Powers: Music of the Soul:Legato is able to listen to other people’s “song” emanating from their souls. This allows him to be able to discern the person’s feelings, personality and their alignment depending on the song. However, he has to focus and be making physical contact with the person who he wants to listen to. He can slightly manipulate the song of the soul (i.e. remove darkness from the soul, resurface their original personality), but has to be touching them. The recipient can have a minor personality change or lose their souls even if removal is successful, but this is very rare.
Once he hears the songs, it is recorded in one of his CD’s. He can insert that CD into his CD walkman in order to hear the music of the soul without physical contact. The CD walkman also functions as a tracker which when activated; a projection of an arrow appears above the walkman and points towards the person whose CD is in the walkman. It can get past illusions and trickery of any kind since it is next to impossible to change or hide the music of the soul. However, in order to track the person, they need to be on the same planet as Legato. If Legato listens to a CD of someone who has died, there will be no song. Legato finds it hard to discern people’s emotions but he is very capable of discovering the alignment and personality of the person.
Song:Legato is able to support his allies by falling into a trance and singing a variety of songs that improve various things in battle. They last for 6 posts and singing leaves Legato open for attack as he has to be in a trance state in order to sing the lyrics. He can only sing one song at a time and he cannot stop singing unless he is interrupted by an attack, shove or clonk on the head.
To discern who receives the buffs, he gives the people who he wants to receive the buffs a sticker of a CD which they have to stick somewhere on their body. This is recognition for the songs as to who the recipients are.
The songs range is the hearing range of his singing which is of about 20 metres. After the song ends, it has a one turn cool down before he can sing or use his shriek. Though nearly all the songs are inherited from his father, he crafted the Rapid March song and the Mana Pool song, both of which he prefers singing. The songs he can sing are:
Fierce Wrath: Increases the physical attack of the recipients.
Secure Shield: Increases the physical defence of the recipients.
Hyper Boost: Increases the magical potency of the recipients’ magical skills.
Luminescent Veil: Increases the magical defence of the recipients.
Sharp Aim: Increases the accuracy of recipients.
Rapid March: Increases the speed of the recipients.
Radiant Glow: Causes a little health to be continually restored to the recipients.
Mana Pool: Reduces all cool down time by 2 posts.
Virus Block: The Recipients are more resistant to all status effects.
Shriek:Legato is able to scream a high-pitched scream which spreads out around him for about 5 metres. Anyone who gets hit by it gets thrown back 10 metres away from Legato. This attack causes minor damage.
He doesn’t use this offensively but uses it in order to be able to run away or keep enemies off him. After using it, he has to cool down for 2 posts before using it again. This cool down time also refers to his singing and using the shriek makes him unable to sing for 2 turns.
Inherit:At the brink of death, he is able to pass on abilities to a close friend or family. The inheritor receives his songs and shriek, but not the music of the soul ability as that ability is genetic. He can distribute his powers between 2 or more people but all of them have to be close to him. He can only activate this ability right before he dies and has to make physical contact with the inheritor.
Weapon:Crazy Shooter: On his right arm, he had a holster that rapid fires CD’s at his foes. It is a plain red colour with no designs on it. His father and mother gave this to him on his 10th birthday. The CD’s only do minor damage but can be hit from a distance a maximum of 15 metres. They are quite easy to block but he can fire 6 in a row. He rarely uses it and would only use it in self defence or as a distraction. He always wears it with him wherever he goes.

Appearance:Legato is a boy with a height of around 5’4” and a weight of 135lbs, allowing him to be quick on his feet while having a decent amount of stamina. He has dark brown eyes and short, messy black hair with dark, tanned skin and no scars on any part of his body.
He wears a plain orange shirt and a pair of plain jeans. He also has a belt which has 3 compartments, one for the CD’s of the worlds, one for the CD’s of people and one where his walkman lies in. He always wears red and orange headphones which he either wears over his ears when listening to music or over his neck in all other situations. He wears a pair of plain white sneakers.
Personality: Legato quite enjoys fighting but would rather support his allies or run away than fight. If he is forced into a battle alone, he would try to escape rather than fight due to his weak power and his refusal to take a life. He realises that he could not possibly win in a fight alone as he is unable to deal a lot of damage to his foes. However, when with others, he gains a determination to support his friends to the bitter end. Though he realizes that war and killing can be required, Legato swore to himself to never kill anyone due to his experiences of the past. He can sometimes be unsure of which song to sing if fighting with new people and would need to ask someone which song he should sing before doing so as he wants to be as useful to his allies as possible. He is able to react to a battle situation quickly and provide as much support to his allies as possible.
