In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Her eyes widened just a hair as Setsuna showed them the photograph he had taken of the Dusk. Resisting the urge to just reach forward and snatch the notebook away from him to get a better look, she leaned in an excessive amount over the table instead.
"Arthas is right, Setsuna... that's a Dusk, a specie of Nobody," she sat back in her chair and picked up her cup of hot cocoa, swirling it around a bit, "I never did tell you I was researching them, but the purpose of me going on this adventure with these two is to hopefully bump into some more advanced Nobodies and observe their behavior for my... I guess you could call it a 'thesis.'" She gave a soft laugh, eyes wandering over to Ricardus sitting beside her. He took well to the newcomer of the group so far -- that was a good sign.
"Let's all go to the library. That way, whenever Setsuna is done showing Ricardus whatever it is he wants to show him, we can just go from there." She took a last, long drink from her cup and set it down gently, closing her sketchbook and setting it in her pack, "I wouldn't mind picking up a good book for when inspiration runs dry, as well..."
Looking over at Setsuna, she gave an adventurous smile, "Looks like we'll now be more than just café acquaintances, huh? Lead the way."

Setsuna looked back at the picture. "A Dusk, huh? Since when do you know so much about them? You could have told me about this. And you look so excited about it. Skell, they tried to destroy the library and they attacked me. They always appear to wreak havoc." He tried not to sound accusatory, but he couldn't help it.
Waving it away, he went on. "Well, it doesn't matter. We can go to the library whenever you guys are ready." He gulped down of coffee that the waitress had served him.
Paying the waitress, he stood up. "So now I know they're called Nobodies. Why are they called that? They exist. So shouldn't they be called something else?"
Setsuna walked towards the door, waiting for everyone else.
((Sorry about the short post. Couldn't think of anything else...))

R I C A R D U S D A R ' N A L A "I DREAMED I WAS MISSING, YOU WERE SO SCARED"
((I took my sweet time, I know. Since xraivex recently left the site, I'll be lightly powerplaying his character to get the thread moving))
Ricardus remained silent for a while, listening to the ongoing conversation as he took a sip from his cup of cocoa once again. The three of them had apparently been a tad too careless with their chat; now they were attracting all sorts of attention and this Setsuna guy seemed to be the first of the many that would come. Was life in Twilight Town really that boring? Were the townspeople so desperate for action that they'd jump at the first opportunity of adventure? The boy felt a bit hypocritical as he thought about this but, alas, he didn't have much of a choice. After all, everything that he had seen or heard in the past thirty minutes had simply been too fictitious and perhaps a bit crazy as well. Thing probably wouldn't turn out to be even more twisted and strange.
The newcomer suddenly seemed to remember that Skell and Dar'Nala were right next to him, proveeding to question their fighting abilities. Ricardus couldn't help but to take a bit of offense as he was deemed "defenseless"; sure, it was practically the truth, but the boy wasn't quite ready to accept that fact just yet. However, his concept of Setsuna began to soften as the older man offered to teach him the basics of magic.
Magic.
For some reason, the word made him feel quite funny... it was almost as if they were speaking of an old friend of his. Ricardus suddenly remembered the flashback that had suddenly hit him moments ago right after laying his eyes on Skell's notebook; that boy's face had brought a similar rush of emotions to his mind: nostalgia. He sighed, looking up at the man before nodding in approval. This seemed like the only lead he had to finding more about himself and Dar'Nala wasn't planning to waste the opportunity at all. "Thanks Mister Setsuna... I really appreciate it."
After that, the youngest of the group had no problems with Setsuna tagging along from now on. The conversation quickly drifted away from Ricardus, and the other three suddenly began to discuss the recent Nobody attack on the library. Ricardus didn't even try to understand and participate in the chat; the concept was just too new to him and the more he thought about it the more it confused him. The group soon decided to leave the cafe's cozy atmosphere (much to the boy's delight) and travel to the local library.
