Name: Paragon
Nickname: The Keeper of Balance
Age: Unknown, appears late 20's, early 30's.
Gender: Male
Species: Humanoid
Position: Neutral
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: A skilled warrior, Paragon is capable of using either Light or Dark-based abilities with varying degrees of skill and in combination with his swords. He uses these powers one at a time, and during battle coats himself in a glowing aura to signify him changing powers.
When using
Light powers, Paragon can jump into the air and glide for brief periods. He is capable of erecting barriers around himself and has limited healing powers (Cure). In conjunction with the Soul Purge, Paragon is capable of shooting beams of Light Energy at targets, and can summon pillars of Light Energy around himself as a form of destructive defense.
Paragon displays more offensive techniques when utilizing
Dark energies; he can summon orbs of darkness and have them hone in on and explode around enemies. He is also capable of sending out shockwaves of dark energy around himself, knocking back and stunning enemies. When using Darkness energy alongside the Soul Purge, Paragon fires numerous
Dark Bolts from the tip of his weapon towards enemies, and can raise his blade into the air, surrounding himself in a pillar of dark energy, summoning numerous lower-level Heartless to his aid.
Thanks to the power of Darkness, Paragon can also create Corridors of Darkness to travel to different worlds.
Paragon possesses a Limit Break called "
Shred Reality", which he uses when he has low health. When he activates it, a second Soul Purge blade appears, and he uses both Light and Dark powers at the same time, creating a swirling vortex of destruction around himself. His dual swords extend in length, giving him a greater range with which to attack enemies. Like most Limit Breaks, this only lasts a brief period.
Thanks to his long stay in the Data Core, Paragon has extensive knowledge of the world and can manipulate it with ease; he can use his knowledge to teleport and erect structures within the world, as well as create copies of people and enemies.
WeaknessesWhen launching his dark orbs at enemies, they can be reflected back at Paragon to momentarily stun him. Additionally, when Paragon raises his blade, there is a brief period before the pillar of darkness appears; striking him in this second will cause him to become stunned, and the summoning will be stopped.
Paragon has a reaction command known as “Fire with Fire”, as he closes in to attack; keyblade wielders have a chance to knock his sword into the air, kicking him to the ground in the process. They then jump to grab the Soul Purge and come plummeting down on him, impaling him in the chest with his own weapon. This Reaction Command causes him to instantly switch attack type and does a significant amount of damage to him.
Due to his longer-than-normal stay in the Data Core, Paragon has effectively become an entity of data, and has trouble functioning properly when outside of the world. Ultimately, without some sort of outside assistance, Paragon must return to the Data Core within an hour or so of leaving, lest he suffer great physical injury or even death.
Weapon/Items:Paragon excels in the use of a special type of blade known as the
Soul Purge, an energy blade apparently composed of both Light and Dark energies. As stated before Paragon has displayed the ability channel energy-based attacks through his weapon for increased damage.
During his Limit Break, Paragon summons a second Soul Purge and, imbuing each with light and dark powers, has them fly around him, attacking enemies within a certain radius.
As the Soul Purge is not a Keyblade, it is incapable of release a captured heart and is thus not a permanent solution in battles against Heartless. However, it is known to be exceptionally effective on Nobodies.
Picture:ParagonParagon 2Paragon ZThe Soul PurgeAppearance: Paragon is a tall, slender individual with peach-colored skin and green eyes. Paragon possesses exceptionally long, silver-white hair, kept in a large ponytail that extends to roughly his ankles.
Paragon wears a grey, turtleneck-like one-piece outfit underneath a white vest and elaborate man-skirt. His shoulders appear pointed, and he has white straps around the elbows of his shirt. His man-skirt has a zipper down the middle, and a pocket on the left side. Paragon wears a belt that contains numerous straps for item placement, and this is where he stores his Soul Purge weapon when not in use.
Personality: Paragon is a level-headed, logical individual, but one who prefers to deal with problems head-on rather than find alternative, possible safer, solutions. He operates on a theory that, while things should be considered beforehand, it is still necessary to eliminate problems swiftly.