He is a boy who severely underestimates his powers. He hates disappointing people to the point in which he will do nearly anything to please them. He also blames himself if something goes wrong, even if it isn’t his fault. He has a mortal fear of spiders and can go into a state of minor shock if he even sees one. He is also melancholic and often looks back to past experiences a lot.
His main hobby is music. He is proficient with nearly all instruments and enjoys singing songs. He knows songs from a variety of distant planets including earth. He is able to listen to these songs through his walkman and collects CD’s from each of the world’s Legato visits. He also received some CD’s from his father before he died. Legato’s life is revolved around music and you would often see him listening to music on his walkman or singing or humming to himself. He enjoys all types of music and can dance but doesn’t do it in public.
Legato is very empathetic and enjoys talking to people a lot. He doesn’t discriminate between Humans, Heartless and Nobodies and is willing to talk and get to know people before making judgements on them. He is a cheery person and always looks on the bright side of life. He also likes making up nicknames for everyone which he can remember due to his inability to remember names sometimes.
All he really wants is to make friends with people. He doesn’t really mind people unless they are extremely moody or are boastful. He likes being sarcastic as times. He opens himself up more the closer he is to someone. He’s bi and really doesn’t care about fashion, putting on whatever feels comfortable. Finally, his favourite colour is red and his favourite animal is the wolf.

History:Legato was born in Melodina in the city of Allegretto. Melodina is much like Earth however, some of the residents of Melodina have the ability to listen to the music of the soul. However, all residents are able to produce songs from the ancient language to have a variety of effects and are called song mages. The world Melodia is actually referred to by outsiders as ‘The Paradise of Song.’ There are two types of song magic, attack magic and support magic while support magic branches of in 2 ways. Most people on the world are able to sing only one type of song magic while some are able sing 2 types but very few people are able to sing all three types of magic.
While there is only one type of attack magic, there are 2 types of support magic. One type of support magic is battle support magic while the other is technical support magic and support mages. While battle support magic is based around healing allies, buffing allies etc., technical support is song magic to aid normal life i.e. cooking song magic to enhance flavours and crafting song magic to create things. Each city has a unique language, meaning that each city specialises in a certain type of songs with a variety of effects. The ancient language of Allegretto is called Ritartando, which specialises in battle support songs; songs based around crafting and fire elemental attack magic.
Legato was the youngest of 3 brothers and was the only one who inherited the music of the soul ability from his father, Jazz. Jazz is the only one from Allegretto so far who was able to sing all 3 types of magic. He looked up to him as a role model due to his ability to sing.
Allegretto was a small, semi-modern city surrounded by forest which was filled with technicians that were reputed for their CD walkmans. The Walkmans were made with the ability to listen to CD’s created via the music of the soul. It was the city’s only way of making money as no other cities on the world were able to make the walkmans due to its complex creation methods of which only the technicians of Allegretto were able to follow.
At the age of 7, he was given his CD walkman and headphones from his father, 2 of his most treasured items. His brothers received the three other CD’s of the worlds. He began listening to the songs from earth more often and so began his passion for music. He then pursued the musical arts and learned a variety of instruments including guitar, piano & flute. However, he preferred singing and was gifted with an amazing singing voice from his family.
At the age of 10, residents of the world craft their first song which will determine the type of song magic that they will develop into while every 5 years afterwards, a new song gets crafted. While his oldest brother, Pop, had already crafted technical support magic 2 years ago and his middle brother, Beat, crafted attack magic a year after, it was no surprise to anyone that Legato crafted a battle support magic, Rapid March. It was also at this age that his parents decided to give him the Crazy shooter which he holds dear to this day.
At the age of 11, Jazz got ill and died. Before he died, he gave each of his sons his song magic via the inherit skill which is unique to his bloodline. This is when Legato received a majority of his magic, including the Shriek ability. Legato was very sad that his father died and isolated himself for an entire year before talking to someone.
During the age of 13, people from Allegretto mysteriously disappeared. They were taken from their homes in the middle of the night and suddenly disappeared. One of his brothers, Pop was one of the people who disappeared. The only similarity between them all was that they were all attack song mages. This caused Legato to become even more melancholic by having to rely on memories of the past to remember Pop and Jazz.
