In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

I have a question about the process by which a Nobody and its Heartless become whole again. Has that process actually been discussed officially by Square Enix, or would that be up to the fans to figure out for now?
well when someone comes back from being a heartless they some how have a body but the nobody is still alive and stays seperate until it wants to be part of the original person
i think this because although namine was touching kairi and was near here often they didnt become one until namine wanted.

=o I would say the heartless have to...recover its humanity before becoming complete entity with its nobody. It as if reversing the process: heart consumed by darkness with a nobody by-product. The heart can't be corrupt to become whole...it wouldn't make sense, since its immense corruption led it to be a heartless.
I doubt its been discussed since it isn't as big of a deal versus other concepts that were more detailed, but given of what was seen...I think we can go off of that little recipe above. *Mcshruggle*
As posted in Ansem's reports in KHII, Sora, Kairi and Riku are all EXCEPTIONS to the rule.
I think it has something to do with Sora and Riku beeing keyblade bearers. And don't forget that Kairi is in fact one of the seven princesses of heart. It was pretty much her power that transformed Sora back from a heartless state.
(using info from 358/2 days, avoid if you don't want spoilers)
When playing Roxas in 358/2 days, you'll soon discover that Roxas has absolutely NO memory of his previous life. While all other nobodies does. That's because the memories, that should remain with the nobody after becoming a heartless, are magicly pulled back to Sora's new body. However with naminé's interference in Sora's memories in CoM, memories of Sora started to leak to Roxas. During moments in 358/2 days, you suddenly remember things of Sora's live.
It is because those memories leaked out to Roxas, that Roxas needed to be found and reunited with Sora to restore his memories. Otherwise Sora would never wake up. In term, Roxas was a nobody, but never a normal one.
And naminé was also never a normal nobody since when Kairi's heart was taken, no heartless was formed. Only a nobody of pure light.
So basicly, the merging of a Nobody and a Heartless to become whole again NEVER HAPPENED in the games. It would also be impossible to figure out with heartless would belong to wich nobody. (well with the exception of the intelligent human looking ones)
There is however a way to restore everything. At the end of KHI, when you defeat ansem and close the door to darkness that leads to Kingdom Hearts. All destroyed worlds and all hearts taken by darkness are restored. Destiny island and all it's inhabitants are recreated. Hollow Bastion is also restored (to a certain degree)
Also in KHI, Simba was a summon. Fairy Godmother explained that when it's world was destroyed, his heart was strong enough to survive. in KHII, pride lands is restored and accesable.
So the merging of nobodies and heartless could therefor only be done with the power of Kingdom Hearts and the keybearers.

Nope
=o I just find that concept...improbable
Kingdom Hearts was in the End of Worlds and restoring everything...practically cleaning out the heartless garbage dump and fixing the broken worlds with kh magical sticky tape.
I doubt Kingdom Hearts can combine heartless and nobodies, because if it did...we wouldn't have Kingdom Hearts II. There wouldn't be existing nobodies or Org XIII...searching for hearts through their own kingdom hearts. Kingdom Hearts would just...purify heartless' hearts...and destroy the thin existence of nobodies...since it's pure light.
IUMA it couldnt be cuz theyre keybears (BBS SPOILER ALERT)
Xehanort/Terra were both keyblade weilders yet xemnas didnt have one and retained the memories of Xehanort/Terra as Ansems student AND their individual ones.
So, the best idea I'm seeing is the one I was already going with, i.e. the heart a heartless is manifesting recovers its light, then the nobody is found and by some mystery process they become one. Question is... what's the process... and what happens if something goes wrong? Are they forced apart, destroyed, or forced into some whole other being? (speaking purely from a story veiwpoint, the "whole other being" bit would be most fun, because that opens up a whole new can of worms, namely, how to complete the process and restore the original.)
(goes off what I know from KH2 and KHwiki) I'm pretty sure Xemnas didn't have any of Master Xehanort's or Terra's memories. After all, they were trapped in Assisstant Xehanort's heart, not his head. Now, Heartless Ansem is another matter. I think we can be sure that Master Xehanort was in control there.

In my opinion so far I like birth by sleep and KH2. I haven't play three yet can't make a final decision. But this is a wonderful example of a way to unite the site as a whole.
