In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Yep, there were definitely no humans at all. Shiro took in the sight as he was walking out of the large oasis. There were about a good twelve different species of animals in his view. He felt like he was watching a nature channel. Turning his head, slightly, the kudu looked down at his dog friend, Saxen. So before they would go to look for V, Saxen wanted to pick up Deathblade. Deathblade wasn’t the friendliest person he knew, but having a lion on their side was a huge advantage. He just hoped Deathblade’s animal instincts wouldn’t kick in, otherwise he’d be dinner. Hopefully, Deathblade could control himself if that would happen.
V had to be somewhere out there, right? He was really worried about her. What if she was an herbivore like him? She might’ve been… No, he had to stop the thought. He couldn’t put that thought in his head, otherwise he would lose focus. He had to focus on the ship. He had to focus. He just had to focus. It was really hard not to think about it. She was the love of his life, was she not? If something happened to her… He just stopped there. Thinking about the aftermath of that situation would just put him in a bad mood. So, taking a deep breath, he stopped thinking about her for now.
Now where was Saxen’s ship…? Turning his head again, he looked to see if he could spot it. Shiro couldn’t see it from where he was. The kudu turned his head once again and looked back at the dog. ”Alright, Saxen. Lead the way to your ship,” said the gravity controller. The kudu, honestly, wanted to lead the way. He knew there were carnivores out there and he kind of wanted Saxen to be in the back, just so no predators would sneak up on the herbivore. Oh well, he would just have to hope. He continued to look at the dog, waiting for him to lead.

(Sorry for the short starting post, there was nothing else to do. Anyways, good title to the sequel of Learning to walk, eh? )

Saxen was having so much fun on this world. I mean, he was a dog! There was no way he was EVER going to get over that; it was just too exciting! Once Shiro started walking, Saxen ran past him, but he kept doubling back, running back behind him, and then bounding ahead again. He didn't look at his surroundings much, but what he saw was pretty cool. There were wide open areas and hills that he really wanted to run around in, but he had a goal. He kept running forward and back, making sure to move at Shiro's pace. After about five minutes of walking, he had forgotten what they were doing. He studied Shiro's face for a second to try and remember. It didn't help. His focus was slipping again. That wasn't good.
Shortly after that, he had totally forgotten any sense of purpose that he had had. He stopped for a second and looked over at one of the fields. His face went blank for a second before he took off. He ran with no purpose other than to run. His tong hung out of the side of his mouth and he ran. He went into a wide arc back and, after running a few tighter circles and figure-eights, dropped into a roll. He rolled around on his back for a little while before rolling next to Shiro. He twisted himself to his feet and brought his tongue back into his mouth. Looking up at Shiro, he asked, "What were we doing again? I kind of forgot. . ." He pawed at the ground a couple of times and stared down. Why couldn't he focus? Why couldn't he just do what he was supposed to do? He felt bad, because he knew there was something important they had to do, but he just couldn't remember what.

