So, I've decided to do an epic(what it would be called if it was on BZPower, and what I'm used to calling this kind of story) on the past of Max's world, somewhat. It shall begin with the assassination of Sira and Arosom, and end at the final siege where the heartless finally reach the keyhole. Now, I haven't gotten enough written for the first chapter yet, but.....I'll have it up soon. Doe now, I shall clarify several things that will likely be asked about later and will help people understand it more as they read.
MAGES AND MAGIC[/i]
What is referred to as "magic" is not spells, but a certain ability that an inhabitant of this world is born with. It allows them to manipulate one of 6 elements. Mages are those who are born with these abilities.
These elements are as follows(with description, of course):
Earth Mage-Able to move the ground itself and set up barriers that are nigh impossible for anyone but an Awakened Fire Mage to break through, Earth Mages are some of the most powerful, in terms of defense. The majority of Earth Mages, however, end up being more skilled at healing through manipulation of the body, and find themselves in this niche in society.
Fire Mages-sorcerers of mass destruction, the most powerful Awakened Fire Mages are capable of making a firaja spell look like a burnt out match. Capable of devastating the ranks of opposing armies with great surges of fire from so far away that they can't even be seen, Fire Mages are the absolute most destructive, and that is all their powers are good for: causing mass destruction and death without discrimination.
Water Mages- for those of you that know my character Maxwell Tendas, you would know that this is what he is. Water Mages tend to be the most balanced of the elemental mages of the Kingdom of Strife, despite their powers leaning closer to the defensive side before Awakening. With much more finesse than then Fire Mages, a skilled Water Mage can, after his Awakening, defend soldiers from most fire mage attacks without any harm being done. They are also capable of doing great harm on an individual scale. As even Max has done before his own Awakening, they can compress water to a state where it is solid enough to cause harm, and be launched through the air as a deadly projectile with all the force of a freshly launched cannonball. They can also use their water manipulation to patch up wounds and keep themselves dying from blood-loss, and rumors have been sounded that a powerful Water Mage has emerged able to control a person's body, even after death, through the water contained within.
Air Mages-A More offensively minded version of the Water Mage, Air Mages are capable of doing as much harm as their aquatic counterparts, albeit much, much quicker and easier. As they are always in their element, they can always use the very air he breathes to kill their opponent, such as simply expanding the air in his lungs in order to make him explode(yes, this will be seen in my story. It will be quite graphic, dealing with warfare and all. I'll have a warning at the beginning of each chapter about it.)
Light Mages-extremely rare people, only one has ever been known to exist: Loriah, Savior of Dryden. He saved Dryden from a Noirian invasion, acting as a spy for the Drydenian King. Loriah has since passed and no more Light Mages have ever been discovered, and much of the knowledge of their abilities has been lost to time.
Dark Mages-almost as rare as the Light Mage, only two have ever been heard of, neither of which that did much to consider important. As such, very little is known about what they are capable of.
Now, I know I mentioned something in there that is going to make people stare at their screens and say:"wtf is an Awakening?"
I'm about to explain.
An Awakening is a process that most Mages of the Kingdom of Strife go through that unlocks their true abilities. Up until this happens, they are only able to tap into a fraction of the power they would otherwise have, making them incapable of accomplishing some tasks, and making others incredibly more difficult.
After the Awakening, though, tasks that would normally push a mage to their limit become significantly easier, almost like their just getting a light workout......
.....that is, if they survive the Awakening.
Why wouldn't they? Well, its a very dangerous process. It begins with the actual unlocking of the persons powers, which saps so much energy from their body that it significantly weakens the mages physical strength. Surviving this stage I not always guaranteed, as sometimes it takes so much energy, that it simply stops the mages heart and kills him. This, however, is rare way to die during an awakening, and is not dangerous for others.
The real danger comes from the loss of control over their powers for a period of time as their body attempts to re-assert control over their abilities. This can take anywhere from one week, up to several months, depending on the person.
And depending on the type of mage, it can be variably dangerous.
Consider what could happen if a fire mage in the middle of his awakening lot control.....think of the mass destruction that could happen.
However, in the time period this story takes place, innocent deaths because of someones Awakening have dipped to an all-time low, due to learning how to prevent powers from going berserk.
Now that I have THAT out of the way, just sit back and wait while I finish writing this first chapter of my great and epic story.....I'm sure you'll love it.
