In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Commander Lyle T. Rourke
Commander Lyle Rourke stood above the lobby of the Radiant Garden mothership, solemnly facing the giant glass window with his hands clasped behind his back.
Behind and below him he could hear the crew mates darting back and forth to deliver gummi parts, transfer stretchers carrying the wounded, and distribute various supplies and commands. Static sounded behind him as the two remaining ships communicated excitedly with each other via radio.
Before him loomed the source of the renewed energy aboard the Ulysses Fleet. Rotating slowly outside the thick glass was a world of water, appearing small at first but growing in size as they approached. Rourke gazed steadily at the blue sphere, unperturbed by the evident blandness of the surface. In those watery depths hid their prize.
"Take her down."
"Yes, sir!"

Nyra Rei Kaze
Also facing the giant glass window, beneath the captain's overhang, a young woman stared at the blue mass revolving slowly in space. It was a world, it had to be. But unlike Traverse or Twilight Town, this world they were approaching was nothing more than an unbroken orb of water.
Everyone's excitement was somewhat tempered by the somber mood hanging over both ships. The fleet had been attacked days ago; and yet, standing where she was, it still felt as though the Twilight mothership had just been destroyed, and all those lives had been lost just that morning.
After the Heartless horde had been fought off, she and Ravian, elated from their victory, had flown about to help people aboard the Twilight ship along with most of the other gummis. The incident wasn't as nearly as much of a disaster as it could have been.
But still, Nyra gazed at the blue world with mixed feelings. Excitement and anticipation went hand in hand with foreboding and doubt.

Rose stood on the bridge, in an out of the way corner. She gazed admiringly at the blue planet. "Beautiful..." She walked closer to the window as the ship approached. She stopped just next to the Commander. "What is this world, that's so important to you guys? Is this a scientific journey, or a money making venture?" she asked, not caring whether or not the information was classified. After he answered, she stepped closer to the window, careful to stay out of the way of the people who were working. She had always loved the water...
Beneath her in her shadow, Halen rested. He felt happiness from his mistress, and this made him happy. So, he was having a lovely nap, having adopted an old soldiers code: "Never stand when you can sit, and never sit when you can sleep."
A little ways back from Nyra, Ravian sat. This ship was amazing it felt like he was on the nautilus. It was huge, fast and just amazing. Even more amazing was the view. He had never seen a world from this view, it was amazing. An unbroken orb of water. It was gleaming and looked impossible. Not even a drop fell from the orb, he couldn't figure it out. He, unlike most of the people on the ship, was trying to stay happy and excited and though on the inside he was failing miserably. He wasn't about to let anyone know it but the destruction of the twilight town ship had shaken him. So many people were just gone. He wondered how many of the original crew would make it and more than that he wondered if he would be next. Just some body floating through the void for eternity. It was unsettling.
It made the victory of his ship so unsatisfying. He had been hoping to defeat the beast that attacked them and destroyed thier sister ship. But that would have to wait if it ever happened. It was on to Atlantis now, though wig all the water he was beginning to think his powers would be useless. Possibly even a liability, a nuisance. He had never had that problem before. They usually were a huge advantage, but when water was around.....ugh. He shivered. Though he loved to swim it required him to have no electricity charged up or face extremem pain, possibly even drown and this planet was covered in water.
He was beginning to wonder if coming on this journey was such a good idea. Though he never would have forgave himself if he hadn't come and he couldn't back out now especially with the final pieces of the puzzle coming together. They just had to enter the world and find a giant city now. How hard could that be, like finding the bell tower in traverse town. Or spotting the ruins in radiant gardens, just a matter of taking a quick look around. He smiled feeling much better now. "we're almost there" he said not really caring who heard.
A U D R E Y R A M I R E Z "HOY VOY A CAMBIAR, REVISAR BIEN MIS MALETAS"
She had failed.
Though one could say that becoming a grouch and spending most of her time alone wouldn't be the smartest thing to do, Miss Audrey Ramirez couldn't really care less by now. One of their ships was long gone, and about half a hundred of the finest men and women in the whole galaxy had perished in their recent battle with that gigantic "Heartless" creature. Oh, and guess what? All of those deaths.. all of those losses... they could have all been avoided, and it was all her fault.
Stepping forward, she walked into the ship's bridge area and the effect was instantaneous. About a dozen pairs of eyes rose to stare at her, and they all gave (again) what she called "the look". Ramirez sighed, closing her eyes for a moment in an attempt to calm her irritation. Seriously, when someone is obviously having a bad day, the last thing you should do is push their buttons like there's no tomorrow. She hated the looks they gave her. Really, she despised those "Oh, Audrey, dear, poor thing, you're so miserable" looks. Fortunately for them, she didn't feel like using her wrench as a smacking utensil that day.
