In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Commander Lyle T. Rourke
Tlachinolli's Heart
The Commander watched as darkness swallowed his crew. He turned around, brow deeply furrowed, and watched the flames lick high into the air as it swallowed their tents and the supplies left behind. Luckily his men (and women) were all drilled for disasters as simple as fire, and the necessities were salvaged; but the fyreflies unnerved him nonetheless, and he turned back around discontented after he had assured himself no more men were racing towards the gaping exit. Once all were safely through, Rourke followed.
"Vinny!" he shouted after stepping into the shadow.
An accented voice answered from a few carts ahead. "Don't worry sir, I got the gunpowder right here. . . road flares. . . uh, I may have left the cherry bombs behind, but," a loud booming sound was heard behind them, "that shouldn't be a problem -"
"Vinny," Rourke interrupted. "The bugs may follow. I want this entrance down, now!"
"Blow the - er, you sure you want it to blow now? Like I said, I just got dynamite here, those were the bombs back there -"
"They're far enough ahead. Get moving, Santorini."
"Okay, boss."
A few minutes and a tremendous explosion later, and the expedition was plunged into darkness. Headlights and flashlights that hadn't been touched yet were flicked on, dimly illuminating the new labyrinth they had ventured into. No turning back now.
Rourke could only hope that they didn't get lost.

Nyra Rei Kaze
Tlachinolli's Heart
They were lost.
They'd been traversing the winding, splitting corridors of strange black rock for just over an hour, scraping notches in the walls every few turns to ensure they didn't double back on themselves. And sure enough, just when she thought they had certainly traveled to the heart of Atlantis by now, they found themselves staring at a wall marked with a symbol they had placed almost a half hour ago.
Her feet and back ached; all other means of transportation was reserved for supplies and the injured. The situation didn't feel as desperate as some of the ones they'd been caught in previously, but this felt more hopeless. The Commander was having a rough time keeping up moral. The light chatter and relieved laughter that had started their trek after fleeing the fyreflies had died down to near silence, apart from the stomp of boots and the soft screech of wheels.
Nyra started. Something had flickered in the corner of her eye. She turned sharply, peering into the darkness of the slim alley she had mistaken to be a crack in the wall before. Had she been imagining something?
"Over there," she murmured to the person nearest her. "Did you see that?"

Libikharod Akesh
Tlachinolli's Heart
Tremors surged through the soles of his feet. Then, suddenly, the great Tlachinolli was still. The young boy's eyes flew open in alarm.
He was resting by a docile lava pool, watching the patterns of light illuminate the cave. The small cavern was almost uncomfortably warm. Further down the river shemubin (baby lava whales) frolicked in their haven, their eyes glowing dark black as they leapt and splashed. Their mother would be too big to fit in this tributary; Karod reckoned she was searching for them elsewhere in the depths of the volcano.
They fled when they felt the explosion elsewhere in Tlachinolli’s body. He leapt up too, weighing little more on ground than they did in the lava. He scampered through the twisting passageways – he knew the trails by heart, and he continued swiftly even when darkness closed over him. After a few moments he heard voices and more vibrations.
Unnatural white light flooded the passageway before him. Karod froze in fear, eyes bulging. After a moment his body loosened enough for him to creep forward, peering around the lava stone at the congregation of strange people tramping through the volcano’s heart. They were not Atlantean. They were not anything he had ever seen before.
Libikharod spun around and ran.

(should I move this thread to the volacanoe sub-board or is it here because they're gonna move from one board to another?)
Gathering the belongings she had that didn't smothered, Helga hulled them over her back as another tent engulfed in flames; where she stood, she knew it would be useless to use firearms against the pests. The team sought out refuge and continued their expedition in the caverns of ...who knew where.
She hardly groaned with the long walk as the conditions here was far more better than the bitter cold of the Artic where they found the Sheperd's Journal. Speaking of the jounral, where was the little nerd who had it; sure she had her chances with the book in regards to direction, but her memory was fixiated on one important detail that only very few new about. With her flashlight as her only guide she whipped around not seeing a brunette with glasses to big for his face, but she did spotted the white-haired lead of this expedition.
