Name: Kaizen Alzarr
Nickname:Kai or “The Beast”
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Species:Human
Position: Kaizen: Neutral Good
Beast: Chaotic Evil
Powers/Abilities/Techniques/Skills: Kai is not very strong, but makes up for it by being very quick and agile. He has fairly good fighting skills due to his home world being so prominent in fighting. Kai also knows a lot about how to make weapons and is somewhat skilled in how to enchant them.
It is unknown if The Beast has any abilities or skills, but because of how wild and feral it is the possibility is unlikely, and it can't really voice if it does. The Beast is very destructive, with tremendous speed and strength. It has razor sharp teeth and claws that can also cut through things with the greatest of ease.
Weapon/Items:Kai has a sword that was given to him by Issac before his home world was consumed by darkness. The sword is somewhat long and he normally carries it behind his back. The sword seems somewhat old, and has runes that go from the hilt to almost the tip of the blade. Kai doesn't understand a lot of the runes on the sword, but he has gathered that the sword is able to do probably simple magic and maybe a few complex magical skills, but for now the only rune he's gotten to work is a Protect Rune, which can create a somewhat stable magical barrier around him and allies that are in close range. The sword though, seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes, as in some circumstances it just won't listen to Kai.
-Runes-Runes are a special kind of magic in Kai's homeworld that are symbols that can be etched onto objects to perform a specific spell. Runes can work in any other world due to the interesting fact that they gain their magical abilities by harnessing the energy given off by a person's soul. Depending on the type of rune, they can either be activated by touching the object (such as for traps) or by saying a certain command. When activated, the rune will give off a glow that's color differs depending on the rune. Kai's runes on his sword are a bit different though, as they were runes that were created before magic wielders were exiled to the Desolate Plains, and through a long period of time as new runes were created the older runes were lost from memory except for a few, so they are runes that are unfamiliar to Kai as he only learned the runes that were made after the magic wielders were exiled (this is partially due to the fact that Issac picked up the first sword he found when giving it to Kai due to the craziness of the situation, and the sword was one that was passed down in his family for generations). Multiple runes can be put on one object, but when one rune is used on the object all the runes will have to cool down (about 2-3 posts). To create runes, you need to have a special carving utensil that utilizes any item with magical properties in order to give the carving magical abilities based on the shape. Unfortunatly, Kai doesn't have such a utensil, but he is at least able to understand a lot of the runes.
-Enchanting-Enchanting is similar to runes in allowing objects to have magical abilities, but is also different. Enchanting gives an object a limited amount of uses with a magical ability (depending on how much you use it, there is also a cooldown of about 2-3 posts) by dipping the object into a pot of some sort that has a mixture of the different items that correspond to a certain enchantment. The more complicated the enchantment, the more items you may need. Runes and enchantments can't be used on the same object though, as their magic cancels out each other, making both of their effects useless. Only one enchantment can be put on an object at a time, unlike runes. Kai learned how to do a lot of this from Issac, and knows how to make a few basic enchantments:
-Electric shock: lighting shoots out of the object, electrocuting the enemy (There is also a small chance of stunning)
Uses - 3
- Explosive Rekoning: Gives an object properties of a bomb, and will explode once thrown by the user and after a few seconds will create a fairly large explosion.
Uses - 1
- Magic Shards: Creates sharp shards of energy that rapidly shoot out from the object.
Uses - 3
Picture:Unavailable, sad face
Appearance: Kaizen:
Kai has short, messy blue hair with green eyes. He stands at about 5' 7”, and has a thin body. He wears a chain necklace with a pendant on the end of it. The pendant is in the shape of an shiny blue octagon with a dull red heart on the inside, with metallic details and small runes outlining the edges of the octagon. He wears a light gray jacket with dark gray lines going around the sleeves and long, tan colored pants. On his feet, he just wears normal black shoes. Kai is normally seen with a sword on his back that is within a sheath that straps diagonally cross his chest.