The mechanic turned away, offering an older woman who had started to say something a sharp glare. Audrey already knew what she was going to say and she didn't believe a single word of it. They all said it wasn't her fault, they all claimed she was innocent; deep down, however, how many of them truly meant it?
Approaching the large, glass window at the end of the bridge, the latina caught a glimpse of brown among the multitude, creating a small smile across her face. Last night's talk with Nyra had been actually quite pleasant for Audrey and, thanks to her, she had finally felt that total and utter peace she was looking for... at least for as long as their "meeting" lasted.
It seemed as if this day would be quite grand and perfect, but for some reason Audrey couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss...
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "NEVER THOUGHT THAT I'D BE LEAVING YOU TODAY"
A soft sigh escaped his lips as he continued to gaze at the world before them. It wasn't anything special to the naked eye, being nothing more than a floating orb of water, but their true destination remained hidden among the innards of the world.
Atlantis.
The world's mere name was interesting enough, and the idea of learning more about a missing and long dead civilization was quite thrilling for him. Sure, Mikhail was no scholar, but he was aware that there were many valuable things to be learned from this expedition. Hopefully they wouldn't run into another Heartless party anytime soon as the world apparently lacked a large amount of hearts, but the attack the Ulysses fleet had suffered days ago had just been enough to plant doubts in his mind. So many people had been lost in the battle and that gigantic Heartless (The "Dark Predator", as EVE had called it) had been something he had never seen or faced before.
However, they couldn't stop to mourn all the ones they had lost; the crew still had a long way to go and the least they could do was to honor them by going forward and fulfilling their wishes. Rutherford smiled, stepping away from the window as he headed back to his quarters. He couldn't wait to come back to Traverse Town and tell Antique about all the wonders he was about to live.
Milo took a moment to jot down his thoughts in a leather-bound journal he had snagged from the Smithsonian gift shop before he had left for his journey across the stars.
Costly equipment has been lost. Lives had been stolen away in the dark shadows of certain evil. Moral is…not at it’s highest.
But despite some minor setbacks, we have almost arrived at the gateways to Atlantis!
Alright, it was hard to keep everything in its proper perspective. Things hadn’t exactly gone strictly according to plan and some of the results had been devastating. However, but it didn’t stop the fact that Milo was beside himself with excitement and anticipation. The blue orb of a World beckoned to him, calling out his name, inviting him to explore and learn from an ancient civilization whose wisdom and technological achievements far outpaced anything he had known at home. Whatever home meant these days.
The shadows known as Heartless have the power to destroy a ship. I believe it may even be possible for a Heartless to destroy an entire World. Imagine a universe without New York.
He tapped his pencil against his bony chin, before writing absently… Where would people go to get a Coney Island dog?
He had never thought on a scale so big before. They weren’t just dealing with a few countries situated on a planet, whose inhabitants spoke a variety of primarily Latin based languages. They were dealing with Worlds with their own rules that flew in the face of logic at every turn! How it was he was able to understand some of these strangers was truly a remarkable feat.
English seems to be the universal tongue, for reasons which are not yet clear to me. English is of Germanic descent and I feel confident that Germany has never claimed its boundaries beyond one World.
Well…he had been wrong before. Addendum: I feel confident that I have never been informed of Germany having any kind of access to other Worlds.
Exploration wasn’t an exact science. It was more important to accept what was and make decisions based on that. That’s what his grandfather would have said anyway.
Dr. Joshua Sweet let out a pant after, he was rescued from the Twilight Town mothership. He wiped a bead of sweat off of his head coming back to reality. He noticed some of the other crew that were rescued were injured.
Sweetie quickly went to one of the injured crew members and, started assessing him for any form of injury. After noticing a large cut along the back he quickly washed the cut out and, then patched it up with some gauss. he then stood up and looked for anyone else severely injured but instead he noticed the ship approaching a blue orb in the sky. The world he was looking at was truly beautiful and, he just knew it was Atlantis.
"Amazing," He told himself completely forgetting everything for a moment but, he finally came back to reality.
"If anyone is severely injured just call for me and I'll start working on you," He called out to all the crew members on the Traverse Town Mothership.

Max walked through the corridors of the ship, contemplating everything that had happened. That gigantic Heartless that had appeared and attacked the fleet, the Dark Predator as both his and Mikhail's gummi AIs had called it, had managed to destroy the Twilight Town ship. It had resulted in a terrible loss of life, especially considering how much the expedition had lost already. It was a wonder how Commander Rourke didn't call it all off and head back home.
