Virus sunk into the floor, and reappeared a few seconds later, about ten feet back.
"ThAt Is A pLaN."
The now slightly smaller cube shot out a single thrust, aimed at Cloud. It was a rather weak spike, more probing than anything, and stretched out pretty far.
As this 'probe' flew from the Virus, Cloud immediately reacted as if it were an attack whether it was meant to harm him or not. Dashing diagonally forward, Cloud easily evaded the outstretched spike and swung his sword across his body to strike the probe, he expected his sword to bounce of like before but it was always worth a try. He didn't stop after the initial dash and began to run towards the Virus longside this extention of it. Now dragging the blade across the ground as he closed in on his target, Cloud prepared to make his next attack if he managed to reach the Virus before it responded to his previous slash...
The Virus could transmit it's mass to any point on it's body. It's body cannot move instantaneously, but it could transmit it's mass across it's body.
Which is why the Virus had spread out all across the floor. As Cloud closed the distance, the Virus sunk, and came up all around him, closing like a Venus flytrap. The spike fell to the floor and was absorbed back into the main body, and the walls started to close in on Cloud.
Just as Cloud was prepared to attack the Virus, it sank straight back into the Game Grid. With a rather annoyed grunt, Cloud slid to a halt and began looking round for where it would rise up next.
But it became apparant soon enough that this was not an evasion as such, it was a counter-attack; the virus emerged from the ground all around him and began to close in on him. With little time to react, Cloud performed an aerial manouvre. He took a quick bend of his knees before springing up and swinging his sword out as he spun round at incredible speed with the effect of a tornado. He made this attack in hopes of striking the 'fly trap' to slow it's close so that he would have time to leap out as he continued his ascent...
As Cloud tried to take to the sky, the trap tried to close on him, but as an extra measure, the walls turned into spikes. They thrusted out with a deadly ferocity, from all angles, hoping to skewer him.