The Beast:
The Beast is the same height as Kai, and is completely black with yellow eyes like a heartless. The outline of him looks exactly like Kai, except for the sharp claws on it's hands and the streams of darkness coming off of him. The Beast has a very wild nature, usually moving around as a quadruped, and when standing up will sort of be in a crouched and alert state. The Beast has a look of anger and fierceness in it's eyes that is very intimidating. The Beast has a mouth with razor sharp teeth, but when it is closed it is not visible, and in fact the Beast rarely ever opens it.
Personality:Kaizen:
Kai is a very optimistic person who is always willing to help others, and also puts the life of others above himself. This may cause him to be easily tricked though, as his goodhearted nature can be taken advantage of, as well as can lead him into pretty sticky situations. He is a fighter for good, and doesn't necessarily care what others think of him as long as he does the right thing. He is not quick to anger and generally tries to keep his stress level down. He is very claustrophobic though, due to the long time he was stuck in a cell.
Kai loves to make new friends. He sometimes has trouble talking to girls though, especially ones he finds cute. He is afraid to stay in towns too long, as he feels The Beast within him may break out at any moment and he doesn't want to jeopardize anyone's life because of the destructive nature and the fact that he has no control over it. This causes him not to like The Beast, and overall just wants to get rid of it because he feels no good would ever come of it. He doesn't like to talk about The Beast much, and in fact tries to ignore it altogether so that he can try to live a normal life, but it's always in the back of his mind. This makes him reluctant to tell any of his friends about it. The Beast and really anything related to it is really one of the only secrets he tries to keep, other than that he's basically an open book.
The Beast:
The Beast is very chaotic. It has no sense of right or wrong, good or bad. The only thing that drives it is to kill and destroy all that is within it's path, whether it is an enemy, a town, or even Kai's friends. The Beast acts as if it's a wild animal, with an unrelenting force to attack anything in it's general area. It has great strength, and it's attacks are very wild and unpredictable. Kai is very aware of the Beast's destructive nature and doesn't want it to hurt anyone, which is why he wants to get rid of it. The Beast also seems to act like a Heartless as well, but to what extent does it's Heartless instincts follow is unknown. It is unknown if The Beast is tameable in any way, Kai can't even remember anything that happens while The Beast is in control.
The Beast only comes out during high levels of stress or anger, due to the magical pendant that is around Kai's neck, and without it The Beast could come out at random intervals. Kai always keeps the pendant around his neck, as he never wants the harm caused by The Beast to become something he can't necessarily control.
Original World: Aldeas
World Bio: Nicknamed “The Land of Warriors”, this world was one that fighters from all over would come and be trained by the best or spar against others in friendly competition. It was a medival land, full of the best blacksmiths and filled wondrous prizes for warriors of great skill. The world was full of good people and prosperity, except for those who lived in the Desolate Plains. The Desolate Plains was a land of exile, for people who caused trouble in the world. The land was jagged and rough, with unknown creatures lurking deep withing it. Only the most experienced travelers ever able to go through and make it out alive. This makes the Desolate Plains unmapped, as many people are afraid to go near the place. The creatures there are edible though, and there are rich ores deep beneath the Plains that can be used to create items.
