Name: Zephyrus Aphiansus al'Thor III
Nickname: Zephy
Age: 32 (late teens in human years)
Gender: Male
Species: Atha'an Miere
Position: Good
Powers: Summon Spear: Zephyrus is capable of summoning, and unsummoning, his spear whenever he wishes (similar to how Sora can summon his keyblade, but of course this isn't a keyblade :X ). This takes little effort and can be done in almost a blink of an eye.
Zephyrus knows a lot of magic as this is the weapon he uses against enemies the most. However, each time he uses magic it saps bit by bit of his energy. Meaning he can get tired if he uses magic too much, but because he is very skilled in it it won't take too quick. With the exception of Cure and Silence, which can both wear him out quickly if used too much.
Because using too much Magic can wear him out, Zephyrus often tries to combine swift spear skills together with his magic. He's obviously very skilled with the spear as well, but the dangers of getting damaged a lot of present.
Fire: He only knows basic fire magick and his attacks with fire are near always the same-shoot out a fireball. For other purposes, he can also simply use it to light a fire. c:
Waterga: Extremely skilled in the use of Water magick, the ways he can manipulate water is near endless. He can summon up a torrent of water from beneath the opponent or send one out at them. Similarly, if he is in water, he can also manipulate the water so as to form like a current to improve his speed.
Thunder: He is capable of shooting out a blast of electricity at the opponent, or summoning one down on them.
Blizzara: Skilled in Blizzard magick, he can freeze water into ice and can manipulate ice in many ways. His common attacks using Blizzara would be sending out multiple spear-like projectiles towards the opponent or having some ice chunks rain down on them.
Silence: A dark Aura surrounds an opponent temporarily and blocks their usage of magic for their next 3 posts. Can only be used once per thread.
Cure: Completely heals only minor wounds such as scratches and bruises and also restores a bit of energy to the target if it isn't Zephyrus himself. For larger wounds, Cure can only at least close up the wound to stop it from getting infected.
Weapon: An Atha'an Miere spear. The actual spearing-part of it is a sharp fang similar to that of a shark. It has fins on the side of it that is tipped with a minor poison as well as a blade on the other side for slashing. However, if used unprofessionally, it can be very easy to hurt yourself which is why only full-trained Atha'an Miere warriors are allowed to wield this spear.
Picture: In Water/Normal FormOn Land/Land FormHalloween Town+Land FormAppearance: Zephyrus has two forms-- His Normal Form and his Land Form. Zephyrus' 'normal' form is basically what most people would call his 'Mer' form. Zephyrus appears like this when he is in water or in the rare cases where his bracer gets broken/the magic is drained from it somehow. Instead of legs, there is a strong green tail, tipped with a darker green fin, that is covered in blue stripes. His ears are fin-like and are coloured similarly to his tail and is also covered in blue stripes. He also has fins very similar to his ears on each of his elbow. Zephyrus' eyes are yellow and slitted, but the most peculiar part would be the sclera, which is black instead of white. His hair is long and blue with green highlights over it and next to each of his eyes are blue markings that are a waved line with a dot above it. He wears a necklace, a sign of royalty for the Atha'an Miere, which appears to be a round blue pendant with two blue and yellow 'spike' like potrusions. He also sports a yellow-golden bracer with runic-like markings on his right arm. His Land Form... Some might call this his 'human' form, but that would be a lie since he isn't exactly 'human' in this form. This form is only ever present on land. Traits that he shares with his normal form while on land would be his odd eyes, fin-like ears and of course his necklace and bracers. His tail is replaced with legs and he is now clothed, if not in an odd fashion. He wears a greenish-blue vest which covers a small black shirt. He has similarly coloured black detached sleeves on each arm which ends with a dark blue streak and a lighter blue diamond-like shape. He has long dark blue pants and lighter blue shoes. He wears a simple brown belt and, due to his poor eyesight while in this form, he wears a pair of simple glasses.
His height/length in his Normal form is 6'9" while his height in his Land form is 6'4".
