In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Rysel is one of those... Sometimes annoying... Fighters who will sometimes shout out the name of the power/ability/technique/skill he's using. Sometimes. Ry's abilities are kind of specific. Due to the nature of his world, he was born with a randomized ability. Due to dumb luck, be it good or bad, he ended up with Fire with a minor ability for Fyre (More defensive, supportive ability ex: healing, shielding, physical strands, etc). He's trained exceedingly well for his age and can perform a few high caliber techniques. His abilities with Fire and Fyre are also generally basic albeit his natural talent. He can cause his weaponry to catch fire, causing cauterized wounds. Ouch, right? He can also send slashes of solid fire by utilizing the power and heat of Fire with the physical magic of Fyre... He can use other techniques like fire ropes and manipulating his body as well as the typical fire blast from his hand. These techniques are ranged from high to low caliber. His abilities of Fyre are decently weak since his talent with Fyre is slow to develop. His healing is limited to himself and it's slow. His shields are decently weak and can't stand up to a massive blow but can block strikes and non-mega attacks. Usually, he sets up thin shields around his joints to secretly protect them without slowing his movement however, these shields are very weak.
Techniques: Eruption: A ring of explosive fire erupts from the ground, fully covering him but not in a far radius. About two feet from his extended arms. The explosions lasts for about seven seconds after casted but the initial explosion lasts about three. Cannot be used in rapid succession. Cannot block heavy projectiles for it's force and explosion but can negate magic and smaller blows with pressure as well as blow-back. Can be used again after a time lag of say two posts. This ability costs the most on Rysel's body.
Flashfyre: After-images appear when Rysel begins to move. Lasts for about three posts when pushed as it can be used constantly however the magic in his body needs time to, literally, cool down or else his body will begin to overheat. If pushed to three posts, can be used after three. If it lasts two, then two. It one, then one and so forth. This technique ranges from simple to extreme and costs very little on Rysel to making him overheat within the first moments on use. If Rysel's body overheats, his vision will blur, his head will ache, and he will lose strength and focus as well as risk sickness and if it goes too far, death. He is, literally, playing with fire.
Sensation: Heat up and manipulate Rysel's limbs and insides to loosen and tighten on mental command, increasing speed and power but becoming more susceptible to magic and steadily overheating the body. Can last about three posts before shutting down but can be stopped at will. It will only last two with Flashfyre in effect and the usage of any other techniques will instantly cause both Flashfyre and Sensation to cancel out.
Phoenix Claw: Strong ropes of burning flame extend from Rysel's hand and can be manipulated at will. Right now, he can only handle two ropes. Anymore and the ropes go wild. After one post, it can be used again. The ropes last for as long as he needs for the physical fire isn't costing his body much but the initial use of the skill still heats up his body.
Hearth: A healing technique that slowly repairs the body. At higher mastery, can heal multiple individuals rapidly and successfully but... Ry kind of sucks at healing so it's limited to himself and slowly for now. But I doubt he'll practice healing. He's kind of stubborn. It would literally take four posts of straight healing to fully heal.
Passive Abilities: Shielding: They last however he wants because they're light and are meant to deflect lighter blows but if they shatter, it takes about one post to re-do them and it takes a tad of magic. He can re-do shields like thrice but only the singular shields. If all his shields or multiples have been broken, re-weaving his shielding will only restore one shield to his body but he can work on multiple shields at once. But like detailed before, he can only manage up to three before it strains his body. Any more will rapidly heat up his body for each section of magic has limits. He can activate them through a snap of his fingers which activates the magic.
Cooling: What kind of a fire-user would he be without cooling? By utilizing Fyre, he can cool himself. But, it's slow and in small portions. Every now and then, he'll get cold bursts to help him along but here's a statistic: If Eruption took away fifty units, and Flashfyre took thirty and he used both, that would be eighty. Cooling gives about ten to twenty units every burst and the bursts are usually every minute. Ry, in this statistic, has about 500 to 700 units. Once he gets stronger, so will this passive skill and his units will increase. The units. This ability is passive so it begins to work the moment Rysel uses magic and ends once he is fully cooled.
Limit Break: On Rysel's home planet of Ae'Ire, it was called Sicaria. In this new world Rysel has found himself on, it seems to be have deemed a "Limit Break". The sudden grand inspiration and manifestation of power that never ceases to grow as Rysel does.
