Heartborn OmenAiken is aware of this darkness deep inside of his heart which was born from the loss of his father and clan, but he often fights it off as it can make him do things he wouldn't normally do; for example it would trigger his killer instinct which means he loses his normal hesitation for killing people, this darkness takes advantage of that and sometimes will cause him to be more lethal when fighting.

The AvengerThis is a compound bow made for a Master Hunter like Aiken, it was built for him by his blacksmith before his clan was wiped out and it serves as a reminder for what happened in his homeworld, and why he must carry on with his mission. In Aiken's world this is the first bow of it's kind , a bow that uses a levering system, usually of cables and pulleys, to bend the limbs. This system grants the user mecahnical advantage as such the limbs of this compound bow are much stiffer than that of a normal recurve bow or longbow. Due to the higher -rigidity, higher technology construction this bow increases the accuracy by reducing the bow's sensitivity to changes in temperature and humidity.
It's design is jet black and is rather large it's brace height is 6-1/8 with a draw length of 27 - 30 with a 65/80 % let off along with a 41 string. This particular bow offers a wide range of let off adjustment due to it's interchangable module design, which provides Aiken with with a combination of feel, precision and perfomance out in the field. If he wanted to he could always add a scope attatchment to it in order to help aid his aiming, although he doesn't need to rely on one it is an option.
Quiver:
The QuiverAlongside his bow Aiken will carry a standard jet black quiver with him at all times (unless he loses it somehow), this quiver is large enough for him to carry 20 arrows. He will need to resupply if he runs out of arrows, so he makes his shots count but he will often result to hand-to-hand combat if this happens or to spare some arrows.
As a last resort Aiken always carries a dagger on his belt, he will only use this for hunting or if he doesn't have a choice.
Appearance:
Closest image I could findAiken stands at around 5'8 and has a muscled build, although not too much muscle he isn't as big as wrestler, but more of a athlete, he has gained this body mass from harsh training, he is lean and appears taller than most people his age. He is agile and light footed which is required for a Hunter as he park-ours a lot and can easily outrun guards, he is a skilled acrobat and has the body build to prove it.
He is what most women would consider dark and handsome, his face is thin well looked after since he arrived back home. His hair colour is black which he styles back and upwards slightly, it's short/medium in length and short on his sides. His beard is also black and has little sideburns approaching the bottom of his ears up to his hairline, almost like a Victorian beard. His eyes are small and slightly narrow he appears as though he is brooding, his nose is long but isn't pointy and his mouth is wide and thin he also has a scar across his face which has healed over time but can still be clearly seen , which makes him look rather intimidating to some, but it is merely a survivor mark.
His attire mostly consists of black leather with minimal plate armour as he must be as light as possible, he wears black robes which are a lighter brown lower down, a brown belt with silver buckles around his waist, along with a pouch on the right side of his belt. He has black trousers and black boots, the only armour he wears are the gauntlets on his wrists and right shoulder, though the gauntlets are more like bracers as he has black finger-less gloves. There are several symbols on his main outfit, there is an eagle of an unknown origin on his left shoulder and his plate armour have unknown symbols on them, his collar is rather high and sticks out slightly above his cheekbones. He carries his bow and quiver on his back which is strapped to him with brown belts and silver buckles.
Personality:
Aiken is normally a quiet and silent person as he has to remain strong in order to keep the darkness within him from spreading, he is more of actions over words type of guy, though if he must he is fully capable of speaking and when he get's going he can talk. If he finds someone is morally wrong then he will try his best to prevent them from making the wrong decision, as he has done many wrong things in his past life that he will try and stop anyone from going down a dark path like he had.
He isn't quick to trusting others either despite his best interest in justice he will push people away as he doesn't want to get too close to someone, as he has lost those closest to him before and has been betrayed by the person he once called Master, so he finds it difficult to trust others. But he will come around after some convincing and they have proven loyal to him, this may come across as arrogant however he uses it as a defence mechanism in order to protect those around him. But he will help those in need just don't expect him to stick around long enough for a thank you.
