In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

"I believe it is not me who needs proper guidance, Rose. You have potential to learn and fight, which is why I simply hand-picked you from the rest of the brawlers. Now, I can only hope you accept his invitation and if you have any question, which I am sure you do, do not hesitate to ask."
"You want questions? I got lots. First, where am I? Secondly, who are you? Third, why did Halen get jumped by McAsshole here?" She shot Kurt a venomous look, then turned back to the table. "Finally, hand-picked? For what? I don't like being picked for things without being told about it. Last time that happened I had to disable a nuclear warhead." She sat in a chair and motioned for Halen to sit next to her. This time, he did so without hesitation. He was slowing learning his place with this human, and it didn't bother him very much to obey her.
"Jumped?" Kurt pulled up a chair and sat, still impervious to the idea that he had not been invited. "Girly, I'm not the one siding with terrorist that want to see America dead!" He said, pointing a thumb at Halen the Heartless.
"As for what you can help me with, Mick," Kurt said, abbreviating Mikhail's name in a way that was likely unpleasing, "Is you can help me to help you helping me so that I can help you help me to help you. You see, sound like you're building an army. Now that's an American institution. One that you need Americans for. Well, Mick."
He produced a cigarette from his shirt, lit it, and took a long drag.
A sigh could be heard as Kurt finished talking. Arthas stood with his back against a pillar, sword rested against his leg. He gave a nod at Mikhael and said, "Answering your question, I will join the Guardians. I know my disappearence was...inconvenient, but it was nessicary."
He then turned to the girl and said, "To answer for Mikhael, we are a group of people called the Guardains of the Worlds. We are in need of mebers, and Mikhael has obviously been watching you. He himself has hand picked out the best fighters he could get for recruitment." He gave a small chuckle and then said, "And on the subject of where you are, you are in Radiant Garden." Satisfied with his answer, he turned to Mikhael, saying, "Well, they're all yours."
A soft sigh escaped his lips as he slowly shook his head, listening to Rose's question bombing. Her impatient personality was shown to the other quite soon and her short temper looked as if it was about to blow all of them into pieces. Nonetheless, the young ginger reminded Mikhail of his younger self: a free roaming spirit, fearless and ready to take any challenge. He hadn't been willing to give up then, but he had learned better.
Those years were gone now... long gone. Mikhail wouldn't be able to run back and grasp them once more. The darkness continued to spread across the many worlds, corrupting both their heroes and villians further. He himself had changed in the past months, adopting quite a colder and unfriendlier personality. But it was for the best and he knew it quite well.
Anything to keep her away from harm... anything to save his beloved Antique...
He looked at Rose once more, but before he could give her an answer McKlintock decided to play offended and proceed with his "plan". Rutherford's nose wiggled upon hearing his "pet name"; it had been quite a while since he had been called Mik and it sure brought memories back to him, both pleasant and unpleasant.
At the end Kurt offered his aid to the pyromancer, but the latter was quite sure the American was quite oblivious to the purpose of the organization. However, even though he clearly was a self-centered brute, he would prove to be quite an interesting addition to the Guardians. McKlintock would neatly fit in the "tank" category.
And it seemed that the plot to keep Mikhail from speaking wasn't over yet: Arthas decided to take the responsibility to answer pretty much all of Rose's questions as if he was trying to impress someone. Rutherfors's lips curved into a small grin as he jumped into conclusions, his eyes looking from Arthas to Rose.
But hey who was he to judge?
"Please calm down, Rose, I am not here to bring any harm to you." he began, his expression turning serious once more. "As Arthas just said, you are in a world known as Radiant Garden, one of the safest from the Heartless and Nobodies. My name is Mikhail, Mikhail Rutherford and I have come to speak to you about a group of fighters willing to give their lives for peace and balance. I will not force you to join, let it be clear now that it will be your decision."
"The universe is many elements, two of which are crucial for harmony and peace. Light and Darkness. Long story short, the balance has been broken and darkness is getting an upper hand. It swallows entire worlds and consumes them and all life in them. Some people like us were fortunate to survive such events but we are quite a minority and should consider ourselves lucky."
"The Guardians of the Worlds are basically an organization to return this balance to the universe and protect other worlds from destruction. We will fight whoever threatens peace, be it light or dark. Currently, the Heartless are the main threat across the worlds and you could say they are our enemy. However, your Heartless friend seems to be quite... special. Those chains around him... those chains of light... I'm surprised they don't harm him. He seems to be much more civilized than the normal kind of Heartless... tell me, where did you meet him?"
"As for you two, I appreciate your offers. I am glad you have decided to aid me in this quest for balance."
Rose listened carefully as Mikhael reeled off answers that, unfortunately, confused Rose even more. She felt like her head was spinning, as she tried to decide what to respond to first. Perhaps she should just ignore everything else until she could get some straight answers. "I met Halen in a canyon, 'bout half a mile that way. There was this... tear. In the fabric of my world. I went through it, and... Ended up there. At first, Halen attacked me, but something happened. The white lines, or chains, or whatever the hell they are, they flashed. He collasped, and I waited. When he came to, he was freindly. Then he led me here. That's all I really know." She completely ignored McKlintlock, as she considered him not worth a puddle of Raider spit. "I suppose if you guys aren't in the business of wiping out innocents yourselves, I wouldn't mind helping out."

Mikhail listened to what she had to say, paying close attention to her tale. Funny... she had even named the Neoshadow. For some reason, Halen looked quite tame... as if it was bonded to the girl in some way. It would be quite strange to have a Heartless bodyguard, stuck with you due some kind of crazy life debt. Either way, Halen itself was a strange thing; it was almost as if he could still feel.
"Your friend, Halen, shows something that other Neoshadows I've encountered lack. By protecting you from all harm, I believe Halen shows that he has retained some of his... humanity even after he was turned into a Heartless. And those chains of light are what represents it; they hold back his dark instincts."
"But now that you have a Heartless bound to you, you are sure to be targetted by our enemies, Rose. Having tamed Heartless running around does not help them in any way and I am sure they will attempt to destroy you and Halen. I know this must be too confusing for you and you won't feel too comfortable under my protection just yet. So, I'll leave you here for a while if you want to while you clear your mind and eventually come to seek you once more. Sounds good?"
Rutherford turned to Arthas; he already knew what they were supposed to do and probably didn't require more time to thing about it.
"However, I need you to leave this world and go to Traverse Town. The Dark XII will notice our activities soon enough and I need all of us gathered there when the time comes."
"Sounds good, except for one thing. I don't need protection. I've been alone since I was 10." Rose stood, and snapped her fingers. Halen slid into her shadow, and she walked towards the door. She opened it, and took a single look back at the people at the table. Then she left.
Arthas smiled as Mikhail gave him his order to stay in Traverse Town. "Alright, I'm going." he said, turning and opening a portal. "And don't worry, I won't run away this time." He stepped through it and closed it behind him, causing it to disappear in a small flash of light.
A soft chuckle escaped his lips as the girl stood up, ready to leave their little meeting. So confident... so naive... yes, he -had- really been like her in the past. But Rose would know the truth sooner or later; she couldn't stand against the Heartless by herself and she would need others to back her up when the time came to face them. Either way, Mikhail would stay true to his word. He would let her roam around Radiant Garden for a while, but he -would- come and seek her out again.
He turned to face Arthas once more, offering him a grin as he spoke. Yeah, he ought not to run away again... at least not yet. It had been a pain in the ass for Mikhail to track them all down again. By the time Arthas had walked through his portal, Rutherford was already standing, ready to walk away from the table. Eyeing McKlintock one last time, he started to walk away. His mission there was done...