Jogging forward, she caught up with her commander, "So where's the kid with that book? He can be of real use if that thing have directions. This may not be the artic, but I rather not wandering here forever Sir."
Kidagakash gave out her instructions to the hunters she walked with towards Tlachinolli; her bear feet were damp with mud and with grass sticking to it as they complete treading through the swamps, which based at a rocky loft that lead to the volacanoes. Her indigo skirt was damp with grass stains here and there rendering her as the definition of a wilderness child. Her white hair was nearly as unruly as the others, but they all had an exotice appeal with dusky skin, bright blue runes on their bodies, and snow white hair, while all carrying their own primitive weaponry.
They were to hastely meet up with the scouts and be on alarm for any black fiend, who might migrate towards the city. These unknown hostile foreigners were the start of the rangers usual outings; before they hardly had anything to be alarmed of except the animals, which they had co-existed for millenias. The problem with these were that...they were new, and they had no idea how to get rid of them. Luckily their numbers weren't large, but the Atlantean warrioress wasn't going to let that fly by her watch.
Key signs of these fiends were any abnormalities amongst the nature of Atlantis; if they were to find any infected bretheren, the animals, they would be on the right track. These fiends had disrupted the unstable balance of Atlantis, since now even the native creature of Atlantis were becoming more anxious and defensive. For their own precaution they would be on the look out, but disturb nothing. Kida would rather stay on the good side of a crystalbug.
Nodding at the Head of the Rangers, the remaining scouts and hunters alongside Kida ran stealthly into haven of volcanoes walking and leap from rock to rock and cliff to cliff.
((yay the next part is up)) Dr. Sweet wiped a bead of sweat off of his head once he was finally in a safe location. He checked through his medical bag to see what supplies he had left, which he had a few medical supplies left if anyone were injured. He heard an explosion which he knew had to have been Vinny. Who else would carry explosives with them here.
As darkness fell Dr. Sweet took out and turned on his flashlight. He walked over into the the group of explorers. He turned when he heard a girl next to him (Nyra) murmur something.
"Hm see what?" he said flashing his flashlight over to the area. The light flashed onto the rugged cave walls, "It was probably just the darkness."
Dr. Sweet turned his light away from the wall now. "You hurt by the way?" he asked the girl turning towards her. "I have some medical supplies left if you have a cut or two you need patched up."

M I K H A I L R U T H E R F O R D "CAN LOVE REMEMBER HOW TO GET ME HOME TO YOU, SOMEDAY"
Tlachinolli's Heart
Clutching his flashlight tightly, Mikhail began to realize that he didn't have much patience left. He and the rest of the team had been roaming aimlessly for almost half an hour and they hadn't managed to make any progress in moving on to the Lost City. He, like most of the crew, couldn't help but wonder if there was actually an exit around there. Fortunately the temperature in the caverns was bearable (and delightfully warm, probably the only good thing that place could offer).
By the time they had walked in circles for at least the fifth time, the silence was broken by a low whisper. It was a single mutter, one that he probably wouldn't have listened to if he hadn't been standing beside its source. Mikhail's eyes narrowed as the doctor illuminated the wall, managing to notice the small passageway hidden in it.
"I say we go and take a look." he suddenly spoke, keeping his tone down. No one would notice three people suddenly disappearing and, besides, they would be back for the rest of the group if they had in fact found the exit. "It would at least interrupt this seemingly endless routine."
Taking a look around to make sure none of the high ranked officers were watching, Rutherford quickly approached the small opening in the wall, sliding through it while hoping the other two would follow.
A U D R E Y R A M I R E Z "HACER LIMPIEZA AL ARMARIO, BORRAR RENCORES DE ANTAÑO"
Tlachinolli's Heart
This was getting annoying.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she glanced ahead, her hand continuously pressing the truck's horn in an attempt to quicken the team's pace. So, they were lost, lost in the darkness of this unknown world. As cozy as those caverns could be, Audrey didn't fancy the idea of staying there much longer. Hell, if they had to dig through the walls she would be more than glad to let Mole do it, as well as attempt to ignore his orgasmic remarks regarding the seven wonders of the dirt.