Once Rysel activates his Limit Break which he oh-so cleverly nicknamed "Sicaria", activates on his beck and call. Or more so his call. Calling out the name while releasing raw power, it takes a shape as a form around him. His burning flames of red and orange take a new colour as a bright, shining silver. His Limit Break, while still young and immature, grants him three traits. First, a change in wardrobe. His usual clothing is enhanced with the silver flame, turning his garbs silver and flickering with shining fire. His cape/cloak follows suit. The most unusual change is the set of wings now on his back. Fully extended at thirteen feet across, they find Rysel's opinion as like that of a phoenix with the same soft, strong feathery pattern. Secondly, it grants him increased combat ability. While he cannot suddenly appear across with field with great speed or land a blow that shatters mountains, he is still a tad faster, stronger, and more attentive to his surroundings. This power is very young and doesn't grant him incredible increases in power. Lastly, it grants him one new ability he has yet to master. It is a simple beam of energy from his hand he has named "Shine". Shine is a ray of energy that blasts from Ry's hand. While it's power seems off balance, sometimes it's massively powerful and other times it seems to waver out. To Rysel, it's just a risk. Trying to light a room with a flickering candle can't always work, now can it? (Shine is re-usable every post and has no energy cost except for it's recharge rate).
Weapons and Items: Well, Ry has a small arsenal on him. He has two sets of main weaponry. A four-foot, straitened scimitar. Not the curved ones but straight with a curved tip. The second set are two semi-curved hunting blades with silky jagged edges. His right hand holds one backwards while his left holds one up-right. He also, tucked neatly in a sash, has about ten small kunai, a long strand of flexible steel wire in a leg pack, ice packs in the other (I wonder why...) bandages, two stiletto daggers, and a folding bow tucked across the inside of his leg, arrows attached inside the other with hidden pockets to access the weapons. He also holds a variety of poisons he can create from local herbs that range from stiff joints and blurry vision all the way to sedatives.
Appearance: Rysel is seventeen and looks it. He is about six foot exactly with a decently muscular build from his cover life as a farmer back on his home world. He has semi-long and messy brown hair that can be described as adorable or stupid. Rysel has a strong jaw line, complimented by a softer complexion around his eyes. His nose it out-bridged a little and along with healthy canine teeth, gives him a wolfish smile.
When he's on the job, which he usually likes to be, and the job being... *Ahem* Mercenary work... He wears dark silk garbs that fit, small sections of black steel that cover his for arms, legs, a visor over his eyes and face, as well as over his spine. Also, small sections of the same steel over his vitals. The steel is thin and light, giving him maximum mobility. He is also covered by a cloak around him made of a smooth cotton made for movement. When he's just chillin' he wears blue jeans that frame his build, a silver v-neck and a crisp black jacket with his medallions of Saint Michael the Archangel strung around his neck.
Personality: Adamant. That's honestly a great word to describe Mr. Ulrich here. He's very set on his views and it takes a lot to change his mind. His sense of justice is kind of odd. He chooses what to fight for and what to fight against even if 90% of others think otherwise. He believes he knows what is right and it hasn't let him down yet. Even if it's just to get that candy back from that poor defenseless baby, he'll go to the ends of the earth. He's loyal and passionate. Sometimes a tad dramatic, but you can always count on him as long as you don't try a knife in his back. He has hidden armour over there. Don't try it.
Ry's also pretty clever. He has a knack for puzzles and also has a tendency to over-think things before realizing it and going back to find the right answer. He loves a good laugh and will always try to steal the joke. Most of all, he loves puns. Witty, clever, unexpected puns will make Rysel love you. The way to Ry's heart isn't through his stomach, it's through his punny bone.
Original World: Ae'Ire
Current World: Twilight Town
History: Born to a widow who died during labour and a father who had perished in war, Rysel Ulrich lived on the lush planet of Ae'Ire. Since his parents had passed away, he was quickly adopted by a man and woman who were renowned as master Crafters; those who manifest magic, which is everyone on Ae'Ire, but this couple, Martin and Genevieve Gray, knew Rysel's parents before they passed and were good friends. They told Rysel his full name and he chose to keep "Ulrich" over "Gray" to honor his parents. Both Martin and Genevieve were naturally talented with magic and were renowned for their kindness and power. It didn't take long to find Ry's powers with fire which wasn't rare but was rumored to be cursed with living forever if not killed. Most people end up getting killed. Ry's secondary skill with Fyre was decently rare and almost never appeared in the side of the world where he was born and Genevieve trained Ry at his request. Ry trained every day to obtain his Sicaria. He hated secrets and wanted to find out his greatest power that lay dormant inside him.
