PowersWith his faithful lyre, Sonata can manipulate his opponent’s emotions by directly affecting their nervous system. The music directly resonates within the enemy’s brain, thus deaf people are not immune to his songs. Being a master when it comes to the arts, Sonata has learned to play many songs, requiems and serenades. Each of them, however, has a different effect.
Sentiment’s Lament: Sonata’s main technique, which is divided in five steps.
First Step: (0:00 – 1:00) The beginning of the requiem. Sonata’s music invades the enemy’s nervous system (or brain), opening a door for his illusions. The victim(s) will be tricked into seeing clones of the musician emerge from basically everywhere, increasing Sonata’s evasiveness and amplifying his power.
Second Step: (1:02 – 2:08) The main attack starts now, beginning with an apparent innocent drowsiness that invades the opponent’s body. This, however, makes their reflexes pretty much useless and lowers their evasiveness. The Sonata clones would be then multiplied in number.
Third Step: (2:10 – 2:22) The nature of this step casts a paralysis on the sleepy opponent’s mind, leaving them most likely unable to defend themselves or attack. Sonata usually stops here but when facing a dangerous opponent or simply an annoyance wishing to be destroyed he proceeds to end the requiem.
Fourth Step: (2:22 – 2:40) The seal of unconsciousness. By playing this part of the requiem, the musician sets the final effect of the song as a short coma sealing the enemy’s consciousness away. The status’s effect varies, going from a few hours to even a week.
Alternate Fourth Step: (2:43 – 3:07) The seal of death. By playing this step instead of the traditional fourth step, Sonata sets the final effect of the song to the quiet death of the enemy. Used only when facing a REALLY dangerous opponent. (Rarely Used, and only with permission of the other RPer(s))
Fifth Step: (3:09 – 3:34) The end of the requiem. Depending on the previous step, its effects may vary. To finish the song, full concentration is needed; this means that if Sonata is attacked or even disturbed in the slightest while he plays the fifth step, the fourth step’s seal will break and he will have to start from the third step once again.
A Serenade for Melpomene (Until 2:03): By playing this melody Sonata is able to manipulate his foe’s emotions, breaking their will to fight by having sorrow emerge from their darkest memories. The music affects the nobodies’ fake emotions, though at a minor extent.
Demeter’s Prayer: One of Sonata’s gleeful themes, used as his main healing. The song works as a field of leech seeds, stealing energy from the enemy while refreshing the musician and his allies. The healing process, however, is interrupted when the song comes to an end or is interrupted by another force.
Desire and Lust (Until 1:36): The effects of this song can be only activated after playing the first or second parts of Sentiment’s Lament. Having settled on the enemy’s mind, Sonata will play this melody, giving him the ability to twist his illusions’ appearance to match the enemy’s loved ones’ and confuse them. If the song is interrupted, the illusions will simply change back to Sonata’s forme.
The Great Hunt: One of the lyre’s offensive techniques. While playing this song, Sonata’s lyre launches several waves of piercing sound energy from its plucked strings, intending to harm his foes. This works well with Sentiment’s Lament’s first step, and even better with the second one.
A Mother’s Instinct: One of the musician’s defensive themes. Sonata casts a combination of protect and shell around him and surrounding allies. If one with dark ties or a corrupted heart attempts to cross it, moderate damage will be dealt.
The Sun’s Flight: When things get tough and he’s given no choice but to rest, Sonata honors the sun by playing a summoning melody, calling forth a creature from the flames: a griffin. It would soon proceed to attack those opposing his master, protecting him and giving him a break from the fight. The griffin’s attacks, however, are not fatal as its purpose is to be a distraction. If the melody is interrupted, the creature will simply disappear.
Sonata’s Dream: Drawing the power hidden deep down in his soul, Sonata gives life to his inner dreams with Sentiment’s magic. The sound waves can be either used to express feelings or thoughts through illusions or to attack nearby enemies.
The Price of War: By playing this song, Sonata will attempt to find the right frequency that agitates the atoms of the enemy’s brain, harming it in the process. If he ends up being successful, the song will deal severe mental damage. However, this is a song difficult to play for the lyre player, the reason being that this is the last one he has learned.
A known trait of the Firefox race is their ability to transform into a fox. Sonata is no exception, being able to shift into a pure corsac fox when things get rough.

Sonata’s Lyre, usually known as Sentiment. It is quite a special lyre, a reliable object that belonged to his now deceased mother. When it was repaired by Hermes, it was blessed with powerful holy protection, making it hard to be damaged as well as unable to be played by everyone except its true wielder.