Due to his past experience and training as a Hunter Aiken has become a stern, disciplined, responsible serious and intelligent individual, he is always on the look out for those he cares for which is one of the positives to his mostly brooding personality, though once people get through to him he will lower his defence a little bit and can even be kind of funny with his wit. But usually people don't stick around him long enough for him to reveal his lighter side, but there are times where Aiken can really shine for people and they can always count on him in a fight.
When he is fighting though his skills as a tactician and warrior start to show, he is always aware of his opponents movements and actions, because his senses are higher than that of a typical human he can usually react to his opponent's moves quicker than most regular humans can. He is a fully capable fighter in his own right, but if the darkness takes control of him then he will lose his senses, and become more aggressive to the point where he will kill his enemies, but this rarely happens as he is usually very composed and patient though if someone he cares about is on the line he will often act reckless and will occasionally have emotional outbursts. Overall though he feels guilt, remorse and will often atone for his actions.
Natural Affinities/Abilities/Skills:
Majority of Aiken's abilities are that of a normal human except he is highly trained in all of them, he is a master at archery as it is his main source of damage, skilled in hand to hand combat, a master of stealth, meaning he has a knack for remaining undetected and slipping away from enemies even in broad daylight. He has heightened senses due to the survival training he had achieved, this isn't really a power or ability it simply means he is sharper and more perceptive than most people which is a required trait of being a Hunter. He is also very acrobatic and good at free-running.
He does have the power of darkness within him though as it emerged some time in his past but he restricts this ability as much as possible, as under the influence of it can cause him to be more lethal and dangerous. His move when under the influence of this darkness is called the Black Arrow: it is basically a dark infused arrow shot aimed at the heart of an opponent, lethally killing them.

This is one of his abilities which he doesn't really use apart from one occasion in his past, this is a fatal move that can only be used when Aiken's heart is taken over by the darkness within him. Aiken tends to rely on his normal abilities and skills to overcome his opponents, he will never use this deadly move as he must fight off the darkness in his heart as he has a strong will because if he gives in to this darkness, he will lose himself.

This is the form Aiken will take once the darkness has taken over completely his body will be engulfed in shadow, his eyes will become white and feral. As well as having a purple aura around his body, his hair changes to white like his eyes and mysterious patterns emerge on his chest and shoulders, his armour will become black and purple while in this form Aiken's speed and attack increases however his defence is lowered.

Aiken's main weakness is the darkness itself, if exploited he can become vulnerable to the darkness within him and if the darkness manages to take over he will lose his senses and his personality will change, enemies will often take advantage of this weakness and will try to make him give in to his own demons in order to try and win in a fight. However Aiken is strong and has developed some form of a counter to it, but if he has more darkness within his heart than light then he will lose control to his enemies
Although he tends to have a lot of stamina and won't give up easily Aiken is only human he can become tired after a long battle, and can easily be killed by a stronger opponent, he can be easily minipulated into doing the wrong thing, and can be tortured although he has a high pain tolerance if tortured for long enough he can be broken.
He is a loner, at times Aiken will push people away as he prefers to work alone and is used to it, though this is mainly due to not wanting the people he cares about killed because of him as everyone he knows has been killed in the past, but without the help of friends the darkness could take over. However if he is very close to someone he will stop at nothing to save them, enemies often take advantage of this too they have used his loved ones to lure him into a trap or try to kill him as it is one of his biggest weaknesses.
History:
Aiken's story began in the world of Makya, specifically a city called Axudia he was born into a rich and wealthy family. He grew up peaceful and lived a care-free lifestyle, he lived with his parents and younger sister Ayla, he had a relatively easy childhood, and when he was old enough he was able to enter the Hunter Academy and his father wanted him to become the best Hunter.
However during his teenage years he would often go out partying rather than studying to become a Hunter like his father, who was known as the world's greatest Hunter in the clan his father and his closest friend fought together in a war that nearly destroyed Axudia, and was held as a Hero. However Aiken wasn't interested, he would often skip classes in the Hunter Academy, flirt with a lot of women, using his father's reputation and wealth to avoid doing any sort of actual work as well as go as far as disrespecting his father at times, due to not taking his responsibility seriously.
