Gender: Female
Species: Viera
Position: Neutral Good
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Heightened Senses - As a Viera, Fran is naturally agile and light on her feet. Those ears aren't for show either, her hearing is rather better than humans.
Bow - Fran is very skilled with bows and arrows. She can easily put arrow after arrow into a bullseye.
Skilled Mechanic - Fran has intimate knowledge of dealing with airships, having handled maintaining the Strahl on her own.
Mist - Vieras are exceedingly sensitive to Mist. Should Fran be exposed to too much she will enter a state known as
Mist Frenzy, where her physical strength dramatically increases and attacks anything and everything around her. She is, however, more in control now and unless Mist the size of Rabanastre descends around her without warning, she is capable of avoiding hitting her allies.

Summon"In vainglory they arose, shouting challenges at the Gods. But prevail they did not. Their doom it was to walk the Mist until time’s end. A legend of the Nu Mou."

Fran is capable of summoning Espers. Once, she shared the power of the thirteen Espers - Adrammalech, Belias, Chaos, Cuchulainn, Exodus, Famfrit, Hasmal, Mateus, Shemhazai, Zalera, Zeromus, Ultima and Zodiark - with the rest of her allies, but crossing the boundaries between the world had disturbed and scattered the Espers far and wide. Fran merely possesses one now, but she retains the ability to summon the others should she discover, defeat and acquire them once more.
To summon an Esper, Fran requires all of her energy - she must not have any spells in cooldown. Summong drains all of her magic, so she must wait 15 posts before her magic is restored. Each Esper can be summoned once per thread. Espers last until they are dismissed, killed or 3 posts.
Esper -
Mateus the Corrupt"Scion of darkness ruling and protecting those who live in the underworld, in opposition to Lahabrea the Abyssal Celebrant and scion of light. In the course of his rule, he submitted to avarice, and the darkness took his heart, transforming him until he was both evil and corrupt. Then in his cowardice did he bind a Goddess of the Demesne of Ice, and using her as a living shield, he challenged the gods. Defeated before their might, he fell screaming into the depths of hell, there to be imprisoned for eternity." ~ The Clan Primer Bio
Mateus was an esper that guarded the Sword of Kings in the Stilshrine of Miriam before Fran and her allies rudely relieved him of his duties. Mateus absorbs ice, halves fire elemental damage, immune to water and takes double damage from thunder elemental damage.
His weapon is a large trident enchanted with ice, although he mostly blasts Fran's foes with Flash-Freeze, a stronger version of Blizzard. He also has the ability to cast Cura should Fran fall into difficulties.
If Mateus nears death or his summon time is over, he casts Frostwave, a powerful ice spell where he launches his trident upwards into the sky, raising a tremendously massive stalagmite before him, shattering it to hail Fran's foes with ice.
Weapon/Items: SagittariusThe Sagittarius is a long bow hoisted on Fran's back. It is literally the most valuable thing she possesses (Ungodly amounts of time and gil was spent on this) and seems to radiate heavenly strength. Combined with her deadly precision, this weapon is more than capable of felling mighty monsters.
-Onion Arrows > No, they are not made out of onions. These are plain, simple, normal arrows that don't do much other than putting out an eye or two when shot. It's not very effective against armored enemies, but it is incredibly easy to acquire so Fran uses these in battle a lot.
-Fiery Arrows x 20 > That's more like it. These (Much much rarer arrows as she is no longer on Ivalice) arrows have fire properties within them, allowing them to set things on fire. To craft this, she'd probably require the assistance of a skilled alchemist..
-Artemis Arrows x 5 > Five powerful arrows that contain the earthly power of the Goddess of Hunt herself. These are used extremely sparingly because of their power which could down an adamantitan and their insane valuability.
Picture: FranAppearance: Fran is a Veena Viera - she has light, almost pale skin. Atop her head are two long ears that look like those of a rabbit's - white like her long waist long hair with black tips. Despite her age, she looks rather youthful due to the fact that vieras have a lifespan three times more than a human. Her eyes are a deep red, and she wears a headguard that has holes at the top for her ears and sides for her snow white hair.
Standing at 6' 2", she is slim and looks frail. Her clothing is..somewhat revealing, to say the least. She wears hard but light black armor that leaves her neck, stomach and above her thighs bare. Her right foot is more armored than her left, and her hands end in white claws.
Personality: Enigmatic and mysterious, Fran seemingly keeps to herself most of the time, and may appear slightly distant or aloof to even friends. However, she is merely somewhat silent and thoughtful, not being very talkative but more wise and thoughtful than most. She is definitely more open now then she was before though, her time with Balthier had also given her a sense of humor that creeps up every now and then. She still speaks in the viera tongue of English. Like most vieras, Fran is mostly solitary but doesn't mind company of her friends.