Appearance
Human Forme:Standing around 6' 1" and weighing about 170 pounds, Sonata is pretty tall. Long lean legs make him seem taller than he really is, leaving him with a smaller torso. His face is devoid of any blemishes, with high cheekbones and a pointy chin to match a pair of pointy ears. A small tattoo has been painted under his left eye as a reminder of his oath to the Gods. His eyes are rather sharp and narrow, full grey yet without emotion. A pair of curved and thin eyebrows show slight sadness, but this is often overlooked. While he does have some muscle, Sonata’s body is not that bulky as one would be expecting, taking a lean, lanky build instead. This has proved to be surprisingly useful, making his moves swift and agile in case things get rough.
His skin tone is really pale and he likes to keep it that way, preferring the dark and cold over the bright and hot. Protecting a temple does not give much room for going out and hang out, and Sonata prefers to live that way. Nonetheless, his most striking feature would be his hair of silver, bright and long enough to reach a little under his shoulders. It’s soft to the touch, so soft that many of the city’s women have tried to find out his secret with little to no success.
Regarding his everyday outfit, Sonata lacks the armor and heavy protection worn by his fellow warriors, believing it would certainly slow him down. Other than that his wardrobe is pretty much boring, consisting in black, black, black, and… yes, you guessed it! Black! To start off he always wears a personalized vest without sleeves, buttoned all the way up unless he’d want to seduce some random girl (won’t happen). His seemingly endless collection of black pants can’t possibly be left out, fastened by, yes, a black belt. For his footwear, Sonata wears a pair of comfy black sandals or sneakers, depending on his location. Either way they are easy for him to move around.
And the cherry on the top, his black arm warmers to make him look all badass and cool.
Fox Forme:When Sonata uses his shifting ability, he transforms into an adorable corsac fox. His fur is gray in color with silver undertones, the under parts being white with yellow undertones. It is also white under the chin and is thick and soft all over. The back is intensively hoary-reddish, and the tip of the tail is black. The Corsac Fox has hooked claws and is able to climb trees with ease. Even though it is quite hard to notice, his tail and chest fur look as if they were burning in white fire, this being a thing that sets him apart from other Corsac Foxes.
Personality
Sonata is one of those quiet types of people that won’t talk unless spoken to. Throughout his life he has figured out that most people are not always what they seem so he usually lets them do the talking first. One of the first things he learned was not to lower his guard or underestimate his opponents, no matter how weak and useless they look. The musician’s trust is not something he usually gives away as a freebie; it is something built with time and he’ll expect a fair share of the other’s trust in return.
Now, friendship is not one of Sonata’s daily words and he absolutely lacks a great amount of such bonds. If he considers you a friend, it probably means he cares a lot for you. And when I say a lot, I mean it. There are times, however, when he –does- speak and his words usually come out as either praises or lectures. He is a firm believer of the Olympian Gods and his judgment is greatly influenced by them; he has pledged loyalty to the goddess Athena and was thus trusted to guard her temple, the Parthenon.
Sonata’s faith in the Gods is not to be questioned and he’ll abandon his calm persona when one gets the fabulous idea of insulting them in his presence. He can be quite menacing when angered so it is not a good idea to play around with the idea. His love for the deities is so great he’d be willing put sacred objects or places before him, unable to care less about his survival.
When it comes to battle, the musician prefers to adopt a calm defensive technique and he is known in the nearby cities to “play with his food before eating it”. He would rarely kill, though, most likely limiting himself to incapacitate or immobilize the opponent. Sonata is quite indifferent when it comes to terms such as light and darkness, simply knowing evil as those opposing or disturbing the Gods.

Background
Yorani was a large world of woodlands reigned by peace. It was the home of the firefox, a humanoid race wielding the power to shift into the fox. Most of these creatures lived in a wide plain under the rule of one King Firefox, each of them serving their lord and fulfilling their tasks. Sonata’s father was a traveler, a fine explorer who had longed to visit other worlds and had recently succeeded in his task. Sonata’s mother, on the other hand, was one of the royal caretakers, maiden and loyal servant of the Queen.
Their meeting was quite awkward, but the connection was immediate and strong. The relationship was sealed once the male gifted the female an object he had adquired in his travels, a lyre, and their child would be born months later. He was one lucky firekitsune, a small child that would stop his cries upon listening to his mother play a lullaby.
Sonata would be his name.
He lived the first six years of his life peacefully in Yorani, learning how to control his shifting abilities. Though he used this power to pull a few jokes at first, the boy would soon calm his spirits and begin to use the ability in a responsible way. Unfortunately the Heartless would touch Yorani, and though there had been only a few sightings Sonata’s father knew what they could do at their worst. Thus, the family left Yorani, arriving at a new world known as Olympus Coliseum eighteen years before the events of the original Kingdom Hearts.
Sonata’s mother would begin to teach the boy how to play her lyre, instructing him in simple melodies of hope and joy. All was well… or so it seemed. When the young male turned ten, tragedy would strike the family when his mother fell ill. There was nothing the local doctors could do and it seemed that it was the local gods’ will that lead her to her death. Sonata was filled with a deep sorrow and fell into depression, hating the Olympian Gods for taking his mother away. The musical instrument broke and he stopped playing for a few years.
However, his views about them would change upon having a series of faithful encounters with Hermes, the messenger of the Gods. The first visit did no good and just fueled the teenager’s angered. A month later the messenger would return, this time repairing the young man’s mother’s lyre as a token of peace. Sonata’s rage was calmed by then and after a third visit Hermes succeeded in changing the boy’s hostility toward the Gods into devotion and loyalty.
At the age of fifteen, Sonata left his father’s house to join the community as a servant of the Gods, learning more about Athens’ culture and its people. He would soon be known for his musical talents and many would just visit the temple in order to listen to him playing. At some point of his life as a follower of the Gods, Hermes paid him one last visit. He sent to reveal why he had been “chosen”. The man turned out to have special abilities related to his music; he seemed to be able to manipulate people’s minds with it. He was told to go and protect one of the temples in Greece and wait for further instructions. Thus, Sonata pledged allegiance and loyalty to Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, and was sent to the Parthenon to protect it from the “non-believers”.
And there he remains… honoring the gods with his music… waiting for further instructions…

Woo, I finally finished this profile. It had been waiting in the work in progress room since last December XDD. I asked Sage for permission to use her world, Yorani, and her humanoid race, the Firefox, as a basis for this character. <3