He remained silent during their walk, reflecting on all of these recent events surrounding him. The teenager was about to join these three strangers in an adventure; they were about to go and explore many other worlds... that is, if they existed at all. Even among magical paintbrushes and space portals, Ricardus found it quite hard to believe that they were many other worlds with intelligent life out there. Still he felt safe around Arthas and Skell for some reason and, to be frank, he actually liked that feeling.
The four of them eventually arrived at their destination and Setsuna quickly took Ricardus to a "secret" part of the building, were all of the inappropiate and perhaps banned books were kept. After all, magic wasn't a highly accepted ability by most of the town's citizens and it wasn't by all means common knowledge. Of course, several people with extraordinary abilities had come out of nowhere to fight the local heartless or nobodies, such as a peculiar group that had fought a rather big band of nobodies at the Market Street about a year ago. The boy was given a few tomes to read and, as soon as Setsuna left the room, he eagerly opened one and started to read.
The first chapter talked about fire magic and, quite frankly, he didn't understand a single thing about it. Knitting his brows, he went back to the book's index and began to look for something that he was actually interested in. As soon as his eyes found those two words, the rush of nostalgia began to flow through his veins once again.
Healing Magics.
Ricardus knew about this. He frankly didn't know how or why but he just knew that he did. His fingers violently traveled through the pages, desperately looking for the right one. The boy lightly bit his lip and, after glancing around to make sure no one was nearby to listen, he read out loud. "Healing Magic is a highly studied branch of the White Magics focused on restoring energy, treating all kinds of wounds and nulling curses. The most famous and basic healing spell is simply known as Cure, being able to seal minor wounds and scratches..."
Indeed, he already knew how to cast this Cure spell as well as its upgrade, Cura. The boy continued to read the chapter, soon realizing that he was also familiar with a certain Esuna spell. His interest on the subject rapidly increased, but he was unable to remember anything else by the time he had finished the Healing Magics section. Ricardus frowned, going back to the index to search for more clues. In the end, he read a bit of the Thunder Magics section before casually glancing up to look at the nearby clock. Damn, had he been reading nonstop for three hours straight? Ricardus sighed, quickly realizing that he had left Arthas and Skell alone in his little act of pure selfishness.
The boy quickly rose from his seat, picking up the book in silence as he tiptoed out of the room. These books were hardly read so no one would actually miss it, right? But... what if it belonged to someone else? What if this person really needed to read the book and suddenly found out that it had disappeared? The teenager gulped as he attempted to shake these thoughts off; Skell would probably want to come back home in the future and he'd be given the chance to quickly step into the library and return the book without anyone noticing.
Leaving the "secret" library room, Ricardus wandered around, looking for either Arthas or Skell. They probably hadn't left the library yet, or at least he hoped they hadn't.
R I C A R D U S D A R ' N A L A "BUT NO ONE WOULD LISTEN 'CAUSE NO ONE ELSE CARED"
Arthas sat in a very comfy chair, flipping through the pages of a book entitled "Advanced Magics and Spells". He looked at the illustrations of the spells, but fell short at the instructions to cast the spells. With a sigh, he went back to the shelf and put it back, when another title caught his eye. It was an old tome, and when he took it out, his eyes widened in shock.
It was titled "The Legends of Tranvia".
He knew that people from his world had come to this one more than once, but he never thought he'd see this book again. Opening it, he turned to the first chapter, the one about his favorite legend. Pictures of warriors holding a white katana decorated with feathers...a single woman in colorful robes holding a violin...a mage with a metal-like gauntlet on his left hand...al were the Divine Symbols of Tranvia, lost when the Keyhole was last closed.
With another sigh, Arthas took the book and slipped it in his bag, hoping to read it once again soon. A plan formed in his head, but he didn't see how he could do it...
Once they got to the library, Skell watched the males diverge their own, separate ways before choosing a path to go down herself. It's been a while since she's been in a library -- not that she wasn't so apt on reading, but that she preferred her studies to be more hands-on. And the books she read she usually owned. There was an odd feeling associated with knowing that the bounding and its innards belong to you. Not like she was highly possessive... yeah, she wasn't sure what it was...
But she did frequent the library once every blue moon. She definitely did more around a year or more ago when she was just learning everything that none of the residents of Twilight Town ever wanted to talk about. Books were her company then. And occasionally her father, too. But even then...
