In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Saxen was so excited he could hardly keep himself under control. Scratch that. He couldn't. He was yelling excited yells from the main cockpit of his new gummi ship. He was running all kinds of tests on speed and maneuverability and pulling loops as fast as he could. After a while, he calmed down and started looking at his computer for a place to go. He was thinking about visiting home, but his fingers started to punch in coordinates. He wasn't sure where he was going, but he didn't change his course. He just sat back and relaxed. Now that he was away from Radiant Garden, there weren't near as many heartless. He could feel himself getting more relaxed as the ship took him to its destination. After a short nap, he arrived at the ship's programmed destination. He looked out over the world he had arrived at. It was a small set of islands that looked so peaceful. Even Deathblade felt better here.
Saxen jumped out of the ship onto the smaller island. It was almost sunrise. He walked out toward the shore and smiled, his hair blowing gently in the light breeze. He smiled. His heart was filled with peace. There were no heartless here. He had even left his weapons in the small armory he had built into his ship. He sat down and waited for the sunrise. It was rare that he was awake for them. He ran his fingers through the sand. He then took off his boots, socks and vest, leaving him in his white V-neck and cut-offs. As much as he wished he could share this moment, he was just happy he could have it.
Crystal smiled as she rose out of the water, taking on her transformation, bubbles vanishing around her tail and replacing it with two long legs. She came out, holding a small net of fish she had just caught and quite close by she had made a fire place to cook them, luckily it was still lit.
She took a seat on the blanket she had placed on the ground, a few rocks had kept it down from blowing away. The aquamarine haired girl then grabbed a spit and placed it through the fish, then put it on the fire, supported by two Y shaped stick on either side of it. She watched them cook, turning them over every now and then.
To pass the time, she took out her ocarina and began playing a soft yet calming melody, quite happy at that as the tide came and went, all the while whilst keeping an eye on her dinner as the sun began to set slowly.
Saxen's attention was grabbed by a soft melody. He stood up, packed his stuff into his vest, and walked slowly toward the song. As he walked along the beach, he smelled fish. Cooking fish was a very familiar smell to him. He kept moving to the place of the fish. When he got within visual range, he was amazed to see a beautiful girl preparing the fish on a spit over the fire. He noticed her small net of fish, but she had no boat. He kept walking forward, the serenity of this world pushing him on.
"Hello," he gently called out, his past battles leaving his expression and voice for the moment. "May I have some of your fish, or at least use your fire?" He was hoping she'd let him have some of her fish, but he could probably catch some himself. In fact, he could start a fire himself, but he'd rather spend as little time and effort as possible. Plus, it would be nice to get to know someone on this world. You never know who's life you could change.
Crystal's playing was interrupted, she looked removed her lips from the musical object and gazed up at the own of the voice, a young boy with shaggy blonde hair it seemed. A complete stranger that had asked to have some of the fish that she had caught, to use the fire she made... that was rather rude to request such a thing.
Still, the undine sighed, too nice for her own good. It would be get dark later on, not quite yet as the sky was emitting orange, pink, and purple hues. Either way, it didn't seem fair to hunt right this moment. What choice did she have? "Very well..." she spoke melodically, turning the fish again "despite not hearing to polite word 'please', you may sit here and eat with me."
Crystal shook her head, she was sure she hadn't heard the word 'please' in his sentence, and that was rather rude. She hummed as she put her musical instrument down and began to twist her hair to rid the water from it. Her mystic topaz gaze focussed on the young man. "What bring you here?" she asked, deciding to make conversation.
Saxen winced when she mentioned that he hadn't said please. To (partially) make up for this lack of manners, he made sure to say "Thank you" with a smile and a respectful bow before going over and sitting with her.
"What brings you here?" she asked him.
"Well," he began, looking up as he thought. "My home...is at war. I left to try to save it. My travels just brought me here, to these islands. I thought I'd walk around and enjoy the islands for a day or two." He looked back at her. "By the way, is there anything I can give you in exchange for your hospitality?"
Crystal frowned as she continued to turn the fish, they were coming along great, she had skinned them already, so it saved her choking on the scales, the heads had been removed along with any bones and the tails, she inhaled the scent, they did smell quite good.
She then looked over at the stranger as he spoke, so he had left his world? Unlike her, but still... what was with everyone and ending up at different places? It didn't make sense. "I see... well, I'm not sure why I'm here, or how I got here.... guess I just woke up here one day," she sighed, to be honest, she did miss her world dearly, her family and friends, it was sad.
"I'm sure things will get better for you soon," she smiled lightly, twirling the fish again, it wouldn't be long now. She looked over at some plain rice in a plastic bag with tiny holes poked into it, that could go with the fish. "Excuse me," she said politely, getting up whilst carrying a silver pot and walking over to a water fall and gathering some water in it, it seemed pure enough to use for boiling.
