In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Alas, I had heard about this game half a year back from a person at an anime convention... and I was quite happy to hear about it. So I came, made my characters, and figured I'd have a great time...
Then... for some reason... when responding in OOC threads asking about simple suggestions and what not, whenever I'd give my honest opinion or perhaps some advice, I wasn't simply politely told "no, I don't think that's a good idea", I was told in essence, "No, go burn in hell". Excuse me? I don't recall doing anything to really piss anyone off here, and tried to get along, and yet repeatedly (and for no real valid reason, I might add), people seemed to hate me... I've no clue what I did to anger them.
What's more, I've tried on several occasions to start a thread or join on, but within two to three posts, the other person usually bails... Fearon at least lasted a few pages, but even he went poof. I even tried a different approach - making a static-growth type character instead of a dynamic-growth type one (Lelita). I asked permission first, asking if the idea for the character was okay with the admin or not. But no admin or even moderator replied. Those who did seemed to be okay with it, so I went ahead and made it...
But now it seems Sephiroth ain't cool with it. I mean... come on... I asked permission beforehand, it'd have been nice had they had said that they didn't like the idea of a summoner character BEFORE I went and put the effort into making them, but it wasn't until a minor issue was brought up that this was brought to my attention. When I went and asked about it, it turns out the character would be pretty much moot under this GM. It didn't matter that I'd planned to have this character ultimately defeated by the good guys (especially since there seems to be no such thing as good guys in this RP at the moment), but that doesn't seem to matter.
The thing is, without the plot moving forward, minor characters (like mine are designed to be) have NOTHING to do. Literally, all the thread I'd make would basically involve them wondering around aimlessly, waiting for activity to find them. It'd be a totally different story if the plot would GO SOMEWHERE... I could easily deal with being treated like a piece of crap and with having to totally scrap a character after they were accepted, and heck, even the rampant (and accepted...) powerplaying despite the supposed "intermediate to advanced only" requirement, if it meant I still had the ability to RP... but... No matter how many times I've advertised their availability to RP with, as I said, most people who answer disappear from the RP within two to three posts. If the plot was actually moving somewhere, there'd easily be things for my characters to interact with, but... it's going nowhere fast.
And no, I'm not blaming the admin. And YES, I know you all have lives. But there comes to be a point where this just gets ridiculous. People whine time and time again that something needs to be done, and EVERYONE agrees with them... yet NOBODY does anything about it. And when someone suggests something different (or even a compromise of sorts), they treat it like a crime... I at least thank Sage for always being kind and friendly with me, and Elaeus for at least being polite and respectful when he disagreed with me.
However... with how little IC activity I've been having here, and with the way people have been treating me... I dunno if I should really stay. I'd love to keep roleplaying here... but... that means I'd need to actually have a way to stay active. As things currently are, every attempt I make to be active in the IC dies just as it begins, and it's quite frustrating. I still haven't made my mind up about it, but...
Well, role, me and elaeus' character Erika Monika will be back in Twilight Town soon. Maybe your characters can join them? We kind of have something we're working for(I've been trying hard to keep giving the group stuff to do), so.......why not have your characters join up with us? It'll be a way to keep you at least somewhat involved ic-wise.
And, idunno if you've noticed, but I've taken your viewpoint in a few suggestion threads, and against you as well. When I was against your viewpoint, I was always courteous about it. Idunno if I failed or if you just didn't notice, but I'm just trying to point out one more ally you have here. Lol
Oh, yes, I know. The reason I mentioned Elaeus instead of you (on a couple occasions actually), was that in those situations, though you agreed with me, he had disagreed yet was polite about it. Sage happens to be in contact with me quite a lot, and we've become friends. They just happened to be better examples to get my point across. But I appreciate you, as well as the other members whom have been nice and respectful.
As for the character thing, the problem I've been having is more than just not being able to post... it's that the plot isn't moving. The bad guys are too busy scheming to do anything, and the good guys are nowhere to be found. My characters are minor unless the global plot forces them into the spotlight. That's how they were designed. I didn't come here thinking that I'm a main character or crap like that. I came here with minor, support characters. Characters designed to give more of a richness and flavor to the RP, instead of just another random powerful person. In fact, compared to most, they're actually weak... Lelita, whom was designed to be a boss type character, is the exception to this, of course.
But in a PM to me when I was asking about how summons are done, Sephiroth, the GM, said he didn't like the whole idea of summons. Common Sense says that if the GM doesn't like an idea, then a character whom's ENTIRE CONCEPT revolves around that idea ain't gonna do too well in the RP. Like I said, I wish he's spoken up a bit sooner.