I wonder what Rourke has in mind... Well, it was actually more among the "I wonder if Rourke even has a plan to get us out of here" lines. However, Ramirez had to admit that the commander had been doing a pretty good job in keeping the morale up so far; of course, that was before they started to realize that they were going in circles.
"Hey Milo," she began, raising her head to make sure she wasn't about to run over anyone. "What do you know about this place? I seriously wouldn't like to stay here forever... maybe there's something in that book of yours?" Her thick accent was rather noticeable, but at least she had managed to get people to understand her. However, as she turned her head to face the linguist, the mechanic realized that he was not there.
She stopped the vehicle.
"Milo? Milo?!" Audrey called, ignoring the angry grunts and moans from the people stuck behind her.
K E R O K I Y I S H A Y U T S I N "NO ONE'S GONNA TAKE ME ALIVE, TIME HAS COME TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT"
Tlachinolli's Heart
He could already tell something was amiss; along with the usual warmth that Tlachinolli had always shared with the Atlanteans, a peculiar feeling of danger suddenly began to fill the area. The atmosphere was strange, tense, yet he found it somewhat familiar due to recent events.
Though most people weren't willing to admit it, Kero was quite aware of Atlantis's gradual corruption and the fact that it had all begun with the arrival of those little black fiends. No one knew anything about them, except that they were hostile and quite capable of upsetting the environment; the forests, the swamps, and now even the volcano were receiving a harsh blow, and it would all eventually affect the Atlanteans... and it certainly would not be pretty.
If all of this had happened in less than a haramak, who knew what would occur if they didn't eradicate this "plague" soon.
After Princess Kidagakash finished giving out instructions, the hunter immediately darted off, his bare feet kissing the ground as he jumped from rock to rock. Kero couldn't help but to feel a little uncomfortable with such high temperatures (his area of expertise was the forest, after all), but he decided not to utter a single complain. He clutched his weapon, Tonenlitak, tightly, ready to use it to fight if necessary and, more importantly, to keep the Head Ranger safe.
After a few minutes of running and leaping around, no disturbances were noticed; strange, he could have sworn he had felt something before...
Thud!
Before he could move out of the way, Kerokiyish collided with a smaller figure; they seemed to be fleeing from the volcano for some reason. It wasn't long before the hunter managed to recognize the young scout before him.
Kero removed his tribal mask, exposing his face. The hunter eyed the boy with both concern and curiosity; he wondered about the youth's intentions and, more importantly, why he had been running toward the city.

On her toes, she splashed in her last puddle of the swamps on unto the hard dusty rocks of the volcanic caverns. Her feet were wiped off of majority of the mud she collected; she didn't want to leave any trails if these fiends were exceptionally bright enough to understand their significance. With her halberd in hand, she swiftly utilized it's end to propel her forwards between large gaps between rocks before commencing her light sprint. She nearly halted at an opening of the earth, but she used her halberd to jump over it before hot steam hissed out threatening to burn anyone who trespasses.
She had already collected a layer of sweat from the swamps, but Tlachinolli was like an oven. Her movements became more simple to do with her sleekness. Kidagakash was moving swiftly behind Kerokiyish, but once hearing a thump impacted him she side stepped over before he can impact her.
Her halbered was up ready to strike, but ceased once seeing the glows of his crystal, snow white hair, and two tribal marks against his shock strickened eyes. Her tribal mask was still one as it's eyes glared at Kero before a harsh question was asked,
Her focus returned to other and finally identified him as Libikharod. She was going to interrogate him next of what was up. She didn't need this instability on a high ranked mission that went hand-in-hand with the protection of Atlantis. Panicking only led to chaos, so Kida made sure she kept a dignified cool head. With that she held back her bite and bark and shook her head, which caused the hairs on the mask to sway. Her mouth opened, but something caught her ear.
She orded them to follow and watch her back as she investigated onwards. Something was north of them. For a better hiding and yet sealth position, Kida climbed up the rocks for higher grounds. The overall caverns had a red glow about them, but not too far was a brighter light leading towards another cavern. The light was natural as it swayed and moved with movement. Her hand waved gesturing for the two with her to come closer and instructed the rest nearby to spread out. He was talking to others; there were more than one of them.
