In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

It had been nearly an hour since Miki snuck off the Gummi Ship she had stowed away on. Since then she had walked around Radiant Garden searching for any signs of her older brother Michael. She had heard a rumor that him and his military division had been sent here before their world of Passim was destroyed. Michael was all Miki had of a family now, and she wouldn't stop until she found him.
Unfortunately, Miki was now completely and totally lost. She hadn't been born with a very good sense of direction and now had no idea where she was at. She took a seat on the side of the road with a dejected sigh.
Miki hadn't eaten in nearly a day, and she was now ignoring her growing hunger pains. She couldn't stay seated for long though and soon jumped back up to her feet. Miki needed to find someone and ask for help. She began to glance around looking for someone- anyone- to ask for help.

Apollotin sat on a bench near one of the fountains in Radiant Garden, happily strumming a tune on his lyre. It was a beautiful day in Radiant garden, and though a few cumulus clouds flew above in the sky, the sun still shown bright.
That moning, Apollotin had woken up to the sound of birds at the window. Three little sparrows chirped on the small windowsill, and Paul couldn't help but smile at the small avians; he did truly enjoy the sounds of nature.
After quickly (and quietly) sketching the birds, Paul made his way down to a nearby grocery store (What a great idea; selling all the different kinds of food in one building!), and bought himself a small quart of milk, a loaf of pita bread, grapes, and some cheese for breakfast.
Shortly after, Paul found his favorite bench to sit at (the one he's currently sitting at), and began to enjoy his breakfast. The priest munched on his meal as he watched other pedestrians wander the streets. Eventually, he stopped feasting on his breakfast, and then proceeded to entertain himself (and some others who passed by) with a few songs on his golden lyre.
His attention, however, was shifted to a gir who looked utterly disoreiented; she had short brown hair, greyish blue eyes, and what appeared to be something of a military outfit. Reading the mood, she looked as though she needed help.
He couldn't help but notice, looking at the girl's apparel, that ... well quite frankly, it'd be strange to be approached by a teenager who looked like he just stepped out of a Greek myth (which was somewhat true.) As it had lately, the thought of buying new duds to try and fit in some filled Paul's head...
NO! Not right now! I need to focus on helping her... she looks pretty darn lost. Paul refocused after being lost in thought.
The boy "sheathed" his lyre to his back, picked up the paper sack containing his breakfast (the bread still slightly warm), and strode over to the lost looking brunette.
Grinning slightly to appear friendly, Paul questioned politely , "Excuse me. Do you need some directions, or some help? You look a little lost..."

Miki turned towards the voice. The question was asked by a guy wearing a Greek styled outfit. On his back was a type of instrument. A bright smile lit Miki's face and she nodded, "Hi, I'm Miki! Ive been walking around for like an hour searching everywhere for my brother and trying to find out where I can go and..and..now I'm rambling..."
Miki bowed her head slightly in embarrassment. Finally, someone was offering to help her and she was in the process of scaring him away. She resisted the urge to hit herself in the face.
Miki took a deep breath and calmed herself, "I'm sorry, but have you seen my brother? We have the same eye color and hair color. He's probably hanging around with a group of Passim soldiers."
As she finished describing her brother her stomach growled loudly. She quickly slapped her hand over her stomach as if that would keep the sound trapped.

The girl's face brightened as Apollotin asked if she needed help, and she brightly responded, ""Hi, I'm Miki! I've been walking around for like an hour searching everywhere for my brother and trying to find out where I can go and..and..now I'm rambling..."
Almost laughing at how she realized that, Paul assured Miki, "Don't worry about it; I tend to ramble too. My name's Apollotin, by the way, but please; call me Paul."
Taking in his surroundings around him, Paul thought about what Miki had so far said; Hm... so she's been looking for her brother?...Well, Radiant Garden can be a big city... but I'll see what else she says.
The brunette then took a deep breath, and then continued explaining, "I'm sorry, but have you seen my brother? We have the same eye color and hair color. He's probably hanging around with a group of Passim soldiers."
Paul thought about it for a moment, but then grimaced, and shook his head, "No, I'm sorry... I've yet to see a guy with the same color eyes and hair as you.... and, along with that, I've not seen a squad of soldiers running around Radiant Garden either... and that'd be kinda hard to miss."
Suddenly, the girl's stomach growled rather loudly, and she clutched her stomach, in attempts to try and silence the noise. Laughing, Paul opened his paper bag, and took out the rest of the pita bread to Miki.
"Here; you take this. It was just freshly baked this morning, and it's still warm. I have some cheese, grapes, and milk left over as well... if you're in the mood for those. Perhaps we can discuss finding your brother while you eat." Paul offered.

