In a cataclysm known as the Nightfall, the worlds were almost completely destroyed by a harrowing surge of darkness.
In the shadows of the ensuing chaos a new group has taken shape. Led by an Aegyl named Kalos, the 11th Hour touts an esoteric knowledge of how to combat the darkness and restore the worlds. They might be the worlds’ best chance at survival; but nobody really knows enough about them to confirm or deny their claims.
On the brink of collapse, the universe holds its breath in anticipation. Of restoration? Of destruction? It is up to individuals like yourself to decide.

"Yeah, I haven't eaten in a while."
Maylin breathed a sigh of relief as the pair made for the noodle cart. The noodle vendor seemed friendly enough. He smiled at the two, asking what they would like.
"Umm..." Maylin started, "I guess I'll take a...you wouldn't happen to have mie ayam rubus, would you?"
"Actually, ma'am," the vendor said, "We do."
Maylin gasped; most vendors didn't have that here in Traverse Town, let alone knew what it was.
"I'll take two!" She exclaimed, then added, "What'd you like, Rayner?"
((If you don't know what mie ayam rubus is, you haven't lived yet :3))

"I'll... Have the same, I guess," he said, scratching the back of his head. He hadn't tried it, let alone heard of it, but it seemed like it was a really good- and uncommon- food. He thought it would be good to try something new. After all, everything was bound to b e new now, what with small, black bug-like things on two legs running around and noodle vendors just happening to carry some great food. He was kind of excited to try it, he wasn't normally one to try new things unless he's heard great things about it. Hopefully, he thought, this would be a notable exception. Here, he only heard her gasp and get excited... Well, chances are sometimes fun to take,.

"Alright, three mie ayams coming up!" The vendor said, turning away to make the noodles.
Maylin smiled; she hadn't had mie ayam since she was traveling with her family...it'd been almost two years now since she got lost from them. Food tends to remind her of good times, and even better, good tastes. Her mom used to cook it all the time for them whenever there was a special occasion, like a birthday or a holiday...
The girl looked at Rayner, "You've never had mie ayam rubus, have you?"

(And I encouraged it *Shot*)
Maylin gasped again, "My friend, you have not LIVED yet!"
"Three mie ayams!" The vendor called, making Maylin turn her attention towards the stand once more.
Maylin skipped up to the cart and took the tray of noodles from the vendor, asking, "How much?"
"375 munny." The vendor said.
Huh....cheap...Maylin though, digging into her pocket with her left hand as she balanced the tray with her right. The girl gave the man the munny and turned towards Rayner. Sitting down on a nearby bench, the girl sat the tray down, picked up a bowl, and handed it to her companion.
"Take it. Eat it. Live." She said in a mock-serious tone.

Rayner shrugged.
"Alrighty then," he said, taking it, and trying a bit. And a bit more. And just a little bit more. And some more after that.
"This is good," he said, nodding and grinning. It wasn't a normal occurance that he tried something new and actually like it, but he was glad that this was one of the rarer situations that he did like what he tried.
"Oh, and thanks for paying for it, too, I'm completely broke." He figured he'd mention it now. It was kind of sad, he didn't even know what currency they used. Did they just trade stuff? In that case, he guessed maybe he could just play a song or something. Maybe. If he was lucky. After all, the food wouldn't last forever, neither would the song, so it seemed fair enough. Maybe he'd even play a long song if they were really lucky.

"Alrighty then," he said, taking it, and trying a bit.
"This is good," he said, nodding and grinning.
Maylin smiled, "Told ya."
"Oh, and thanks for paying for it, too, I'm completely broke."
"No problem," Maylin said, "Most newcomers here need help getting on their feet, so don't think you're being a burden."
The girl took up some of the noodles, lifting them to her mouth and eating them, savoring the flavor of the chicken stock. It'd been so long since she had it...so long since she'd eaten with her father and Alfonso....and Damien...and Ethan...and Max...
She hadn't seen one of her brothers since they got separated...Maylin was definently missing them...
"So...not to pry, and you don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but...how did you find yourself here?"
Post by qwertyuiopaz on Dec 26, 2008 19:11:03 GMT -4
She asked it. He knew it was coming.
"Long story or short story?" he asked. His friends always poked fun of his tendencies to sometimes reply to questions with more questions. He guessed it was either his sense of humor or maybe the way his parents brought him up. They weren't mean, they only yelled at him if he got straight Cs or lower, which was pretty easy for him, they were nice, easy going, let him go have fun...
...Well, he was his own boss here. To tell the truth, Rayner was somewhat lost on what to do every day. Were would he go? Who would he- could he- talk to? All these questions normally remained unanswered from day to day.

"Long story or short story?"
"Well, I have time...but my attention span is nearly as short as me; I'll go with short." Maylin laughed nervously.
The girl knew that with most long stories came emotion...a lot of it. But at the same time, she wanted to know for sure what his situation was, so she could help him a bit more...

"My world gets invaded by heartless, I kill a few, get knocked out, wake up on a ship with one of my friends and a few people from around town, we fly, I fall asleep, ship crashes, I wake up face down in a pool of my own blood with a note, but I was too lightheaded to read it, I run, try to find my friends, some people help me, give me clothes and a ship, I'm stuck," he said, not much unlike one would recite a grocery shopping list.
He was trying not to think about it too much or get too emotional, he knew he had limits before he just bursts. And when he bursts, it was more like he put on his headphones and drowned out everything until he forgot what made him drown out the world in the first place. He evaded it this time, thankfully, but one day he knew he was going to alienate someone by doing that.

Maylin's eyes widened. She wasn't really expecting the separation from his friends part. As terrible as it was, it reminded her of when she first was separated from her dad and brothers. The girl let an 'oh' escape her lips as she stared into her noodle soup, biting her lower lip. She felt terrible; she asked him to tell her his story, and now...she didn't know what to say...
Again, THIS is why you don't talk a lot, she thought to herself.
"W-well," She chirped up, "Traverse Town's First District is pretty big, and its more than common for people to run into loved ones from their worlds here..."
Now she wasn't sure if she was reassuring Rayner or herself....

"Yeah... She's here somewhere, just... I don't know where," he said, looking around. Every other second he thought he saw someone that looked like Christina, but he knew that none of them were. She would've been sprinting up to him by now, at least. Though, why would she be looking?
Post by mallorywillows240 on Dec 26, 2008 22:43:05 GMT -4
"Well, what does your friend look like?" Maylin asked, shaking off the thoughts of her family.
She wanted to help Rayner...perhaps through helping him, she'd find something to do...perhaps even run into someone who may have an idea as to where her own family is...
((Shall we go on a search?...and possibly run into some heartless?))

"She's about as tall as you, long, dark, almost black but brown hair, goes down to her shoulders, she was wearing pink jeans and a pink, blue, and black short sleeve shirt last time I saw her. Bright blue eyes, dark grey and dark pink shoes... From what I've seen of people here, she'd stick out like a sore thumb." He laughed bitterly a few times, if she was so noticeable then why couldn't he find her? Maybe she wasn't here... Then she could be anywhere. It was a wild goose chase, except the goose was invisible and Rayner was blind.

((Alrighty then!))
The thirteen-year-old mused for a bit as to how to get the word out about his friend...
"Oh!" She said, "Let's go and post a notice for her on the Bulletin Board; someone who saw her will be bound to see it! Then we can go and look around the District for her!"
