Picture: None
Appearance Ryan is a white kid with a very light tan on his arms and legs, this shows his veins on the undersides of his arms when someone is up close to him, however the same is said for the backs of his slightly bigger than average hands. He stands in a straight posture at 5’8 and, 5’7 in a slouched or leaning position. He is also very fit and has muscle definition on his arms, shoulders, back, legs, and an “eight pack” set of abs.
Ryan usually wears navy blue jean pants and a plain white t-shirt. Sometimes Ryan will wear black sweat pants with the same pocket placements as jeans plus two pouches, one on each of the lower side of his legs and, a dark green shirt with two black stripes that run horizontally across the bottom of his shirt. When it is cold he wears a dark green zip up hoodie with the picture of a pine tree leaf as the zipper handle. Ryan always wears his American size ten black Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 running shoes and athletic crew styled socks, unless it is raining, which in that case, Ryan will wear his size ten light brown hiking boots.
Ryan has his hair combed to the right side and, the left side of his hair is combed back and slicked down with a more than needed amount of hair gel. This gives the ends of the left side of his hair a few spikes. His hair is a dark blonde with sun bleached golden blonde streaks.
His eyes are a lightly shaded green with golden flecks in them and, they usually give off a curious look. He has eyebrows that are the same color as his hair and medium sized. His eyelashes, however, are a dark brown and very long for a boy.
His ears are small for someone his size and have detached earlobes.
Ryan’s nose looks like a model’s except he has dark freckles on the front of it.
His cheeks show a little bit adding definition to his saber scar on his right cheek to the space below his bottom lip.
Overall, Ryan’s face is oval like.
Personality Anything Ryan does, he does to protect his family or friends. Because of the incident between his two friends and a heartless, Ryan can be a little over protective. However this usually means that he has begun to trust you and, while this is a good thing it also means that Ryan will not expect a friend to back stab him.
Ryan can’t stand to watch someone getting picked on or, in an unfair fight and, he will most likely jump in to help even if the person is a complete stranger. Because of this Ryan has grown more accustomed to talking to people he doesn’t know but, has things in common with, no matter how little knowledge he has on the topic.
A major flaw in Ryan is that he can’t cast magic because he never bothered to learn but, he does his best to make up for it with his skill of his favored weapon.
Ryan usually hangs out with people he knows or people he has spoken to in the past. This doesn’t mean that he will talk to just anyone though. Usually Ryan is listening to a conversation, then goes and talks to the people later on asking about the topic if the topic interests him. The topics that usually peak his interest are training of any physical sort, crafting, and school work. Ryan listens to conversations about these topics because he believes that others may know more than him so, he always tries to learn what he can, either by asking or, if he isn’t comfortable asking, then by listening.
Ryan does have some pet peeves though, for example he can’t stand to leave his hands unwashed for more than five minutes. Another one is once he starts working on something, even if he hates it, he has to finish it.
Ryan always makes daily runs that are a mile or more to help him keep his body in top shape.
Ryan has always had a knack for wielding a sword because he played with knives when he was younger but, this also earned him his scar. He was also very skilled in crafting his favored weapons because of his great will for learning the art.
Ryan has believed since child hood that he has a “true love” and he hasn’t found her yet. The main reason he believes this is because whenever he felt sad, his mom would constantly insist that he would find a “special someone” that cared about him more than the world. Because of his mother’s urging that he would find this person, Ryan soon believed it and was extremely respectful and courteous around women from that point on, hoping that would help find his someone. Ryan has kept this a secret for nine years of his life because when he spoke about this around his identical twin, he was laughed at.
Ryan is a polite and respectable person to those that are not mean or rude. He only trusts his friends and family because he is most comfortable around them and, believes that they will not do anything to hurt him. Because of this he is extremely loyal to his family members and friends and, would die for anyone of them if it protected them. He is also very brave when he needs to be, for example, if he saw one of his friends being attacked, he would rush to their rescue.
Ryan is very honorable as well and tries his utmost to hold a promise. In addition to this, he is honest and only lies if it will save someone he cares about from harm, be it physical, or emotional.
He is also kind to everyone around him because he doesn’t know what is going on in their life and, he considers all the things the person does, good or bad, before he judges whether he decides if he could get along with them or not.
If Ryan is around people that he isn’t comfortable with he will seclude himself from them but, will respond to them with brief but, polite responses.
