In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

I can't help but notice the difference in form and appearance the character makes.
In Kingdom Hearts we see Cloud in his SOLDIER uniform/whatever it is he actually whore in the Final Fantasy game. He keeps that steady hairstyle with the nice long spiked piece at the top, etc. And, he also carries the famous Buster Sword all wrapped up in tape (how Angeal might have appreciated that...).
In Kingdom Hearts II, we see him in his new outfit -- that of which we see in Advent Children... He has a newer hairstyle (probably much more modern for him, to say the least), and he also carries a NEW weapon. So many people still assume that to be the Buster Sword that he weilds in KH2... but it isn't. The First Tsurugi, composed of six actual sword combined to make another in the shape of the old and happy Buster Sword (I still don't know where it may have disappeared to in KH2, but it must be rusting out somewhere..) is a more modern day version of what he used to have (I still see so many people label his weapon as the Buster Sword when playing him in other RP's at other forum after posting a picture with him holding the FT. A common mistake, I guess.)
What I don't get, however, is how the bloody story fits. It would seem that the FFVII storyline may have not happened entirely. Sure, Aerith/Aeris is still alive, but then where is all this inner Darkness coming from? I could be wrong, but I thought that taking over Zach's memories, and Aerith dying played the major role in that along with the never being a real SOLDIER for Tifa, etc. If Aerith never died how could we know that the events happened with Zach still? Because, in KH2 he wears the outfit from AC, Tifa has hers, Aerith has hers, everyone plays the part. But, its so out of whack.
"I'm not fit to help anyone." Wasn't that mainly because he didn't save Aerith? Sure, falling into that comatose state, blah blah, Zach dying thing, that may be what they are playing off of here in KH, but I really thought Aerith had a huge impact on that as well. How could she not have?
I'm just trying to understand Square's reasoning for keeping Aerith alive, really. And what all this stuff about Cloud finding his light is. He never even mentioned light in either FFVII or AC. They've changed so much. Are there, or are there not any flaws?
That was only a popularity stunt, trying to stretch Final Fantasy VII into the Kingdom Hearts series. I've even heard rumors that Vincent Valentine will be a Heartless in the next No. Kingdom Hearts.
Personally, I prefer playing the games, and just pretend that Cloud actually has a place in it, because he just doesn't belong there... Neither does Sephiroth. The entire FFVII cast should have just been left out, because it mocks the original story with the holes and missing peices.
But persevere! Hopefully they'll come up with a cement reason why Cloud and Sephiroth should stay, because I like fighting them both, even if their attacks are simplistic and unoriginal. They should have kept Omnislash with Cloud, Supernova with Sephiroth, etc.
That makes sense. It was cool fighting him, but too repetitive. I mean, I'd love to see Cloud and Sephiroth play some bigger role in the next game, but like you said I'd want some more reason to their existence there in the first place. Something to explain it all, like for instance at least the mentioning of Zach and his possible relation to the dark inside Cloud (just realized the Jenova genes in him might be considered the darkness. If so, then Zach might not have ANYTHING to do with it, thus the acquiring of the Buster Sword makes no sense then)
I came up with a theory for this a while ago but it was prior to the release of Before Crisis and all the new info about Zack.
but here's what I think:
The ff7 story ended sometime after obtaining Yuffie, Vincent, and Cid(the two hidden and then the final character to join the party). I say this because Yuffie and Cid are obviously apart of the KH Series and during Kingdom Hearts 1, Cloud is seen wearing not only Vincent's cape but also his gauntlet thing. I assume that whenever everyone was scattered from that world that Cloud may have found some of Vincent's belongings.
The story must have ended prior to Aerith's death at the temple of the Ancients because...she's still alive. XD
But obviously a majority of these character's survived their world's destruction.