A year later, all of the people that disappeared reappeared as suddenly as they disappeared. However, they changed. They became more irritable and overemotional. They were also unable to sing any type of songs causing. Pop seemed to know something about it, but kept quiet and lashed out at anyone who questioned him about it.
When Legato turned 15, he crafted the Mana Pool song and perfected the Music of the Soul Ability to a degree. Pop came to him when he was alone in the forest. He explained to Legato that the people who were kidnapped were tortured in an undisclosed location. They did cruel tests to see if they could manipulate the soul to control people. They added a parasite to the soul which was supposed to control them, but only made them aggressive and moody. He asked Legato if he could use his Music of the Soul ability to remove the parasite from his soul. Legato having no previous experience of changing the soul with his ability initially refused to help. Eventually, Pop convinced him to try to manipulate his soul. Though Legato was able to remove the parasite, it caused his soul to collapse, killing Pop. This traumatized Legato so much, he swore to himself that he would never kill again.
When Legato was 16, mysterious dark beings
invaded Melodina. He ran away as soon as he saw them but, they caught up to him and then it was darkness. When Legato woke up, he realised he wasn’t in Allegretto anymore...

Legato was lying down just after crafting his new song, Mana Pool. He enjoyed the crafting process as he was able to forget the drama in his life and though it was only for a moment, he was relieved that he was able to find some solace in forgetting everything. That’s why he enjoyed singing, he could forget the pain he felt everyday by losing himself in the music. However, he knew that he needed to continue with life and push through his troubles.
Thinking about it now, he realised his life is just one big drama fest. First of all his father died and then Pop went missing. At least his brother came back, but he changed somehow, he became more irritable and moody than he was happy.
“No, stop thinking like that! Be glad that he is back and alive.” He heard himself saying. Weird, he found himself talking to himself more and more often. While looking up towards the sky, he heard the rustling of leaves and sat up.
What was that?! he thought and got up, ready to run away should he need to. Through the forest, his brother Pop appeared and made his way towards him. Relaxing himself, he sat back down and asked
“What are you doing here?”“I came to talk to you.” He replied in a matter-of-factly tone. “I want to see something.”
“What?” He replied curiously. This is the first time he and Pop actually had a decent talk without shouting at each other.
“Why do you need me?”“Legato, remember when me and some others went missing that year?” He asked
“Yeah” He replied quickly.
“Well, during that time, we were tortured and put through many, harsh experiments. They never told us what they were but ever since we were released, I have been thinking about what they wanted to do and I think I have found out what but, in order to prove my theory, I need you to do something.”
“What?” Legato replied with more enthusiasm. He wanted to help him anyway he can. Though he was initially shocked at Pop’s revelation, he cared more about how he could help him.
“I’ll do anything, anything!”“Listen to my soul.”
“O.k...” Legato replied apprehensively. He was rather taken aback by the bluntness of his question and it took some time to get his mind straight before answering.
“Sure, just be sure not to distract me, it takes some concentration to hear the song. Just be quiet and don’t move.”“Thanks, you don’t know how much this means to me.” He said graciously. Pop lay down on the forest bed and closed his eyes.
“O.k, let’s get started.” Legato said to himself. Laying a finger on Pop’s head, he began to focus in order to hear his song. It suddenly came to him in a loud crash. His music was loud and erratic yet, it sounded unnatural compared to what he usually heard. Wanting the madness to stop, he yanked his finger off him and jumped up. Immediately the music stopped and a CD materialized out of nowhere and Legato quickly stashed it away in his CD case. He was exhausted by the music, he never had heard anything like it. It worried him to no end.
“How was it?” Pop asked inquisitively as he sat up. He had a curious and pained look on his face as he asked it, clearly seeing he was tired out by it.
“It was horrid. No offense to you, but it was unnatural, loud and painful to listen to. I have never heard anything like it.” He replied exasperated. He didn’t know how he would respond. Would he be angry, sad, annoyed? He was surprised when a look of joy spread crossed his face.
“Why are you so happy?”“I was right!” He yelled gleefully. “I knew it. I had a feeling that it had something to do with the soul. What I think they were trying to achieve was to control the soul. They wanted to create an army of attack mages that were easy to control. Think about it. They only took attack mages and they tampered with the soul. It’s the only logical explanation! However, they inserted a parasite which accidentally destroyed the part of the soul where song magic originates from. The only thing they could do was release us. I might be wrong but still, it all adds up.”