She is not called the Master of Weapons for nothing - she is fairly skilled using everything from daggers to spears, but the Sagittarius is her preferred method of dispatching enemies. Constantly alert even as she sleeps, she never falters in loyalty and trust. Most of the time, her concern and kindness is displayed in a more surreptitious manner. Angered, frustrated or irritated though, she has the amazing ability to glare in the frostiest manner one would ever see, easily intimidating.
Now alone in Radiant Garden, her determined goal is to search for Balthier or someone that she recognizes to aid her - perhaps one of her past allies, notable vieras or humes that she has encountered and to try and stay out of trouble. Try being the main word to focus on. With Balthier, she has acquired a few skills of her own - stealth and the neccessary agility one would need to be a
thief sky pirate.
Original World: Ivalice
Current World: Radiant Garden
Movie/Video Game(s): Final Fantasy XII
History: Little is known about Fran's past and naught will you learn should you ask her, but once, like most vieras, she lived in Eruyt Village in Golmore Jungle with her younger sister - Mjrn - and her older sister - Jote.
Unlike most vieras, she was one of the few who decided to leave the village - an act considered unforgivable - to explore the wide world that was Ivalice. From then on, her connection with the jungle, the Green Word was broken and lost.
It is unknown when exactly she met Balthier, but it was definitely long before she turned fifty. She decided
thievery piracy was her calling and followed him henceforth. Fifty years after she left Eruyt, she and Balthier enter the Royal Palace of Rabanastre and discover Vaan stealing the Goddess's Magicite. Attempting to retrieve it from him, he refuses and flees. Fran, with a hoverbike rescues him from from a clash between two parties. What they didn't expect was for the magicite to drain the hoverbike of all its power, causing them to crash into the Garamsythe Waterways.
As they make their way through the waterways, they run into the Resistance and Amalia - in fact Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca - but after defeating a flaming horse the entire group gets tossed into the Nalbina Dungeons. Fran, using her natural viera senses finds a way out for the group, and they meet Basch fon Ronsenburg who decides to follow them.
They head for Bhujerba to save Penelo, a friend of Vaan's, and kidnap Ashe out of her own volition. They make for the Tomb of Raithwall, crossing the Sandsea to search for another piece of nethicite. They retrieve the Dawn Shard from the Tomb, but are betrayed by Vossler who turns them into the Empire. While they are arrested by Judge Ghis on his airship, Fran is affected by the Mist and knocks out their captors allowing them to escape.
Ghis fitted the Dawn Shard into the airship's engine, malfunctioning the engine after a while and blowing himself and his fleet to pieces.
Fran and the group escape however, and follow Ashe to Jahara and to Mt. Bur-Omisace. However, they had to travel through the Golmore Jungle, and she did not take visitors very well. Barriers prevented them from moving past, and Fran was forced to open the way to Eruyt Village. They find out the Mjrn has gone missing however, and quickly make their way to the Henne Mines where they find her, controlled by Venat, the Occuria.
She accidentally awakens Tiamat of the mines, forcing Fran and the group to subdue the dragon and force Venat out of Mjrn. Returning her sister to the woods, Fran advises her not to leave and receives a item from Jote that allows the group to pass through the barriers as thanks.
Ashe's intention was to destroy the Dawn Shard with the Sword of Kings so the Empire would be stripped of the Shard's power. They had to Draklor Laboratories then Balfonheim Port. Eventually, they tail Cid to the city of Giruvegan, and deep within the city finds out the Occuria have chosen Ashe as the new Dynast King (Queen?) and bestows the Treaty Blade upon her to slice shards of nethicite from the Sun-Cryst. They tell her to destroy Venat and the Empire.
Accompanied by Reddas, they head for the Pharos at Ridorana. Ascending to the very top of the massive tower, they find both the Sun-Cryst and Cid. The mist bothers Fran badly, and she barely could see Cid fall and Ashe and Vaan trying to destroy the Sun-Cryst. However, Reddas interferes and sacrifices himself to destroy the Sun-Cryst.
Full scale war was about to break out on Dalmascan ground, so the group quickly make for the Sky Fortress Bahamut - Vayne's fortress. After a long battle with the almost God who fused with Venat, they overcome him and the Sky Fortress's power blinks out. Balthier and Fran remains behind to attempt to fix the Bahamut, and just manages to avoid crashing the Bahamut into Rabanastre although both were injured. Both were thought dead, but they were in fact alive and well.
Two years later, a strange Mist of sorts took shape. Creatures of darkness rose and started attacking people, and Fran went to meet Balthier, unsure of her actions with these strange, never before seen things. The pair were however ambushed by Heartless, and she found herself unable to shake off the clingy darkness.
With Mateus, she managed to burst energy enough to rid herself of the Heartless. However, she found herself in a completely new place, a place which she had never seen before, a place that was not on Ivalice.