Saxen mostly stayed close to Mikhail, and, when he heard the explosions, he flinched. Both times. When it went dark, he lit a small flame in his hand. It was just enough to let him see his feet, really. Although, when Mikhail lit up his flashlight, he let his little flame dissipate, though he kept blowing puffs of flame out of his mouth, out of boredom. The temperature was nice, but a little extra heat was always welcome to the soldier. After being lost for a while, he heard some whispers. Mikhail suggested checking it out. It definitely sounded good to Saxen. He followed Mikhail through and was starting to feel some of his strength return. Hopefully, he wouldn't have any issues with sudden loss of. . . well. . . everything.
[[Please tell me if I screwed something up, which I likely did...XD]]
The echoing sounds of distant unearthly bells heralded Kuu's arrival as a streak of light bounced around from place to place before landing in a flurry of sparks among the rocks. Kuu shook out the remaining stars from his eyes - it was going to take a little getting used to this whole steering concept with the Star Shard. In any case, it looked like he was here - he'd only been this far outside the city borders once, but the strange rock formations and familiar coolness of the air about him was impossible to miss. He was back.
First things first. Kuu fiddled about with his chain, and unhooked his crystal from it. He untied the leather thong which he'd braided into the chain and placed it over his neck. Now he had some kind of proof that he was connected to Atlantis. With his silver hair, he hoped that it would be enough to prevent him from being killed by the local rangers making their rounds. Now to add the finishing touches.
Kuu undid his sleeveless top and the buttons on his shirt. He pulled his right arm out of his sleeve and tied it to his belt, and allowed his outer vest to fall to his waist, so that his right arm, shoulder and right side of his chest were exposed, in a more similar sense of dress to the Atlanteans. He didn't have time to reapply his old tattoos (and he'd look ridiculous with his childhood patterns anyway, he'd never had the chance to get the adult designs) but hopefully this would be enough.
The almost inaudible sounds of veteran feet maneuvering the crags came closer. Right on time.
Kuu was on a high rocky overhang, and he saw the blue lights heading his way in large leaping arcs - the telltale signs of the graceful movements of the Atlantean hunters. He timed his leap to fall right in the middle of their formation, and immediately got to his feet with his hands high and palms facing upwards as he greeted them in Atlantean:
'Degim, wertes-osentop Adlantisag - anik kagin Kio esetot, gabreh gesue won esekik...'
Greetings, guardians of Atlantis - my name is Kio, I am here to help you.
He then stopped, as he noticed the slender arms and legs of the leader behind the mask - and there were very few women he knew who led hunting groups this far beyond the borders of the city.
Kuu's eyes widened, as he ventured tentatively, 'Magih... Kidagakash?'

The sound of his own heavy breathing was the first thing that echoed in Milo’s ears as his senses began the gradual return to consciousness. He hadn’t been knocked unconscious before – well, maybe once, in first grade, when he’d been pushed into a door handle during the dinner rush, and possibly even twice when he’d been used as target practice for the football team at Buford Beaumont High... on second thought, maybe he had suffered a few knock outs in his time.
While reminiscing on past days, Milo felt the discomfort of something rough and uneven between his shoulder blades, and without thinking, he shifted his body to try to ease his body into a more comfortable position, when a sharp pain lanced across his chest, and bulled his mind into full awareness. Opening his eyes, he thought that he had somehow forgotten how to see (of course, that was ridiculous, but they had seen some crazy stuff so far) then his eyes got used to the darkness and he could dimly make out the rocky terrain surrounding him. As he tried to shuffle into a more straight-backed position, the painful sensation on his chest area struck again and he let out a small cry of pain, his hand reflexively reaching up to press against it.
‘Ow...’
The sound of his own voice brought the rest of reality back to him. There had been a crash, some deal with some fireflies of some sort – except they had been literal fireflies, actual burning columns of fiery death. He wondered what they were called in Atlantean – ‘bringer of fiery and certain death’ seemed about right, but somehow, he doubted it.
In the darkness, there was a brief flash of blue, so quick that he would usually have missed it, but when everything else was completely black, the light – as momentary as it had been – was impossible to miss. Suddenly, Milo’s imagination brought his fear into life in an innumerable ways as his mind began reflexively calculating the worst possible things it could have been – not a helpful exercise in keeping his composure in such a situation.
