In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

(Its okay; I'm really late, too >.>'')
After about fifteen minutes of this mad dash, Maylin thought that maybe, just maybe they lost the heartless. She skidded to a stop, and turned her head. Other than Rayner, nothing was there on that road. The girl sighed, a bit of a relief, a bit of fatigue, and a bit of exasperation.
"Alright then," she said, sitting down, "We've gotten away from the heartless...but how do we get out back to the main streets?"
The girl pondered for a moment, then remembered something she wanted to ask; what was that blast that Rayner used back there?
"Hey, not to interrogate you or anything," Maylin said, twiddling her thumbs, "But what was that...that blast-thing you did back there? I thought you said that you weren't into fighting..."
Post by qwertyuiopaz on Feb 7, 2009 23:00:54 GMT -4
Why... Why this long of a run? Rayner was hating everything past about halfway through the run, and this was definitely not helping his stomach out at all. Though, he was managing to hold it in, so he guessed that's winning the battle- no matter how much that takes out of him.
He simply shrugged at her in regards to the first question. Sure, he knew Traverse Town the best out of all the worlds he knew, but that knowledge was very limited as to knowing a few people, barely on a first-name basis. He knew one or two shops, and he knew that one was around here somewhere, but that was it.
Asking her second question... It seemed as if she was a bit nervous or uneasy about something. What could she be uneasy about? Her bout of violence and viciousness? Or her back cracking which should never be done by anyone, ever?
"Well," he started in between gulps of air, "Most of what I can do just," he paused a bit here, both in taking some air in and gathering what he wanted to say, "helps out people in their fights." It was true, and some things he could do seemed more offensive in nature than his defensive powers, but that didn't mean much. As far as he was concerned, he labeled it under 'support' spells rather than 'offense' or 'defense'.

Help people out? Ohhh, that blast most certainly helped Maylin out, alright.
The girl decided not to press him, as he obviously showed that he was not very happy at the moment. She looked up at him, gasping at the air as though it was barely there, and felt something very peculiar...a smile tugged at the edges of her lips, almost involuntarily. Maylin found herself giggling at his expression, and while it wasn't something to laugh at, she found it funny...
"I'm sorry," she said, calming down, "You just had this....look on your face.....it was priceless!"

"Yeah, so's your face," he said, jokingly, laughing a bit himself in spite of himself and who the joke was directed at. He figured something that many others have in the past: if you couldn't laugh at yourself, then who could you laugh at?
(Blehpost, muse isn't working right, so sorry ._.)

"So's yer MOM!" Maylin laughed immaturely, then immediatlly sobered up, remembering his story, "Shoot, I'm sorry....I-I totally....forgot about your...world....destroyed....thingy..."
The girl twiddled her thumbs, waiting for a response, her smug grin fallen off her face.

He went straight faced for all of five seconds.
It was a great feat for him. He normally saw that one coming, but she suddenly got nervous or something and started apologizing... Really, the thing he would like the most is something to laugh about every once in a while. For all of those five seconds, he was preparing something. Something that may or may not come as a shock.
"So..." he started, looking down, and slightly sad looking, "So's your MOM'S face!" He laughed for the sheer dumbness of it all, they were already cracking jokes right after a huge fight.
"Don't worry about it. If it takes my mind off of things, then I'm all for it- especially if it's something I can laugh about." He figured to let her know, after all, it would be kind of weird.

"So..." he started, looking down, and slightly sad looking, "So's your MOM'S face!"
Maylin looked at him, stunned for a half-second. Then, a giggle escaped her lips; light, girly, childish. It soon broke into an infectious laughter that spread between the two.
"Don't worry about it. If it takes my mind off of things, then I'm all for it- especially if it's something I can laugh about."
"That's good," Maylin said, wiping a tear she shed in her laughter from her eyes, "I'm glad you're feelin' better after that nasty fight."

The reality of the situation set in; the two were lost.
"Neither do I," Maylin said, in response to the boy. She looked up at the sky; not only were they lost, but daylight was fading fast, and it was supposed to snow tonight. A chill blew through the air, prompting the girl to clutch her arms, shivering. Maylin looked back at Rayner, saying, "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know a fire spell, would you?"
Post by qwertyuiopaz on Mar 2, 2009 10:49:59 GMT -4
"This is... Unfortunate," Rayner said, sighing and looking around. The second question went unanswered as he started walking in a direction- not the way they came. He was thinking thoughts about what would happen if they were stuck in the cold, or if they never made it back. He decided now was not the time to think, and Rayner figured if he just kept walking then he'd eventually find his way back.
"Follow me, I guess," he said with a shrug. He didn't know where he was going, but he did know that he was going indeed.

"Follow me, I guess," he said with a shrug.
The girl fell into step beside the boy, rubbing her hands together to create warmth. This particular girl doesn't do well with the cold...
She looked up into the sky again...the sun was more set than not, and purple overpowered the deep-orange rays lingering from the sun. Several stars had appeared, shining overhead like sequins. The girl coughed, and continued on...then, she saw something ahead...several buildings, to be precise.
"Rayner, look!" She tugged on his sleeve, pointing excitedly, "Do you see what I see?"
A small number of houses could be seen; perhaps a hospitable family would take them in for the night, give them directions...that'd be nice...
((....I thought that this would be a nice twist ^^))

Maylin didn't even respond as she dashed fowards to the nearest house. The window had a lit candle in it, so the girl assumed that there'd be people in it. She knocked on the door a couple of times, waiting for a reply. When none came, she knocked again, a bit louder this time. Again, no reply. She rapped the door once more, and much to her surprise, the door fell down.
"Ah!" She squealed, "I'm so sorry!"
She looked up from the fallen door, and her eyes widened at what she saw...or, more like what she didn't see...
No one was occupying the residence. The candle by the windowsil was lit, there were two made, cozy-looking beds, and a table with two chairs pushed in. Altogether, it looked like a well-lived in little home....but something about it gave her the creeps...
"Raaaayneeer!" She called back to her partner, "This is kind of weird!"

"You did just knock a door down, you know," he said, smoothing back his hair, "I'd think that's kind of weird, too."
He poked his head in the doorway, looking around. He could assume that nobody was in the house due to nobody screaming at his companion yet. After all, if she knocked down a door in his house, he was pretty sure he'd be getting purple in the face by now.
"Anyone here? Hello?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. So, the house looked like people had lived in it, but now there were no people. What the heck?
"Wow. Lame. We got the short end of the straw this time. Well, want to just go in or keep walking and try to find some place else?"
Post by mallorywillows240 on Mar 4, 2009 21:41:13 GMT -4
Maylin pondered for a moment, then said;
"Let's go check out the other houses...I'd feel weird staying in an abandoned place...I mean, it's abandoned for a reason, right?"
And with that, the girl went about the other houses, knocking from door to door...no replies from any of them. This time however, she peeked through the windows instead of knocking down the doors....it was the same as the first house; the candle by the windowsil was lit, two beds, two chairs, one table....this was kind of getting to Maylin.
"Rayner...." she stated, "This is kind of creepy...."