She returned to her sitting spot and put the bag into the water, then hovered it over the fire. She had some bananas and coconuts, too. Her attention then turned to the boy, what could he do to repay her? Not much really, there was nothing of value he could give her, she wasn't interested in money. Nope! Nothing.
Crystal just shook her head. "I don't expect any form of payment," she explained simply, water the water boil, being sure to keep away from it should it spit. She looked back at the boy, finding herself staring. "What's your name?" she asked politely.
When she told him things would get better, he looked down and muttered "Only when we win this war and the heartless are destroyed..."
He didn't notice that he was clenching his fists until the girl said "excuse me." He then made sure to get out of her way. Then he looked back up at her as she shook her head and told him he didn't have to repay her. Part of him didn't like that, but he accepted it anyway. She was being kind. Then, she asked his name.
"I'm Saxen," he said. "What about you?" He quickly started thinking about how long and where to stay on the islands, allowing his thoughts to race for only a second or two before stopping and waiting for her response.
"Crystal," she answered him simply, finally taking the fish off their skewers, she took out something smooth, flat and wooden, quite like a plate and placed it in front of them, she placed the four fish on them before taking the pot off the fire, noticing all the water had been absorbed, she tore open the bag quickly, it was still quite hot and poured the rice onto the wooden plate, it was fluffy and steaming.
"Mm, this looks delicious," she smiled, taking a cooked fish on a stick, blew on it to cool it before taking a bite, she chewed on it thoughtfully before gulping it down "yup! Taste great!" she then looked over at Saxen, wondering if he'd eat yet "it taste fine, so eat up, you can have some of the coconuts I gather to drink its remains."
Well, this encounter seemed to be going well, but there seemed to be less talking, that bothered Crystal, she didn't like quiet people, though if she heard something beautiful, she hated loudness.
"Pretty name," he said with a smile. He closed his eyes for a moment and inhaled. The food smelled great. As soon as she told him to eat, he started into it. It tasted delicious. Even having had almost nothing but fish for almost a year back home hadn't made him like it any less. He ate rather fast, but tried not to make too much of a mess. He also made sure not to take any more than half. He didn't want to take so much that she wouldn't have enough.
Wanting to know more about his current company, Saxen decided to ask a question or two. "So, what do you do? Do you live here?" he asked looking back up at her after making sure he wouldn't be talking with his mouth full.
Crystal blinked at Saxen's compliment, but soon shrugged it off, that's all it was, nothing more. She just looked back down at her food, silently eating her rice with a closed mouth as she watched the sun in the the horizon, everything seemed so perfect today.
The gentle breeze blew her hair slightly as her soft gaze watched the ocean sparkle in the slowly setting sun's light. This world was all too different from hers, not that it was a bad thing, at least here she was able to walk on land.
She looked up at Saxen as her thoughts were interupted, she blinked for a moment, registering what he just said. What did she do? Well... not much, really... she had been here for a while now, but she didn't really have a special job or anything. "To be honest, I guess you could say I'm just a resident here... well... a recent one at that..." she said, smiling softly in his direction.
"I'm not from here... though not many people know that... actually, no one does... I'm not really comfortable approaching them..." she then thought for a minute, wondering why she could speak to him like this and not them "I really don't know why I'm comfortable with speaking to you about it... but, oh well... it was bound to come out sooner or later."
She chuckled softly to herself, biting into the fish once more, it was then something hit her. "Wait a minute... didn't I already tell you I'm not from here? I just woke up here one day... though now I reside here..." after saying this, she couldn't help but laugh "my, you must be forgetful," she had a playful expression whilst saying this though, hopefully he wouldn't be offended.
Looking at him for a short while, Crystal had to admit he was rather handsome, as silly as it may have sounded to think a total stranger was, but still, it was nice to be honest here and there.
Saxen was very happy when she decided to answer his questions. Many people like to avoid questions as much as possible, even though that only tends to cause suspicion. He made sure to pay full attention to her. He flipped his hair out of his eyes so he could look at her as she spoke to him.
She told him that she didn't really do anything, other than live there. When he thought about it, he didn't really do much more than that back in Radiant Garden. She then went on to answer his second question: where she was from. She didn't quite answer his question, but she did tell him that she wasn't from the islands, and that was something. Then, she kind of kept on, slightly rambling, but it was kind of funny. He smiled at her as she talked.
Then, she paused for a second. "Wait a minute... didn't I already tell you I'm not from here? I just woke up here one day... though now I reside here..." She gave a friendly laugh and continued, "my, you must be forgetful."
