In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Maleficent had guided Jack, her new apprentice, down into the underground sewers of Twilight Town. She knew that he needed some training, and the sewers would do perfectly for that. As she guided him down, she snapped her fingers. Several shadow heartless would appear alongside the walls, following them.
She finally stopped somewhere and turned to face Jack, the shadow heartless surrounding them. She spoke "The heartless are easy to control. They follow those that are strongest. In order to control them over the Organizations, you must be stronger then them. The heartless attack the weak. I know you are not weak, but you must show the heartless that you are strong enough to be their masters. You will start by attacking them first hand. Show this one that you are strong." She said, motioning to one of them. Now it was Jack's turn to show what he could do.
Jack followed Maleficent down into the sewers wondering what they were going to do. He knew that she was going to train him...but he wasn't sure how yet. Was she going to battle him herself? Was she going to send Heartless after Heartless at him? He wasn't sure, but he was ready to find out! He noticed several Shadow Heartless following them, and figured that either A) they were there to keep intruders out, or B) they were there for the training. Either way, things were getting interesting.
"...show it I'm strong enough to be it's master? Well it won't know that if it is dead...so... Jack quickly jumped forward, attempting to tackle the Shadow Heartless. Unfortunately for Jack, the Shadow sunk into the ground, dodging his attack, and giving him a scrape on his chin. "Shit that hurt. Come here you Shadow!" Jack said as he waited for the Shadow to stop moving on the ground, and barely start to form again, and he tackled it. Pinning it to the ground, and struggling to make it stop squirming.

Maleficent watched as Jack chased the shadow around, trying not to kill it, but getting hurt in the process. He then seemed to tackle the shadow and tried to prevent it from escaping. However, the shadow could not be held down by such means. He would slowly slip back into the ground before going underneath Jack, coming from behind, and popping back up, slicing at him.
Jack was going at it all wrong. He was trying to take down the heartless quite litterally. That was not showing it was strong. But how could Jack show his strength without attacking it? The answer was very simple. But Jack had yet to see it. She had told him to show the one shadow he was strong. So what was the point of all the other shadows being there? Maleficent hoped that Jack would realize it soon. If not, then maybe her faith in him had been misplaced.
Jack rolled to the side, dodging the Shadow's claws as it tried to claw at him while he was on the ground. Ugh, I'm not getting anywhere with this. If I continue tackling this little shit, then it'll just continue to get away from me. Maybe... Jack got up and looked at the other Heartless that had surrounded them. What would happen if I hurt them instead of the Shadow that I have to demonstrate my strength to? ...I think that's what I shall do!
With that realization, Jack grabbed his sword from the sheath he kept on his back, and jumped to the edge of the circle that the Shadows had formed, and swiped his sword at one Shadow, effectively killing it, and then swung his sword at the one next to it, hopefully hitting and killing it.

The lone shadow that was singled out had chased after Jack as he started swinging at his comrades. Meanwhile, the other shadows were taken by surprise as Jack started to attack them. One was killed instantly, the other tried to dodge, and succeeded, but the sword still connected with the one behind it. Maleficent watched, pleased that he had finally figured out what to do. After a few of them were destroyed, Maleficent would stop his attack.
She realized that he had needed some training in observation and assessment. It took him a little bit to realize how best to show strength if he couldn't kill the target. But he still figured it out. At least all hope was not lost. For now she watched, wondering what else he would do, and thinking of magic that she could give him. A sword was helpful, but if one could not reach their enemy with the sword, then what else could they use? She knew there was a lot of things that he needed to learn. But they would come in due time.
Jack was happy that he had finally been able to figure out what Maleficent wanted him to do...but it seemed like it was just a difficult way of doing things. But Maleficent was the one teaching him, so he'd go with it, and eventually, maybe everything would seem easier. Jack was having to dodge the Heartless that he was showing his power too, while also dodging the Heartless he had to kill. Really, it was getting slightly difficult to tell which Heartless was which, because they all looked the same!
Then, Jack remembered a physical trait on the special Shadow, just as he was about to swing his sword. That Shadow had an antenna that was shorter than the other for some reason. And, right before Jack swung his sword at a Shadow, he realized that it was the Shadow that he needed to not kill. Instead, he kicked it away with his foot, hoping to keep it out of the fray for a few seconds, hoping to kill a few more Shadows before it joined the fight again. Right after he kicked the Shadow, he swung his sword at a Shadow in front of him, and stabbed a Shadow that had jumped at his back, trying to catch him by surprise. Fortunately for Jack, he had noticed it, and was able to point his sword at it, and it landed on his sword, disappearing in a puff of darkness.