So sure, I'll be trying to hang around a while longer, and if I can, I'll go ahead and take you up on your offer, but as it stands right now... there's just not that much going on here. At least nothing that'd be important enough to have my characters in a situation that they'd level up in. I'd love for that to change, but... Until the people with power stop whining that they "have lives" and actually DO SOMETHING, nothing much is really going to happen.
I mean... I have a life too, you know. And I still try to find time to GM 3-4 different RPs on top of partaking in this one. Their whining is really starting to get annoying, but if anyone tries to speak up about it, they start yelling to get off their ass. And with the major players taken by people like that, the plot's gonna go nowhere fast. It's usually the job of the GM to step in in such situations and strip people of their rights to use major characters, but the GMs I've seen in this game, though respectable, have been too lax.
the choice is yours. You can deal with this place, you can leave this place. sorry to say this but we can't decide for you. You already know what i'd like for you to choose, but i'd also like you to choose to stay here or chose to leave. I'm not gunna get into the conversation mess here (too risky for my taste and you already know the action im taking) so im just here to wish you luck...
Good luck my friend. Whatever path you choose I hope it's what you truely want to do!
Well, role, when the so-called "major" players start disappearing, who is there to keep things active? The ones with normal characters like us.
Now, I am inclined to agre with role on the fact that the staff does too much deliberating and not enough acting. Any staff members reading this, please do not take this the wrong way, but I see this RP heading for failure, and it's getting there fast. There is too small a group that holds all the power, anf this group is called the "canon characters". This is a decent problem with this site. The canons are overpowered, plain and simple. They are, from much of what I've seen, allowed to havr twice as much ability and powers as almost any original character. This means that most original characters would hardly even stand a chance of surviving a fight against any of the main bosses, much less defeating them in a fight.
I'm not saying weaken the canons, necessarily. I'm saying that either thr canons need to be weakened, OR the originals need to be allowed to be stronger.
My best example is this: my newest character, Oswald Sytt, is a 54 year old mage who has no physical fighting ability whatsoever. A staff member wished for his abilities to be reduced. So, I reduced them. Then, said staff member came back AGAIN and told me to not only essentially cut his powers in half, but also wanted me to make it so that he could barely wield the only weapon he had to defend himself with, magic.
As you all know, I'm sure, the character was eventually seen to be fair as he was at the time said staff member asked me to put these severe limitations on this character, but I have seen other characters with perfectly reasonably spell levels when compared to Sora(these characters were within a few years of Sora's age), and yet they were still asked to tone down their powers because they were too strong. I find this rather unfair. I say that if sora, at 15, can have thunder, blizzard, fire, magnet, reflect, and cure mazed out at the -Ga level, then a character close to his age should at least be able to cast spells fully into the -ra level to keep a balance of power between the canons and the originals.
If this idea does not appeal to you staff, I have an alternate option: set tighter limits on canons. Allow only one canon character per member, and set a specific number of posts they must make in a certain length of time in order to keep this canon. I have seen these kinds of rules on other sites before, and they have kept a balance between any kind of canon and original characters.
Also, I know there are many members here with multiple keyblade wielders. I do not say take some of their characters, keyblades away. By all means, allow them to keep what they have so-far earned. But, in the future, keep the number of keyblade wielding characters a member may have down to one, whether you limit the number of canons or not. This will further serve to keep the power spread out among the member instead of concentrated among a small group of members.
I know I haven't been here long, and I know this post will probably anger several people, but, I'm telling you, I have many years of experience with RPGs, and I have seen many a good site die because of the problems I see in this site.however, I also are this site can be turned around if things are done right. This is the only well set up kingdom hearts RP I've seen, and I would hate to see it die the slow death I see coming to it. I really do enjoy being on this site. This is why I am saying all of this: to let you know what I see coming. Every site I've seen on this path has died. Not one has survived because none of the staff would listen. They acted like they were the ultimate authority about everytthing that needed doing and that the normal members were, essentially, ignorant of the site's "true" needs. I my suggestion would be to create a HELL of a lot of polls and set deadlines for when discussion on them will end. Then, as soon as the poll is over, deliberate amongst yourselves and give a deadline to when you make a decision on the issue, and announce the deadline to the members if you must to force yourselves to keep the deadline.
