In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Hero looked up at Era. He didn't really know what to say - didn't know anything about her in the first place, but he knew that she wasn't lying. Hero suddenly felt his conscience tingle, like a familiar sensation was brought back. Hero rarely showed insecure emotion, but out of nowhere, some shade of pink started forming on the very tips of his cheeks, and his eyes sparkled like the ocean water it reflected off of. The color grew a little; Hero looked in the other direction to shield his face.
Somheting troubles you, divine one.[/font]
Hero ignored him.
Suddenly, another presence invited himself into their conversation. Glad for another visitor to grab his attention, Hero assisted Era in greeting the rather urban-looking creature. It wasn't human, that was for sure, but it wasn't wild.
"Good morning." said Hero in a rather monotone pitch.
"Morning," Renzo said back to the boy having a hard time with the word. Why was it so hard for him to be sociable with others. Some of the other Ronsos back on Spira never had this problem. He shook his head not understanding himself. The sun was continuing to shine on him him drying the rest of his fur and making him feel warmer. He once again tapped his foot and he lowered his eyes. He took a good look at the kids and took note of there appearances. He was about to ask the kids something but what was there to ask next? All the questions he had seemed pointless or awkward to others perhaps he could ask the kids a normal question.
"What....... are you.... two doing?" Renzo said still struggling with his words. That is what a lot of people ask each other. Ronso's used to ask each other that back on Mount Gagazet. The thought of the ancient Mountains sent a jolt up Renzo's spine. He missed his old home but may never get to go back.
Renzo continued to wait. Why was he so anti-social? he didn't even know. He would need to remedy his anti-social problems sooner or later so why not work on it now.
Era watched the blue character continue to speak, her eyes taking interest in his tail. Cats often communicated with their tails. Was he going to do the same? It seemed he was telling more about himself through his feet... Much more like a human would do.
"What....... are you.... two doing?"
She turned back to face Hero, frost-blue eyes focusing on him a quick second. He seemed to have diverted his gaze away from her. What had made him turn away? She stepped to the side, trying to see his eyes, so she could see what had taken his focus.
But the other boy was waiting for an answer. And that's just what she would give him. Her attention settled onto the cat-boy once again. Was it really any question what they were doing? It seemed pretty obvious to her. "Making friends." It was the best answer she could come up with. Socializing had always been first-nature to Era. It came almost as easily as breathing.
Would Hero's response be the same? She was a little curious to find out.
"Getting acquainted, as she said." said Hero, slightly tilting his head and jerking his thumb in the general direction of Era.
He always came across foreigners in the different worlds he traveled to, but he had never seen one like this. Despite his tall, ( and if he wanted to make it so -) threatening stature, he seemed slightly fidgety. Hero already felt enough oddity in his consciousness without passing it on to others.
"What's your name, dear chap?" Hero said, his face jovial once more, making a successful attempt to clear his features of worry or angst with a genuine grin.

"My name is .... Renzo," he told the two kids. So this is the act of making a "Friend". Renzo hasn't had a Friend in a long long time. "Is it .... fun to make..... Friends?" He asked. Renzo hasn't talk this much also in a very long time because he truly had no one to talk to and never truly wanted to meet the residents of these islands.
Renzo once again looked down at the kids. They looked they were enjoying themselves doing the thing the girl called "Making Friends". Were friends truly necessary......... maybe it seemed to help others pass by at life.
But what people do as Friends these kids seem to talk and that's about it as becoming Friends. He stood there motionless to let the sun warm him up a bit and dry out the rest of the water ((I know right we should keep getting smaller until we only use 1 word)
Good! So Hero had agreed with her. Now, to find out the blue-furred kid's name...
Hero beat her to the punch. He'd gotten the question out before she could. And so, she listened carefully for the name that was soon to follow. And that name was unlike anything she'd ever heard before. It was almost tribal sounding: Renzo.
"Renzo," she repeated, getting a feel of the sound. "That's quite a unique name!" She intended to follow up by asking where he'd come from, but again, she was beaten to the punch.
"Is it .... fun to make..... Friends?"
Had this kid been living under a rock for his whole life? Of course it was fun to make friends. It was invigorating. This had ranked on the list as one of Era's favorite things to do... But maybe he didn't see things the same way she did.
Renzo sounded, however, like he still needed to find out for himself. Like he'd had no friends before. And maybe Era and Hero would be the first 'friends' the boy ever had. And so, she'd devised a creative response to his inquiry. "After you make friends with us, you can decide that for yourself!" Her demeanor was comforting. Warm, and welcoming. If ever someone had been looking for a good 'first' friend, it was her.
Era had jumped on the answer too quickly to think, and had automatically assumed that Hero was as open to the concept as she was.