As he walked through the corridors, he caught sight of their goal, Atlantis, outside one of the windows. He stopped for a moment, gazing at the pure blue orb of water before letting out a sigh. Many people had died to get them where they were. He hoped that it wouldn't all be for nothing.....
"What is this world, that's so important to you guys? Is this a scientific journey, or a money making venture?"
"Miss, this world is a gigantic scientific discovery," Rourke answered simply. He gazed out the huge dome as he spoke. "The lost city of Atlantis has been a mystery to those from our world since ancient times. Who knows what our team might find here? There's theories of evolution, geography, physics - if we're rewarded in gold for our efforts and lost men, than so be it. But I imagine the knowledge we're bringing home will be a more than sufficient prize."
After this he returned his attention to the world outside.
"Diving officers, submerge the ship."
With a loud whirring the Ulysses fleet breached the atmosphere of the blue world, and with the slightest of shudders dipped beneath the water.
Considering the limited technology and resources during their rough construction, the hydrodynamic build of the Motherships was an impressive feat. Rourke watched in satisfaction as they plunged deeper into the water, floodlights switching on to illuminate the watery biome they had invaded. Little of his attention had been caught by the strange, diverse sea life that had suddenly engulfed their field of vision. He surveyed the view on high alert.
After a few minutes of visibly peaceful waters, the Commander turned and strode away from the glass dome and towards the control room.

Nyra Rei Kaze
If Nyra had imagined the journey to Atlantis before, it was nothing in comparison to what she was experiencing now. Her eyes widened as the two ships suddenly became submarines, cutting through the depths of the water and plunging them into ever growing darkness. She outright gaped when the floodlights switched on, and an entirely new world was brought into stunning clarity.
The underwater ecosystem they had just entered was bizarre beyond belief, but at the same time eerily beautiful. They passed odd, luminescent sea creatures, some smaller than her little finger, some large enough to fit into the lobby with little room to spare. While some lumbered peacefully by, unalarmed by the strange new inhabitant of their home, others flitted away from the glare of the lights, or flared in what she could only assume to be each species' specialized defense mechanism. Nyra was reminded of some of the lizards back at home.
After a few more minutes of awed silence in the hold of the Radiant Garden ship, a gasp was heard from somewhere behind her. Towering structures of rock had come looming into view. Monoliths and natural arches of stone soon surrounded the fleet, huge and solemn, like an underwater mountain range.
Nyra tore her eyes away from the sight, if only to observe the reactions around her. Other expressions weren't far off from what she imagined hers to have looked like. Glancing around, she caught sight of Audrey, and with a wave and a grin beckoned for her to come join her.
A cane. The medical staff had made him carry a cane. They couldn't figure out what was messing with him, so they called it fatigue and, after plenty of argument, consented to let him off with a cane. They wanted to confine him to quarters for a little while, make him rest, but he wouldn't. He walked his way up to the bridge, leaning heavily on the cane. In spite of his reluctance, he was glad for it. The random growth of bones was getting tiring and painful. They would grow through his skin, then fall away and break apart, and it kept happening over and over.
Limping onto the bridge, he looked around at the people there. He recognized a lot of them. Milo and Mikhail particularly stood out to him. Now, who was he going to go over to? Mikhail seemed the best option at that time. He needed a bit of support. He moved across to Mikhail and looked out at the water, placing his weight on the cane. He inhaled deeply and let out a heavy sigh. "Our conversation was cut short, before. Care to pick it back up?"
Ravian became a little nervous as the ships entered the water. It was amazing, that was for sure. But he and water tended not to go together well. He looked around wondering if there was anywhere to discharge, though if everything went well be shouldn't need to worry about contact with water and if he did need to worry about it....he was probably dead anyways, they weren't near the surface....depressing thoughts. He should probably stay away from those. Especially on a submarine.....space ship...thing.
He looked around watching things behind the glass. Some of them looked viscous and others seemed, just, alien. Absolutely crazy. He saw a fish that was shiny with huge teeth, it looked almost like it was made of...some metal and it's eyes were so....what was the word? Bulbous. That fit perfectly, bulbous, glossed over, seemingly blind eyes. "creepy" he said under his breath. Eels, squid, and fish. Everything seemed to be down here. Lurking in the darkness, though some glowed as if they wanted to be found, like some long eel with a giant mouth and an impressively large transparent fish.
