Name: Valina Merifcy
Nickname: Val, Vally, Lin
Age: 18 (Uhh...If I have to convert that to Vana'diel age--then pretty old.)
Gender: Female
Species: Mithra
Position: Nuetral
Powers: Being a dancer, Val is quite quick, agile, and dexterous. She may look like some girl from the local pub--but her daggers are surely not for show.
Dual Wield: Allows user to equip two weapons at once.
Sambas: Only one can be active at a time and lasts for five posts. It has a recast of three posts after the duration has ended. Target successfully hit with Samba's Daze will receive the corresponding effect for two post. In order to keep the effect on the user must be constantly hitting a target. (Ex: If a post misses there then the next post must hit in order for the effect to stay on. Otherwise the user has until the duration is over to attempt to get it back on.)
Allied party effect will only work if the dancer is successfully hitting the target and keeping daze affect on target. The said allied members must also hit the target within daze time to gain affect and immediately lose it once duration has ended or they have stopped attacking.
- Drain Samba- Inflicts the target you strike with Drain daze, allowing allied party engaged in battle with it to drain its HP.
- Haste Samba- Inflicts the target you strike with Haste daze, increasing the attack speed of allied party engaged in battle with it.
- Aspir Samba- Inflicts the target you strike with Aspir daze, allowing allied party engaged in battle with it to drain its MP.
Waltzes: Are one of the five types of dances available to the Dancer job. When used, a curative/restorative effect is applied to the targeted party member(s). The effects of Waltzes are instant, and can therefore be highly effective for quickly healing a party member in danger before they are K.O.'d. All Waltzes do not have magic casting range, targets must be at least somewhat near the user.
- Curing Waltz- Heals HP to target player.
- Divine Waltz- Heals party members within area of effect. Cannot and will not hit those outside of party or too far away. [Recast: Two post]
- Healing Waltz- Removes one detrimental status effect from target party member. [Recast: Three Post] (Cannot remove Amnesia, Doom, Petrification, Stun, Mute, or Terror.)
Steps: When used, the player attempts to make a physical attack on the targeted enemy with his/her weapon. If the attack successfully lands, no damage is inflicted, but the enemy will receive a Step Daze effect. Step Dazes enfeeble the enemy by lowering one of its attributes. The daze immediately wears off the next time the user posts(a.k.a. the user cannot use these to their advantage--but support others). Only one can be on at a time and only one can be used per post.
- Box Step- Lowers target's defense.
- Quickstep- Lowers target's evasion.
- Stutter Step- Lowers target's magic defense.
- Feather Step- Enhances target's critical hit damage recieved.
Jigs: Jigs are buffs that the dancer can only cast on them self.
- Spectral Jig- Makes user invisible for three post, until hit, or until user hits. [Recast: fifteen posts]
- Chocobo Jig- Increases Movement Speed for five post, until hit, or until user hits. [Recast: Once per thread]
Flourishes: Higher levels of dance that can only be used if the dancer is under the affect of a Samba.
- Violent Flourish- Weakly damages the target that is accompanied by a stun effect. [recast: five post]
- Striking Flourish- Delivers an attack with a hidden attack right after it. [recast: three post]
- Ternary Flourish- Delivers an attack with two hidden attacks right after it. [recast: five post]
Weapon(s):Terpsichore- A trident dagger with a golden hilt that's wrapped in red cloth. Uses it as an off hand dagger as it is designed more for defense in blocking incoming attacks. The three blades that come forth from the hilt are lined with gold in the middle and the center blade is engraved with the weapon's name.
- This weapon due to it's nature as a trident dagger acts as if slashing or piercing with three small blades at once.(Kind of like your neighbor's cat that doesn't like you too much.)
- Has a higher block/parry rate then normal daggers against larger weapons since the blades are fanned out.
- Pyrrhic Kleos- Delivers a fourfold attack that first attacks from the east, then west, then from above, and finally from below in quick session. [Recast: 10 post]
War Hoop: A medium sized circular bladed boomerang much like a chakram. It is also lined with gold on it's blades through the middle and has two opposing sides that are wrapped where one would old it. The blades are jagged as the weapon can be used as both a boomerang or a back up close combat type of weapon.
