Powers:Van has the power bend and concentrate light, creating illusions and other tricks, as well as making beams deadly to darkness.Even though Van is the new Light, all of his powers that were deep inside his Heart were locked away until he wielded KnoX, unlocking his latent powers.If his heart were to sway in the wrong direction, he might become a different person altogether through the sword.
Enlightened Owl: A Large owl is summoned that can battle with him or take him across the Lanes Between.
Sanity's Will: Works much like esuna, but can also banish Heartless with low power.
Cura:Heals wounds
Shine: He forms light magic which can take many shapes, even animals.
Weapon:Knox, a sword forged in ancient times by The Jewel of the Heart, reflecting the user's heart.This weapons many forms are directly connected to Van's heart because of the Jewel of the Heart. Since this is connected to his heart he can summon it at any time.The sword can be used to unlock any ones latent power, but only if Van wills it to do so, and this can be reversed anytime at his command.
As for the pictures of Knox's variable forms, i will use Keyblades becuase the have the best scheme pattern for weapons. Just bear with me and block out the Chain and the teeth.

Appearance: Van has not been seen very often, but when he is, he is always wearing bright colors under a white jacket. His eyes are Grey, looking quite old for his age. His brown hair is usually covered with a cap, with spectacles underneath.His voice often contradicts his hight, being very deep for a 5'6.He has a long, white scar across his chest that he had received from the Bonding with Knox.This scar glows in distress, and in his limit it becomes an "X" .He is very slightly hunched back from slouching, but not at the stage were he has a hump.
Personality: He is often distracted, being diagnosed ADD, and is very fidgety. If he thinks something is wrong, he can't keep his big mouth shut! He is very proud an doesn't like to admit it when he's wrong, so he lies more than he prefers. He gets very anxious during battle and if his back is against the wall, he goes for an all out tactic. If a life is threatened, he comes to the call, as is his nature.

He lead King James's army and defended Castle of Reigh.The King rewarded him with a small Jewel said to Bestow great power unto any weapon it was Forged with. Duran gave up Kon, his blade, and into it was forged KnoX.The jewel was named Jewel of the Heart, for reflecting the power of the user's inner Heart.

Van had had a bad life, his parents were poor, they barley got by, and debts had started to close in when he was 13.But then his great grandfather died, leaving everything to them.It was great living there, but he always remembered the times he had with John, his Great Grandfather, and it was painful.Even more so that he was left a bitter-sweet present from him. John had left his sword, KnoX, for him. John had taught him how to use swords since he was 9 and every summer since. It was the best part about coming there, but he couldn't find it in himself to practice.
On his 16th birthday, January 1st, at midnight, they had celebrated being debt free for the first time in years.He also decided to pick up Knox, The slick silver sword, and practice .As soon as he touched it, a sensation ran up his arms. As soon as it reached his head, he felt a surge of memories lash through his head that weren't entirely his.In a second, he lived a lifetime, as a man named Duran, and he began to know what was happening. "The Bonding" he said. It was a process John went through, as he soaked up and combined his skill with Duran, he knew more than a human should.A scar that Duran had formed on his chest.He had become "Enlightened" and he was about to Traverse Town, a world Screaming to be cleansed of Darkness.
Role Playing Sample: As Van blew out his candles on his birthday cake, he fell into one of those rare moments he had since John had died."Happy" was the emotion, solemn to come out. As he ate his slice and looked at the clock. "12:00, I better go to bed." he thought then realized it was Friday. Today was the new year, and his resolution was to wield Knox once again.As he left his mom started to tear, but he didn't notice. He got dressed and headed for the sparring area outside. As he reached out to unsheathe Knox, he was paralyzed on contact.
As the sensation went up his arm, he felt pains and joys of another life. He cried in pain as he got slashed, inside another body, receiving a scar across his chest.When he understood what he was, what John was, and finally asked aloud "Duran, are you there, or am I nuts"? "I'm here"The Light said"but we do not have time. Your parents know were you going, as they were told of your Destiny."Take us to Traverse Town, a city clouded in Darkness, to unlock the Door to your Heart!" "But what is my-" Van said as Duran tapped into Van's power, using KnoX to summon the owl, Merui."It's nice to see you again, Merui" Duran said telepathically. The owl cooed, as if understanding as they flew of in the depths of space.