There were so many different forms of life down here. It was surprising to say the least. With how cold and dark it was here. He wouldn't expect anything to be down here, especially anything deadly. He then spotted saxen walk in, remembering how angry deathblade had gotten at the thought of being lied to. He wondered if he still would be, or if he would still be mad. Maybe he wouldn't even remember. Ravian mused in his mind.
He also noticed a few of the ships staff among the people in the lobby. The apparent engineer girl (which he had trouble believing given her size)) with an accent who walked around as if she owned the place and a skinny man with large glasses. He guessed that was the atlantean expert people were talking about. He wasn't impressive at all, Ravian had been expecting an adventurer.
He sighed and stood, walking closer to the glass in order to get a better look at the creatures outside. "I wish they weren't so skittish" he said. He couldn't get a good look at the small ones, they always seemed to run away as soon as he caught a glimpse of them. He ran a few arcs of electricity through his hand trying to get more light but it was no use, what he really needed was a flash light or a lantern or possibly to light up his whole arm. But he didn't want to hurt anyone if they bumped into him. He let out yet another sigh as a small cloud of fish turned as soon as the light of the lobby touched them. "anyone have a flashlight?" he said loudly.
((Just a reminder regarding future posts: we're still divided on two motherships. There's a list of people in the Taking Off thread's page number three, but to avoid further confusion I'm going to ask everyone to post their character's location (Traverse Town Mothership, Radiant Garden Mothership, Tallula Ocean, etc) on the top of their posts.))
A U D R E Y R A M I R E Z "Y SACAR MIS SENTIMIENTOS Y RESENTIMIENTOS TODOS"
Radiant Garden Mothership
The smile widened and grew into a grin as Nyra glanced at her, inviting her to watch their arrival to these unexplored waters beside her. Still, Audrey couldn't help but feeling a bit uneasy, and perhaps even queasy, as they plunged into the world's atmosphere (or sea, since the place actually lacked a true atmosphere). After all she wasn't used to interplanetary travel and she hadn't really explored any other places before this expedition. Miss Ramirez was a mechanic, an engineer, but not a traveler.
Letting a soft chuckle escape her lips, the tomboy playfully punched her friend's shoulder as they gazed through the windows before them. She was quite surprised, to be frank, to know that they hadn't shattered upon entering the world; where had Rourke found such materials? She had been forced to even search under rocks while building the Twilight Town Mothership. But then, again, this Radiant Garden seemed to be much more advanced than Twilight Town, at least technology-wise.
However, as boyish as she could sometimes be, Audrey was soon captivated by the beauty hidden within these waters. They were surrounded by many species of fish, most of them strange and unrecognizable by her but still charming nonetheless. She sighed, looking at Nyra for a moment before turning back to these new and undiscovered ecosystems. She seemed awed like the rest of the people around them.
"Amazing, right?"
However, before she could even get a reply, Ramirez heard gasps among the crew. This time, however, they sounded shocked. Squinting her eyes as she attempted to glance at the object of the commotion, the Chief Mechanic realized that the fish were gone now. Though she wouldn't admit it, what she saw struck fear deep into her heart. Sure, maybe other people had tried to get to the Lost City, but none of them had come back to tell the tale...
M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "SO ALONE AND WONDERING WHY I FEEL THIS WAY"
Traverse Town Mothership:
Noticing the marveled sighs and gasps floating around the bridge area, Mikhail couldn't keep himself from turning back and walking to his previous location. Though he personally wasn't that fond of water (naturally since his own element opposed it), the man had to admit that the sight was rather beautiful and perhaps even soothing. He was unable to keep his laughter in check as the people around him began "oohing" and "ahhing" every time they noticed a new kind of fish. It was quite a hilarious sight, to be frank; he didn't know that they would be that excited.
Still, if this place was going to be surrounded by water, his abilities would turn out to be quite useless. There would be little to no source of fire available for him to use and he knew that creating large amounts of it would tire him rather quickly. The pyromancer would be forced to rely on his skill with a blade and on his amateur umbrakinesis as well. Still, why would there be any fighting in the future? He had heard that this civilization was... well, extinct, and knowing that the world was nothing more than a gigantic orb of water didn't really leave a chance for any survivors. Sure Heartless could always be a problem but this world seem too calm and peaceful for some reason.
A familiar voice suddenly pulled him out of his thoughts. Mikhail turned his head, noticing one of his fellow Guardians, Saxen, standing nearby. The first thing he noticed about the man was probably the cane he held tightly. Had he been injured in battle? But there was no real reason for something like that to have happened. After all, he had been assigned to the Radiant Garden Mothership and was thus out of the major danger.