Role Playing Sample: A soft sigh escaped the lips of the graceful viera, as she leaned against a deadened tree of the Salikawood. For reasons unknown to her, Balthier requested that she meet him in the Necrohol of Nabudis. Certainly she minded not, but she definitely had the slightest bit of doubt - with the exception of Mateus, she had passed the other espers to Balthier and Penelo several days ago. Of course her skill was inferior to none of the fiends that wandered about, but years of experience had taught her to be on her guard - for who could tell what new monstrosity the gods would come up with next?
Even better, she was heading towards the Necrohol alone. "Best we be on our way," she murmured, and the Esper in her head rolled his eyes.
Lingering in one place was too long was bound to attract the stronger monsters, and Fran was not in the mood for headhunting creatures that could topple Behemoths. The Salikawood was quiet, silence broken only by her footsteps and the occasional whisper of the wind. It was as though she was after the large Malboro again.
She snorted quietly to herself. Humes. Who named a pet Malboro after a vegetable? Who raised Malboros in the first place? One would have to put up with the constant, retch inducing stench. Fran recalled the words of the hume. Shy. Delicate. That Malboro was as delicate as a Behemoth. Which is, to say, not in the very least.
She headed north, towards the Necrohol. Strange. Where were all the monsters? To see a Wyrdhare or two being devoured by Mantises was quite the norm. However..the place was extremely still. Something was off. Something was very off.
It was as though every single living creature in the wood had died off. Even so, where were all the carcasses? The telltale stain of blood? The viera's eyes narrowed when she felt something stir. The feeling however went as soon as it came, causing her to frown.
She noticed Balthier soon enough and headed to meet him, still rather disturbed about the absence of monsters. "Balthier," she nodded and the man turned to face her, smiling.
"Ah, Fran! I was starting to wonder if you were still alive. I'll cut to the chase, then. You might have noticed a recent drop in monster activity lately.."
"Really? I noticed not," Fran interrupted drily. Balthier had had many experiences with her and her expert senses, and it was almost insulting that he had to point out something as obvious as that.
"None of your nonsense now, Fran. Anyway, there have been
some reports of people disappearing in here lately. Though why those poor souls were even here in the first place is inexplicable.."
Balthier sighed. "Anyway, can you feel anything?"
"Yes. Mist."
"Very funny, Fran."
The viera walked forward, ears twitching slightly. This was..strange. Usually, the Necrohol would be overrun with Baknamies, but..she literally felt nothing here. Except for the Mist, which was making her a little twitchy.
"Nothing lives in this vicinity. Except for us."
This was nothing like she had ever experienced in her life - was the entire Necrohol, like the Salikawood empty? "Should we not talk in a safer place?"
"Safer? If there's really nothing here, I'm sure this place is safe enough." Balthier cast a glance around, walking forward towards her. "This place really needs some remodelling."
"Halt."
The sky pirate stopped moving at once, looking at Fran. "What is it?"
"Something stirs deep in these hollow halls. It.."
Fran's hand reached for Sagittarius. She had never -
never felt this thing before. It was not living - but it was not the dead, either. And..it was
moving.
Quickly.
"What is it, Fran?" Balthier repeated.
"I..know not. Perchance you would like to flee while you still have the opportunity?"
"Nay, my dear lady. I came here looking for the source of this strangeness and I'm not leaving until I have its heart in my pocket."
Fran closed her eyes. "And if it has not one?"
"I can settle for the head."
Fran's eyes shot open and her breath hitched. "It is around us!"
The pair stood with their backs against each other, their breathing clearly heard - so quiet it was.
"I don't see anything, Fran. It's not invisible, is it? That would be terribly inconvenient.."
"If you see nothing, than I am to see something? It - phased through the wall."
"A Reaper?"
Before Fran could reply, her body stiffened and she swiftly pulled the bowstring. "It comes."
She felt the man pulling out Fomalhaut, and she saw what looked like black gathering. A pool of black that grew and grew, as though someone was casting Dark.
"Balthier. You see it?"
"I'm not blind, you know. Yes, the Sagittarius is a fine masterpiece.."
Fran rolled her eyes and she kicked Balthier.
"Ouch. Amiable woman, aren't you? If only you didn't butcher the people that annoyed you so.."
"There, Balthier."
She ignored his comment and pointed at the black that seemed to be taking shape now. It took the shape..of a large ant. Not at all very threatening. Balthier seemed to read her mind and groaned.
"Has the Fury returned to life in the form of this harmless appearing creature? Nevertheless, I think we should start firing away and return peace to nature, hmm?"
Several minutes later, a cloud of dust obscured where the black creature once stood, and Fran lowered her bow. For some reason, she still felt like something was wrong..all around them..?
The dust cleared revealing nothing remained. Balthier smiled and raised the Fomalhaut. "Well! All's well that ends well. Why don't you join me for..that is just absurd."
As the pair turned to leave, they found themselves blocked by dozens of the ant creatures, all twitching and staring at the two with their bright yellow eyes. Before either could do more then raise their weapons, the Heartless struck.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? Bloody..appearance..gah..terribly little, but grr.
