Name: Ward Zabac
Nickname(optional): "HOLY CRAP THAT GUY IS BIG!!"
Age: In time, 53-ish, but physically, he's still 40-ish.
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Position: Professional Central Pillar
Power(s): A limit break and some water magic, for the win!
Water magic: Your basic, Water, Watera, and Waterga spells.
Limit Break--
Massive Anchor: Basically, Ward just throws his anchor or even jumps down with it, with enough force to cause massive damage thanks to his sheer physical strength. It even causes a bit of a shock wave!
Weapon(s): A very big harpoon. Because nothing else was Ward's size.
Picture(optional):Appearance: If you thought Kiros was scary, you'd be wrong. Ward's seven feet of hulking, terrorizing, intimidating mass. Sure, he'd got a big belly to match, but a guy's gotta eat, right? Right! It's not easy having such a huge, hulking frame that doesn't fit into most doors; sometimes it leaves Ward standing outside while Kiros does all the talking. Not that Ward minds. But since he's so big, it's hard finding things that will fit him. So more often than not, Ward just wears as large of a t-shirt as he can get, keeps the same bracers he's had for the past eight years, and maybe a very large pair of overalls or pants and boots. Not everyone sells stuff in plus sizes, and sometimes that's sad... But! Don't make a mistake on that. Ward is exactly what he looks like-- big and very, very strong.
Aside from Ward's thick build, he has a pair of soft, expressive, bright baby-blue eyes. He's got some internal scarring in his throat, as well as a long scar that starts at the top of his head and drips down to the corner of Ward's mouth on the left side, and right down his chin and neck. That was actually a scar that he got from the war, a bad burn scar, so Ward wears a large blue cloth to hide the top of it where it's the worst. Ward's actually a redhead. Yup! That's right! Copper-red! It just... doesn't show.
Personality: Don't let looks deceive! Sure, Ward's not as complex as most, but he's complex enough. Despite how mean he looks on the outside, on the inside Ward has a heart the size of himself. He can't talk, but he can watch, and the people that need to hear him do, so everything is okay with him. Like Kiros, Ward is actually pretty nice. He likes animals, and kids, and even the color green! It's not every day that people understand that, though sometimes its good that he's so intimidating. Kindness can only go so far sometimes. His favorite past time is just sitting down somewhere quite with some bird seed and feeding the birds and other little critters that like him. Ward has a way with animals, actually. They like him!
But at the same time Ward is pretty emotional. He'll turn red in the face when made enough, or maybe give you a boost when you need it, or help fix that wall that he accidentally knocked over. Doing little things that make people smile always makes Ward happy. Where Kiros is the displomacy, Ward is the muscle-- he cares for the people close to him more than anything and feels loss, pain, anger, even deep sadness just like most others. And will act on it, too! Why bottle it up when you can express it?
Even when there's nothing else that can be done, Ward also has a deep sense of presence and reassurance when other's need it, even when it's just as cover fire out in battle, taking the brunt of whatever attack, or even just being there when people need him. Ward is kind. Overly so. But sometimes that's just what it takes!
Original World: Archipelago (the FFVIII world)
Current Residing World: Sort of traveling for now...
History/Background: Just like Laguna and Kiros, Ward was born in Glabadia, raised in Galbadia, and still has those good-ol'-boy tendencies. Born at the tail-end of the winter season up in the snow-capped mountains on Febuaray 25th. And like his older brother, who was lost to the war, joined the Galbadian army, where he met Kiros, and later, Laguna.
And by "met Laguna", I mean picking both him and Kiros up and hauling them both out from the middle of the battle field, not too long after Laguna had joined, saving Laguna's butt from some trouble he'd gotten himself into. Kiros isn't, or wasn't, the best battle healer, but he did the best he could for Laguna's leg, and Ward had been the one to bail them both out because he'd gotten so worried. And he wasn't too surprised that Laguna had fallen for Julia, either, just like Kiros was, a woman in a bar that played the piano. But, they didn't have time to sit around and be shy, they had a war to fight. Which... didn't exactly work out like it all was planned, either, especially when they had to leave, Kiros, Laguna, and Ward, off on a scouting mission to Centra. It ended with Laguna throwing both him and Ward off a cliff when cornered by soldiers from Esthar. Ward was also pretty bdly injured, resulting the loss of his voice from fighting the Estharian soldiers. The ship that had rescued him and Kiros eventually shipped them all to different places. Ward doesn't have much memory of that. He wasn't as fast at healing as Kiros, so it took some time, but he did recover.
And ended up a janitor at D-District Prison, from where Kiros and Ward later picked him up at and they all moved off to save the world.
Esthar, after the aftermath of bad acting, odd jobs, and Lunatic Pandora, needed Laguna. They chose him as their leader, and unfortunately, that was all there was to it; Laguna decided to stay, so Kiros left Ward with Laguna, despite his position as assitant advisor to the President in order to go give Ellone back to Raine. It made Kiros sad, actually, finding out that Raine had died during child birth, to a healthy baby boy, and did his best to hand Ellone and infant Squall to the capable hands of Edea and Cid Kramer. The only proof that Kiros could bring back was a birth certificate, and not much else, other than some bad news.
Years later, especially after Esthar had been seperated from the rest of the world, things started getting pretty bad. How was Ward supposed to know that Odine had taken interest in a oddly-in-stasis-girl named Rinoa? SeeD showed up, things started going wonky, and all Kiros and Ward could do was yank Laguna back to safty, routine check on Adel's seals or not. The idea was to seal Rinoa away, but Squall always was his father's son, even now, and wouldn't let it happen.
So you have Time Compression and the eventual defeat of the sorceress that had possessed Edea, Rinoa,
and Adel. Her name was Ultimecia and she was icky and seriously wanted to wanted to control all of time.
But things fell apart, during Time Compression; the world was falling apart, and somehow... well... Kiros wasn't sure how it happened, but he and Ward were separated from Laguna. Again. With only a moomba to find him. He's pretty much under the same problem as Laguna, considering how close he and Kirps were to the guy; Ten or so years have passed, and sometimes Kiros just can't keep track, considering every day just compresses down again, thanks to Time Compression still working on them. Does this confuse Ward? Yeah, a lot, but he deals. But he's sure he'll find Laguna sooner or later. So he just contents himself with learning to draw and letting Kiros do what he does best in a crisis, and that's... well... be him.