And, please, staff members, I ask that you do not bring up the fact that you have lives again as the reason you cannot do all of this. If your lives are that much more important to you than this site(which I do not condemn you for, if it is, just so I am not mistaken in this. I myself have a life, and I do not intend to give it up), then I ask you to give up your position as a staff member to those who DO have the time to do the necessary moderation to get this site back on track, even if only temporarily. I can tell you, I do have a life, but not much of one. My days mostly consist of doing a lot of exercising to prepare myself for basic training. Beyond that, I do little other than play video games. I am one of those people who could be given the power to help the site, even if only temporary(and temporary my time would be, if given, since I leave for 8 weeks for basic training on October 13)
So, please, staff members who happen to be reading this, please do not reply immediately after reading this, especially if my post makes you angry. If you must, take time to cool off before returning. Think about what I've said, and mull it over. THEN come back and reply after you've thought about it. That is all I ask of you. Thanks-a-million!
That's nothing. I saw a character who applied and was ACCEPTED as a 20-something white mage knowing FLARE, HOLY, AND ULTIMA. Three of the four most powerful spells in all of final fantasy. One of which was BLACK MAGIC! You DEFINITELY got the short end of the power-player stick on that one.
Personally, I'm sick of seeing all these static-growth characters. Everyone has loads of power, JOY!~ You know... EXCEPT my Twilight Trio. They're a lowly level 5, and will only level up when they partake in a major Global (effects the whole RP), Local (within the World), or Character (something important to the character, such as Atreyus gaining a keyblade, or Morrisa becoming an apprentice to a denizen of darkness) plot... But...that's going nowhere, because even Character plots are things that are dependent on other characters or the GMs. Morrisa is the only one I've actually got something worked out for in this regard. But what needs to happen is what needs to happen in ANY RP... plot progression. Sure, it may be dependent on us lesser characters, but we cannot do anything to affect the global plot without the aid of the main characters.
I agree with you 100%, though, that there's a lot of problems in this RP. But if you point them out, the board vets will find you and try to tear you apart. But... that's the problem, too... many of the board vets are the ones causing the problems. And the GM? They're being too lax on them.
I mean, I don't know how many times I've seen a thread saying "lulz, gais, we needz to find a way to make us bettar!". When I give my opinion on these threads, and it's not "Do nothing, what we have going now is great!", I get bashed. And many of these ideas? THEY WORK. I know this from experience, but apparently that's not good enough. I'm too "new" to know how anything works here... >_>
Well, that's not exactly what I've seen happen here role. I think people just get a little overzealous with their points. And, so far as my character getting the short end of a power-playing stick, I don't care. I am a very experienced RPer. I have played in RPs ranging in premise to a post-apocalyptic world overrun by vampires and werewolves with only a few humans with super powers left to fend for themselves to an RP based on Christoger Paolini's Inheritance Cycle. I've learned how to innovate my battles even when constrained to spells and certain abilities to be able to catch most opponents off-guard and gain the upper hand. However, my concern about the imbalance of power is the newest RPers, the ones with little experience. I'm afraid they're just going to be smacked around and slaughtered as cannon fodder for the overpowerred canons, or used as a way for the canons to save the day, once again giving that select group all the glory.
But, hey, if there's enough, member cooperation, all of this can be fixed. It'll be more friendly to the newer RPers, boosting member numbers, and somewhat help save the site from extinction.
Seriously though, I think a good percentage of where the problem lies in terms of your issues RPing, Role, is the manner in which you do it. There is nothing inherently wrong with your leveling system, the stats, the preperation and detail, but it is not what this site is tailored for, making you a unique case which some, likely most, find intimidating and daunting. It isn't you, persay, as much as it is the "two shades of blue" you encounter when role playing with a generic RPer on this site. Some sites are geared towards that kind of style, this one is not. You may have ideas, good ones at that, but they are not ideal in a situation like this. That may be why there is hostility.
I agree to a degree. Canon characters are held on a higher pedastal compared to OC's. But rightfully so. They have been establised as powerful, whereas bringing on an OC and claiming himself to be as great as Sora is downright terrible roleplaying. If you want to be that great, you need to prove you are great, find your own journey, evils to conquer, events to persevere through. If you want to just be handed the ability and power, well frankly, you shouldn't be writing on a board that claims to be "intermediate to advanced". Most of the OC's are children, the vast majority no older than 16. They are too young to have any kind of true power, save a few special cases, and are really only getting by out of devotion of spirit. Should wandering children really be a match for Eleaus or Axel, even Yuffie? Lord no. That is why the Canons are and should be forever more powerful than the everyday OC.