Maleficent watched him notice the one difference on the shadow she had singled out. That pleased her greatly, but also slightly disturbed her. It took him even longer to notice the difference and so she wasn't sure quite how to react. She watched as he continued to take out the heartless with his sword and realized that she had had enough. "That is enough." She said, holding up her hand.
She then held her hand out and said "Your sword, please." Why did she want his sword? To see what else he would do against the heartless. Sure he had shown that he had other skills with his shapeshifting, but what else did he have? Once the sword was handed over, she would ask him "Do you have any skills with magic? For I would suggest it should your sword ever be lost from your hand. If you do not, then I will aid you, granting you the gift of fire. While not as powerful as my own, it will still aid you in the fight against our enemies." She said.
When he would tell her that he did not, she would summon a small green and black flame above her hand. A snap would happen, the green disappearing, leaving only the black. Why was she giving him black fire? Just for the simple reason of allowing him to stand out amongst the rest of the fire users. It had the same aspects of normal fire, but colored black instead of the usual red and orange. A flick of her finger sent the small black flame directly to Jack's heart. A burning sensation would be felt throughout his body for a short moment but would soon disappear. With the power of fire bestowed upon him, she would say "Now then... Continue, training only in the art of fire and honing your skills, learning of all of its properties and devestating effects." She would let the heartless stand there, not moving or attacking for a moment, allow him to test the power of fire out with stationary targets while she still held onto his sword.
Jack heard Maleficent tell him that he should stop. Then he heard her ask for his sword. Reluctantly, he gave over his sword, not quite sure what she would have him do next. "Magic? I have none. I have watched several people who do though..." As he said this to Maleficent, she summoned some green and black fire, a simple snap turning it only black. Jack wasn't sure where this was going, but he was pretty sure he was going to gain some sort of power.
But...what sort of power involves...black fire? as this thought shot across his mind, the black flame was sent toward him, and into his heart, making him jump slightly in surprise, and slightly from the burning sensation felt by Jack as the flame entered his heart, but quickly disappeared. Jack listened to Maleficent tell him to continue training, but only with his power over Fire. So...I...have the power...over fire now? But, how do I go about using it?
He turned toward the Shadows with this thought, and still not knowing what to do, pointed his hand toward one of the unmoving Shadows, and willed some fire to come out of his hand. This seemed at first to be the correct thing to do at first, as a small flame came out of his hand. Unfortunately, it landed less than a foot away, almost landing on Jack's foot, causing a small, quick freak out from Jack.

Maleficent watched as Jack attempted to use the fire spell and almost lit his foot on fire in the process. A small soft sigh escaped the witch as she stepped forward and held her hand out in the same way that Jack just did. It seemed he needed more instruction. But with tiime, he would be masterful in utilizing both magic and physical attack. "Feel the fire within you. Let it grow, for fire is alive. It is a hard element to control, making it a wonderful starter. For if you master fire, mastering the other elements is that much more simpler. Allow the fire to live within your heart, feeding off of you being. And when it has grown enough, cast it from your heart, releasing it upon the enemy." She said, hoping it made sense to him.
As she finished this explaination, she allowed herself to go through the steps, taking deep breaths before she focused on her hand. She usually summoned fire with a snap. But she would show Jack how to do it the way he was trying to do so. As the fire filled within her, she released it toward one of the shadows. The green fireball escaped her open palm as it shot across the area, instantly connecting with the shadow and destroying it. She then lowered her hand, stepped back and nodded at Jack, signalling him to attempt it.