So I assume that maybe the story, though ended in their own world...is continuing on an alternate route due to the destruction of Gaia. (Ever seen Back to the Future? The part with the chalk board where Doc Brown explains how the timeline skewed due to them fooling around in the past? Yeah. It's like that, but with the ff7 story.) Sephiroth is still out there and toying with Cloud. And Cloud is still trying to rid the world(s) of Sephiroth. Since his friends survived, he's probably still parting up with them every so often...which might explain why he got rid of Vincent's cape and gauntlet. If he partied with Vincent he would have returned his belongings...
As for everyone's clothes...I'd say that maybe they just felt like it was time for a change? haha. The only way I can think to rationalize that was that during the year that Sora was asleep...things changed a bit. People bought new clothes, got hair cuts, etc. Just like Leon let his hair grow a bit and changed his jacket...maybe the ff7 cast decided to give themselves makeovers as well? It's not uncommon in games and anime to see characters permanently changed just based on time going by and their style evolving.
Okay...and onto the Buster Sword. Zack died(as far as we know from the ff7 franchise) and gave Cloud the Buster Sword. During that year that Sora slept; Cloud may have finally awakened those suppressed memories that let him know he was living a false life. You know the part in ff7 where Tifa goes through his memories and we get our first peak at Zack? Yeah. Like Maybe that finally happened in the KH Universe during that year? IF he did awake those memories...Cloud would probably have set up a grave stone with the Buster Sword(like he does in AC) and because he can't really go weaponless...bought a new sword. This could also explain the "I can't help anyone" quote as Cloud would feel bad from not being able to save Zack.
... Disney doesn't hate it when people die, it happens all the time.
Off the top of my head I can name these: Bambi's mother being shot, Hunchbacks mother breaking her neck against stairs, Gaston falling from the castle (if he survived that, he is GOD... "No one survives impeccably long falls like Gaston~"). Tarzan alone has many deaths: Kala's baby, both of Tarzan's parents, Kerchak, Sabor and Clayton.
Disney likes to use deaths to the story's advantage, strengthening the main character and motivating them or rewarding them for a job well done. None of the deaths (except for Quasimodo's mom) are actually seen outright. We only get the silhouette of Clayton's dead body, Gaston disappears into the abyss, Bambi's mom is shot off screen, even Mufasa gets sort of lost in the herd of stampeding wildebeests. Main characters typically don't die. Usually they are missing a parent or two, but I can't think of a Disney film where the main character has actually died and stayed dead. Then again, the same is true for most American films no matter who produces them.
Aeris would be fair game as far as Disney is concerned. She creeps me out anyway...so I give them permission.
It was not drugs that caused this, but hallucinogenic mushrooms! There is a difference!
Also, once two big companies like Square and Disney pair up in the bed-room they really don't care for their continuity. Besides, the explanation they provided was that KH is in a wholly different universe, therefore they have the right to say that damn near anything and everything could be different. Essentially, they have no obligation to the customer to try and fit in their continuity. Many games based on franchises do this, such as Age of Conan and the new Warhammer MMO which takes place in it's own continuity.
Makes sense to me. It's kind of like...stunt casting. If I throw Johnny Depp into my film randomly as a hat salesman in scene 32, it will make more money!
Maybe if I cast Cloud as emo-hero No. 5 1/2 I'll make enough money to buy a new car.
Haha, I'm starting to think that they used the Jenova cells in Cloud as his darkness, and defeating Sephiroth is Cloud's way of stopping that darkness as Sephiroth has that tie there.
As for dropping the Buster Sword and whipping out the FT, I think it actually just had to do with what you said, that they just wanted to give them new looks. It would make sense that the would use the AC theme for Cloud and the others considering it hadn't been released yet, and it made thing easier for them on the count of laziness to come up with anything else. Also, a lot of people like to see clothing from other games/whatever considering that's just how we are.
I don't think Zack had anything to do with what we see in the KH series. I think Cloud and Sephiroth were just put there now to make the game have that side taste for FF lovers (to get them to buy the game too), and to build off the symbolism of inner darkness and the whole aspect of light we see throughout the game.
