Name: Rachel Renaitre
Nickname: N/A
Age: 23 (Estimation, as no official age is given. Based on Lock Cole's age of 25)
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Position: Neutral Good
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Phoenix Magicite - Lodged within her chest, Rachel holds the legendary Phoenix Magicite, which is said to be able to raise the dead. This Magicite is what allows Rachel to both perform magic and remain alive.
Magic - Due to the piece of Magicite lodged within her, Rachel is able to perform Magic in alignment with the Magicite's Esper, Phoenix.
White Magic
Curaga (Cool-down: 2 posts) - Restores a large amount of health.
Life (Cool-down: 2 posts) - Revives an incapacitated ally and restores a bit of their health.
Full-Life (Cool-down: 3 posts) - Revives an incapacitated ally and completely restores their health.
Auto-Life (Coold-own: 4 posts) - Will automatically revive an ally when incapacitated and restore a small amount of their health.
Black MagicFire (No Cool-down) - A small, homing missile attack that causes slight damage and has a chance to Ignite the target on contact. Can travel up to 5 meters before burning out.
Fira (Cool-down: 1 post) - A medium-sized, homing missile attack that causes damage and has a chance to Ignite the target on contact. Can travel up to 7 meters before burning out.
Summon: Phoenix - Once per battle, Rachel is able to call upon her Esper Phoenix to assist her. He remains for two posts, and can cast either Holy or Firaga. On leaving, Phoenix performs a wide-area attack that casts Holy, Firaga, and Full-Life around Rachel in a five meter radius (Firaga and Holy on enemies and Full-Life on allies). Because of the fact that Phoenix has been reduced to Magicite, these attacks are less powerful than they would be normally (that being normally powered as opposed to Esper-level powered).
LIMIT BREAK: Les Flammes aux RenaissanceTranslating literally as "The Flames to Rebirth", Rachel allows herself to become wholly infused with the power of her Esper, entering a state akin to Terra Branford's Trance. During this time, her eyes become a cross between cherry red and liquid gold, and her dress becomes completely white with gold for her laces and ribbon.
Whilst in this state, Rachel is capable of dealing great amounts of Holy and Fire Elemental Damage through use of her special spell,
Purgatory, which targets up to three enemies and consumes them in white, holy flames. It can only be cast once during her Limit Break. In addition, she can also use all of her Fire Spells without cool-down, though for Firaga, not waiting results in a penalty of 50% less damage.
It takes her two posts to gather the energy for Phoenix to manifest itself in this manner, and lasts for three posts (including the activation post). This ability can only be used once per thread, or else she runs the risk of shattering her Magicite and dying.
Weapon/Items:Item: Phoenix Pinion Charm - A small charm made from a single feather that looks like it is made out of flames. Though it serves no actual purpose, it is Rachel's only link to her home world.
Picture: Rachel embracing her beloved, Locke Cole.
Appearance:Rachel wears a simple green dress with a back that laces up and a ribbon around her waist. Under this, she wears a beige blouse, and below her dress she wears a white skirt. She also has black stockings and black shoes. Her black hair is almost always pulled back but let down, and her skin is a pale white. She has hazel eyes. If one were to catch sight of her chest while unclothed, the would notice a large scar between her breasts where her Magicite became buried during the fall of her world. She is five feet, two inches tall.
Personality:Rachel is driven by the burning desire she has to reunite with her beloved, Locke Cole. She has not seen him since their world fell to Darkness, even though it was restored after the defeat of Ansem, Seeker of Darkness at the end of Kingdom Hearts. Her greatest fear is that history will repeat itself, and she will die without being able to tell Locke that she loves him. Rachel's hobbies mainly include reading books and hunting for treasure, whenever she can get a lead on some. She mainly hunts treasure in the hope that Locke will be hunting for it too. Her main intellectual pursuits involve the ability to sustain life, without the use of Phoenix, in someone who has been revived from the dead. As a person, Rachel is kind, unselfish, and self-sacrificing, willing to put the safety of others before her own. Rachel is fine working solo or in a small group, and may even be persuaded to work with larger groups if the need arises. She dislikes Heartless and Nobodies, but does not hate them with fanatical zeal like others do-- "They are like death: unpleasant, but natural and sometimes unavoidable."
