In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

The day was... soft. The sun's heat was mild, cooled by the gentle winds flowing through Radiant Garden. Perhaps it was the chill of Autumn finally reaching them after so long. It was time for the greens of the Garden to turn gold, and the city would look like Twilight Town for a few months. Eventually, the city would freeze, the maw around it reflecting blue through the entire city...
But for now, the young Nobody would enjoy the wonderful afternoon.
She kicked her feet as she sat on the parapet overlooking the small Market next to the Synthesis Shop. The courtyard was empty for most except for a few people, people she'd never seen before. She wondered what she could do in this town. If she would find Sora here. The pale girl wondered a lot of things as she chewed on a Sea-Salt ice cream bar. A small rectangular object peeked out of her other fist.
Winner... It was a gift from a friend she hadn't let go of yet.
The shop area of Radiant Garden was rather busy today, a fact that bugged Maya, with the immense amount of humes around, bumping into her and making her squeak occasionally in surprise. She had a bag of loot in her hands, yet again from the castle in the distance, and she had met a certain hume who would accept the stolen loot, and paid her a very hefty price. Though she had been stealing the loot, she had never been told about doing otherwise. Heck, the word wasn't even in her vocabulary, thanks to the lack of morals taught to her in Ivalice.
As she made the exchange with her hume contact, a strange scent filled her nose...similar to another she had scented before, but different at the same time. Taking her hefty bag of munny, she turned and ran into the nearest alleyway, trying to see where her best area to jump on the roof was. As soon as she found her it, her powerful legs kicked her onto it, and she overlooked the humes, until she found the source of the strange scent. And, lo and behold, she found it, in the form of a petite blonde hume.
With a raise of her hand, she made the earth of the shopping area tremor a slight bit, enough to scare most the humes off in fear of an earthquake, then drew her staff, sure this "girl" was a new enemy, akin to a Heartless. Well, she was ready just in case.
Namine felt the ground rumble and looked around in horror as the people fled. An earthquake? That didn't seem right...
Maybe it was Namine's slight paranoia after her time with the Nobodies, but she had a feeling that something was wrong with the situation. She pushed herself off the parapet and looked around in curiosity. And what she saw paralyzed her. A dark figure overlooked the courtyard, weapon drawn. Was it a Heartless? Why couldn't she pick up a scent from the figure?
Her sketchbook materialized before her, its pages going wild until it focused on a mosaic of different colors, all of them forming a wild picture that seemed to move beneath her fingers. Her spells... just tracing her finger over one would let her tap into its memories, its abilities. But she didn't want to attack just yet. She wanted to know what was going on and if it could be stopped.
"Who are you?" she called out. "And why are you disrupting this city?"
With a slight bend of her back, Maya jumped from the roof to the street a good distance away from the young-looking girl, expertly landing in her stiletto heels on the cobblestone with hardly a loss of balance. The earth stopped shaking, and her staff was put dismissively at her side as her nose twitched, trying to figure out this mysterious scent that the blonde hume emitted.
"I might ask the same question...your scent is akin to a Heartless, yet not quite the same. You are a misfit, and therefore an abnormality to me. However, if you do not wish for violence, I will not give it. I am Maya, and was merely curious as opposed to violent."
She leaned over, setting her staff on the ground, and stepped back from it, but still felt wary, not sure of the girl was hostile or even dangerous to her well-being.
Namine watched the creature pounce to the ground and flinched. Stiletto heels... That looked painful. Aside from that thought, Namine was relieved as the earth began to settle.
This girl, she wasn't human. That was evident. With control over the earth and the unnatural agility, Namine was guessing she was a creature of nature, perhaps more animal than human. She smelled of the grass and deep forest, but she had a tinge of magic about her. And then the creature spoke.
Misfit... Namine knew the word and frowned. Her eyes met her flowery sandal and she crossed her arms around her sketchbook. How nice... This is what the Organization had done. Xemnas and Ansem had created a disgusting stereotype of all the creatures that rested outside of the Light. "I don't think it's right to read a book by its cover," she said, looking up to the girl. "My name's Namine. I'm not a Heartless... I'm a Nobody."
She said it so easily but couldn't help thinking that she wasn't a Nobody either. She was indeed a misfit, however much the thought hurt. Still... She had a Heart, and that's what mattered.
As the Viera spoke, her heavy vieran accent caused her to mispronounce the girl's name, and her ears flicked in annoyance at her voice. However, she continued, a small smile on her face.
"I know not of what a Nobody might be, but I sense that you mean me no harm. It's just that curious tinge to your scent that is reminiscent to a Heartless...yet different at the same time."
She was actually comparing the scent to that of Ienzo, who had a much different scent then most Heartless, and realized it was stronger darkness. This girl, she had dark powers...but something combated that scent, as if both sides were dueling for supremacy over the girl.
"Once again, I did not intend to offend. I know the feeling of harsh judgment, for some humes on my world have bias against my race, the viera. However..."
Here she paused, closing her claw-less hand and looking down. The memory came rushing in, and a single shudder wracked down her body.
"Sometimes it is your people that will shun you most of all."
Namine smiled. Her eyes shimmered, a comforting luminescent glow, and she opened her sketchbook, moving closer so that her new acquaintance could see.
As she did, she looked to the Nature girl. "My name's Namine," she said. "And I will show you what a Nobody is." On the page, there were three symbols. One was a crown. The other, an odd symbol that resembled a cross and a Heart combined. The last was a Heart contorted by spiky vines. She ran her fingers across them and they each lit up a different color. Her sketchbook shone faintly in the daytime light.
"The Crown... That's you. And all of the other beings that have Hearts. You symbolize purity, a mix of Light and Darkness." The Crown lit gold for a moment, then faded away. Next was the thorn-ridden Heart. "The Heartless... They are beings of Darkness. Nobody knows how they came into existence, but they feed off of the Darkness in peoples' Hearts. The more they eat, the more powerful they become. When a person succumbs to Darkness, they eventually become a Heartless." The Heart lit a dark, fiery black and faded back into the page. The cross stood next. Namine ran her finger across it, remembering everything she had seen in the Organizations. "The last beings... Are Nobodies. When a person with a VERY strong Heart becomes a Heartless, sometimes their body will have the drive to move on even after losing what makes them human." If that made any sense. "They are empty shells with no emotion. They use the memories of emotion to fake and act as though they have them. Their purpose is to feed people to the Heartless in an attempt to gather Hearts and recreate their own." With that, the Nobody insignia flashed silver before fading back into the paper with the rest of the emblems.
"These are the three beings that are fighting right now." Her sketchbook closed, only slightly revealing a mosaic of beautiful colors, pictures of thirteen individuals dressed in black, and of twelve dressed in random assortments. Namine opened it to the front page and showed the scribble to her acquaintance. "And these are our friends. They fight the evils that threaten the Worlds."
A hand lingered out towards the final drawing, almost as if Maya was hoping to reach forward and enter the drawing. However, she caught herself, and lowered her hand, looking at Namine.
"Thank you for that information. Though I must ask...if you are a Nobody, then you don't have emotion? It all seems very odd to me...forgive me if I am rambling."
She looked away for a second, as her memory thought to Coffee. True, the huntress had shown little emotion at first, but eventually she had shown that she had a soft side.
"The way I see it...everybody has emotions, deep inside, that they might not even kniow is there. And these emotions can only emerge when somebody special comes into your life, such as a true friend or even a lover. Then those emotions will coemforth.
Once again, she looked to Namine, her eyes shining a little with tears. But she blinked them off and looked back at the picture, of the three people.