Saxen laughed at this, too. "I guess I am. . . and people say I'm the smart one. . ." He laughed again, hoping Crystal would find this humorous as well. Then, he thought of a question that had been inkling in the back of his mind since he got here and decided to ask it. "Are there heartless here? I kind of have this feeling. . . like no darkness can reach this place. . ."
Crystal simply smiled at Saxen before finishing her food, with a content sigh she layed back with one of her legs in an upside-down V shape, causing her skirt to slide down from it and expose the particular leg, though nothing alluring was seen. She tilt her head to the side so that she was now looking at him, her mystic topaz eyes seemed to shimmer slightly as she smiled.
She was sure to listen carefully to him, though upon hearing him mention something about a Heartless, it caught her interest. "Yo mean... those dark... shadowy things? Those are Heartless?" she asked before staring up at the sky, thinking to herself whilst also speaking to him "there have been a few incidents... though nothing major..."
It struck an interest with her on why he would even want to know, so she turned to him again. "Why do you ask anyway?" she said softly, moving one arm behind her head whilst the other remained by her side.
Saxen had deeply been hoping that there were no heartless here. He wanted there to be one place that wasn't a part of this war that everyone seemed to be caught up in, in some way. Unfortunately, his hopes didn't matter to the universe, or to the heartless. Of course, they were called "Heartless," so one could hardly expect any less. "Yes," he answered her first question, "Those are Heartless. . ."
"Why do you ask, anyway?"
Saxen finished the last bit of his food before he answered her. "I ask because I spend most of my time fighting those damned things, but they keep coming back. They're pretty bad back home. They're going to destroy my home. . ." As he talked, his fists clenched and his mind moved away from the conversation and back to his war at home. He quickly realized this, however, and, shaking his head, returned to the here and now. "So, what was your world like?"
Crystal tilt her head to the side as she looked over at Saxen, she couldn't help but feel a little... no, she felt quite a great deal of sorry for him... she was pretty much in the same position as him, who knew what could've been happening to her world right now, were those things... those Heartless... still attacking it? Was everybody alright...? Her father... her brother... she had to know if they were alright, but more than anything, she wanted to see them again.
When she sat up, she sighed and looked down to where his fist was shaking, she could sense his pain all too well. Why was water such a sensitive element...? "It'll be alright..." she tried to reassure him, placing one of her hands over his to stop it from shaking at least "I know how you feel... I worry about my home all the time, too... even my father and brother... I honestly hope they're alright..."
No, now wasn't the time to be sad, she knew neither of them needed it, so sat knelt opposite him, placing her hands on his shoulders and smiling brightly. "Don't worry! Okay? No sad faces, no frowns, just smiles... like this," she giggled slightly, tilting her head to the side whilst smiling warmly with her eyes closed.
"It doesn't take much effort to smile," she said softly, opening her eyes to look at him before letting go of him and sitting back, though still faced him.
When he asked about her world, she couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Wait... what was she supposed to say? 'My world is in the ocean'? She really wasn't ready to let more than one person know what she was and where she came from... but, she tried her hardest not to avoid the subject, she'd just have to tell it differently.
Tapping her water circlet on her forehead whilst thinking, she then came up with a pretty decent explanation. "Well, it's beautiful... you can move freely without being judged by others, we don't all look the same there, but we have our similarities and such, the food we eat is not so different to the food on this island, to be honest," she chuckled, thinking it was going well so far "it's a peaceful place, though there are quite a few dangers... nothing we can't handle..."
That pretty much summed it up the best she could. Smiling, she turned her head to the ocean, watching as the sun was slowly beginning to set, she seemed to be enjoying herself now that she had loosened up a little.
Without a care, she closed her eyes, listening to the waves of the ocean, it was so peaceful. Seagulls cried as they flew overhead, she had to admit though, this world was much different than hers, but... it was the closet thing to home.
Saxen didn't really hear much of what she said until she started telling him that he had to smile. Then, he looked up and when he saw her . . . he couldn't help but laugh a little. Then, a smile cracked on his face. "It doesn't take much effort to smile," he heard her say.
"No, I suppose it doesn't," he responded with a smile that proved Crystal right.
When he asked about her world, she took a moment to think. She described a place that sounded like a great place to be. Nobody judging you, freedom . . . and peace.
"That sounds like a nice place . . ." Saxen said as he drifted off again, thinking of all the good and bad times he had had back home. Unfortunately, his stay in Anhnyqueg had been filled with war and death and killing. But he had also met some good friends there. He sat there silently for a while, his eyes glazed over, before saying anything else. He suddenly looked up and asked, "So, what do you do around here?"
((Sorry it's kinda short, but I'm a little out of practice at the moment))
