In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

Zidane’s blue hues flashed to the avian girl first, running towards what appeared to be an heavily injured wolf, a flash of red haunted his peripherals and it was then that he saw the shy girl focusing her energies on something, though it was clear that she was tiring. Pitch black bodies contrasted heavily with white snow about, detailing those beady yellow eyes perfectly. Heartless. An involuntary sharp exhale came at the realization of just how fast things happened, the two of them endured so much in such a short time and the gallant thief was nowhere to be found. Maybe now, Zephyr wouldn’t think of him a ‘knight in shining armor’, but at the very least, he could start by protecting the people in need.
The Mage Mashers, were still clenched in typical backhanded fashion, its sickle shape curving upwards in preparation to feast. The situation was painted in an elaborate black and white; the Heartless were here to wreak havoc and to salvage ripe hearts, his friends being the protectors—the wolves’…weren’t heartless, and that was all the genome needed to know. His golden tail twitched in anticipation and without delay he body ran across the snow…targeting what appeared to quite literally be ‘the biggest threat’. Would the large body notice his advance, or would it not? Time would tell, and time would also dictate how long it has to live, which in Zidane’s estimation, won’t be long.
The Shard Soldier jumped in a playful, silent cheer at connecting a hit on its foe, but a moment later the Heartless Soldier was back on its feet and ready to lash out to return the blow. The two armored creatures locked into a war dance that seemed stuck in a stalemate. At least at first.
Amelia saw the wolf fall, her heart skipping a beat. She made a move forward, ignoring her aching limbs, but a few steps later she saw the winged girl dashing over at a much faster speed than Mia’s unsteady limp. Instead of trying to match her pace, she refocused. "Soldier, potion, wolf!" she called out, voice scraping against her throat. The potion came soaring through the air and landed lightly in the snow a few feet away from the wolf. At the same moment, the first Heartless Soldier took the chance to land a hard blow to the back of the Shard Soldier's head, and a flash of movement caught her eye.
The monkey boy! Amelia gave a sigh of relief as she saw him running towards the Large Body. Back-up had arrived. But would he be able to take care of the Heartless alone? She looked towards the wolf, towards the winged girl, towards herself. None of them were in good shape, including the wolf that had fallen before they had arrived. Again it was a question of power over support, and in a last minute decision, Amelia swapped her power crystal for the bright shard.
The shard hummed and glowed green in her hand, a warm springtime green like her father’s healing magic, the energy condensing faster than the power crystal. "Don't attack the green one; it's on our side," she said preemptively, hoping her voice carried far enough to hear. She chucked it into the air and the Shard Green Requiem formed out of the energy inside. Just its presence offered her a sort of soothing calm as it buzzed around, trying to take in the status of the battle. Then the doors opened and a frigid chill swept through the district, forcing Amelia to turn around and face the new arrival.

The Large Body hardly seemed to realize anything hit it. It was possible that it did not really register pain the way other beings did, or perhaps it was simply not intelligent enough to process the information (it certainly didn't seem to notice the icy draft that rushed in on the heels of Jadis). For a moment it didn't do anything but stand there, looking around for its assailant. Before it could even begin to do that, Zidane charged from the front, attacking its massive belly. This did nothing to damage the fat Heartless and it stared stupidly at him
The Soldier Heartless didn't seem to be getting anywhere. It took a swipe here and there and served up about the same. When the Shard turned to administer aid, however, it took advantage and was able to land a good blow to its head. Capitalizing on this success, it launched into a Spin Kick, turning in the air and landing a solid kick on its descent.
As for the potion: It activated upon landing, showering the wolf in a haze of green healing magic. Warmth enveloped her and the bloody wounds clotted with preternatural speed. With a grunt, she shook her head, eyes darting around, reorienting herself after the sudden burst of unexpected energy. Though still a bit wobbly, she was more than able to unleash a few more attacks with her sharp teeth and claws. And she would need to because the second Soldier Heartless was still hellbent on stealing her Heart.
Meanwhile, off to the side, her male counterpart shuddered at the cold which rendered the jacket covering him useless.

Even the genome was shocked at the outcome of his frontal assault, a simple “whoa!” coming from his lips. The Mage Mashers simply recoiled off the mound of blubber like a springboard. Despite the odd turn of events Zidane’s hold on the weapons did not slacken, and neither did his willpower…or his mouth, for that matter. He looked into the eyes of silly creature, the smirk growing on his face, “Hey, buddy! Looks like you had one too many meals there. How about we work off some of that excess so we can impress the ladies!” It was clear that his normal attacks weren’t going to inflict much, if anything on that oversized belly of his, so that merely freed up an option…
The blonde had no time to glance back at the others, but he knew, if they were able to hold up this long, that they can definitely hold on for just a while longer. Once more, he came at the creature with inhuman speed, and with a firm grip, slashed a horizontal cut at the side of the heartless as he run past it, while turning his head to assess the reaction of the heartless.