More years had passed and although he had left the Hunter Academy his heart was still not fully into it therefore he did not become a full fledged hunter in the Academy eyes, even at the age of 18 where by now he hadn't mastered all of the techniques and skills required to become a hunter as he still didn't know what it truly meant to be one. But that would all change, one day his father decided to teach him a lesson and bring him out on a Yacht trip to a certain place where he learned how to become a Hunter. Aiken wasn't too thrilled by this as he was leaving his luxurious lifestyle behind although, however as they were sailing away a ferocious storm appeared and nearly destroyed the Yacht , although Aiken and his father were saved via their lifeboat they didn't have enough supplies to keep them both alive. Aiken's father realised this and wanted his son to survive and clear the sins that he has done and handed him a list of names whom of which meant nothing to Aiken right now, as he wasn't the person who Aiken thought he was, then died.
Aiken shocked and distraught took the last of the remaining water and tried to keep warm however the storm got worse, he got knocked out and was left at the ocean's mercy. Aiken woke up, he could feel the humid air on his face as his vision focused. He raised his hand as the brightness of the sun was too great, he stood up still shielding his eyes from the blazing sun he could feel the heat on his shoulders, he looked around. He could see where the deflated life boat next to him and he noticed that he was stranded on an island, for he could see nothing but sand, trees and a deep jungle in front of him. The sound of waves crashing into the sand behind him, he began to panic slightly and pondered what to do he then remembered a survival lesson from the one time he didn't sleep in class. How to make a fire, he went around the jungle forest and gathered wood and some stones from the water, he arranged the pieces of wood and lit them with the stones he had collected earlier, He decided he would have to camp here and think of a way to return home.
However no help came for Aiken he was presumed dead by many but he wasn't during his time on the island he had been training, more training than he had ever done at home, he was trapped on the Island for five years and had been through hell to keep on surviving and keep his father's promise. He had honed his skills to a razor sharp point, had even mastered his archery skills even further he was using a standard hunting bow which he made himself and used that bow to hunt for food or killing aggressors. As there was something highly unusual about this place, but Aiken managed to escape by firing a fire arrow onto a large pile of wood which created a signal for a large boat that passed by and happened to see it. He was rescued and brought back to Axudia, though he returned not as the playboy he was before but as a Hunter. His whole personality had changed with those 5 years, now he was ready.
Once he returned home, he received a new outfit and bow from his blacksmith who saw that he was not the same Aiken that left on that boat 5 years ago, he was finally a true Hunter and was enlisted into the Mark of the Hunt clan. The clan was lead by his father's friend who was surprised at Aiken's return, however welcomed him regardless although he was the one who had the Yacht destroyed, he decided to keep that under wraps for now, he would plan another way to eliminate Aiken soon.
Aiken was assigned a mission by the Clan master he was to retrieve a certain artefact that contained shadow magic and was considered very dangerous, and if it was to fall in the wrong hands then it would mean the destruction of Axudia as they knew it. Aiken didn't want this to happen therefore, was chosen to lead the operation. But what Aiken wasn't aware of was that this was also a ploy by his Clan Master to destroy the Clan for good, Aiken and his team reached the artefact which turned out to be a gauntlet of darkness and would potentially destroy the world. Aiken touched the gauntlet and almost immediately it the darkness within it overwhelmed him, he heard a voice speak "Nothing is free from corruption, purge them."
He drew his bow and channelled the dark magic from the gauntlet and with the aid of his killer instinct aimed at his team's hearts and fired, multiple arrows that pierced their hearts and killed them. They all fainted and when Aiken came to he realised what he had just done, the gauntlet had entered his heart it was a part of him now, he could feel the darkness brewing inside him he struggled to keep it from overtaking him again he was able to shake it off this time however it wasn't easy. He burned the bodies of his clan members and paid his respects.
He knew he would have to live with this guilt for the rest of his live and realised maybe this was why his Master sent him and the clan here in the first place, he thought he found it unusual for this many members to be here for a simple retrieval mission. Strange he headed home and what he saw shook him to the core, his entire city destroyed and in flames, he knelt on his knees thinking who could have done this? and why?. He must find out the Master must know something.