"Hey Saxen, what happened?" he said, jerking his head at the small cane. Their conversation? Well, to be frank, Mikhail had just pushed his way into this "conversation" before the Twilight Town Mothership was attacked. He knew that their linguist, Milo Thatch, had been really excited to know that someone was interested in Atlantis as a culture and had gone to gather his papers to proceed with his Atlantis 101 lesson. Perhaps calling him once again would make it easier for them to pick up the conversation.
"Alright, just hold on a second..." His eyes wandered off until they finally found the lithe form he was looking for. That guy was sure into writing. "Hey, Milo! Could you come here for a moment?"
Rose glanced back at the commander. Science, but with the hope of profit? A worthwhile venture. Not something that much appealed to her mercantile nature, but oh well. She walked up to a window, and touched he shotgun nervously. It wouldn't be much use this deep underwater, but the feel of the cold steel barrl was reassuring. she held up her computer, and pulled up the pressure sensors she had installed at the weakest points in the ship. "So far, so good," she said, examining each one in turn.
She looked back out the window. She was unimpressed by the fish, having seen far more strange creatures. the water was growing black, and this made her nervous. So much darkness... anything could be hiding out there. She backed away from the window suddenly, getting a bad feeling. When nothing happened after half a minute, she relaxed slightly, and looked at the people around her. Some of them were from the Twilight ship. Like the hispanic woman. She had been the one in charge of that ship, but Rose knew, any one of the ships could have been targeted for destruction. The thing Rose cared more about was the fact that the woman was a mechanic, though Rose didn't know her name. Rose didn't feel sorry for her though. Rose didn't often feel sorry for anyone. It had just been bad luck that had selected her ship, nothing more. Nothing to feel sorry about.
Indeed, Milo was so engrossed in his documentation of the events, he nearly forgot to look up and actually experience them! Granted, he found animal and plant life a little bit less interesting than linguistic or cultural anthropology. Fish didn’t exactly create high and low context cultures and they certainly didn’t write down any of their languages for study and analysis.
Presently he looked up at the sound of his name and spotted Mikhail. He didn’t know much about the man, but he was obviously a good fellow and a capital human being. Anyone who sought to know more about the rich history and culture of Atlantis was obviously someone of intelligence and good character. Being a scholar in such a specific field meant that, at most, Milo might get a few polite nods and a distracted smile when he began to speak on his work. He was used to blank stares and hurried excuses about, “having to go pick up laundry in Singapore in half an hour” or, his personal favorite, “I need to go…alphabetize my spice rack.”
Closing his notebook and adjusting his huge, round glasses he eagerly made his way over, “Sure, what can I do for you?”
Sweetie didn't see anyone come to him for medical assistance but there were still many injured crewmen. Sweetie was about to aid them until he felt the ship breach the planets atmosphere. The planet was basically a giant dome of water.
Sweetie continued to look out the window as the mothership passed through the the endless mass of water. Sweetie smiled for this world was truly beautiful but there was still work to be done.
Sweetie rummaged through his medical pouch before helping out another injured crewman who had a broken arm.
"This will only hurt for a second," Sweetie said before straightening out the bone and then putting two splints on it.
Sweetie then handed the crewman a bottle of liquid, "drink it, it will slow the pain you may or may not be feeling."
(( Next round ends: August 7th. Next post is reserved for Sumdood. ))
Commander Lyle T. Rourke
Back in the control room, Lyle Rourke was not among the many currently awestruck at the world he had been submerged into. Rather, his attentions were focused entirely upon the crew mate before him, who was pointing to a point on a glowing radar screen – a point which was obviously moving very fast and very directly in their direction. The small dot emitted no other clues, but it was enough.
Calmly but efficiently, the Commander began to order his subordinate officers to ready the crew, signal the Traverse mothership, and keep a man on every vantage point to observe the now eerily quiet waters. There was no time to play it safe. The Lost City was almost in their grasp.
No sooner had the final officer strode away when an alarm sounded. He cursed under his breath, as the sound would only elicit panic in the crew; but then his eyes were drawn to the screen beside him, and, frowning deeply, he suddenly understood the reason the shriek of the alarm had been triggered.

Nyra Rei Kaze
Nyra, who had been grinning and feeling quite comfortable as she observed the ocean with the tomboy mechanic, had suddenly gone very quiet. The towering stone core they had entered was not barren, as she had expected. It was a ship graveyard.
Her golden eyes narrowed suddenly, flicking catlike to a spot outside the domed windows where she could have sworn she had seen a shadow, a flicker of movement. . . .
