In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

There aren't enough praises in the world I'd like to give to wonderful coders for the Proboards community. The following have contributed to World Destiny in some way: W3 Schools for countless how-tos and countless of other souls who have helped get WD up to where it is.

Dr. Kanrik owns and occasionally uses a crossbow. He can hit large targets up to 150 feet away, sometimes more, but with less accuracy. While relatively proficient, he is not a trained marksman.
He is particularly gifted at math and can do complex equations in his head.
He possesses some magical ability cultivated in Radiant Garden
Attacks:
Reflect: Weak reflect spell, able to protect him from fire and ice spells and blunt weapons. It repels the attack and sends it back at the same force that was sent to him. It is powerless against knives and slower attacks. Each time he uses it, it takes 25% of his mana.
Heal: Emergency healing powers when a first aide kit is not handy. Cures a person to full health, but drains all mana until a recovery period of 4 rounds.
Magic Arrows: Has pre-cast spells on some of his arrows. These take a day for him to put together as he uses magical ingredients and equipment. He cannot cast them mid-battle. The arrow spells can only be used once per use.
• Sleep bolt (2) o Puts target to sleep
• Fire bolt (2) o Lights target on fire
• Poison bolt (2) o Causes the target to grow ill with a 24 hour, non-lethal virus. Symptoms include fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, and uneasy dreams
The rest of his arrows are steel tipped, but otherwise normal.

Appearance:
Dr. Kanrik is a middle-aged man with a head of thick, grey hair, often unkempt. His face is lined with wrinkles, outlining a frowning mouth and a hard, steely stare. His eyes remain bright and focused as ever, though his body was beginning to fail him in little ways. His back ached, his knees creaked and he needed glasses to see by.
He stands at 6 feet and 2 inches tall, but he is often observed hunched over charts, books, or experiments and so does not always appear as such.
He is often found in a white lab coat over a frayed jumper, perhaps a faded tie. Black or grey slacks worn at the knee fallover black, leather shoes.
Personality:
Dr. Kanrik is not a nice person to be around. Often in a nasty mood, he does not hesitate to voice exactly what is on his mind. Being somewhat socially inept, he does not care what others think of him. Like many other intellectuals, he thinks himself to be better than others and no reason to think otherwise.
However, when a person is ailing medically, he knows it is his responsibility to step in and do his best to help. He does not like to see people hurting physically, especially children. While largely a misanthrope, he cares for certain individuals and will use his medical expertise to help when asked. But do not expect kind words and encouragement afterwards. He is not a psychotherapist. His practice did well only because he was so straightforward and thorough, and effective, not because he created a warm, caring environment for his patients. That was a job for the nurses.
Kanrik is very good at what he does and he knows it. He only respects others who are equally skilled at their trade (and those are far and few between in his opinion).

History:
Once upon a time, Othello Kanrik was your average, shy and brainy schoolboy. He found algebra fascinating, the periodic table was a work of art, and the muscles of the human body were poetry. To others, he was a bit standoffish, preferring to keep to himself and his studies. He was accepted into Radiant Garden University with a full-ride scholarship. His pre-med studies were the most intellectually stimulated he had ever been in his life. All in all, things were fairly uneventful. He was relatively happy, working on his honor’s thesis, when he met her.
Dahlia was blonde haired and blue-eyed and a Music Major. She didn’t understand what was so special about the Darkness Theory As Applied to Medicine, and he frankly didn’t understand the point of Handel. But still…it was a match made in heaven. She brought out the child in him, opened his eyes and heart to the joyous things life had to offer and he challenged her to think in new ways, inspired her to reach for things she never knew she was capable of achieving. She softened his heart and he kindled the fire in hers.
And for a while, things were truly wonderful. They were married. She toured Radiant Garden playing the violin while he pursued his doctorate in medicine. It wasn’t long before she became pregnant with Cadence.
The pregnancy was not an easy one and Othello’s wife was plagued with problems. She grew weak as the child grew. And no matter what precautions and medicines and good-advice they took, still she grew sicker. When the child was finally born, Dahlia named her Cadence, for her love of music.
Dahlia recovered slowly but surely and in six months time, she was up and about, running errands like she had always done. One evening, Othello encouraged her to spend an evening with some of her college friends, to take a break and see a ballet or opera for fun. He would gladly watch Cadence while her mother enjoyed some time to herself.
That night, Dahlia was brutally violated and murdered. It was speculated that a gang was involved, but the identity was never discovered. Also high on the suspect list was one of Dahlia’s old boyfriends, but there was no evidence to support the theory. The case went cold and so did Kanrik’s heart.
He became even more reclusive, burying himself in his studies. He provided research for The Royal Scientific Academy. Why in the world they were interested on his thesis on Darkness Theory as Applied to Medicinal Practice on the Ear, Nose and Throat was anyone’s guess. He wasn’t truly interested at that point.
As for Cadence…he vowed she would never suffer the same fate as her mother. When the child asked, curiously what had become of her mother, he did not have the heart to tell her the truth about her violent death, but instead made up a story about a terrible fever that he was unable to cure. It was the first lie he would tell his daughter, but it would not be his last.
When the darkness came, wrecking havoc on Radiant Garden, turning it into Hollow Bastion, he gathered some clothes and his child and moved far, FAR away to a World called Twilight Town. It was a small, quaint, backwards town, but it would do for starting his new life away from memories and heartless around every corner. He set up a small family practice and purchased a cottage on Sunset Boulevard. He home-schooled Cadence and did not permit her to join sports teams or public events. Details about his past life became blurred with lies and stories to protect With each passing year, he grew even more distant from the outside world, preferring to stay inside. His research took a turn for the darker as he obsessed over strengths and weaknesses of the heart and how it could be related to bringing someone back from the dead. Though 17 years had passed, he continued to wear his wedding band.
His actions became oppressive, the point that poor Cadence became a living hell. She could not so much as leave the house without permission and as far as meeting new people, she was practically an island. They never had houseguests. Birthday parties were declined politely (or not so politely). Heaven help the poor teenaged boy who so much as looked Cadence’s way.
One day Cadence fought back and angry words were exchanged. She told him she hated him and he grounded her, confining her to her room except at mealtimes and to use the bathroom. Sometime during the night, she escaped through her window. It took him a whole 32 hours to realize she was missing.
When he discovered her gone, he steeled himself, collected his crossbow and arrows and began his search for her. Whatever it took, he would find her. Over hill and dale, through fire and ice, he would find her and bring her home.
Eh, I'm not actively working on it anymore. And now that I'm in rehearsal I'm really not working on...anything anymore. Go ahead and critique and such consider it submitted. I'll take a few rounds of submitting