When Ry was only four, Martin left for war and Genevieve stayed to raise him. The war was caused by form of creature Ae'Ire had never seen before. Black as night with eyes of glowing ivory, they massacred towns in only a couple days. After two years, Ry was now six and the war raged on. The creatures seemed to subside as another alien form took it's place. Research showed this new creature drew off of mental emotion and feeling and became a physical manifestation. However, these creatures lasted only a year as some planet far away exploded and sunk into a dark orb and slowly disappeared, all of this observed through an enourmous telescope. Rysel, now fifteen, left to travel to another nation for Genevieve left to attend soldiers as a nurse far off as the war progressed. There he found a city of silver and gold. The richest, largest city on Ae'Ire. He was recruited into a martial arts home after a street brawl and he accepted. However, the home was actually that of a world-feared and respected assassin. Rysel turned away the offer to be trained and set off to help cities devastated by the war. During those months, the war raged harsher as the creatures seemed to grow. More and more planets were blinking into darkness, similar to that of the star nine years prior but these stars just seemed to sink completely into themselves as they were covered in black. Rysel had a hard time assisting cities for many of them were empty with nothing but bodies. The horde died down immensely after a couple months and the sunken worlds burst into light as if an angel held the worlds and purified them in her hands.
Rysel eventually gave up his quest to help others and returned to the massive city he first found two months later. There, the assassin from before ended up saving Rysel's life a month later from the city government who believed Rysel's rare Sicaria to be a threat for Diamond attributes are rare and far, also rumoured to be the power that will bring about the greatest ruin... Or the greatest peace. He resisted the law and became a fugitive and soon was confronted by a military force who overwhelmed the young fifteen yr old. His Sicaria, still new and immature, was not strong enough to let him escape and was overpowered. The strange assassin saved him with a volley of flashes and escaped with Rysel. Ry asked the name of the man who saved him and after getting to know him, decided to train under him.
After a time period of two years, a second immense horde of black creatures formed and the cycle repeated itself but this time, the horde was ravaged by another enemy that fought the invaders and the inhabitants alike. These creatures seemed to be made of rubber, silvery silk with fluid movements. These new aliens, however fewer, were much more powerful. Soon after this horde quelled from the angel's world purification, Ry gained his master's permission to visit his home. He found his home had been destroyed and ravaged from the war and realized his master had never told him his adoption parents died defending the town, and that the war had gotten that close. In a frenzy, he clashed with his master and created an immense explosion. His master's Sicaria, the counterpart to Diamond, Onyx, seemed to react as they clashed and the explosion rendered Rysel's master's legs unusable from the way he landed. Rysel was hurt, but landed in a stack of hay. His master, with the last of his power, lashed at Rysel and Rysel countered with an amount of power he didn't know. The explosion created a sink hole that dragged the weakened Rysel in while his master was thrown from the room and was spared.
Rysel soon woke to find faces of kids leaning over him. He immediately escaped onto the roof tops without a word and proceeded to learn of his location which clearly wasn't home. The information he had obtained deemed he woke inside of a town called Twilight Town. It had odd technology such as lights on poles in streets and boxes of images flashing inside homes. Un-phased, Rysel lives on the roof tops, scavaging scraps and finding his way around this new city. It was clear he wasn't in Ae'Ire anymore and he knew he wasn't going back.
Role-Playing Sample: Rysel couldn't help but smile. The people in this city, however unfamiliar, were just as oblivious as those back on Ae'Ire. Then again, the people back home weren't as obsessed with money. Here in this town, "Twilight Town" he had overheard, the people all seemed secretly bent on their own intentions over others. "It makes sense, I guess. I mean, a regular mind is a closed mind.. And a closed mind is set to it's own ways. Right, Master?" Rysel sighed at the thought of his Master and went back to pulling childish pranks on the inhabitants down below.
Perched on the corner of a building, Rysel overlooked a small arena within a city square. The arena was surrounded by cheering fans, each screaming the name of whoever their favourite combatant, fighting away on top of the platform. Across from his view was a large read banner, draped across a "Twilight Town" plaque that read "STRUGGLE" with fun, colourful designs all across is. Below on the arena were two kids around Rysel's own age. They were engrossed in a fierce battle involving bouncing, coloured orbs and hard, foam weapons. To be honest, it looked very entertaining. "Hmm, I think I might want to try my hand at that. Ten Crowns... Err... I guess it's "Munny" now... Says I would teach those guys a thing or seven. Or... I could also end up flat on my ass..." Rysel realized, watching one of the kids with a pull some elaborate move and win the match within the first thirty seconds. However, instead of gathering his courage, the shy, young assassin took to fixing each match to his own liking. He would aim strands on thin wire to the fighter he didn't prefer and mess with them every now and then, leaving them to wonder how their uppercut became a right-cross feint, leaving them on the ground; defeated.
Bored, Ry left the Struggle arena as the moon began to show its face. The young outcast pounced across the roof tops, looking for some form of new entertainment. "God, I swear. This town is so... It's..." Rysel sighed. He sat next to an closed window. Considering how warm the night was, he allowed himself the rather creepy courtesy of opening the window. Inside slept a teen-age boy and a teen-age girl. He smiled at how simple their lives seemed. The sky was beginning to darken as clouds cast themselves over the moon. "It's like it's stuck in a forever stalemate. A town lost in time..."