Post.
Even though Hero was much more comfortable around society ( contrast to their opinion about him ), he could tell perfectly why Renzo seemed troubled by coming into contact with people - much less, what seemed to be two idle teenagers. Well, one teenager, and one nine-year-old who looked like a teenager.
If Hero saw him from a farther distance, he would have mistaken Renzo for an overgrown lapdog. Now, there was something more masculine about his features, and the fur and other animal-like characteristics seemed like nothing more than attatched accessories.
Era seemed to have much more experience which these kind of things, which was sort of a relief that Hero didn't have to do anything much. He was surprising at how easily she was able to adapt to people so easily. Hero was kind and gentle, but he wasn't equpped with the correct attitude for coming into stride with regular friends. What was it? "Chillax".
"Make Friends," Renzo said. He couldn't remember the last time he had a Friend sure he lived with other Ronsos on Mount Gagazet but they were never true Friends more like distant family. Renzo scratched his head. Friend, he thought to himself.
What was Renzo to say though now. No one had every even suggested they wanted to befriend Renzo much less a human. Back home humans were more used to Ronso but here people thought of him as a strange creature. Well there has to be a first for everything. This would be Renzo's first but how to proceed with it he did not know.
Renzo peered down at the teenagers again. Yup they were human teenagers alright friendly ones but still teenagers, Renzo thought.
Renzo looked back down at the two teenagers. "and... how do I... make freinds.... with you?" he asked. He didn't how to because he never had made a Friend before.

It seemed the Renzo was expected a orderly dictionary definition to a question whose answer was completely abstract. Now how would she go about explaining this concept to him? Well, she figured she'd have to address him on his level.
Understanding had a way with being a two-way street. Both parties had to strive a little, and so the girl would do her best to come up with an answer to his inquiry. One that would make sense, but pull him closer to a meaning only time, and his own heart, could describe.
"Well, there's not really a set method to making friends. A friendship is like a pact to always think of the other person more than you think of yourself, and in doing so, to always have each others' backs." She paused, wondering if what she'd been explaining even made sense. "...I guess it's something your Heart will tell you how to do." All of her life, Era had been following the guidance of that unseen, whimsical thing deep inside, and it had never proven her wrong before.
"Just do what your Heart says to do: if you want to smile, smile. If you want to laugh, laugh. And if you feel like screaming, just let it out," the wisdom in her words was a stark mismatch to her innocence, and yet, when the two virtues collided in Era, they gelled with a certain contrasting unison.
And for just a moment, her sunny attitude dampened, her mind temporarily whisking her away into brief, solitary reflection. "The great thing about friends is that they'll always be there for you." She'd been so caught up in the memories of the stalwart friends she'd made over the last few months - Rook, Shiro and Vapor - that the sentence was added as naught more than a poignant afterthought.

"Always there for you, hm?"
Well, Hero was okay with that. Renzo seemed willing anyways. Lately, Hero ran into a select number of people, but he met them under odd circumstances, and didn't have any more time to make just acquaintances. At least Era was willing to help Renzo, and Renzo was willing to try.
"Let's do it then, Renzo and Era." said Hero in a jovial tone. He set his headphones on his shoulders, letting his messy blue hair flow a bit more freely.
"Let's be friends."
The sun was now almost directly above. The wind was now slightly warmer, and salt air filled Hero's lungs. More and more sea-creatures were diving for shelter under the soft, grainy sand. His headphones picked up a random signal, probably coming from mainland. The odd, elastic, white little shapes started playing soft guitar music out of nowhere. Since Hero couldn't manually control it very well besides the on and off switch, it usually started playing on it's own. Hero hazarded a guess that it was nearing the afternoon. Hero shielded his eyes from the glare of the sun as he looked above.
"Say, are you both feeling any hungry?

"My heart," Renzo said to himself. He touched his chest were his heart was. He could feel it's thumping. "My heart makes friends," could his heart truly lead him like the girl said. "Much wisdom.... comes from you," he told the teenage girl and indeed much did from a person of her age much less a human. Some humans were quite wise though back on Spira.
Renzo turned to the boy. "My heart tells me to say..... yes," he told the boy. He was a bit unsure if what he said was true but maybe the this new feeling was the yes that he wanted a friend. He turned back the the teenage girl and nodded.

