Name: Lily Keralde
Age: Twenty-one (birthday in September)
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Position: A long way from home
Weapon: No, Left it at home,
still haven’t picked up a new one. People are starting to nag her about it though, so she probably will soon.
Unless you count the ‘dex. The ‘dex is a handheld computer, not a weapon in the traditional sense, but it is able to: scan and record and catalog the surroundings and correlate new data with previously entered information, to link up to any computer or network, send and receive radio, television, satellite, and ect., circumvent password locks and firewalls, take pictures, communicate even when there is no network to piggyback on (though there’s strictures to that), and tell time. It responds to typed commands, touchscreen, and voice. It will not respond to an unauthorized attempt to use it.
Powers:O~kay, pay attention now, this part’s confusing.
It is considered a law of nature that everyone has some spark of magic inherently tied into their life force. For most, it’s latent - a capacity more than an ability, and for many, inaccessible. (Although that changes with where you are. Here, it would seem most people can awaken it.)
A very few people have no magic, but absorb it from other people and the world around them. This makes them very tiring to be around.
Lily is an exception. She has absolutely no inherent magic. This makes other magic react oddly to her. Much of it doesn’t work on her at all, simply not recognizing her existence; this is especially true of the big wonder-magics.
She can, however, take a completed spell that is fed to her - or thrown at her - and let it resonate about inside her until the power is increased anywhere from threefold to tenfold, and all without losing the shape of the spell, no matter how intricate and subtle. The resonations give her what can become a debilitating headache. She can throw the power wherever she needs to - bleed it off into the ground, throw it back at the caster - whatever seems right, really. She has this one really neat trick where, if the opponent throws a spell that’s still connected at their end, she can set herself up as a siphon and drain them into the ground until they go into shock.
This is all because she has the channels for magic, but nothing in them, and they’re completely nonporous. It is an entirely reactive ‘power’.
PictureAppearance: Lily has a pointed, gamin face with a too-small nose and a to-large mouth and blue eyes that always seem to be on the verge of laughter. When she grins, which is often, it seems to eat up her whole face. Her red-brown-blond hair is cropped close and tends towards wildness. She is of medium height and a bit on the skinny side. While Lily is certainly not beautiful, she is vibrant and vital and bright and attracts attention, and that’s more than close enough for her.
Her costume tends to be sagey-green pseudo-cargo pants with lots of pockets and a braded leather belt, and thick boots with a dancer’s split sole. She always wears a vivid blue vest, also covered in pockets. The color and cut of her shirts vary, and change out every day.
Personality:Lily has spent most of her life learning to keep her mouth shut, but she’s still not very good at it. She tends to say just what she thinks, and never quite got the concept of authority conferred by power. Plus she’s stubborn. And abrasive.
On the other hand, she will help you out for no apparent reason, never mind that it’s not her battle, or her people, or her problem. Or whether you think you want help. In fact, she likes nothing better than seeing new places and getting involved in other peoples quests. It’s almost pathological.
She’s not brave so much as fearless. As in, fear is something that mostly happens to other people. This is not an admirable trait, or even a particularly healthy one, but she manages. Lily is very self -aware - a somewhat more admirable trait, though it can and has managed to get her in to just as much trouble. She can lie with ease, though she rarely bothers as there doesn’t seem to her much point. She’s intelligent and insightful and willful, brazen and brash. She’s also good at listening.
Original World: Earth. Ish. Not quite the one where I’m sitting here typing this and you’re reading it now, but only a strand or two over. And yes, from Austin, Texas.
And now by way of another place (also called Earth, if you were wondering) and the country of Fleetwood.
Current Residing World: Rambling
History/Background:Lily is originally from your basic modern-day ordinary non-fantasy world. One day, her mom, Lin Keralde, went off with some old friends from a vaguely medieval magic-dependent fantasy type of world, to bring down a particularly nasty bloodpather with designs on world domination. It turned out that Lin, many years ago, accidentally hopped worlds, where she got mucked up with their politics something awful, eventually helping to oust a usurper and put the rightful heir up, which is how the current monarchs won back the Tanith throne. That would be Justan the Sunmark king and Kiari his queen. It was a long and complicated story in itself, and it left a few loose ends. Like the bloodpath mage who was behind a lot of it.
So off Lin went, and Lily, being Lily, followed. Many adventures ensued, from tramping over the Wintergard mountains on foot (just as much fun as it sounds like) to storming a castle with two people (now that really
was fun). They did finally manage to kill the mage for good, too.
Ever since, Lily has been splitting her time between the two worlds - universes, really - to the point where she considers them both home.
She’s had some few adventures since then, as well, involving more world-hopping and zombies and chaos and that thing with the ifrit, but you’ll have to ask her about that.
The important stuff to how she got
here goes something like this: Tanith and Fleetwood are traditionally very close allies - Fleetwood is actually inside Tanith’s borders - so one of the other people involved in all that with the usurper and the bloodpather was Riln Fleetwood, a greenspeaker and the Lord of the Wood. Riln and Lin became best friends and, later, oathsibs. Riln married Syn, who was raised by fairies. Good so far?
Now, Lily is dating their son, Taian Fleetwood. There’s a story there too, but it isn’t really the point just now. The point is that Syn’s family - the fairy one - has a long-standing feud with another clan of Fair Folk.
Now, Lily - brilliantly - has just managed to make the Lord of this other lot really, really angry. Again. She seems to have a knack for it. One of these days, she’s going to have to learn to stop ticking off powerful capricious otherworldly wizard types. He shoved her though the world veil to some random place without looking – also again. He likes doing that. Probably because it’s one of the few things that works on her.
So you see, showing up here was only partly her fault, because his clan hates her boyfriend’s mother’s adopted family.
Anyway, now she’s here.
The first person she met was Shiru Kitamara, who taught her how to steal Gummi ships from Heartless.
She’s been to a few different worlds here, and met a number of people, mostly briefly. There was a rave in Hades’ throne room to which she brought the music, there was that savanna grasslands place where everybody else was reformed into native animals - and so on.
At the moment she’s hanging out on Twilight Town.