"No, I'm sorry... I've yet to see a guy with the same color eyes and hair as you.... and, along with that, I've not seen a squad of soldiers running around Radiant Garden either... and that'd be kinda hard to miss."
"Thanks anyways Paul."
Miki frowned. With her luck Michael and his team probably left for a different world, and who knew how many different places there could be? Miki hoped they didn't try and go back to Passim, considering there was literally nothing left. She sighed and forced a smile.
When Paul offered her the food her forced smile quickly became a real one. Miki could feel her mouth water at the sight of all the food. She hoped she wasn't actually drooling. That would literally make her look pathetic.
"Yes please!" Miki grinned and took the food from Paul, "You have no idea how thankful I am."
Miki grabbed a seat on the bench a few feet away and began to eat. She wasn't sure if it was just because she was hungry, but the food he gave her tasted like heaven. After consuming most of the bread she spoke, "I came here because I heard a rumor that him and his division were sent here before...well before my world was destroyed."
Miki frowned a little bit after Paul had mentioned he had not seen her brother or the squadron of soldiers, but for some reason, she let a small smile creep onto her face...
Howevever, that smile quickly grew into a grin of true appreciation when she was offered the food. Grabbing the bag and bread, she exclaimed joyfully, "Yes Please! You have no idea how thankful I am!"
Returning the smile, "I'm glad you like it. I hope it satisfies your appetite... I won't lie, I'm a pretty big eater, so I'm not sure how much was left for you... anyway, let's take a seat and discuss."
The both of them proceeded to do so, and while Miki munched on the leftovers, she explained, "I came here because I heard a rumor that him and his division were sent here before...well before my world was destroyed."
The last sentence snagged Paul, and his eyes bugged, the boy horrified, as he heard the words being uttered, "WHAT?! You're world was destroyed?! How did that happen?!"
What, besides deities, could destroy worlds?! ... The thought severely troubled the youth as he waited for Miki's response.

Paul looked absolutely horrified at what Miki said about her world. She paused for a moment to finish chewing the grape she had thrown into her mouth before answering. "I lived on Passim, and my world...wasn't a happy place. There were always these terrible wars happening. A few days ago someone, I don't even know who, released some sort of bomb I guess it was. My dad didn't explain all the details to me. He helped me sneak onto a nearby Gummi Ship to escape but he wouldn't come with me. As the Gummi Ship took off my world just imploded. Literally."
Miki was wearing a deep frown. She had tried to coax her dad into coming with her. At one point she considered dragging him onto the ship despite his protests, but he was adamant. He didn't want to leave Passim. It was his home, it was where mom lived. Miki shook her head and forced a smile.
"Enough about me and my sob story though. What about you? Have you always lived here?" She popped another grape into her mouth.