What if it’s some kind of amphibious angler? Like, something that can produce that light – being this deep underground and relatively close to water, it might be possible. How about size? Would it be larger than most anglers? It must be that light was too bright for it to be normal size. Oh Lord, I’m about to be finished by an uncatalogued killer fish with legs! I’m sorry, Fluffy – looks like Daddy’s not going to make it back in one piece... there’s a whole crew of able-bodied prey, why am I in this situation when I’m just a linguist?!
A line deepened in the Commander's brow as they continued their journey into the heart of the unknown world. When they encountered the old symbol, voiding the last hour of their progress, he curse through his teeth. It was a struggle to maintain composure, but he managed; the crew needed their leader strong, or else all would fall apart.
Helga had caught up to him. As she spoke, Rourke found himself mentally agreeing with her sentiments.
"Understandable." Then he frowned. "Hm. Now that you mention it, I haven't seen the kid for a while. He likely found an interesting rock or something and stopped to log it."
He wouldn't have particularly cared, had this expedition not entirely depended on Milo Thatch. In the distance he heard the mechanic shouting his name, too, and knew she must have also realized he was missing; he halted, most of the progression crawling to a stop behind him.
Rourke threaded his way through the crowd at a brisk stride and found the Latina woman. "Ramirez. When was the last time you spotted him?"

Nyra Rei Kaze
Tlachinolli's Heart
Nyra peered through the crack as the Doctor's flashlight illuminated the stone. Her eyes narrowed.
"Yeah. . . must have been imagining things," she replied slowly, though unbelieving of her own words. She shook her head to refocus as the Doctor asked her another question, this time regarding her own welfare. "Um. I think I'm fine. Unless you can heal exhaustion and aching feet."
But someone else had heard her speak up, a young man she didn't recognize. "I say we go take a look," he murmured.
Nyra's eyes flicked to Dr. Sweet for a moment - she knew he was part of the original crew, and may not approve of them wandering off. But then she shrugged to herself; she would go anyway. Anything to break the monotony would be fine with her. With a nod she followed her new acquaintance into the small crack.

Libikharod Akesh
Tlachinolli's Heart
Karod's race through the winding alleyways of stone was breathless and fast. Soon he was sleek with sweat. Many times he slipped into areas inaccessible to anyone of greater substance than his tiny frame, halving the time to his destination. At one point he leapt from a ledge to one across a cavernous gap, his lightweight body suspended in air for a moment before landing lightly on the other side. Many times he found himself on all fours. And so he scampered through the furnace that was his home.
Then he rammed into someone moving just as fast and light. Reeling backwards, Karod found himself staring up at Kerokiyish, an Atlantean ranger more tall and imposing than himself. He skittered back a few steps, silent apart from his quickened breathing. His breath hitched as the princess herself stepped from behind the male, her halberd raised threateningly. Then the words tumbled out in a rush.
In one breath of convoluted explanation, Karod managed to convey the group of strange non-Atlanteans he had seen traipsing through the caverns, and the trouble he and the shemubin had felt in one of the adjourning caves. Before he could finish they heard sounds from behind the great walls of Tlachinolli.
The scout party prepared to take off. Karod moved to go with them, his muscles bunched and ready to run, but then halted again.
He took off like a sparrow in the opposite direction. He would warn the Emperor and the others of the Lost City of the threat.

Dr. Sweet noticed the girl an some boy leaving into the dark. "Wait," he called out, "Don't leave the group you may get hurt."
The girl and the new boy entered a small crack. Dr. Sweet shook his head. At least there were two of them to watch out for each other. He contemplated following the two, but he reminded himself at least they had each other as partners. He looked around to see who else was here.
Dr. Sweet noticed almost everyone present except for Milo. He walked over to Commander Rourke and Audrie. "Any of you see Milo?" he ask still looking round for the frail man.
Where could have the kid gone now. He was the only one that could lead the crew to Atlantis, and now he is missing.