With a stern look on her face, Jadis' eye glared and counted the heartless that sullied the district. The threat wasn't at its worst, but still unwanted and unappreciated. The wolves that journeyed beside her bolted into a run; the charcoal she-wolf ran towards the Soldier preying on the fellow canine. While her four legs burned with intensity, the she-wolf saw a blur in her peripheral, a winged girl running in the same direction. The distraction slowed her run down before she proceed to attack on her right into the soldier's side. Seeing one fiend taken care of Jadis watched the other wolf run for the fallen.
Feeling somewhat sated, her eyes skimmed over the children involved, two girls and one peculiar boy. Her brows furrowed trying to make out if that was a tail attached to him or a sash. Whatever it was the detail was miniscule to the large heartless he attacked. Lifting up her hand, she flexed her fingers calling to magic. She didn't need to exert all her strength on it; it didn't even deserve that much. With a whipping gesture of her hand, she cast a Blizzara spell at the Large Body. She would've enjoyed inflicting with the thunder spells, but a shift in tone reached her ears.
The soft whimper the steel grey wolf gave stopped with a huff, which build up into a small grumble. The fallen wolf was too weak to be a threat to bare fangs, but something was problematic. Whipping her head, Jadis' eyes narrowed at the pair. The children can handle these baby fiends of darkness. It wasn't too big of fishes to handle without her. The sounds of wolves and the news of heartless drew her here to begin with.
Marching up to them, she demanded an answered and received a groan in return, "What do you mean not one of ours?"
"Where on earths did you come from?" Towering over the wolf wrapped in a meager leather jacket, Jadis peered down out the sad thing. Helping it wouldn't be the death of her, but animals will be animals. If they cause conflict within the pack, then that would be a problem solved a later time. With a gentle wave of her hand, she easily cast cure. Not even looking at her own steel grey wolf, she spoke to him, "He's find now. Go finish off the rest of those fiends."
Exhaling a puff of air, he huffed in return before running into the fray.
A lot happened by the time Zephyr ran to reach the newly fallen wolf's side. A bottle was tossed which showered the wolf in a cascade of green magic. Zephyr hadn't known what it was, and so was surprised to see the wolf rise, shaking its fur and launching itself once more into battle. She slowed her steps then, realizing the threat had passed. There she stood in the district, watching all that went around her. Two of the Soldiers seemed to be fighting one another. Confusion? Or was there something that Zephyr did not know? A green will-o'-the-wisp darted around the battle scene, but Zephyr had heard the Zero girl's shout, and so made no attempt to engage it. Another wolf had joined the fray, attacking the same soldier that the other wolf had targeted. With both wolves teaming up, there did not seem to be any reason for Zephyr to join in, else she cause confusion and disorientation to the canines.
Her eyes went back to the fallen wolf then, spying a fourth wolf standing by his side and what looked like a woman dressed in blue. Zephyr shivered. The mere sight of her seemed to set an icy chill around her bones, and for the first time Zephyr realized just how cold it was standing in the district square. There was something about her the Aeristcrat did not like, and she took a preemptive step in their direction, worried, but hesitated as she saw the same green magic cast over the wolf's prone body. If it was the same magic that the bottle had held, then he should be fine, and these new faces held no ill intent.
The Large Body. Zephyr turned around, expecting him to be crashing down upon her, but was surprised to find he had barely moved, and a familiar blond boy was running around antagonizing and swiping at him. Zephyr pursed her lips. About time he showed up, she thought.
Seeing the Zero girl still resting, Zephyr trotted over, punching her hard in the arm to get her attention. "I can't leave you alone for a minute, can I?" she said, shivering. She nodded her head to the two soldiers engaged in battle. "Why are they fighting each other?"

The sight of the tall woman and the chill that came with her triggered some sort of instinct in Amelia that made her want to hide, but she watched as one of her wolves leaped into battle and the woman herself moved to examine the seriously injured canine. She had heard of a queen of sorts who defended Traverse Town from Heartless—the same person, presumably, who brought the eternal winter weather to the world and commanded the wolves who patrolled for danger. She should have been glad someone like her was here to help them. Everything, for the most part, seemed to be leveling out. A relief. Sort of.