Phurba: Her main hand dagger with a simple curve design. The blade is tinted a slight yellow color and the handle is wrapped in black leather. Two jewels are imbedded into the dagger, one at the top on the handle and one on the blade near where the blade is connected to the hilt.
- Slightly enhances waltz abilities to cure more then without it.
- Dancing Edge- Delivers a fivefold attack that is weaker and less accurate then Pyrrhic Kleos. [Recast: 10 post]
Picture:Appearance: Val has short silver hair and matching silver eyes. She's typically seen wearing a black and gold casaque with intricate designs all over. There is a rose with four feathers featured near the back that is held there by a rustic gold looking chain belt. Her gloves are black and fingerless that climb all the way to just under her shoulders and fold down into two layers of ruffles that are held in place by silver rings. On both gloves are two rather large bronze bracelets that shield her wrist and are engraved with swirls and designs.
Both her pants and leggings also share similar designs as the rest of her attire. Her boots are almost knee high and are weaved closed by golden thread that is locked in place by bronze hooks. At the base of her shoes are red ribbon like ruffles that are also held in place by bronze buttons. What also looks to be a rose surrounded by four white feathers sitting on her head is also held in place by a silver and bronze tiara.
Val's basic features aside her silver hair and eyes are a pair of cat ears, a tail, and cat like nose. She does not have whiskers and is not fuzzy on her body, but she does appear slightly tan almost completely matching the color of her ears and tail. Her face has fading markings that are a light lavender color that come down from her forehead and two dashes at each cheek.
Although she is almost always out and about in this outfit she is sometimes seen in a plain black long sleeve sweater and loose cloth pants. Her typical winter wear that is sometimes accompanied by a slightly longer then usual red scarf.
Personality:Val is the quiet type who prefers to listen over talking. She's rather a follower then a leader; although, when she does suggest something and is ignored she gets rather upset or irritated. She's one of few words and when she finds the opportunity she likes to speak poetically. Val is extremely blunt and honest in her nature to both friend and foe alike. Even though she may appear like the harsh and cruel type, she means for the best--especially towards her friends and allies.
Always experimenting with different ingredients she loves to cook and bake. She loves trying the ingredients as well even if they turn out really bitter or really spicy. Val also surprisingly enjoys water, rain, and snow--even if she is a mithra.
Being a dancer Val likes to put a little grace into her step--not to show off--but just because she finds it rather fun. She's a pretty fast runner and is both agile and dextrous. She's usually quick on her hits and dodges. She has decent strength, but isn't powerful. Her strong point is speed and accuracy while offering her defense and strength as an alternative. Val is rather squishy.
Her main talent is dancing--obviously being a dancer--but other then that she is also a quick thinker and learner; she prefers a more tactical approach towards things.
Val has no fear for darkness, not even complete darkness. She actually enjoys the dark and tends to lean towards dark thoughts most of the time; but she keeps herself in check trying to keep from doing what her mind wants her to most of the time. Her biggest fear is being able to do nothing but watch as her friends or innocent are harmed. When this occurs she sometimes speaks or thinks of leaning more into the darkness for power.
Original World: Vana'diel
Current World: Traverse Town
History:Valina Merifcy was born in the Federation of Windurst on the planet of Vana'diel. She was an only child of a mithra mother, Reha Merifcy, and unknown father. Although she has been told by her mother that her father was a hume adventurer she rejected the thought of even having one and never bothered to look.
At an early age she tried to take up study at the Aurastery, the school of magic located in Windurst, but never got the hang of it. She was usually yelled at by her Tarutaru teachers--that is--if they weren't in the middle of panic due to a fire spell gone bad. Seeing as magic wasn't in her blood she refused to study it anymore after almost burning down their home.
No longer knowing what to do with herself she wandered hopelessly around Windurst lazing about at the port watching airships fly in and out from Windurst to Jueno from the local Fisherman's Guild.