Rysel heard the movement of cloth, and went silent, craning his neck to peer into the darkness. Staring right at his direction was the girl. She was rather pretty, Rysel examined. Her pajamas were covered in designs of horses with wings and spiral horns and black and white chubby birds, wrinkled and completely childish. Her long, wavy brown hair was a complete mess, her large, gleaming doe eyes a lovely green, in the same bright shade as an icy blue. She clutched a pillow to her chest and stared intently. It wasn't until thirty seconds had past that Rysel realized she couldn't fully see him. Her lips began to move, as if she were going to say something... But Rysel was already gone. Soaring through the silent, warm, black night that seemed to envelope his body and soul. That same smile found it's way onto his face as he closes his eyes, stopping at the edge of the city to gaze at the crescent moon. "Even after all of this... The old whore can still be beautiful...".
Questions,Comments, Suggestions: Well I'm not really sure what level of RP I could be put into... I've RP before but never online. Usually in the club at school... But I'll leave it to you Mr.,/Ms.,/Mrs./ Admin or whatever title you happen to want me to call you. I'd be totally cool with taking the RP school if that's what it came to. Also, I know the format of the sample is iffy. I couldn't get it to stay right >_< So I apologize. I was actually listening to "Lazy Afternoons" as I edited my History. Lol.
Hi! I'm Zeph, one of the team of staff members here. I think you're looking good literacy wise, just need a little bit of refinement. And your format is fine, everyone has their own way of spacing things out. (I even change mine up a bit between characters.)
Try editing your RP sample with these few tips. If you're all set after the edits, I think all you'd need is practice via RP. But if it's still a bit rough I'd be happy to help you for a spell in Academy. We'll do this first before going over the content of your profile, okay?
(Note these all apply to your History, as well.)
- Avoid large chunks of text. On WD, paragraphs are separated by double spaces, even in RP. Switches between speakers, logical changes in subject/thought, or gaps in time all warrant a new paragraph. Check out some of our well written threads for an idea of dynamic writing - for a current and engaging event, I'd suggest Rising Storm.
- You don't need to edit out all your dialogue between Rysel and his master. In the future, though, remember that an RP post focuses on your character. Your RP sample is good, as a story, but it doesn't reflect what RPing on World Destiny will be like. You won't have the opportunity to control anyone else while playing Rysel.
In RP, a good tactic is using italics or bolding to repeat the line you're replying to, but didn't say yourself. I know you aren't replying to another member in your RP sample, but it'd be good form for future samples to reflect normal roleplay and pretend you are. (Keep in mind that in thread-starting posts, the poster doesn't even have someone to respond to, but it isn't too difficult to pull off a good one anyway. Setting and reflection are good points to hit on.)
- Thoughts can go in italics. - Use words rather than numbers for numbers two digits or less. - Briefly look up how to use punctuation before and after quotations/dialogue, or look at some examples. This could be as easy as flipping open a book from your shelf.
Apart from littler things like the occasional sentence fragment, you're looking fine. I'll give you four days to clean up writing mechanic issues throughout your profile, and then we can move on to content. (:
*Crosses fingers* I have a sick obsession with being some prodigy. So let's hope this edit does the trick... Or at least most of it! *Worried/intimidated/confident/about-to-bite-fingers*
Powers almost check out. Gimme a post limit instead of a time (such as '30 seconds') because RP time moves a bit differently.
Sicaria: Try to avoid relating things to other fandoms, such as Bleach. The term 'Limit Break' may be what you're looking for, for our universe. Now, Sicaria is actually a little bit too powerful at the moment, when paired with the rest of his abilities. It also doesn't seem to match his fire-wielding skills too well. It'd advise to ditch the part about being able to change the weapon's shape - that seems a bit disconnected with the rest of him. Also, if you translated 'half an hour' into RP time, that's almost an entire thread for some battles! Waaay too long. Limit breaks typically last a very small amount of posts, I'd suggest two.
History looks good! Just keep in mind: when a world has multiple planets in it, they're all connected by one Heart and one barrier, unless they'd been split into two new worlds. (If the latter was the case, I suppose you'd still be able to see it from telescope if it's close by, rather than it seeming like stars like all the other worlds.) If the planet he saw earlier fall to the Heartless (I'm assuming you're referencing) is connected by Heart to Ae'Ire, there would be a Heartless problem on your world too. However, if it isn't, you're fine. Good creativity in the last part in getting him to Traverse Town.
Lovely edits literary wise. Your paragraphs seem a bit thicker than your normally see in writing, but you'll probably get the hang of paragraph flow as you practice RPing with some of our members. Apart from that, you're looking great!
Take four or so days to edit. Sorry for taking a bit to get back to you, summer puts me in lazy mode. xD