Once the dog sprinted off, Shiro gulped, knowing that he was definitely in the back now. He turned his head a bit more, just making sure there were no predators ready to pounce. Once he learned that everything was clear, he started to head forward, following the dog that was his friend. Honestly, he had thought that Saxen was leading him to the ship, but after a bit, it looked like his friend had lost it. Saxen looked like he had lost himself to his “wild” side, because there seemed to be nothing on his mind besides running around and playing. This made Shiro think that Saxen should’ve been the lion and Deathblade should’ve been the dog. That way, Saxen would be a little more focused.
When the dog rolled next to the kudu, the dog asked him about what they were doing. This made him rethink about having the dog as his ally on this world. Was there a way to change one’s form? That would really help the both of them if there was, but he highly doubted there was a way. So maybe he should just go and find Deathblade by himself and let Saxen have his fun. Hmm… Yeah, that seemed like the best thing to do. With his mind made up, he turned to look at the dog. ”Saxen, it’s alright, go on and have fun. I guess I can find your ship by myself,” he told Saxen. And with that, he started to walk away from the dog, trying to see if he could spot the ship as he walked.
Wait. . . did Shiro just tell him to go and have fun? What, did Shiro think he was useless, now, because he was having a hard time keeping his focus? He was walking away! That was so rude! He looked around real quick to try and locate where his ship had landed. Darn his inferior eyesight! His nose! That's right! Dogs may have bad eyes, but their noses are awesome! He tried to locate his ship using his hearing and smell and was able to pick up a familiar scent and find the brush that he had landed behind. He barked at Shiro a couple times, to get his attention, before speaking up. "Shiro, come on! It's this way! Follow me!" He turned around and ran at the bushes, diving through them to his ship on the other side.
Deathblade had been lying next to the ship since Saxen had left. He hadn't really moved, though he had ended up lying on his side. He was getting a little hungry, but he couldn't leave. He was just waiting for something to come into the area so he could eat it. Suddenly, something jumped through the bushes hiding the ship. Deathblade jumped to his feet and got ready to pounce. Maybe this was the meal he had been waiting for. . .
Saxen turned in the direction of the ship and saw Deathblade ready to pounce. "Dude, it's just me!" He watched Deathblade plop back down onto the ground, possibly disappointed, but his expression was fairly blank, so Saxen wasn't quite sure. "Shiro should be coming, soon, so, please, don't eat him!" He was talking fast, but he needed to get that message across before Shiro came in. If he didn't, Deathblade might pounce him and eat him.

Sadly, the kudu couldn’t spot the ship from where he was. Damn. That meant more walking with no idea where to go, which meant there would be more time for a predator to find him and kill him. About to walk, he heard Saxen calling his name. Sighing, he turned around and looked to see where his dog friend was going now. Now would Saxen just lose his goal again and get them lost…? Shiro thought there was a good chance of that, but then again, he was probably going to get himself lost too. So it was probably best to get lost with a friend right. A dog could protect the kudu from carnivores and heartless somewhat, right? He hoped so.
As the dog dashed into the bushes, the kudu started to walk that way. But before he could reach the bushes, he heard a noise. Turning his head, wide eyed, he looked at the things that had suddenly appeared behind him. Four aerial knockers stared at the kudu while knocking their little boxer glove type things together. It kind of looked like they were a gang, ready to beat him up. Along with them, a shaman was standing there, staring him down. Without his gravity working at the moment, he muttered, ”Ah shit.” Any human who would see that would laugh, because when was the last time you’d see an animal say “shit”.
Without any hesitation, the kudu yelled, ”Saxen! Help!” Once done, the kudu shut his eyes and prepared for the first attack. Well, it wasn’t like he was able to run. He had just learned to walk. Besides, if he ran, he’d alert more heartless and once he’d fall… It’d be over. So all he did from then was hope for Saxen to come. Hopefully Saxen would be there soon… And that was only if Saxen would come.

Deathblade smiled and got to his feet. "Finally, something to do," he growled. He jumped out of the bushes and roared. He stared at the Heartless for a moment before doing anything. The Shaman would obviously be the easiest target, seeing as it was on the ground. The Aerial Knockers would be a little more difficult, being more agile.
Saxen jumped through the brush just after Deathblade's roar. "Shiro, you have antlers! Use them on the ground enemy. Deathblade and I will handle the boxer-birds." He ran at one of the Aerial knockers and jumped up, clamping his teeth around the tail and clawing at its body. He got hit in the face a couple of times, but he kept on his target until it disappeared.
Deathblade watched Saxen come out and take charge. Of course he would. . . he's a soldier all the way.
He reared up onto his hind legs and started his own "boxing match" with the Aerial knockers. They exchanged some blows, and the fact that they outnumbered him made it difficult to keep up, especially since he was fighting with paws and claws instead of fists and blades. He got knocked over a couple times, and he, for once in his life, felt pain.
Deathblade rolled back to his feet and roared again, attacking more fiercely than before, finishing off the last three Aerial Knockers with a little help from Saxen. Once those Heartless were finished off, Deathblade lied down on the ground, again, muttering about still being hungry and Saxen sat next to him. "You okay, Shiro?"[/blockquote]