A long time ago in Aldeas, there was a time when magic users and warriors lived together in harmony. Then came two brothers, one choosing to become a magic wielder and the other a warrior. As they both grew older, the mage grew to hate his brother. The warrior brother was always a nice and caring person, who helped those in need and was looked up to as a hero. The mage brother on the other hand, always managed to mess things up, no matter how good his intentions were. The mage brother would study for hours on end to learn new spells, and would try to use these spells to help people just as his brother did, but wound up either doing the exact opposite of what he wanted or was overshadowed by his brother stepping in. Soon, the mage in hatred began to sink into forbidden spells in order to get rid of his brother. One day, the mage invited his brother to come travel with him in the wilderness for a few days, and the warrior gladly accepted the offer as he wanted to be closer to his brother. The brothers went very far off into the wilderness, far away from any towns or witnesses. The mage brother, then thinking they were at a good place that was out of reach of anybody, he began to fight against his brother. It was a terrible battle, but the warrior managed to dodge a good majority of the mage's blows. Finally, the mage had enough, and used a forbidden spell to just wipe his brother off the face of Aldeas. Upon using this spell, it destroyed miles and miles of wilderness, and corrupted many of the animals, becoming the land known as the Desolate Plains. Once the mage had realized what he had done, he snapped out of his anger and suddenly sorrow arose from him as he realized that he had just killed his brother. Unsure of what to do with himself, he sat there mourning for his brother for days. The king of Aldeas had noticed this huge amount of destruction, and ordered an army of his men to go into it, but only two had managed to come back out of it, bringing with them the mage. The mage had told him what happened, and the king could not believe what he had heard. The king never knew that such forbidden spells existed (it was really just between other magic wielders) and was scared for himself and for his kingdom. He ordered that magic was not allowed in his Kingdom anymore, and anyone using it would be exiled into the very land that magic created, the Desolate Plains. The mage was exiled there as well, and it is said that he was the creator of the "White Cloaks" that roam the plains. The people of Aldeas soon became humanists, finding mysticism wicked and inhumane. They began to hold a large tournament of warriors every year, to pay respect to the heroic warrior who died due to his brother's anger.
Current World: Traverse Town
History:Kai was an only child in his family, with only his father. His mother had died when Kai was really young, and so he really only had a father figure for most of his life. His father was an excellent fighter who trained aspiring fighters, which caused him to be gone a lot of the time. Kai sometimes stayed at home, using his father's equipment to train himself, but usually he would go outside and just walk around town.
One day, as he was walking throughout the streets, he came across a stray dog who seemed to be a cross between a mutt and a wolf. Kai took a liking to the dog, and they became best friends. He named the dog Kouyuu (which means friend in Japenese). Every time he would go outside Kouyuu would be waiting for him, suddenly jumping up for joy as if he hadn't seen Kai in months. They would play together all the time, and Kai loved having the dog around.
Kai eventually got a job working as a waiter in a restaurant to get some income, and was making a lot of new friends. None of his friends, though, he loved more than Kouyuu. He would always make sure to get table scraps after working and give it to Kouyuu who would be waiting patiently outside the restaurant for Kai to return.
But on a single night, everything changed. Kai had to work late one evening due to loads of people coming in from a fighting competition earlier in the day. Once he was done cleaning everything, he left outside where Kouyuu was waiting for him. The streets were completely empty under the dark sky, as the entire town was going to sleep from a long day of fun and excitement. Kai and Kouyuu began walking, but then Kouyuu began to growl. Kai adjusted his eyes and saw a couple of white cloaked people who he could not identify. All it took was a blink and they were suddenly all around him and Kouyuu. They began to reach for Kai when Kouyuu began to attack violently at them, scratching up their cloaks and their faces. Kai began to fight back as well, but there were too many of them grabbing a hold of him that he couldn't get away.
He looked one moment at Kouyuu and saw him lunge for a white cloak, but the cloaks arms went around the dogs head and snapped it with a clear defined noise. As Kai saw that, tears began to fill his eyes, and he screamed. As they tried to shut him up they knocked him unconscious.
When Kai woke up, he was within a cell, unsure of where he was. He began to hear voices from outside his own cell, and saw more “White Cloaks” coming down the hallway. He saw them go for a girl about his age (12 years old), cowering in fear in the corner of her own cell. They dragged her out, and as they passed he could see in her eyes that she had partially lost the will to live.