The cool water that caressed her ankles with the waves was a comfortable contrast to the warming sand underfoot. Like the warm sun on her shoulders and the soft breeze that occasionally breathed a wave of fresh air into the atmosphere, this Island seemed perfectly harmonized; a picture-perfect image of balance. It was a nice change from the rough ride she'd been experiencing since she'd first awakened in Traverse Town a few months back.
Has it already been that long? Her mind had questioned. But, before she could calculate an answer to that question, Hero spoke up again.
"Let's do it then, Renzo and Era."
"Let's be friends."
Her frost-colored gaze shifted from Hero to Renzo as if waiting for the third party to join in and seal the deal.
"My heart tells me to say..... yes,"
Era's infectious contentment blossomed further, manifesting in the form of a single nod. She curled her hand into a ball, holding the fist just beneath her chin. "You've got it!" So then, it was set: from here on out, she, Hero and Renzo would be friends.
"Much wisdom.... comes from you,"
She wanted to remain humble. She didn't want to gloat. However, the girl was truly grateful for the compliment. And so, Era did what she had always been known to do: she spoke her mind. A soft giggle had welled up inside to the point it surfaced, bringing a playful happiness to her words. "Why thank you."
She got the feeling that this three-way friendship was going to be a very good one. Maybe they could travel to other worlds together... Fight each others' battles together, and rarely face defeat. She could think on the possibilities forever...
"Say, are you both feeling any hungry?"
...But first, it seemed lunch was in order. Curiosity had greedily snatched her interest, and her focus re-calibrated on Hero. "Actually, I am. What did you have in mind?" Hopefully it wouldn't be anything too fancy. Era had always been independent. She loved staying out of debt as much as possible... And while she wouldn't allow Hero to pay for something to satiate her hunger, her munny revenue was running on the dry side.

(( Just gonna kinda skip ahead in time. ))
As Hero led the pair back to his small residence, signs of activity began to flare near the mainland, and he heard a distant bell ring. It did not take long - after but a few moments, Hero had his hand grasped on the doorknob of a somewhat shabby-looking, small cottage draped in a pale blue.
The inside could be described with only one word: Neat. On the outside, many things looked shoddy and not very well cared for, including the windowsills, however, every inch of furniture and space there was on the inside was polished and refurnished brown wood. Hero, on the other hand, was wondering wether it looked a bit too shiny. He led Era in with a gentlemanly grasp of hands and offered to take Renzo's jacket / vest.
"Take a seat." Hero said, noting the coffee table in the corner. Whilst they did so, Hero prepared a small breakfast. Once everything began cooking, Hero took some tea and led it back to where Renzo and Era sat. Pouring them each a substance that looked delicously brown, Hero took his own seat, humming happily. He hadn't had guests in quite a while.
Renzo watched as the teenage boy led the girl and him to a cottage. It was a humble place a nice human home, Renzo still preferred his little cave in the mountains more though. He ducked so his head wouldn't hit the door top. When he herd the boy ask for his vest he replied, "I'm not wearing a..... vest." He scratched the back of his head he had never been in a human house like this before it looked weird on the outside but on the inside it looked quite neat. I should really tidy up my place, he thought with a slight grin before making his grin fade.
Renzo took the seat offered to him. It was a tiny bit to small but he didn't care much he would take what was given. He looked at the two kids realizing he still didn't know there name. "What is.. both of your.. names?" he ask waiting for the food. He could smell the food cooking but couldn't guess what it was.
When the Boy brought over the a strange liquid in a cup, Renzo nonchalantly (I love that word so much) picked up the glass and took a sip of the liquid. It was tea and it was good tea, it was a little on the hot side though and Renzo made sure not to burn his tongue by drinking to much at once. The he thought for a second, When was the last time I was ever invited to someones residence a long time that's for sure.
Stepping foot into the tidy shack made Era wonder if she should take off her shoes: the area was so well-kept that it almost made her feel bad to soil the spotless floor. And so, she quickly pulled the buckles on her boots loose. It seemed she'd only just donned them, and already they were coming off again.
With a smirk, she scampered over toward the little coffee table, taking a seat on the furniture close by - which looked just as tidy as the practically shiny floor. She took in a deep breath, simply relaxing in the comforting little abode, and it wasn't long before her eyes wandered, scanning the walls of Hero's home for pictures... perhaps for memories. They rested momentarily on a little window, which was worn and foggy with age. She could make out a few vague greens - likely foliage swaying in the briny breeze, and the girl wondered what it would be like to live a routine-ish schedule in a place like this... A place to call one's own.
She didn't have long to contemplate before gentle humming broke into the air, signaling the return of their host...
...And he brought tea! Oh, how Era was going to enjoy this! Tea was one of her favorite things to drink... And it probably wasn't cheap. It was a gift she was sure to take note of.
The spitting sound of food of cooking food added to the homey environment. It was a kind change from the rough spats Life had been tossing her way. Her eyes glanced down to her tea, and she noted the reflection on its surface. It was a kind change indeed.
As she wrapped her delicate fingers around the tea cup, it welcomed her with a cozy warmth, and she brought it close to her mouth, stopping to take a whiff of the herbal remedy.
Frost colored eyes batted back up toward the host, and she offered him a small grin. "Thank you, Hero."
It was funny how even a drink of Tea could mean so much to her... But when you looked at the world through the eyes of an optimistic child, perhaps it made sense.
