In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Age: Unknown, approximately thirty... though Sephiroth is one whom age will no longer touch.
Gender: Male
Species: Genetic experiment - vaguely human
Position: Ex-SOLDIER General, First Class
Powers: Too many. A few in his arsenal are this -
When Sephiroth left Nibelheim, he had with him several materia - Revive, Cure, All, Quake, Fire. Due to the nature of his... gifts, he soon found himself no longer even in the need of them, but has yet to rid himself of them.
In addition to this, Sephiroth freely wields the darkness within the world, and even within the mind itself. One of his most (and the one he is most known for) devastating attacks is known as 'Descend Heartless Angel' - an attack where Sephiroth gathers all the darkness he can about him, then casts it forward at someone, or someones, leeching them of all strength and energy. Often, this attack is instantly fatal.
His other freely used element is fire, and one he is not hesitant to use.
Other random things include forming small asteroids to pummel the enemy with, spheres of darkness (and death), potentially shifting appearance, and bending heartless and nobodies alike to his iron will, for periods of time.
Then, of course, there are Limit Breaks. Bizzaro and Safer are known forms from FFVII; but what, I wonder, are the others?
Weapon: Masamune - a six-foot long curved blade designed for a bloodless kill.
Picture(optional):
Appearance: “The ability to change one’s looks, voice and words is the power of Jenova.” -- Sephiroth
Standing over six feet, Sephiroth is a lean, well-muscled swordsman. His long silver hair mostly flows behind him, save two locks that spike upwards before sweeping down to frame his angular face. His eyes are bright green and catlike - the mark of Mako energy infusion.
In dress, Sephiroth’s attire has changed as his mastery over the darkness has grown, though it still resembles the boots, cloak and pauldrons he wore in his SOLDIER days. His cloak, once long and flowing, has become tattered, and laced with red. Beneath it, two belts cross his chest. Admittedly, he lacks the bat wings on his gauntlets and leather pants, but Square likes to exaggerate.
Lastly, a great blue-black wing trails behind him, sprouting from his right shoulder.
Personality: Cold, calculating, and just a little insane, Sephiroth is hell-bent on his own objectives - to become a god, heir to Jenova’s legacy.
If there is any warmth in his heart, any kindness, it is well hidden. Sephiroth is known to spare people, but never out of mercy - either to play with them later, or perhaps because he deems that that individual will become useful. He adores mind games, and easily twists the truth to use as a weapon - sometimes a more potent one than his six-foot sword.
His will alone keeps him alive, and ensures that the darkness can never swallow him - but that instead, the darkness is bent to his desire, following his command.
As a leader, Sephiroth has no peer. His underlings suffer few casualties - while he is not one to suffer fools, he sees use when it is there.
As a godling, Sephiroth thinks far too highly of himself. Vain, arrogant, and darkly intelligent, he is closer to the Greek gods than Hercules himself is. After all, the gods upon Olympus are wrathful beings...
That is, until you actually get to talking to him.
Sephiroth is one who paces, caught in an eternal internal monologue, and one caught between his own and Jenova's personality and mind. Not many really know much about him, despite everything.
Oddly enough, those that do stand by him.
History/Background: Sephiroth was one of several infused with the cells of Jenova, a life form with only one instinct - to devour energy and destroy. While still in the womb, he was injected with the cells, as well as Mako energy, as the beginning of something known as the Jenova Project. As a child, he was raised by Shinra, being told that ‘Jenova’ was his mother, but was given no more information.
He showed great promise from an early age - inhuman speed, agility, strength, and will. He soon rose through the ranks of SOLDIER, an elite fighting force, and soon became the top general of SOLDIER, First Class. At age twenty, he was the force that led his troops to victory in the Midgar-Wutai war. It was said that Sephiroth, as a swordsman, had no equal.
Ten or so years ago to the day, Sephiroth set off to inspect a Mako reactor in Nibelheim. Cloud Strife, a guard with Jenova’s cells, was also there, as was Zack, the man whom Cloud later ‘became’. Only Sephiroth and Zack were granted access into the generator itself; Cloud and Tifa remained outside.
At the reactor, Sephiroth discovered a series of pods, many of which were labeled ‘Experiment ###’, but one was different. Having been told all his life of his mother’s identity, a mysterious woman named Jenova, he became incensed to discover her as a dark, twisted shape of a blue-skinned woman encased in a capsule.
For weeks, Sephiroth locked himself in the basement of the Shinra mansion, going through all the reports he could find. He learned of the Jenova Project, of his creation, of Cloud’s, and of the ‘Sephiroth clones’, those also infused with the cells of Jenova. Driven into a self-created madness, he destroyed Nibelheim and headed towards the reactor to claim Jenova, his so-called ‘mother’.