Legato was shocked about what he was hearing.
Who could possibly think of committing such an atrocious thing?! Tampering with the soul, that isn’t right!It took him a while to realise that Pop was speaking to him again.
“I want you to do one more thing for me.” He told him. His face now portrayed no emotion, Legato could tell he was serious.
“What now?” He asked, he thought he knew what he wanted to ask and he knew he wanted no part of it.
“I want you to manipulate my soul, return it back to normal and natural. I think then I would get my singing back.”
“No.” He replied quickly. He wanted no part of it. He had only just mastered manipulating the soul and he didn’t want to risk Pop being his first victim.
“I can’t do it, you know what could happen, you could lose your soul. You could die!” Legato said furiously.
“I trust you.” He replied kindly. “Your my brother. You are the only one in the family that has this ability. I cannot go to anyone else. You are the only person I can go to in the world for this. Please, you are the only one who can.”Legato can hear the desperation in his voice, but he couldn’t, not with the risks that it brings.
“No!” He shouted angrily.
“No! No! No! No! I can’t do it! I won’t do it! Not with the risks it brings, not with the price you could pay. I love you brother. I cannot play with your life, I can’t! I just can’t! I love you too much. Please, don’t get angry at me. I just can’t” He said in exasperation.
“Stop it!” Pop shouted. He looked livid. “Stop putting yourself down, stop denying your powers! You can help me. Yes, you! And only you can help me. Do you know how hard it is not to be able to sing? Do you know how painful it is to hear you every day while I have nothing? Do you? If you love me, you would help me in any way possible. If you loved me, you would not reject me. You would do it in order to help me in any way possible. You would do it knowing the risks. You would do it without thinking. You would do it to make me happy. Please, just do it. Do it for me.” Pop then suddenly broke down into tears.
Legato didn’t know how to react. He could sense the sadness and the anguish coming from his words. He completely forgot that Pop was unable to sing. He felt stupid. Stupid that he didn’t realise the pain he was going through everyday ever since he returned. He gave up. He had to do it. His brother had a way with words that caused him to change mindsets in a heartbeat.
“Fine. I’ll do it. Just be aware of the consequences. You could have a change in personality or even lose your soul and die. I don’t know how you do it Pop. I’ll do my best.”“Thank you! Thank you....” He replied gratefully. Tears were still rolling down his eyes as he lay down and closed his eyes. “I am ready.”
Legato crouched down and put his finger on Pop again. The music of the soul came back and was deafening. He wasn’t sure really what to do. He had only read about it so he wasn’t really sure what to do. His thought processes were marred by the outrageously loud music that the soul was creating. He decided to try and quieten and slow down the song.
Drawing all of his focus upon it, Legato tried to forcefully slow down and quieten the music. It seemed to be working. The music seemed to bend towards his will and the music got quieter and slower. Thinking it worked, Legato immediately withdrew his finger from Pop and sat down, exhausted.
With great joy, he exclaimed
“I did it Pop! I did it! I removed the artificial sound!” Pop didn’t respond.
“Pop? Pop! Did you hear me? I did it Pop, wake up!” He didn’t respond. Legato was getting worried, so he put his finger on Pop and tried to find his music. He heard nothing. He focused harder and again tried to find the music. Nothing again. Focusing with all his might, he once again tried to find his soul one last time. Nothing. At that moment, he realised what had happened. His happiness turned to dread as he realised what he had done.
“Pop! Pop! Open your eyes, listen to me don’t die on me!” Legato shouted, desperate for it not to be true, for him to still be alive.
“Pop! Wake up! Don’t die on me! Don’t die on me...” Tears were streaming down his face as he looked over his brother’s body. He was dead. There was no denying it. Pop was dead and it was his fault. Legato’s fault for Pop being dead. Legato killed Pop, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

Hope you like it! Do we need to include birthdays? How do we add hyperlinks to other websites on words? I could go into more detail about the differences between the song magic, but it would take forever for me to write, might tell you later on, in character that is if I’m accepted. I would be willing to do the RP academy if my RP skills aren’t that good. I do think the appearance & Crazy Shooter explanation leaves much to be desired but I had mind blank when it came to it, but it would be easy to cosplay....