Some of which does lend itself to other problems; members who get accepted who should not, members getting turned down due to outdated rules on profiles, and don't get me started on problems with staff. Seph can attest, I've been a mighty loud opponent on the staff being and playing as an "inner-circle" who promotes from within. Members have left because of it. But they are real-life friends, so the problem is deeper than on-site relations.
Fortunately, Sephiroth has since decreed that EVERY thread is plot, as it rightfully should. All you need to do, if you want to get your character involved in the goings-on is PM someone else and propose a serious and dire plot. No longer are you tied down by Canon's deciding the events, or waiting endlessly for a staff member to post a thread that means something. In less than two weeks time, i have gotten my main OC placed directly into the middle of a large plot which has the potential to change a lot of status quo's on many Worlds. The reason I now record and promote the PlotCast podcast are to help advertise these types of events so others can get involved.

The following may be a little harsh, I apologize ahead of time.
Sumdood--
Alright, I'm just going to say it here and now (if you don't wish to read this, scroll down to the bottom of this message for you), I'll be surprised if anyone says it's like me to say this, because it's not. Sumdood, I appreciate you voicing your opinions, but the line where you're saying that we should give up our staff positions if we can't get to something because of our lives. First off, today I woke up at 6 to go to soccer, I have to get my permit (because I forgot to bring needed papers), I have to go to the dentist (Super...), I have to a ton of other things too, but what I'm getting at is that you're going to see a long rant from me. I'm going to say that yes my life isn't as important than the site, I'm going to say that my life it slightly more important. If the site dies, I'm not going to go over the deep end because it was my life. Here's the thing, if you're suggesting that if our lives are more important than the site that we have to give up our staff membership then I will.
Don't immediately go now, "Oh, Sephiroth, Sage doesn't want to be a member anymore". That's not it, I'm on everyday and I'm sure a lot of people will see my appreciation for the site, but what I'm saying is that just because you don't value a site next to your life doesn't mean you can't be an important person on that site. A while back I had drivers ed and didn't have the time to go accept profiles, I apologize, luckily I'm back accepting profiles. What you did when correcting that staff member that Oswald's powers were fair was right, I'm sure that staff member just needed to get back into the hang of things. Sometimes though it feels like a punch in the stomach when you say it's going to die. Yeah, I've been noticing some key signs of that being possible, but I'm trying to get things rolling here even though we don't really know what's going on here. Notice how I didn't say, "Sorry, I'm too busy" but instead said, "I'm trying" We all are, and that's what we need to get the site moving.
You said we need to limit things, why don't you set a good example? The best you can do is basically show that your character isn't the type that can defeat Sora with one hand tied behind their back. I'm doing the same, hey, just recently Sage got a weapon. For about a year and a half she's been running around the site without a weapon. As for the multiple Keyblades I can only think of one member and the fact is, if a person you loved died, I hope you would want their character to hang onto them. That was a special case, I don't like when someone accuses without knowing the story. I'm sorry for saying what I am, but things snap when I read false accusations. I'm not saying you're accusing anyone sumdood (Can't find the right word at the moment), but please, help the site out by giving suggestions kindly instead of saying them within a post pointing out all the mistakes that have happened.
Rook--
I do not believe that Role is to blame for this, I have read several nasty comments to her and I have not heard ONCE from someone that was so rude to her to say sorry. Both of you I think take a look at each other's names for a thread and groan. Honestly, you want the hostility to stop, (Role, you too), then why don't you two start by just becoming friends. Start by, "Hey, nice idea, but I think that it just doesn't go as well as this one, still it was a good thought" It's not putting anyone down and it's not like you're saying "Hey, I hate it, next!" Can you two just get along? For the sake of the site? Please? *Puppy dog eyes*
Role--
I'm sure I've expressed my opinions on this, but whatever you choose to do is your choice (obviously). Don't ask the people of the site to choose because I'm sure there will be people that might say what you don't want to hear. For them, I hope that in the years to come they realize how rude that is. I don't want to be mean to anyone on the site and if I end up coming off as mean, then I apologize, know that whatever you said was really hurtful. If you end up leaving, remember, stay in touch with me. I would love for you to stay on the site, and have Relena meet Morissa, remember that? I don't want you to leave because of mistakes we've made and hurtful people, but if it comes to that than I wish the best.
Zidane: YEAH! I want to steal that nifty Summoning Charm from Lelita! D=
But moreso than that! I've never gotten the chance to RP with you! And You cannot leave until I do! If after you RP with me, you want to leave...*Sniffles* then thats okay...*sniffle* But Don't leave just yet!