Zack, Cloud and Tifa intercepted him, but Sephiroth was not dissuaded easily. In two blows, he had grievously injured Tifa and killed Zack, and headed inside to open Jenova’s capsule.
The minute the seal was broken, Jenova’s own will and instinct took forward. The planet’s scream resonated as a dark tear opened in the sky, through which poured countless Shadows. As Cloud ran forward, carrying Zack’s buster sword to stop Sephiroth, Shadows surrounded them. Jenova dissipated, shooting into the very lifestream of the planet, but not before crossing through Zack and Cloud. Only Sephiroth retained some hold on her, absorbing a good deal into himself before the ancient alien could fully merge into the planet.
Caught by the sudden use of Jenova against him, and the raw energy searing through him, Cloud blacked out. Sephiroth stood aloof, watching as the planet’s heart was eaten away, and leapt into the ensuing darkness, using Jenova’s power.
In the place between worlds, where most would drift, Sephiroth soared. He reached through the worlds, seeking those who resonated with him, those that had also been created from Jenova. Only Cloud remained.
Sephiroth remained near Cloud, convinced that Jenova was the one true queen, and that he and Cloud were the only remaining heirs. Only they could rule supreme, and that was a power Sephiroth was not interested in sharing.
Cloud, for his part, was crossed with Zack, inheriting, largely, his identity. This fact Sephiroth knew - as the stronger of the two, he maintained a steady power over Cloud, furthering the illusion, and convincing him of his ‘truth’.
As those of the world that was no more gathered together - Yuffie Kisaragi, Squall Leonheart, Aeris Gainsborough, Cloud Strife, Cid Highwind, and Tifa Lockheart - Sephiroth remained apart, watching from a distance as he dropped hints to Cloud. Both were, he knew, from the same person - and he began to refer to Cloud as his other, claiming to be Cloud’s darkness. Time and time again, Cloud sought him out, at first for revenge on ‘his’ hometown, and then later in an attempt to stop the voice in his mind, and put his sanity at ease.
Though Cloud has defeated him before, Sephiroth has become too steeped in the darkness rampant, and too strong of will, to disperse, and believes himself by now invincible.
As the only other heir to Jenova, he believes Cloud to be the only one capable of defeating him, and therefore rarely bothers with fighting anyone. After all, if only one is your proclaimed equal, what’s the point in fighting anyone else?
However, as his strength and mastery over the arcane arts and over his own questionable gifts increases, Sephiroth has turned his gaze outside, to watch as matters unfold...
Role Playing Sample:
“Is that a threat?” Sephiroth asked softly, watching the figure before him with unnervingly blank features.
The youth backed up a step, tightening his grip on his sword. “Don’t come near me! I’m warning you!”
“Ah. So it is a threat,” Sephiroth purred. He took a gliding step forward, holding Masamune at an angle away from his body in his left hand. He flexed it easily, watching as the young man flinched. “What a pity...”
“N-no - I mean... I didn’t-“ As Sephiroth advanced, the other retreated, desperately trying to back out of what was looking to be a very, very bad situation. “I just- what - what are you doing?”
Sephiroth did not leap forward. He did not rush, but merely continued to walk calmly forward, holding his victim captive with his stare. When he reached the boy, he allowed himself a slight smirk as he plunged Masamune deep into the teen’s chest.
“Killing you.” With that, Sephiroth easily withdrew his sword from its victim, quickly swiping it through the air to clean it.
He stepped over the body easily, paying it no further heed. He ignored, too, the other guard, who was watching in utter shock, disbelief that anyone would actually kill his partner written all over his face. For a long time, the man seemed to stare blankly at his fallen friend before giving chase after, raising the alarm.
He ran through the corridors, trying not to panic. “Where are you?” the guard demanded. “Come out, show yourself! Game’s over!”
Sephiroth narrowed his eyes, crouched on the ceiling beams, and finally leapt down with catlike grace, his boots making no sound as they touched the ground just behind the guard. “If you interfere, I will terminate you,” he informed the man calmly, who spun around with a little cry of surprise.
“You murdered him! And now you want me to step aside? Yeah, right,” the guard growled, raising a pistol. “Drop your weapon.”
“Tell me,” Sephiroth asked, still holding his sword, “are you a vegetarian?”
“What?” After Sephiroth did not repeat himself, but just continued to stare with eerie emerald eyes, the guard swallowed. “What has that to do with anything?”
“Everything,” Sephiroth replied. “By eating the flesh of other creatures, you must either agree that murder only applies to those of your own species, or that you are a hypocrite.”
“You- you’re not human...”
“Correct.”
“Then.. what are you?”
Sephiroth closed his eyes briefly, then quirked his mouth into a chilling smile. “The beginning of a new era.”