She couldn't see the figures well, and before she could get a closer look someone had lept before them. This was generally uncalled for and a norm, so defensively she held at her halberd towards the neck before hearing familiar words. He spoke their language, but his face wasn't instantly familiar. Living so long, she can say that she knew everyone, but the princess hesitated from military action once he uttered her name.
He knew her.
Pulling her mask off, she revealed her skeptical face as her eyes narrowed at him; if he knew her, then she knew him...or she should've.
, she instructed on a few rangers to continue on with her to stalk the unfamiliar voices that haunted the walls of Tlachinolli.
Her attention then turned on the peculiar stranger who somewhat reflected them despite his pale skin. Her accent was thick with her interrogation of his identity and knowledge of Atlantis including herself.
Meanwhile the rangers snuck behind rocks to not be seen by the youths who decided to venture deeper in the volcanoe's caverns. The furs on their masks rustled with their speed to avoid being spotted, but one ranger stopped once noticing something peculiar, someone...peculiar. Like a wooly gator, it crept low, while swimming closer to its prey. [/blockquote]

(GAAAH FAWK I DID IT AGAAAIN -3- dear you have the right to punt me == *totally read it the first time it was up, but not when I rushed the post to get this thread moving* I'M ASHAAAAAAAAMED)
((Haha, no worries, it's fine. Though if we were to get the thread moving, maybe you could take control of one of the NPCs in your party and have them point out Milo - that way you could encounter Kuu and move towards Milo in one fell post? ^^))
Kio couldn't believe it. This was the princess! The last time he'd seen her was when she'd come down to visit the docks where he and his foster father had been fishing (or at least, as close as one could get to it when the fish in question were about two or three times his size). He had probably better explain pretty darn sharpish if he was going to finish this conversation not skewered on the end of her halberd.
'I do not know if you remember me, Princess, but I came to Atlantis many years ago when I was but a child in a flash of light - I lived with the hunter Hadesh for two years before being called from this world by forces not of my own control.'
He wondered how many more times he'd have to retell this story - now that he had control over his Star Shard, he guessed that he would be visiting many of the worlds he had inhabited in his past lives. It was a complicated tale, and he wasn't here to tell stories, he was here to warn them. There was something riding on the back of the incoming expedition, something which could do irreparable damage to Atlantis' already fragile state of ruin.
'My name is Kio,' he repeated. 'There will be time to tell you more about how I came to leave and how I came to return. Right now, there is a greater reason for my coming here -'
'Agh!'
Kio started, and turned his head about at the direction from whence it came - there was a blue light, indicating that there was already a ranger there. Perhaps someone was hurt - or if it was a stranger, then it may be a better idea to stay out of sight. He would, after all, look very Atlantean to a foreign eye, and he had no hunting mask to cover his face.
'Perhaps this is indeed a story meant for another time,' he said. 'If I may, I will go ahead of you to the bridge to the city - I will wait for you there, and you may ask what you will of me then.'
With that, Kio bowed quickly and leapt into the cliffs beyond, tracing a route becoming ever more familiar as he headed towards the bridge - the only pathway into the lost city of Atlantis.
m i l o
'Agh!'
Milo cried out in pain as he tried to shuffle his way further back - away from the crazy glowing blue mask with legs that was approaching him, with a quite unhelpfully hostile-looking spear directed rather pointedly at his face. Usually, he would be noting at how the curved nature of the weapon made it ideal for hooking onto crags and possibly fishes, although with the size of the hook in question probably meant that the fish was about the breath of a fully grown man - but of course, that was more applicable when he was decidedly not facing mortal peril at the end of it, which inevitably led his contemplation into how unpleasant it would be to have his innards hooked out by that equally unpleasant-looking polearm.
For all his expertise in languages, any sense of communication fled from his head as he was left with the monosyllabic sounds of fear and pain, mostly consisting of 'Agh' and 'Ugh', and the numerous variations on such.
'Wait, wait, p-please, I'm a - I don't mean any harm, so c-could you j-just hold - ow!'
He winced as the wound on his chest sent another sharp sear of pain through his body, and his elbow gave way, leaving his body half-slumped against a boulder. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
For Pete's sake guys, where in the world ARE you?! he cried mentally to the crew who had so cruelly abandoned him in his time of need.