Personality: Zephyrus is, in a nutshell, intelligent, industrious, sociable and sympathetic. However, he can also be rather impulsive, short-tempered, stubborn and gullible. Thus saying, the odd Prince can be rather unpredictable with so many different aspects to his personality. While he's mostly easy-going, he can get impatient and easily panickable. Though he is known to be quite intelligent, he can get somewhat gullible too, especially when out of combat. This causes many problems for him. While he may be somewhat impulsive, he tries to stay calmer and think when in battle. Sometimes though, he can become ruthlessly vicious and will do whatever he can to harm, or kill, his opponent. Especially if they have bad intentions.
When meeting others, Zephyrus is very sociable. Even more so with those of the opposite gender. He tries to be friendly and get on their good side, but he has a tendancy to also ask a lot of questions sometimes which may annoy some. He can get very flirtatious with some females, even if they threaten to stab him with a dagger if he does it again. Though he's pretty fail at flirting anyway, nearly all the time. To 'bad guys' he can seem outwardly friendly and slightly mocking just for the sake of annoying them. He doesn't take insults very well and his feelings can get hurt rather easily, though he often doesn't take regard to insults that are from 'bad guys'. They insult all the time anyway.
He's adventurous and enjoys exploring new places, so he's quite brave with facing new situations. But if something were to suddenly pop out of nowhere, he could panic and won't think straight.
The poor boy gets drunk very easily and often avoids alcohol as much as possible.
Original World: Ellisande *Custom*
Current World: Traverse Town
History: Zephyrus is the second child of King Ingarus Aphiansus al'Thor II. He had one elder brother, one younger brother and a younger sister. However, born during a great war between the Atha'an Miere, his siblings died as well as his mother and Zephyrus was the only child left of Ingarus. Thus, he was granted next heir to the throne of Carai al' Shan, his Homeland. Despite the death of his mother and siblings, he does not take much of it into mind and remains a happy spirit. He was fairly young when it had happened, so he has little memory of it in the first place. He believed there was no use in whining about something that he barely even remembers.
He was raised well by his father and became quite popular because of his friendly happy-go-lucky attitude and how he cares for others. Though some worry that with such an unpredictable personality that he might not be fit to lead Carai al Shan when he becomes King.
As Prince, he had to undergo training at 12 to become an Atha'an Miere warrior. He found he preferred the use of the spear and he excelled with Black Magicks. However, White Magicks was a problem for him but he had managed to at least learn the basic Cure though he failed at most others. He succeeded his training when he was 28, a total of 16 years. He often partook in hunts, but never actually lead any. Only once did his Homeland get attacked by humans while he was there. Of course, as a warrior, he helped to fend them off.
Once he was sent above surface to observe the humans and whether they were preparing for any more attacks. While he had, at that time, a hood to cover his ears and face, he was found out when he had accidentally tripped over a hyperactive
dog that kept on running around him yapping like a mad thing. Needless to say it didn't end well. When the humans found out he was in fact a Prince, they decided to keep him hostage instead of killing him. He didn't fare well while he was kept hostage and acted more like a wild lion than a royal prince, throwing all kinds of threats and the like at the humans. He was incapable of using his magic due to some kind of contraption the humans had and his spear was useless against the cage he was locked up in. The humans threatened the Atha'an Miere with Zephyrus' death (a painful death) if they do not surrender in the endless war. Hard times, but Zephyrus managed to escape after a month of being encaptured when three more Atha'an Miere, pretending to be human, managed to rescue Zephyrus. Zephyrus was not hated for his mistake though as it is not that rare for Atha'an Miere spies or scouts to be found out on the Surface Land. In fact everyone was glad that the Prince was safe.
After that, there really was no more other major events in his life. It continued rather peacefully if you count out the anxiety of any more attacks from the humans on their Homeland. However, a few years later, something happened that no one would have expected.
One by one, odd creatures starting popping up all over Ellisande. On the Surface Land, majority of those creatures were odd black shadow-like things with glowing yellow eyes. Whilst in the water, majority were blue angler-fish like creatures with an odd heart-like symbol on it's belly. The population of these creatures grew rapidly and other variations of them appeared. Soon both the Atha'an Miere and humans found themselves in deep trouble. They managed to fend these creatures off long enough until the Heart of the world was stolen. The inhabitants found themselves suddenly under a dark world and it was no exception to the Prince Zephyrus. Plummetting into darkness, Zephyrus would soon find out there was much more than just this world.