Original World: Aeolus (AKA World of Balance)
Current World: Radiant Garden
Video Game(s): Final Fantasy VI
History:Rachel was born on August 28, ten years before the events of Birth by Sleep. She grew up in the small wilderness town of Kholingen. There, she grew up with her mother and father, as well as her best friend (and future beloved) Locke Cole. It is during these years of growing with Locke that she developed her interest in reading, as she would often read about old kings and hidden treasures and read the stories to Locke. During the events of Birth by Sleep, Rachel was ten years old. Five years before the events of Kingdom Hearts, she began to become romantically involved with Locke, and began to go with him on his treasure hunting expeditions. One year before the events of Kingdom Hearts, when she was nineteen, she was caught in an attack by the Gestahlian Empire and killed in a tragic crossfire incident. Her last words at that point were "If a man named Locke comes looking for me, please tell him that I love him," and she passed away.
During the events of Kingdom Hearts, Kefka Palazzo moved the statues of the Warring Triad and caused the Apocalypse, changing the World of Balance into the World of Ruin. Just before the end of the events of Kingdom Hearts (approximately around the time Sora was visiting Atlantica), Locke brought the legendary Phoenix magicite to her where she was being kept young and undecayed by magical herbs. Upon using the Magicite, Rachel was revived, but this was also the time when the Heartless consumed the world in Darkness. The resultant fall caused the Magicite to become lodged within her chest, right next to her Heart. During this time, Rachel was twenty years old. Even after the restoration of her world by Sora at the end of Kingdom Hearts, Rachel herself remained suspended between Light and Darkness because of the Magicite within her, which drew her towards the Esper World (located in a pocket dimension separate from our own).
Eventually, even with the worlds resurrected because of Sora's success at sealing the Door to Darkness, her world fell to Darkness once again. Rachel, however, caught as she was in limbo since she was in between worlds at this point, did not fall with it. After Sora defeated the Nobody menace in Kingdom Hearts II, Rachel found herself in Radiant Garden, as her own world still had returned from the Realm of Darkness. On finding out her location, Rachel began her studies in an attempt to keep herself from perishing before returning to see her beloved. She lives in her own house in the Boroughs, afforded to her as a place of study. She is still researching and searching for a way home as of the current events of World Destiny.
Role Playing Sample: Books, books, books... Sometimes, all Rachel could think of was "I wonder how much that one at the market costs?" or "If I could just get a second job, I know I could buy some from the Castle and get some real learning done!" Alas, she did not have two jobs, or the pull to even meet with the people at the castle and ask to purchase some of their books. Rachel was hopelessly ravenous when it came to studying about the properties of death and life and how one might be able to halt the first in the event of a previous cessation of the second. Previous due to her own little... secret.
Rachel gentle touched the minute scar that resembled unfurling wings which lay between her breasts. It was a subtle reminder that she was living on borrowed time. Borrowed time that, she was certain, would eventually run out... Even without worrying about that, she had new things to worry about, such as the Heartless and the Nobodies. Two types of beings hell-bent on capturing Hearts.
"But what could they want with so many?" she asked herself.
"Surely even beings like the Heartless can suffer ill effects from overpopulation."Walking past her desk, she noticed her bouquet of roses was wilted again. She knew it was cheating, kind of, but with a flick of her wrist, the flowers became fresh and crisp, with petals the color of a blazing sunset. She mentally chastised herself for wasting magic on the maintenance of a vase of flowers, but then afforded herself some slack.
"After all, I suppose I should consider it an experiment," she said.
"Last time, they lasted nearly three weeks. I think this time was half that long..."Which meant that each revival using magic lessened the overall life-span that was returned to the subject of the spell. That was useful information, but also somewhat unsettling.
Does that mean that even Phoenix has its limitations on the amount of time it returns?Brushing off the thought, she plucked an old book from the shelf and began reading over it. She'd been surprised to find it at the market, especially in the strange and alien world. It was the same book she'd read to Locke, what felt like eons ago... The story of a man who stole the gems from the crown of an ogre king.
One day Locke... One day, I'll return to you. And then we can talk about everything.Questions/Comments/Suggestions? I hope I did okay with this one...