She wandered into one isle that just called her name, spoke out to her, harkened her to it. And with a soft smile, she obliged, cascading down it and running her fingers along the spines of books. Her fingernail snagged on one, and with it fell into her hand. With one gaze, she thumbed it and took it to an armchair resting at the head of the isle.
"Nothing wrong with reading the Scottish Play... 'there's something rotten in the state of Denmark.'"
R I C A R D U S D A R ' N A L A "AFTER MY DREAMING, I WOKE WITH THIS FEAR"
"A-Arthas," The young boy slowly approached the swordsman, his voice suddenly turning timid as he addressed the man. Fortunately he had not interrupted him while he was reading; Ricardus seriously didn't want to become more of an annoyance for both Arthas and Skell. Resting his hand on the nearby bookshelf, Dar'Nala noticed the book that had just been thrown into the bag. So he wasn't the only one "borrowing" books from the library? Good. A soft sigh escaped his lips, showing a sudden relief that had apparently come out of nowhere. "I'm sorry, I know I made you wait a long time. I was just reading and time flew by... I won't do it again though, don't worry!"
Ricardus looked away, letting a small, nervous laugh escape him. Being around Arthas was quite nice, but slightly uncomfortable in some way. The boy didn't know what was the "problem" or even the reason behind that feeling; he only knew that it was just there. Still the warrior had shown the younger male kindness and that was quite enough for the time being... at least for him it was.
"I'll go and see how Skell's doing. When you're done checking the books here come and join us there... oh, wait, that sounded quite rude, didn't it? Take your time, n-no rush!" His cheeks burning crimson from the embarrassment, Ricardus quickly dashed away as he continously muttered apologies for his behavior. He had taken his own sweet time, after all, and Arthas deserved to do that very same thing as well.
Dar'Nala continued to wander around the library for a while until he caught a glimpse of bright red. He turned his head, noticing the woman in the bright coat that peacefully sat, flipping a rather thick book's pages. Oh dear, he didn't want to interrupt her reading either! The boy took a couple of big breaths, his eyes wide as he prepared himself. "Um... Skell? I-I'm sorry! I didn't want to interrupt you! It's just that... well... uh..."
Silence.
R I C A R D U S D A R ' N A L A "WHAT AM I LEAVING WHEN I'M DONE HERE?"
Arthas chuckled as Ricardus ran away so rushed, then continued to browse the shelves, looking for any more works that had to do involving his world or that caught his eye. Several involving heartless were briefly taken out, only to be replaced again. Another on Nobodies was returned, but one in particular caught his eye. It was titled "Unversed."
Interesting...that looks similar to a Heartless. Yet...
As he sat in a book, he read. And as he read, his interest grew.
Skell wasn't very far into the read when Ricardus had found her. Why, she had hardly made it through the second Act (they weren't there for that long)! And once she had heard his sweet voice pipe up, her gaze lifted from the pages and took a second to refocus on him, much further down the aisle than one would usually be. She bowed her head slightly, a small smirk forming on her face as she closed the book with a thump.
"Ready to go now, are we? No worries!" For a moment longer, she leaned back in the chair. Fingers tapped along its armrests, "Although, I have to say... I was growing quite comfortable."
She flashed a look to assure him that she was just joking, and pushed herself out of the chair with an short and soft sigh. For a moment she debated checking the book, but they wouldn't have much time for her to enjoy in something as luxurious and liberating as reading a book. She would probably be too preoccupied with her studies, hoping all goes well...
A spark of excitement lit her eyes at the thought of finally getting out of this world. Adventuring off to a place where she might have more luck to come across some of those Nobodies. Perhaps one with a black coat. That would just make her lifetime.
Ah, that's where it went. Putting the book back in its proper place on the shelf, Skell turned and looked over at Ricardus.
"Let's go find Arthas, shall we?" With a soft smile and a gentle hand at the back of his shoulder, Skell ushered him out the aisle in search of their third companion. After all, he was the key to getting out of this world, "Any idea where he is? Or should we just wait for him by the door?"