My dad didn't explain all the details to me. He helped me sneak onto a nearby Gummi Ship to escape but he wouldn't come with me. As the Gummi Ship took off my world just imploded. Literally." Miki explained.
Paul just looked down while he listened to the tale... It drew horrible feelings into him, and he felt frightened... Was Radiant Garden safe? Surely... the committee was here... but what about Olympus? Was Paul's home safe?... Would this mad bomber come and destroy his world? So many questions!
Empathetically, Paul remarked, "I'm so sorry...I know that, based on your description, it was a war torn world... but it was still your home..."
Miki seemed to be on the same boat, and was lost in thought for a moment. However, she once again looked at Paul, and tried to change the subject; "Enough about me and my sob story though. What about you? Have you always lived here?"
Glad to focus on something else, Paul replied, "Not at all! I've only been in Radiant Garden for a little while..."
The priest recalled all the events that had taken place, and while his new friend popped a grape in her mouth, he continued, with a smile, "I'm orignally from Olympus Colloseum, another world, like yours. There, we live everyday in a Greek myth.... gods, goddesses, monsters heros, new inventions, democracy... basically, if you learned anything about Greece, I'm from there."
Pausing again, Paul decided to share a little bit of what he had learned recently, "Anyway, I lived in my happy little Greek fantasy until I bumped into this guy called Lea. Surprisngly, I let him live, even though he was this thing called a Heartless... "
Sensing a question coming on, Paul put up his hand, and asked, "I'll answer any questions at the end the best I can... now then...."
"Shortly after that, I saw a ship land in a field nearby where live (which I later learned was called a Gummi Ship), and met a new friend; Lasire, the Moogle. He had come from Radiant Garden, and had decided to visit Olympus. Anyway, we got back town, and ran intoa Nemean lion, but together we were victorious."
"Later that day, Lasire explained to me a little bit of the concept of other worlds, and I asked if I could tag along...He said yes, and now, here I am." Paul finished.
A pair of doves flew overhead, and Paul watched as the duo sailed through the air, cooing as they raced along. Turning back to the gir, Paul asked, "Now then.... any questions?"
Post by armybrat213 on Jun 26, 2012 23:00:03 GMT -4
Miki politely held her question in when he got to the part about Heartless. It wasn't that hard though because his story was interesting. Paul's world sounded almost unbelievable. She had loved studying Greece in school and to visit a place just like it seemed almost unheard of.
Her smile had never left her face as he finished his story. Paul's eyes gazed up and she followed his gaze. There were two white birds flying overhead. Miki couldn't name the type. There weren't many animals where she lived in Passim. Most had already been killed or drug away. Seeing those free birds really made Miki feel even more at peace.
"Now then.... any questions?" Paul asked.
Miki nodded, "It's about that part when you were talking about Lea. What's a heartless?"
Post by kokoran714 on Jun 26, 2012 23:28:46 GMT -4
Paul noticed that Miki's smile never left her as he told her his tale, and that made him happy to know she enjoyed listening to him.
After both watched the birds fly overhead, and Paul gave the okay for questions to Miki.
However, she just had one question, "It's about that part when you were talking about Lea. What's a heartless?"
The priest nodded respectably, and then pulled out his sketchbook. He saw he had already made some drawings of them, so he showed a picture of one of the several heartless he had been able to sketch. This one looked much like an imp, had large eyes, antennae, but otherwise, no other facial features. All but it's eyes had been shaded.
Paul then answered, "I'm not going to lie, I don't know much about them either... however, back in Olympus, we had 'em, and I've seen Heartless here as well. From what I can tell, all of them are evil, and attack anything that's not a heartless"
Flipping the page, other species of Heartless had been sketched, all of them different in structure except for the eyes. Apollotin continued to explain, "There are many species of Heartless, as I've figured out. Some of them even look human, like Lea. I'm no sure what causes that sort of thing, but all apparently form the same way; when the darkness in a person's heart overcomes the light, they transform into Heartless.... but there's more..."
Licking his lips, the blonde finished up the lesson on Heartless, "Remember how I said that Heartless attack anything that's not Heartless? Well, personally, I think their trying to attain the one thing; other's hearts. And if you're heart is taken by them... you become a Heartless..."
Such a solemmn note to end on, but that was the truth...
Paul remembered a conversation not too long ago that suggested a remedy for such a thing, but until he actually saw the process, the priest wasn't going to touch on the subject of how to become human again after becoming Heartless.
He patiently awaited any comments Miki had, and simply held the sketch book lest she wanted to look some more at the diagrams.

Miki listened to Paul explain them as she gazed at the sketch of a heartless. She leaned closer to study the picture better. The shadow creatures looked like something from nightmares or some scary movie. These things couldn't possibly exist could they?
"Remember how I said that Heartless attack anything that's not Heartless? Well, personally, I think their trying to attain the one thing; other's hearts. And if you're heart is taken by them... you become a Heartless..."
"Seriously?!" She cried. Miki continued to gaze at the sketch. If it stole your heart you would become one of them? Miki slowly shook her head, "We didn't have these on our planet."
Passim had lot of issues but dealing with heartless was not one of them, and for that Miki was thankful. Except now, according to Paul, wherever she traveled searching for her brother there was the chance she would run into these creatures.
She glanced up from the sketch book to look back at Paul, "Can you fight them? I mean just like you'd fight anything else?"
Post by kokoran714 on Jun 27, 2012 19:01:59 GMT -4
After Paul mentioned Heartless could create other Heartless by stealing another's heart, Miki exclaimed, "Seriously!?"
The priest nodded sollemnly, as Miki the mentioned, "We didn't have these on our planet..."
Paul remarked with a half smile, "That's at least something..."
She gave one last look at the sketchbook, and then, after she seemed satisfied with the pictures, returned her focus to Paul. After he closed up the growing art collection, she questioned, "Can you fight them? I mean just like you'd fight anything else?"
Grinning moreso, Paul assured his friend, "Oh don't worry; you can fight them, as well as... kill them, I guess... they moreso just dissapate but... all in all, that one won't bother you anymore..."
A thought struck him, and he decided to add something to his comment, "As it turns out, Heartless seem to almost appear out of thin air... you rarely can see the ambush coming. But I've often come out on top, even with their element of surprise; my suggestoin? You obviously need to be a strong fighter... but having a strong heart is even more important when fighting heartless..."
The boy then began to wonder... When am I going to find my next hoard of Heartless?... It is rather disturbing to think they could be plotting right now to attack us here, any moment... Hm... I hope Miki's not too terrified...