He decided to pay a visit to the clan's lair which surprisingly was still there although no-one but a hooded figure, Aiken called out to him angry that his clan and family were now dead and lost to the darkness. The hooded figure turned around and lowered his hood, Aiken was shocked though he had suspected it was his father's friend who had done all of this. Aiken noticed though his face had an unusual black tattoo marking on it something must have corrupted him in order for him to be acting like this. His Clan Master explained that it was his plan all along for this to happen and that he planned for them to die on the Yacht 5 years ago, and he believed he was saving his clan from destruction. Aiken wasn't sure whether to believe him, as he kept his bow aimed straight at his heart although remembering what happened previously he hesitated.
The Clan Master smirked and explained that he intended Aiken to obtain the gauntlet as the master himself wasn't a true Hunter, only a chosen hunter could touch the gauntlet. His Master was envious of Aiken's father's power and wanted it for himself, therefore arranged to have him killed. This angered Aiken more but he kept his cool, The Clan Master then said however he did not Aiken or the gauntlet's power anymore he found a new way and before Aiken could make his move The Clan Master summoned a large dark portal and sucked Aiken up into it everything faded to black.
Aiken awoke in an unfamiliar place he stood up his bow and quiver had dropped to the floor, he picked them up slightly shaken, but he composed himself by taking a deep breath. He could still feel the darkness inside him just waiting to break free, but he was strong he could keep it from going out of control. He looked around his surroundings and he was definitely not in Axudia anymore, he was probably not even in Makya either this was an entirely new world, regardless he had only one goal to get back home and right the wrongs of his father's sins and destroy the Clan Master.
Role Playing Sample:
It was mission day after many years Aiken was finally a member of the Mark of the Hunt clan, he had been through hell to get here. All it took was his father dying on a boat while on what felt like a field trip, turned into a mess. Now his father was dead and Aiken had been left to survive on the island his thoughts drifted back to those days, where he was still learning how to become a true hunter, the things he had done to survive was something he genuinely didn't want to bring up much. He snapped out of it he shouldn't be dwelling on the past now, their was a mission briefing he should be listening to.
There he sat with the other members of the clan with his hands together and his elbows pressed against his knees in a thoughtful position. He could feel his newly obtained Compound Bow which he named the Avenger after his father's death weighing on his back as he lent forward slightly, listening intently to the clan master's briefing.
The master smiled noticing Aiken's complete attention it seemed being on that island for so long had completely changed him, he cleared his throat and began to address the room.
"Greetings, fellow clan members I have brought you all together today to discuss a mission, it is important that we, as Hunters keep the justice at all cost, therefore I have discovered an item so powerful that in the wrong hands could destroy the world as we know it." The master paused, indicating to the hologram on his right which showed a dark gauntlet "This is what we have to retrieve, it is heavily guarded and will require all of us to get it." He turned off the hologram, the clan began talking in hushed voices showing there concern however stopped as the master began speaking again "I will chose the leader for this mission, and I believe Aiken should be the one to lead you." He gestured towards Aiken.
Aiken could feel everyone's eyes on him, he could even hear their hushed tones of disapproval as they still believed him to be same as he was before he was stranded on an island, Aiken ignored them though, he would demonstrate his skill and leadership on the mission.
"Once you have successfully retrieved the artefact you must return evacuation point and you will be brought back to base." The Clan Master showed the map and indicated to the evacuation point. Aiken nodded in approval, this would be easy the only thing that he couldn't predict what would happen is the gauntlet itself, however he would do everything he could to keep his clan alive and complete the mission.
"This meeting is complete, you are dismissed. Gather your equipment and follow Aiken." The master looked at him now and said "Are you up for this?, I know you've been missing for 5 years but this mission is important to protect Axudia." He paused waiting for Aiken's answer.
Aiken stood up sternly while maintaining eye contact with the Master he spoke in a determined tone "I will not fail you master, I will lead my Clan with honour and I promise, I will bring them back home alive." He finished firmly, he noticed the clan members expression change to a more relaxed expression.
The master smiled "Good, now be on your way, there isn't a moment to lose." He gestured to the door.
Aiken nodded firmly and turned to his comrades, he gestured them to follow him he began to walk towards the exit, leaving the master alone with his plans.