He has strong convictions in the necessity for balance in the worlds, claiming that, while the Heartless are a threat, they do not need to be eliminated entirely, simply contained. In that same vein, Paragon does not believe that light is needed in excessive amounts, and talks down to those who believe Light is the only solution. Paragon thus believes greatly in natural balance, and does not hesitate to attack those who seek to unbalance the world, be they good or evil. This can lead to conflicts with protagonists (I.E: He wouldn’t accept the existence of the Nobodies, but wouldn’t have allowed Sora to destroy them).
Paragon’s main hobby is reading; he revels in knowledge and is ever-curious. While he does prefer to take care of things in a direct manner, Paragon will seek to learn what he can about an issue, in an attempt to prevent careless mistakes.
Though he usually operates alone, Paragon is not opposed to allying himself with others to achieve goals. When operating in a group, he will take an advanced offensive role, attacking enemies first to prevent allies from receiving damage.
Original World: The Land of Departure
Current World: The Data Core
History:Paragon’s early life is not explained in detail; he has knowledge of both Keyblades and of the Keyblade War, but was unfamiliar with the nature of Kingdom Hearts. At a young age, he displayed some skill with magic and sword-play, and often challenged other children to prove his strength.
At some time prior to the events of Birth By Sleep, Paragon was an ally to Master Eraqus and Xehanort, and was a known friend of Yen Sid, having known the formers since he was young. Although he did not possess a Keyblade, Paragon still practiced swordplay with Eraqus and learned of magic from Yen Sid, wanting to become a useful ally to the Keyblade Masters.
During this time, Paragon began to change his view of the world. Unlike before, where he thought he needed power, he began to think that balance, more than anything, was what he-and the world- needed.
By training alongside Eraqus and Xehanort, Paragon gained great knowledge into the nature of Light and, secretly, the powers of Darkness, he began using both with great proficiency. Later on, Paragon tasked himself with preserving the balance of Light and Darkness in the worlds, just as he had kept that balance within himself, and set off on a journey to other worlds. Using the Corridors of Darkness, Paragon traveled in secret between many worlds.
When he next met Xehanort, Paragon spoke of ‘A creeping darkness’, later revealed to be the Heartless, that he often encountered and battled on his travels. He displayed concern for the current state of the worlds, and asked Xehanort for his opinion about the coming storm. When Xehanort knew of no answers, the two of them travelled to a world known as The Data Core, a place of information and numbers, once rumored to have the answers to any problems. Once there, Xehanort betrayed Paragon and struck him down, claiming he was ‘making a preemptive decision’ in regards to his plans. Xehanort then sealed Paragon deep within The Data Core, preventing him from leaving or warning Eraqus.
For the next decade, Paragon gained a vast amount of knowledge in The Data Core, and over the course of his stay began feeling the effects of the world; he eventually converted into a being of data, becoming a part of the world itself.
During the events of Kingdom Hearts, Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts 2, Paragon was able to detect the sudden influx of Darkness as well as the presence of a new Keyblade Wielder. Lamenting that he would be unable to be of help, Paragon desperately sent out energy from The Data Core, hoping that someone, anyone, would notice him, and come to rescue him.
Something did notice, and a Shadow from beyond the Realm of Light approached The Data Core, sending out swarms of Heartless, intent on devouring the Heart of that world.
Role Playing Sample: “We’ve been over this a thousand times… for a long ten years we have clashed in this endless cycle of destruction and rejuvenation…and yet you still come at me. Do you think I will tire? To you believe I will give in with time? You are sorely mistaken.” Paragon examined the Heartless that had, again, surrounded him. He knew he could not vanquish them, knowing that they just reform after enough time. Still, he couldn’t just roll over and give in.
He held out his hand, the Soul Purge materialized. “If only I knew the secret to wiping you all out of existence permanently…then maybe I could set about to more important tasks.” He cut through a group of them with ease, but did not relent, as more appeared to replace them. He jumped into the air and, using his skill with Data Manipulation, created a ledge alongside the buildings above him.
As he landed, more Heartless appeared, flying, swarming around him. The man swung his blade, creating multiple beams of energy to wipe them out of the sky. “What is it….why do you only appear here, in the center of this world? What is it here that you seek?”
Paragon glanced down to the mob of Shadows below, noting that they largely ignored him and focused more on the central terminal. “What can you see… that eludes me?”
Questions/Comments/Suggestions? Erm…yeah. If his backstory checks out, I’ll need someone else’s help in getting him out of The Data Core, is that ok?
Also, I really had no idea what to do with his personality, and would LOVE suggestions.