During his time in the cell, Kai's most thought of memory was of Kouyuu. He missed Kouyuu, and hated these White Cloaks that had taken him away from his life and friends. Kai didn't say a single word for about two or three months, until finally he was sane enough to begin talking with people in other cells. What he had found was that they were in a burial crypt underneath the Desolate Plains, and that the White Cloaks (as everyone else seemed to call them as well) were a group of mages experimenting with controlling darkness through runes, spells, and voodoo. For what reason the ones around Kai didn't know, but Kai assumed that it had something to do with them being exiled (because, why else would you be in the Desolate Plains?) and wanting to get revenge on the many people that had thrown them into ruin. Apparently, they had recently been getting younger test subjects to be their guinea pigs in their experiments, due to the fact that young people tended to have more light in their hearts and would be easier to balance light and dark instead of having the darkness fully take over.
Kai was afraid for his life during this time, and everyone in their cells could hear the screams given off by the many test subjects being experimented on. No one ever returned. When it was Kai's time to be experimented on, he doesn't remember much. The only memory that went through his head was the one of Kouyuu's death for some reason, and on the edges of the memory seemed to be darkness streaming around it, causing him immense pain and agony which if it was from the experimentation or the memory itself he had no idea. He eventually went into a comma like state, and couldn't feel anything that was going on.
When he woke up, he found himself laying on the ground, not knowing where he was. As he got up he found that he was outside, away from the White Cloaks that had tortured him, but how he had gotten here he had no idea. The land stretched on for miles, with nothing but jagged mountains and rugged terrain. He figured that now he could only press forward in hopes that he would be able to find a shelter of some kind. He walked on for days, and every so often would feel immense pain and fall into another comma like state, and when he awoke he was in an entirely new place all over again.
It wasn't until one time where he awoke from one of these commas that he found himself inside a cave, filled with weapons, food, a couple of pieces of furniture, and a roaring fire. As it turned out, a blacksmith lived in their by the name of Issac. Issac said that he had seen an immense dark creature running around violently smashing into mountains outside of his cave, and was afraid it would bust open his cave when all of a sudden it seemed to slow down and grow tired, falling down to the ground. Darkness began to shift around the creature, and it faded away leaving Kai there, who seemed to be almost on the brink of death. It was then that Kai realized that was why he was going into commas, and that the White Cloaks must have put something dark into his heart.
Issac explained that the reason he was in the Desolate Plains was because he was not only a blacksmith, but an enchanter as well. The people of Aldeas didn't understand magic, so many who began practicing it in any way were considered evil or dangerous and therefore exiled into the Plains. Issac's family secretly did magic for years, while also having a living as blacksmiths, but they were caught and Issac in an attempt to save his family said that he was the only one who practiced magic in his family. He decided to help Kai with his Beast problem, and created a pendant on a chain for Kai to wear around his neck. He said that since he didn't quite understand what the beast was he couldn't destroy it, but he at least knew enough to create a pendant that could at least be able to make it more difficult to take control of Kai's body.
Over the next couple of years, Kai stayed with Issac and learned how to enchant and create different weapons and items. Kai also trained his fighting skills a little more against the creatures of the Desolate Plains. Though, one day, when Kai was fighting some of these creatures, he began noticing some that were different. They had glowing yellow eyes, and were completely black. They spawned everywhere, and Kai tried to fight some of them off but there were too many of them. Kai hurried back to Issac to tell him of the trouble that was brewing. Issac quickly took a sword out from one of his chests that had magical runes on it, and said for Kai to use it and get out of the Desolate plains while he still could (Kai had traveled around the Desolate Plains well enough to know where to go).
The black creatures began swarming around the cave, and Issac began fighting them off, telling Kai to run. Kai began running as fast as he could, while also trying to keep his stress down. Kai then saw something in the distance, a large and gaping black hole in the sky, sucking everything within it. Kai was carried into this hole, and he blacked out.
When he awoke, he was in an unfamiliar place with very strange people that he came to find was Traverse Town. Now, Kai is trying to figure out what happened to his home world, and how to get rid of this thing that is inside of him before it has the chance to harm those around him.