Mia didn't notice the winged girl approaching until she heard footsteps crunching in the snow. She didn't even have the chance to turn before an aggressive punch came at her arm, and she flinched. She bit back a sharp hiss, partially of pain but more of surprise that a person she had been trying to help had decided it was a good idea to punch her, and instead settled for a simple and somewhat indignant, "Ow."
Yeah. Ow. Thanks for that.
"... One of them is mine. A... summon, I guess," she said, answering the girl's question after a moment's hesitance and turning to the fight. "The one without the red marking on its chest." The one you slammed in the face with your hammer. She flinched again when she saw the Shard Soldier get kicked hard in the head, its helmet offering little protection to a critical blow like that. It disappeared in a shimmer of blue light instead of the dark wisps of downed Heartless.
Amelia gripped her staff but didn't worry too much about her Soldier. Her summons didn't die, as far as she knew—they always came back when called after an extended period of rest. And it looked like it had dealt enough damage to the enemy Soldier. Confidence began to return in tiny increments. If someone else didn't jump in to finish it off, she was pretty sure that, as long as she didn't do something completely stupid, she could handle it even with a swollen finger and bloody nail... Plus this girl was standing next to her, even if she looked just as cold and tired, if not more...
She caught her Green Requiem steering towards the winged girl, having finally analyzed the situation and decided on the best course of action. It shook itself like a bell, green sparks flying from its body to doing some minor healing (no more than 15% at most) with a Cure spell before it zoomed off to keep an eye on the wolves.
The Large Body didn't seem to comprehend Zidande's taunting. It didn't seem to be affected from a side-attack either, the cut merely glancing off his blubber. However, the magical blast of ice from Jadis' Blizzara had him reeling, having no immunity to magic whatsoever. It staggered back, waving its club-like arms to keep its balance. Once it stabilized, it made its move, flinging its massive, weight into the air and came down with a hard WUMP, creating a shockwave intended to harm anything and anyone on the ground within a ten food radius, namely Zidane.
Jadis' wolf leaped to the aid of the already struggling she-wolf, and together, they were able to make quick work of the Soldier Heartless. In a fury of teeth and claws, they brought it down, armor and all, until it dispersed into the night without a trace left behind. At this, the female whined, confused and anxious: In the Jungle, her prey did not vanish by magic. The smell was wrong, there was no blood, no sign of life, it was unnatural and unnerving. She was comforted by the presence of her own kind, but even that was off. They too were unfamiliar and different.
Her mate found himself revived by Jadis' Cure spell and immediately pulled himself to his feet, shaking off Zephyr's jacket, yellow eyes darting about, taking in the situation. Compared to the witche's wolves, he and his mate were smaller in size and browner in color. Their hair was shorter for a climate that did not see harsh winters. Instantly, he was on his guard. Yes, he had seen a human before, but his Man Cub was small and brown and sturdy and one of the Jungle, and the other men he had seen carried Red Flower with them. This woman before him was pale and ghostly and cold. What was she? An enemy? Or a friend?
The remaining Soldier Heartless clattered around, moving and twitching towards Amelia and Zephyr, still determined as ever to take a beating Heart.
"... One of them is mine. A... summon, I guess," the Zero girl had said, and Zephyr's world came crashing down around her.
The Aeristocrat's heart stopped, the sounds of battle receding into a distant hum as her vision narrowed into a pinpoint lens. All she could focus on was the Zero girl standing in front of her. Zephyr's mouth went dry.
One of them is hers. She can summon.
Pure, unbridled fury began bubbling up from the deepest recesses of Zephyr's heart, unable to comprehend how cruel the Elements could be to cast this wimp of a girl in their favor and leave Zephyr behind, forgotten. To think this girl could summon while Zephyr still struggled with the missing lights of her Guardians cast a deeper hole in Zephyr's heart than she had ever felt before.
The girl flinched, and Zephyr turned her eyes to the battle, watching her heartless summon disappear in a flurry of blue light, so different from the inky cloud she was familiar with. Zephyr drew her mouth into a thin line. Good.
A heartless summon. Who was this girl; how did she gain this power? It drove Zephyr mad to think of it. She wanted to hit her, demand to know how this stranger of a girl could summon; why she could not. Zephyr would force the answers out of her, even if she didn't have them. She had to have some information.
Just as her hand was curling into a fist, though, a flash of green distracted her. That odd will-o'-the-wisp was hovering over her, sprinkling a greenish aura about her person.