Role Playing Sample: "Oh god, this is so nerve wracking..." Zephyrus thought to himself, pulling his hood tight over his head as he wandered through a busy town on the Surface Land. His first mission up here, check if the humans were up to anything that has to do with attacking the Atha'an Miere. He looked around nervously while still trying to blend in and act like a normal person. Along the sides of the paved road were what seemed like stalls with humans selling all kinds of items. Clothing, accessories, pets, foods... Must be some kind of marketplace. Zephyrus momentarily looked at a stall that was selling fresh fish. It was so tempting to buy one, but from what he was told humans don't eat their fish without putting it over a flame of some sort. So buying and eating fish just like that would probably have him found out. Besides, his business here was to scout around for anything about any attack that may come next from the humans so the Atha'an Miere would know what to expect. All he needed was some random people talking about something, or for him to catch a glimpse of what may seem like a weapon against the Atha'an Miere that they might be working on. This is not supposed to be a leisure walk. Not that it can be one with the endless fear that you might be found out. Zephyrus wondered how the other Atha'an scouts are able to do these with no problems.
-Yip!- -Yip!- "Agh!" Zephyrus yelled out as this small, brown, furry creature suddenly ran up to him, jumping up and down like some kind of automatic spring. Zephyrus paused for a moment and stared at the creature. "
A... dog..? I think..." He thought, identifying the creature as a dog. He started waving his hand at the dog, gesturing for it to go away. "Uh.. Shoo. Shoo. Go away. Bad dog. No." But the dog kept on barking at him and jumping up and down as if it wanted something from him, or just some attention.
-Bark!- -Yip!Zephyrus sighed, he doubted the dog would go away for a while. He decided he could ignore it and just continued moving. He started walking, carefully, as the dog kept on running around him. He took another step when suddenly the dog leapt in front of him, causing him to trip over the thing. He landed on the ground with a thump.
"God... Damn it." He thought to himself as he rubbed his sore arms. He heard a large number of gasps as the noisy marketplace suddenly seemed dead quiet. He pushed himself back up to his feet and looked at his surroundings. He felt at his head and realized his hood had fell off it.
"...God damn it...
Again." He immediately broke into a run, try to get back to the ocean as quick as he could. People started screaming, "There's an Atha'an Miere!" "Someone! Help!" The alarm in their voices were as if he was actually going on a killing spree
but he wasn't. As he ran, he suddenly found a group of humans, armed with swords, axes and the like charging towards him. "Oh god no...!"
He turned around and quickly ran the other way, but found that there was another group of humans, also armed, running towards him. He soon found himself surrounded, and his ears drooped in defeat. In the background, behind the group of humans, he caught a glimpse of the small brown dog rolling around on the ground as if nothing had happened.
"I hate dogs..." Was his last thought before one of the humans hit him hard over the head with the blunt side of their sword, knocking him out cold.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? ~ What is the Atha'an Miere? ~
Atha'an Miere, commonly translated as 'Sea Folk', are one of the denizens of the ocean. However, Atha'an Miere are not to be mistaken as common Mermen. Distinctive features which bring out the Atha'an Miere from most other species are their fin-like ears, slitted eyes and how their sclera is black instead of white. Atha'an Miere also have fins on each of their arms. They mostly speak in another language known as the 'Old Tongue' (Google 'Wheel of Time'), but many also know how to speak other languages such as English. They can live up to around 170 years, but the oldest Atha'an Miere known was a whopping 192 years old.
Atha'an Miere eye colours range from yellow, green and blue. Natural hair colour would be green, blue and purple, but they can be dyed any colour. Their hair also sports highlights, which can, once again, be any colour. The highlights only appear on their hair when they are at least 10 years of age. Fins and tails can range from any colour except for black, silver or grey and the stripes on their tail and fins also share the same colour rule as the tail and fins. Warriors will have a mark on their face after they have succeeded training. It will stay with them for life, and the pattern varies on the Homeland they come from.
The Atha'an Miere eye. In terms of diets, Atha'an Mieres are Omnivores, but most prefer meat over vegetables (lol seaweed). Fish is basically what they nearly always eat, and they eat it raw. Obviously due to the lack of heat and cooking utensils in the water.