When in a group of people that he is comfortable around, Ryan will obey commands but, will make suggestions to better the plan if he is unsure of it. When working with a group of people that he is uncomfortable around, Ryan will still obey orders but, only if he is sure that the plan will work but, if he isn’t sure that it will work then he will improvise. He also takes this time to figure out if he can get along with his group and, if he can’t, he will go his own way.
In dangerous situations Ryan will fight and, if that doesn’t work he will run. If running doesn’t help then he will figure a logical way out. He may repeat this many times until something works or, he is killed.
Original World: Radiant Garden
Current World: Radiant Garden
History Ryan was born three years prior to the events of BBS in a mid class home in his home world Radiant Garden, which as he turned the age of three, was called Hollow Bastion. He was born just after his identical twin, Gabriel, in a family of six. Ryan and Gabriel are the eldest with a year between them and their younger sister and, a year separates her from the youngest sister.
When he was four, Ryan and his brother, Gabriel, were play fighting with knives. They both set a rule that whoever was cut first was the one who lost. A minute after they started their fight, Gabriel slashed at Ryan’s right cheek with his knife. Ryan was not expecting the attack and brought his knife up a second too late. The blade slashed from the top of Ryan’s right cheek to the space below his lip. Luckily for Ryan, they were close to their house and, the boys’ mom was a practitioner of the healing magic. After Ryan’s wound was healed a scar was left where the wound was and, the two boys were told that they couldn’t play with knives. Ryan didn’t fully trust his brother with anything sharp for a year.
Later that year a huge amount of heartless attacked his home world. This forced his family to take desperate measures to get at least their children off world. Eventually this lead them to Cid to ask him to get them off world. They offered him munny for his trouble but, because he felt bad for the family he allowed them on his gummi ship without having to pay him. After days of searching through the universe, the group finally landed on Traverse Town. There the family found a place to stay in the dangerous second district
A year after they had settled in Ryan’s parents began to home school Ryan and his siblings. Since Ryan’s father was a very skilled swordsman and a decent crafter, Ryan tended to pay more attention to his teaching rather than his mother’s because, Ryan was fascinated with swords and was very excited to figure out how to craft them. Ryan’s mother was a highly skilled healer, meaning that she was very good in healing injuries and illnesses with magic but, because of this she also knew about crafting items such as potions and ethers. Both of his parents however were literate and taught all of their children how to read and write.
Two years later when Ryan was seven, he would start taking runs secretly out of the house, while everyone else was sleeping, to help him with lasting longer in his sparing matches with his father. After a year of taking daily runs, Ryan found the waterway, which he added to his running route. Ryan’s father woke up early one morning and saw Ryan going to leave for his daily morning run and, would have forbidden him to stop running but, Ryan pleaded to his father to allow his father to let him continue the runs. His father agreed but, made Ryan run with him and Gabriel. Ryan agreed because he didn’t want to lose the scenic run route that he found. When Ryan led his father and brother to the waterway his father asked Ryan if he had swam in it. When Ryan said he didn’t know how to swim he father decided to teach him and Gabriel because he believed that it would benefit them later on in their life.
A year after he was taught to swim, Ryan was allowed to go with his father to the first district. In the shop that Ryan and his father went to, Ryan saw a strange curved blade. When Ryan asked his father what the object was, he was told that it was a hook. When they got home, Ryan attempted to recreate the hook but, instead he made his first hook- blade. Later on that week he showed his father his new creation and, his father attempted to teach Ryan how to use it as a hook and a sword. Ryan was able to perfect his wielding style for his hook blade by the time he was thirteen.
Just before his fourteenth birthday, Ryan’s parents found out that their home world, Radiant Garden or as it was still called, Hollow Bastion was now safe for colonization again. The family hitched a ride with Cid once again but, this time back to their world.
When the family arrived back home the had to build a new house because their house was destroyed in the assault nine years ago but, this allowed them to build closer to the new town marketplace.
A year later when Ryan was more comfortable with his surroundings, he took his brother and went to the marketplace because he decided he wanted to make some friends because he had never had any. When they arrived at the marketplace there wasn’t any other kids around. After hanging about for an hour, the two boys spotted two other kids about their age and went to greet them. The conversation was awkward at first but, after ten minutes the kids were talking to each other as if they had been friends for a while. The group decided to hang out the next day to talk more.
After Ryan’s fifteenth birthday he, his brother and their friends decided to walk around town. Ryan was going to ask his lady friend out on a date because he still believed all the romance tales his mother told him when he was young but, old enough to understand. However, before he could do so the heartless incident occurred and, Ryan lost his two friends while Gabriel, his brother, was truly an identical twin because he received a scar very similar to Ryan’s, during the incident. Both of the boys narrowly escaped though. They told the parents of their friends the next day about the whole incident.