"What is this?" she growled. "Get away!" Zephyr cursed, swatting at the thing and jumping out of reach. It was probably another one of this stupid girl's heartless summons, and Zephyr wanted no part of it. She needed no healing— Zephyr was perfectly fine the way she was.
The Zero girl snickered. Zephyr glared in her direction, her clenched fist shaking with the effort not to knock her teeth out. Stalking away, the Aeristocrat focused her fury on the lone Soldier slinking in their direction. At least Zephyr could funnel her rage into an actual foe. Without any care for her safety, she approached the Soldier with a brazen attitude, not caring about the danger she was putting herself in.
The heartless got the first strike, raking his claws across her exposed belly. Zephyr did not care; her anger was too great. Throwing a punch, she connected solidly with the Heartless's helmeted head, knocking it backwards. She ran after it, throwing another punch, and another, until the heartless had collapsed in a confused heap on the snow-dusted ground. Zephyr followed, straddling it as her fists fell one after the other on its unprotected body, ignoring the feeble scratches it scored against her until the Heartless dispersed in a cloud of inky darkness.
She continued to rain punches down on the cobblestones until she realized there was nothing to soften the blows. There she sat, panting. Her hands ached, her scratches burned, her body froze, and she did not have her Guardians. Resting her forehead on the snow, Zephyr took a deep breath and screamed.

WUMP
Learning the heartless here, Jadis knew the sound too well. Hopefully the boy primate was quick on his feet. Her eyes dropped down to the wolf below. Noticing the wolf stiffs stance, a sleek brow arched at it, a typical trademark. Her exhale curled around her nose before she spoke, "If I wanted to harm you, I wouldn't have helped you or your pack mate."
Wherever they came from, they should return to it; they probably won't make it through this winter. Her eyes widened hearing a horrid sound. For an old soul, she never cared for loudness, and that last scream marveled of a dying boisterous bird. Her nose wrinkled seeing it come from a mere girl. Saying mere was being generous, since she had the abnormality of wings. If this was typical of her, she wouldn't survive Winter either. If little heartless were enough to make her spiral into madness, then she may as well dig a grave and lay in it.
Jadis had enough of this. With a violent whip of her hand, she cast Hibernate on the irritating Large Body; he would fall into a deep sleep if her aim was impeccable. She was being giving in allowing the boy primate to finish him off, and she wanted to observe the capability of the children. He already was dubbed the one who lacked sense, attacking a Large Body at the stomach. One girl was unstable, while the other had magical affiliations. She could feel it.
With the heartless problem minimized, Jadis was able to lax; her annoyance was chilled, and the coolness that ebbed from her died down. Approaching the girls, her eyes trailed from the one on the ground to Amelia, "Is she mad or just ill?"
Amelia wasn't quite sure what had happened, and even the surprise she felt was... somehow confusing. She opened her mouth to protest when the winged girl marched forward with a fire in her eyes. But protest died before it even reached her lips, replaced with alarm when the Soldier lashed out at the girl. "H-hey, watch..."
The winged girl's fist collided with the Heartless with a muffled clang, and Mia could only watch as the winged girl rained down the enraged blows onto the Soldier until its body was gone and the only things flying into the air from the impact was snow and flecks of blood. And the girl let loose a strangled, lonely scream.
Amelia tapped her fingers against her staff, feeling concerned and suddenly sheepish though she didn't know exactly why. Did I... say something? Part of her wanted to go up to the girl to make sure she was all right, and she did take a step forward through the snow, but something made her stop. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her Green Requiem shudder.
"Is she mad or just ill?" The voice startled her. Amelia turned to look at the Ice Queen who approached, and her unease only grew.
"I have no idea," Mia said. It was amazingly difficult trying to keep her voice level when her mouth felt dry.
((It has been three days since the last post. In an effort to keep the battle timely, I must pres on. Once the battle mode is ended, the time limit will be lifted))
The Jumping Shockwave attack shook and rattled Zidane, a painful assault on his entire body from tail to head. According to healers, the most damaging part of this attack was the stress it put on the victim's knees and lower back. The joints were not meant to handle the stress of the impact and over time, it could severely cripple or impede the victim's ability to walk or bend. Of course, Zidane was young and strong and had easy access to healing measures, but nonetheless it was not a pleasant situation to be in.
Alas for the Large Body Heartless, the moment it was prepared to strike again, a sleeping spell hit it square in the face. It rocked backwards, waving his arms for balance, but in seconds, he lacked the strength to control any of his limbs and fell to the ground with a crash.