You obviously need to be a strong fighter... but having a strong heart is even more important when fighting heartless..."
Miki nodded. She wasn't that bad of a fighter, but then again she had never fought heartless creatures before. All her experience came from fighting other humans. Also her gloves usually gave her a nice advantage. The electrically charged shields that would form over her hands from the gloves were mighty useful in a fight. Miki glanced at the normal looking gray gloves on her hands.
She wondered though, 'Is my heart strong enough?'
She'd like to think so, but she probably wouldn't find out if she truly was until put up to the test. The whole element of surprise thing freaked her out too. The fact that these things could pop up anywhere at anytime at all was a bit frightening. How did people live day to day without being completely and totally paranoid?
"Hey Paul", Miki thought aloud. Her idea was probably a very stupid one, but then again she was always a curious soul. "Is there like a heartless hotspot around here? I kinda want to see one...but that's probably a really stupid idea isn't it?"
Post by kokoran714 on Jun 29, 2012 19:39:38 GMT -4
As Paul mentioned that having a strong heart was the key to defeating Heartless, Miki glanced down at her grey gloves on her hands, once again lost in thought.
Paul bit his lip, now truly worried that he had caused his friend to worry. I bet I've really done it now... She seems lost in thought... must be worried that the Heartless are gonna go hunt her down... I better explain a little bit better.
The priest was about to do so, until Miki beat him to a conversation by asking, "Hey Paul, Is there, like, a heartless hotspot around here? I kinda want to see one...but that's probably a really stupid idea isn't it?"
Taken aback by the questoin, Paul thought to himself, Well! That was unexpected.
In all honesty, the priest had been wanting to practice on the beasts all morning, and couldn't help but grin at the concept. He'd been itching, as of late, for a duel with the buggers...
Smiling mischeviously, Paul winked, "Mmm... Not if you're prepared."
Taking in what he had just said, Paul couldn't help but feel a little cocky, having a feeling that taking out Heartless with a friend would be twice as easy... but in the same breath, logic breathed down his neck, warning him not to just charge in recklessly...
Hopping up from the bench where he sat, Paul then turned to the girl, and asked seriously, "Are you prepared? Do you feel ready to face foes of true evil, darkness, and no mercy? ... Because, as I've described, Heartless feel nothing but hatred for those with hearts, and lust for their hearts. . . "
Pausing, Paul gazed up at the sun, just for a moment, and took in all the sun stood for; longevity, healing, warmth, power... light.
Turning back to her once again, Paul spoke words that he was surprised to find himself saying, the message quite deep, "But there will always be light to banish the darkness. . . Morning dawn to cause shadows to flee . . . The bright sun to overcome the night..."

"Are you prepared? Do you feel ready to face foes of true evil, darkness, and no mercy? ... Because, as I've described, Heartless feel nothing but hatred for those with hearts, and lust for their hearts. . . "
'Am I?' Miki thought. Maybe this was exactly what she needed at the moment, other than money, a place to stay, and her brother. Sparring with her father and friends was always a way for Miki to burn off her anger, grief, and frustration. Fighting the heartless would be just like a sparring exercise. The only difference being that this would be life-threatening.
"But there will always be light to banish the darkness. . . Morning dawn to cause shadows to flee . . . The bright sun to overcome the night..."
Miki stood up and readjusted her gloves. She gave Paul a grin, "Show me the way. Those heartless aren't going to destroy themselves right?"
There was a nagging voice in the back of her mind telling her not to jump right into this. It reminded her that this world was nothing like her old one. Then again though, if she planned on traveling all the worlds searching for her brother she better get used to fighting these things.
'Plus it's better I learn to fight these things with a friend rather than alone. Just in case I screw up.' Miki reassured herself.