Role Playing Sample: “Ugh....my head........”
Kai eyes slowly begun to adjust to the objects around him, and suddenly regained feeling again as he found himself laying down on the ground, with brick walls all around him. He sat up, holding his head which was still throbbing in pain, and he came to the sudden realization that he was in a strange alleyway.
“What the.....where am I?” Kai said softly to himself. He began to get up from the hard floor, still slightly dazed and confused. He finally shook his head violently and snapped out of the trance he was under. Kai looked around for a short moment, then suddenly panicked for a short moment, feeling around his neck. His hands wrapped around the pendant on his chest, and he let out a sigh of relief. Kai brought the pendant up into his line of sight and said, “It's a good thing I didn't lose this in that crazy black hole, who knows what would've happened...”.
Kai then began to hear noises outside the alleyway, of people and other bustling sounds, and he assumed that maybe there was someone out there could tell him where he was. He let his grasp release the pendant as he began to walk outside into the opening, and saw tons of people in a town with rows and rows of houses. Lights were on every corner, and the town seemed to be buzzing with activity.
He could see that a lot of the people here were very different from each other, some more different than others. Kai took one look at these folk and figured they seemed friendly enough, and went over to one of the nearest townspeople. “Excuse me,” Kai tapped him on the the shoulder once or twice to get his attention, “I know this may seem like a weird question, but do you know where we are right now?”
The man didn't seem to be at all phased by the question, as if it was something he answered constantly. “Why, you're in Traverse Town! In the First District if you're looking for specifics.” Kai then took another glance at the town around him “Traverse Town....” He said silently to himself, pondering what to think about the place. The man looks at Kai strangely, but then sighs as if he realized something “Ah, you must be new around here, we get a lot of newcomers into this town. The fact that people's worlds keep getting consumed by these black holes is really starting to get out of hand.”
Kai looks at the man with a sudden fear “You mean, everyone here has lost their homes?” The man gets a sad look on his face, “Yeah, it's sad but true. We've all lost our world one way or another, whether it's gone forever or has just disappeared we have no clue. We just get sent straight to here.” Kai looks down at the ground, thinking of all the people who were on Aldeas.
Kai hesitated for a moment, and then says, “Does......does everyone make it here?” The man had a look of sympathy on his face as he said “........No......some, if not a majority, are lost when their world is consumed. I have no clue if they were put somewhere else or are missing along with their world.” The man then proceeds to put a smile on his face, and put his arm on Kai's shoulder “Look, it seems like you've been through a lot, so I'll tell you what, I live in an apartment that has an extra room, I can let you stay in it until you can get yourself on your feet. What do you say?”
Kai then looks up at the man and gives a small smile, “Yeah, that would be great, but I wouldn't want to impose.” The man gives a full hearted laugh “Trust me, it's no trouble at all, if you follow me I'll show you where it is and, hey, I'll even give you a small tour of Traverse Town later!” The man then turn around and begins walking, looking back for Kai to follow.
Kai just smiles and begins walking behind him. While he's walking, he looks around at all the buildings to just take in where he was.
“Wow....so many people have lost their homes to these...shadow creatures...I wonder how they feel...” Kai pondered to himself, and just gave a sigh and thought
“Well, if this is how things are going to be for a while, might as well get used to it”. Kai proceeded to take a look at his pendant again, with a worried look on his face.
“I hope that I won't be here long enough for this thing inside me to have a chance of attacking this place, I'm putting people in danger for every second that I stay here.....but I suppose I have no choice, I just have to be careful...” The man had finally reached his destination, “Here we are! Make yourself at home.” He proceeds to go inside, and Kai takes one more look out into Traverse Town.
“I've got to figure out how to get rid of this thing inside me, and find out what happened to Aldeas and Issac.....and that's a promise.” Kai then takes a deep breath, and proceeds to walk into the building.