It wasn't until weeks later after she quit magic that she found another calling. During the time Windurst had placed first in regional conquest and the celebratory troupe pitched up their tents and preformed in the woods area of the federation. There she saw Cheh Raihah for the first time.
Cheh Raihah was a mithra in the troupe who preformed by juggling knives. All the children came to watch the performers and spend their gil on the troupe's goodies such as cookies. Val on the other hand couldn't help but stare as the daggers gracefully flew through the air with such fluid movement and ease.
As the day darkened and the troupe got ready to close up for the day Val sadly began heading back as well. On her way back she saw a group of female adventures. They were dressed rather beautifully two in red and one in blue, but that's not the only thing that caught her eyes--they all had a pair of daggers hooked to their sides or on their back.
Passing by the group and finally home she discussed the site with her moogle. The two talked and just through their conversation Val became more and more excited about the idea and abilities of Dancers. Behind her mother's back and a promise of secrecy with her moogle she began to practice her dagger skills.
Once she was old enough to take off to her adventure she began her quest and studies as a dancer and passing test given to her by her teacher. After reaching her marks she continued her travels polishing her skills as she went on.
Supporting her friends while holding her own in close combat would be her prime and focus of quickly being able to help those she cared for on the front lines.
It wasn't long until Val finally found a suitable Linkpearl that she could enjoy with her friends. She enjoyed herself tagging along with those who gathered to the events in hunting monsters, traveling through teleporting, warps, or by being engulfed Atomos. Everything began to look up for her as time passed by.
Upon request to team up with a small group of friends to go hunting, Val had headed to Atomos to reach her destination and join her fellow comrades. Although, this time as she traveled through Atomos's warp, she did not find herself in Vana'diel on the other side...
Role Playing Sample: “Alright, I’m heading out now—be a good little moogie and watch the house okay?” Val gave a small smile towards her moogle flying about in the room and waving towards her.
“I’ll do my best master, kupo! Return home soon, kupo!” The moogle waved as Val shut the door behind her heading down the steps and pass the guide stone. Port Jueno used to be a quiet place where only a few people ran about. Typically running to towards Qufim Island or trying to catch an airship. Ever since the Carnivorous Maws started to sprout about due to Atomos spreading people have been rather hectic. Especially the adventurers who wanted to explore the new areas for whatever reason they had.
There was a slight buzzing through Val’s ear and she stopped to adjust her link pearl, “Val here. I thought I heard my name.”
“Yea, it’s me Taz—I was wondering if you were free to help hunt Indrik right now.” The voice answered through the pearl looking device hooked onto her ear.
“Indrik? You mean the unicorn thing in Uleguerand Range?” Val answered as she walked through Port Jueno dodging the crowds and people rushing pass her.
“Yup, that be him! Some others are coming to help too, but the upfront back up couldn’t hurt.” Val paused for a moment almost running into a towering elvaan woman who rushed pass in front of her while chasing a hume man with a scythe.
“Uh..Yea, okay I’ll be there—things are starting to get weird in Port Jueno anyways. It’s like being in a can of sardines around here now.” Val sighed as a laugh came from her friend on the other line. At least he was out of the area and enjoying himself. She headed towards the stairs that lead down to the chocobo stables and auction house only to stop at the top and tap a man on the shoulder.
“Hey Horst, I need a lift to Abyssea Uleguerand Range today~.” She smiled slightly and the man smiled back.
“Ah, well you take care then. I’ll have the preparations ready to go in just a few.” Horst reached into his white cloak before waving his hand from pocket towards the sky. “A pleasant journey for you, good luck.” With that Val vanished out from the noisy streets of Port Jueno. As the buildings around her faded and blurred out of her sight she blinked now seeing herself in the cold snowy field of Xarcbard, before her floated a carnivorous maw.
She adjusted the pearl in her ear once more before speaking, “I’m just outside Taz. I’ll be there in a second once I go through Atomos.”
“Alrighty see ya inside!” The voice answered as Val stepped up towards the maw.
“Time to head inside and freeze my tush off…” Val sighed and shrugged it off as she stepped forward and was engulfed in the light of the maw. The snowy scene around her faded before her eyes as she was teleported out of site…