Ryan was very protective around his family members or, any acquaintances he made. He also made a new hook blade that was crafted from silk wire to better improve his chances of protecting the people he cared about. This also made him more careful about the people that he made friends with because he didn’t like the sacrifice his two friends made so that he could escape.
Role Playing Sample Ryan, his brother Gabriel and, their two friends Louis and Stacy walked down a street that lead to the marketplace.
‘Maybe I can ask Stacy to go out with me’ Ryan thought as he looked at the short light skinned girl that had long, flowing fair hair and light blue eyes.
‘But we’ve been friends for a while so, wouldn’t it be weird?’ He thought again.
‘Perhaps Mom was wrong about asking me to bring Stacy over because she thinks Stacy has a crush on me.’ Ryan considered this for a while but, was interrupted when something hit him on the head.
“Ow!” He exclaimed.
“Are you still thinking about the subject Mom talked to you about?” Said his brother Gabriel, who he inferred had hit him. “Just let it go. She’s not your ‘Special Someone’ as Mom says. Quite frankly, I believe that you have your head stuck in the clouds.” Gabriel continued.
“Yeah but, if I don’t have anything to dream for then life gets boring.” Ryan said rubbing the spot where he was hit.
“What ‘cha guys talking about back their?” Said Louis. Louis was a tall dark skinned boy with short black hair that was cut in a fade style and, he had honey colored eyes.
“Nothing.” Ryan and Gabriel replied in unison.
“Why do you guys always do that?” Stacy asked sounding slightly annoyed.
“Do what?” They asked in unison.
“Never mind.” Stacy said waving it off.
“So where are we hea… What’s that?” Louis inquired as he turned and looked down an alleyway.
The other three stopped and looked at the alleyway that Louis was standing before. They saw a tall black creature with two black things coming down from the side of it’s head in a zigzag pattern and, as the creature turned towards them they spotted it’s to yellow eyes that held no emotion. They also noticed that the creature stood on two legs that were bent like a dog’s and, that it had two arms with a hand that had claws instead of fingers. The creature began to size them up at the same time both Ryan and Gabriel spoke consecutively.
“It’s a heartless.” Ryan whispered loud enough for his friends to hear.
“More importantly it’s a giant shadow. Those things are trouble, we should run.” Gabriel whispered to the group at the same volume.
“Won’t it follow us if we run though?” Stacy asked.
The shadow began moving closer to the group in a slow, calm, walk. Carefully watching them for any movement that they would dare try to make.
“Well if we stay here, that thing’s gonna get us.” Louis pointed out. “I have a plan though. We all split to two groups. Stacy and I will go one way, you two go another. We’ll see each other tomorrow if this works.” Louis said confidently.
“What if we don’t all get out of this though? What then?” asked Gabriel, because he always had a negative attitude in these kinds of situations.
“We’ll see ya’ll tomorrow. ‘Kay?” Louis asked, then got up with Stacy before Gabriel could reply and started running.
The shadow turned it’s head towards Louis and Stacy, then sunk into the ground and started following them.
Ryan and Gabriel reluctantly began running to their house.
“Do you think they’ll make it?” Ryan asked, concerned.
“Of course they will. Might take them a month or two though.” said Gabriel.
“Your not cheering me up at all.” said Ryan, obviously upset.
“I know. Just voicing my opinions.” Gabriel said.
Just then the two heard a scream.
“What now? We’re almost home.” complained Gabriel.
“Shush! It sounded like Stacy. Maybe their in trouble!” Ryan said with a look of fear in his eyes.
“You worry too much.” Gabriel told Ryan just as Ryan ran to where he heard the scream.
“You worried too little. Look.” Ryan said somberly.
Gabriel turned the corner and looked where Ryan was pointing and saw Stacy’s bag that she always had on her.
“Perhaps she dropped it.” Gabriel replied.
“I don’t think so. Read this note.” Ryan said with a heart full of lead, while holding the note that he just read.
Gabriel took the note and read it aloud. “We’re sorry, we couldn’t make it.”
Ryan remembered that the note was written a little sloppy but, it was Stacy’s writing.
Both boys went to each of their friends houses to see if they were there but, neither Stacy nor Louis had escaped. Ryan and Gabriel decided to walk home and ask their parents to send out a search party for Stacy and Louis but, deep down, the two brothers knew that their friends were gone. And they weren’t going to come back.