The wolves jumped at the sound of Zephyr's terrifying scream, fearing yet another assault. The male wolf did not understand Jadis' words, only that she smelled foreign and exuded cold. He backed away from her with a low growl before his mate came bounding to his side to see if he was alright. United and stronger, the two wolves did not relax, but kept themselves on alert, ready for anything. They may have been lost, alone, and afraid but at least they had each other.
Sitting back up, Zephyr cleared her throat, raw from the feral scream that had ripped forth from the deeper crevices of her lungs. Her hand clutched Jispo's amulet that hung from her neck in a vicelike grip and blood oozed from the scratches the heartless had inflicted on her; three wicked gashes that ran horizontal across her stomach, and smaller but more numerous all arrayed on her arms, collarbone, and neck. She shivered in the cold, despite the burning from her injuries.
At least she felt better.
Lifting herself up, she staggered over to Amelia and the strange, cold woman, sparing the latter no more than a simple glance. The wolves seemed to be healthy, no doubt by those healing spells cast on them. At least they were all right.
"How's Zidane f-faring?" she asked, her teeth chattering as she turned her attention to the Large Body that was laying prone on the snow dusted cobblestones, a large bubble rising and falling from its face. She didn't have her hammer, and even if she did, she was cautious of lending the boy aid. She was too cold and exhausted, and the chill was finally starting to hit her.
Even though the scream had faded away into the cold air, Amelia still felt an uneasy prickle run down her spine. Now more or less calm, the winged girl approached, and Amelia did her best to avoid displaying her unease.
"Zidane?" Amelia repeated, eyes flickering to the monkey boy facing the now-sleeping Large Body. "Fine, I think." He had endured an attack by the Large Body, but the Heartless now seemed to be asleep thanks to the magic of the ice queen.
Looking back to the winged girl, Amelia watched her shiver. Who wore a top like that in the middle of a snowy world, even if they had a jacket to wear over it? Amelia hesitated, tugging at the edge of her own old coat. She'd last longer without it because of her layered outfit and long sleeves, even if her shirts weren't particularly thick material. But she wasn't sure how this girl would react to an offer like that anymore. "If you want to, you can borrow my jacket," she said, choosing her words carefully, "or we could find yours." Did that wolf still have it, or was it lying in the snow somewhere?
(Edit: Pfffft, I just realized I forgot the HP/MP count for my last two posts, though I suppose she's pretty much out of the battle at this point.)
His simple dash strike seemed to do little to nothing in terms of damage to the enemy, and the teen suddenly wanted to know what this thing ate on a daily basis. The very thought was soon to be voiced into the cold Traverse airs, however, the appearance of a particular person caused Zidane to stop dead in his tracks as he took in the sight of this stranger.
A single glance revealed this blonde female to be awfully elegant, in fact she easily reminded him of the many airy noblehead ladies in Treno. While Zidane was not in the least competent in the area of magic, by the type of aura she carried alone—the mystery combined with her experience age unflinching in the cold, he knew that this lady could pack quite a punch when it came down to it, that much became clear from her Blizzard attack—before he even realized it though, a large shockwave came barreling towards him, eliciting a curse under the genome’s breath as he withdrew his attention to focus on the attack coming at him, but little did he know, it would be too late.
It was almost as if he was being punished for taking his eyes off the enemy. The snow crunched underneath metal plated shoes as he took off running to the side in an attempt to avoid the impending shockwave, but the sheer power that the move carried across the ground disrupted the genome’s balance, causing him to take a spill onto the ground, retaining his hold on his daggers. The blonde managed to only draw his body up to his knees before being enveloped by a sudden wave of force.
The resulting pressure on bones caused Zidane to release a grunt of strain as he tried to stand despite the thousands of pounds of pressure that was applied to his body. D-dammit… he cursed, eyes shut as he tried to literally power through the pain that he was experiencing. His legs screamed in protest the entire while but, like always, it was determination to help those in need that kept him from giving in. As slow as the process appeared to be, the resistance lessened considerably in roughly twenty seconds, granting Zidane the time needed to finally get back on his feet, blue eyes opening to take in a surprising sight.
A snoozing large body.
His curious head immediately whipped itself in the direction of where the strange lady stood, and from the looks of it, she was engaged in conversation with the others…about the wolves, most likely. The mysteries kept coming at him but right now, this large body had to go…it was only a matter of time before this thing was back on his feet, swinging its massive weight around like it owned the place. Just like times prior, he took off running towards the heartless, rounding the thing until he came to his helpless head. Angling the Mage Mashers, he took two strikes at the creature’s tiny head, both daggers swung horizontally, digging into flesh. Raising a single foot, he followed this with a roundhouse kick, its head bouncing back and forth from the impact.