Well...Sage pretty much said all I was going to say (Darn me and not looking at stuff sooner). But one thing that did make me go "Oh no you didn't" was what you said about having a person have only one keyblade. I KNOW that was directed at Cranlon, cause he is the only one that has two keywielders. And if that wasn't directed at him then I'm sorry for saying that. But why limit someones RP'ing? If the site deems them worthy to have control over two keybladers (Or more) then why strip them of that?
---Role
.......I really don't know what to say. Again, I got to this late. All my words have been chosen. ^.^
I finally thought of what to say. (*Gold Star'd*) Anyway. You JUST made that summoner character right? So why leave when you have a character that can essentially be deeply involved in the plot? (Not much...but hey)
Honestly, I've never seen her name ON a thread. I haven't gone looking, mind you, but I don't brand people "RP compatible" or "non-RP compatible". If they are in a thread that is open, looks interesting, and can advance my own story, I'll join anyone. Real life grievances with other members do not follow me into writing.
That said, I can't find anything about my post that would indicate harsh intent or feelings. If I've ever disagreed with her, I have been blunt about it (which is my way), but I've never namecalled or insulted her or her ideas in them. I give reasons why they don't work, which makes sense, but I never told her to take her ideas and leave. "For the sake of this site"? Trust me, between Sephiroth and I, we've had some good arguments over creative content, and we're all still here. I've nothing against Role, personally. As I said, i don't think all her ideas would be best implemented on this site, but that doesn't mean I think they suck.
Okay, sage, please pardon me for saying this if you take offense in any way, but what I'm saying is what I have honestly seen. This site is JUST BEGINNING to head Down a slow path to death. It may not take long(possibly as short as months) or it May take a while longer(possibly years). I once saw a VERY strong RP go from its peak to death in two months, destroying friendships and the like in the process. I'm napret if that's hurtdil to you, but it IS the truth, and sometimes the truth can hurt.
And, seed, I wasn't directing the keyblade thing at anyone. I DID know there were at least two people with More than one keyblade wielder(shiay and cranlon), and I didn't know how many others they may be since almost all of the reference threads on that kind of stuff are severely outdated.
Now, on to the rest of it.
Sage, I am sorry if me saying a staff member doesn't have time for the site should step down, but I'm sure everyone would agree that having someone as a staffie who doesn't have time to do their job on the site NEEDS to step down to give somebody who does have the time the ability to do what's needed. I am not saying if one day passes and you can't get on then you should lose your staff position. Hell no, I would never say that. I AM saying that, though you may be trying, merely trying isn't enough. Something actually need to be accomplished instead of attempted. A good effort is great, but if you want to save this site, action NEEDS to be taken, instead of the staff endlessly deliberating it.
Now, Rook, about the canons being more powerful than the originals? Yeah! Okay! I'm not saying being the originals up to the canon level. I'm saying the gap between canon and original power is rather large on this site. I mean, not all canons should even necessarily be stronger than a typical original because in-game, they haven't earned it. One example I'd like to use is Kairi(not as played as any members here on the site though). If she were to get into a fight with my character Max, who was a soldier in a war on his world against hosedes of heartless for three years, who should win? Certainly not Kauri, who is still new to her keyblade. Anyone who says differently has a skewed way of thinking or has a canon and doesn't want to lose ANY power. Thick about what I,m saying, though. I'm not saying my character Max should be fighting on par with Xemnas, Sephiroth, Ansem, Sora, Riku, etc. I AM stating that the gap in power between canons and originals needs to be lessened, especially when you see characters who are sora's she getting told to reduce their powers when they barely had even a quarter of his power. Or my character, Oswald, getting told to pretty much reduce his magical ability to less than that of a 15 year old(which it still technically is, since Sora's got a larger list of spells still).
Also, you want examples of how I think the canons need to be limited more? I already gave some:1 canon per person, and a posting requirement(such as posting at least once every few days or so). Many members have two of the more powerful canons for themselves, and many of the people who hold these canons are in this select group of people who hold the canons, centralizing the power of the RPG in a very small group of members(who also happen to control all of the keyblades as well) I'm saying there are a few new rules to be made to lessen gaps and even the playing field member-wise. In my honest opinion, it's unfair for someone to have two very powerful canons, along with a keyblade wielder on top of that. It's just not fair to the other members, who are left with the weaker canons and their suppressed originals.
There are a few other points I have, but my fingers hurt from typing on this blackberry for so long, so I'll type them In later, if the need arises.