Dotting along the ocean, there are many different 'tribes', you could call them. Some are really big like huge cities, and some are really small, like little villages. Atha'an Miere call these places 'Homeland'. Each Homeland has a symbol to represent itself. Most Homelands have a king or queen, but smaller ones probably wouldn't. Atha'an Miere are rarely at war with each other, they are overall peaceful within their species. However, many Atha'an Miere are trained as warriors, including Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses. This is because war is commonly waged against them by the humans from the Surface Land (above water) in Ellisande due to the humans wanting more of the ocean for themselves. Battling is also like a common hobby among the Atha'an Miere, and tournaments are often held in larger Homelands. Up to date, only two major wars were held within Atha'an Miere themselves.
Atha'an Miere specialize in both magic and close combat. Of course, there are cases where some are particularly good in magic, but not as much with strength, as well as the other way round. Nearly all Atha'an Miere can use magic, even those who had never undergone training. However, all Atha'an Miere have horrible defense in general and don't take hits very well. The Atha'an Miere are able to use whatever weapon they wish to use, whether it be sword, spear, staff or similar. However, they do not have any long ranged shooting weapons such as bows and guns. They have magic for long ranged. When they have completed their training, which takes an average of at least 15 to 20 years starting from a young age, they can choose any one weapon, and are then magically bonded to it so they are capable of summoning that weapon whenever they wish. You cannot change your mind after you choose your weapon, but within training they get practice with many of those weapons so most don't have trouble picking and choosing. Atha'an Warriors are also given a special bracer when they succeed in their training. While wearing it, it enables them to be able to turn into their 'Land' form to roam above land. While they are capable of breathing above water in their normal form, they cannot be separated from water for too long as they can weaken greatly, and then die. Moving about is also obviously a problem in their normal form. These bracers are given to them should they have to fight on land, or similar. These bracers are also given to all family members of royalty, even if they are not a warrior, and are also given to those who have duties to do above the water. They have magical properties, and if the magic is drained from them, is badly damaged or is forcefully removed, the Atha'an Miere wearing them will revert back to their normal form. However, doing that is not an easy task. The bracer is golden, and has runic markings on it. When worn by other races, nothing happens, and it's only a pretty piece of jewelry. The Atha'an Miere bracer. Enables Atha'an Miere to turn into their 'land form' to travel around the surface with ease. Has no known effects on other races.
Differences between Atha'an Miere land form and normal form, would be that the fins on their arms would disappears, the tail would obviously be replaced with legs, and some OFTEN have difficulty with their eyesight, so if that is the case, they get glasses too (or contact lenses). Clothes are summoned with them when they change to Land form, and are unsummoned when reverting back to land form.
All Atha'an Miere within royal families are given a necklace to show that they are, well, royalty. To prevent fake ones from popping up everywhere, professional Atha'an Miere magicians of top ranking are the only ones able to make these properly. Within the gem embedded in the middle, is a symbol of the Homeland said royalty is from, but it's not visible to the naked eye, and a special tool is used to see it. Said tool is most commonly given to guards for inspection should anyone show up with one. Anyone bearing a fake one will be questioned and get into deep trouble. Some prefer not to wear them as necklaces and instead just use it for other purposes or just keep it in their pockets. It's the charm that matters anyway, not the strap that is the necklace.
Symbolizes royalty.
The Atha'an Miere are generally friendly with most other species provided they do not threaten them. Though it's common for most people to mistake Atha'an Miere as those Mermaids as their population is smaller and they generally are not as well known. |
~ What is Ellisande like? ~
Ellisande is a world that has two major races, humans and Atha'an Miere. The humans have rather advanced steam-powered technology, but with so much steam, the air is actually somewhat polluted and grey. You could almost say that the humans of Ellisande are similar to the humans of Earth in the middle ages. The Atha'an Miere live deep in the ocean. Their 'town's you could say are rather unique. Almost similar to houses on land, but these houses require no doors as just holes through the walls works fine. Most of these houses, carved from rocks, look very similar and were never heavily decorated. The first meeting of the Atha'an Miere and the humans would be when fishing with large nets was first invented and fishermen found a man with a fish-bottom in their net. Humans soon started finding out more and more about this race. The Atha'an Miere too starting finding out more about the human race. The two races never got along and Atha'an Miere were known to chase off human ships that tried to fish in their areas, causing many problems in terms of food from the ocean for bay towns. Soon, wars started between the two races.
